Guest Reviews
- Nina (10/5): - This is the PERFECT stay at Gili Meno
Very clean, staff is very friendly, food is yum! You can rent a bike and discover Gili Meno. We had a private villa with a private pool and it was perfect. They have a restaurant at the location, as well as a Yoga classes. Highly highly recommend, perfect for honeymooners as well !!
- Soraya (10/5): Great accommodation on Gili Meno - We absolutely loved our stay at Ottalia, so much so that we extended our stay several times. We stayed in both the bungalows and a villa with private pool. Both accommodation types were spotlessly clean as was the main pool and surrounding areas. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. What really set this place apart was the wonderful staff, every person we came into contact with was a credit to the hotel. The manager checked us in and gave us a printed map of the island, marking on snorkelling sites, safe swimming areas and ATM machines. The restaurant staff were attentive and courteous as were.the house keeping staff. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.
- Sharon (10/5): Peaceful Stay in Ottalia - Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Ottalia. The first thing we noticed when checking in was 4 routers, so will say the wifi was great. The staff was attentive, and always able to give extra water, towels, and even bugspray. The hotel is in the middle of the island, so there are definitely abundant mosquitoes, so beware and make sure to keep the mosquito net intact. The hot water also wasnt hot at night, so thats one thing the hotel could improve on. I appreciate the kindness of the staff, but likely would stay closer to the cost.
- linda (10/5): Parfait - Sejour parfait.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice friendly resort. Staff always smiling. Food a little on tbe expensive side compared to warungs nearby.
- Verified traveler (10/5): The paradise - :-)
Camera e bagno confortevoli e arredati correntemente
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The island of Gili Meno is beautiful and these villas are nestled towards the centre of the island. The actual property is very pretty, with bamboo style structures and lots of bougainvillea growing. There is amain pool surrounded by rooms which looked clean and lovely, although we had a villa with a private pool.
The villa was small but good with mosquito nettings, comfy bed, clean sheets and spacious bathroom. The pool was salt water, but very clean and the patio area was a real sun trap.
The downsides are that the tapwater is salt, although the shower is fresh water which I think is a luxury on meno, it was however a cold shower. The toilet broke twice in our 2 night stay but the staff fixed it immediately, WiFi is patchy but that didn't bother us and they have regular power cuts. This isnt a problem has they have a back up generator, it was just unfortunate that it was situated behind our villa so filled out bathroom with petrol fumes up to 3 times a day, so I suggest avoiding villa 8.
The hotel has a a good restaurant and breakfast, a nice bar by the main pool and really friendly staff who will help you navigate the island on foot so you don't need to support the horse and cart trade on the island which doesn't treaties horses very well. You'll be blindsided when you get off the boat but I'd implore anyone to head to any of the tour companies in the harbour and ask for a map and directions rather than take a cart.its about a ten min walk and really not that tricky.
Sinon belle piscine, personnel agréable, chalet confort
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Privacy and peaceful. Private pools and clean accommodation.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Absolutely stunning hotel. Staff were fantastic. Would definitely recommend!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely stay - Lovely little resort with beautiful, quiet surroundings and very friendly staff. Food reasonable and plenty to choose from. Breakfast limited but fine.
- Amy (8/5): - Quiet, peaceful relaxing hotel beautiful atmosphere friendly staff and clean rooms
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice staff, nice swimming-pool, clean!
Not to far to the beach
- Verified traveler (4/5): There was bed bug - Nice place really. But the room I was given had bed bugs. My hands and back plus legs had around 50 bites in total. Wonderful place with great pool but I had a terrible afterstay experience due to the bed bug.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Gili Meno is open for business - Amazing little place. Clean, good value. Gili Meno will not dissappoint. Give them your business they need all the help they can get.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A good stay. - Overall was good. Pool was nice, food quite good, clean and quiet. One meal was very slow to get.
- David (10/5): lovely clean friendly place to stay in Gilli Meno - Lovely place to stay on Gilli M. Great pool smashing staff, very friendly. The bar needs refreshing as their range of drinks was severely limited, l was attempting to give them business.
- David (10/5): Very good place to stay on Gilli Meno - Excellent
- Verified traveler (10/5): deluxe room with pool is the way to go! - Stayed at a terrible place by the beach before for almost the same price. Moved here and had a lovely private pool, two rooms with two beds and two bathrooms. Beautiful property and lovely staff. Hotel food could be better, but breakfast was fine and included.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely - Lovely villas next to a fabulous pool. One of the comfiest beds we have had so far. The housekeeping staff had placed petals thoughtfully over the villa and in the morning on our loungers. Staff were friendly and especially the lady who manned reception. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast of fruit, pancakes, toast, chocolate brioche roll and the best fruit juice yet. You could order eggs etc at an additional cost.
We only had dinner once which was in a nice setting next to the pool. The waiting staff were welcoming and helpful with the exception of one man who gave the impression he would rather be somewhere else and wasn’t receptive to the slight alteration of the menu request I had. When I asked if I could speak to the chef or manager i was told no one was available which I felt wasn’t true. One of his colleagues overheard my request and dealt with it straight away. The meal we had we enjoyed and it was a good portion.
Would recommend this lovely oasis.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Would not recommend this place to anyone
- Hana (8/5): Private pool villa value for money - Enjoy the private pool very much. Staffs are super friendly and managed to arrange transportation for us within short notice which we really appreciate. It's about 5-10 minutes walk to the beach.
- Shahrukh (8/5): Nice - The cottages are extremely pretty and the pool area is an awesome place to chill.
- Fiona (8/5): Gorgeous villas but service can be improved - The rooms and pools are absolutely lovely, and we have a fantastic place relaxing next to our private pool. However, service and food need improvement.
1) The breakfast buffet was the same every day. You can also choose a "main" dish for breakfast that's cooked to order. However this is only restricted to one per person. My partner and I wanted to try the crepes but were rejected saying we'd already had another main for breakfast. This is unreasonably stingy and bad hotel policy - which irritated two customers who might not return to save a few cents on the crepes -especially given the high prices of the rooms. Cocktails were very diluted for the steep price.
2) The staff were unhelpful when I'd called to ask how to get to the hotel. As Gili Meno is quite remote/difficult to get to, we wanted more information on how much boats from Gili T cost etc. They told us between 350k to 450k RP, but we managed to get one for 250k. On the way back to Gili T, the front desk told us 450k again, but the first price we were offered was 250k. The hotel should be working in favor of the guests and not trying to make us pay more.
3) The spa within the resort isn't managed by the resort itself, which is inefficient for payment (I had to pay them separately) and confusing since it is the "Ottalia Spa". The massage itself was average and overpriced, but understandable given lack of options on Gili Meno
4) There were not enough bikes for guests and bikes were in horrible conditions
- alana (10/5): Beautiful Villas! - We loved our villa it was so colourful and cheery with the flowers and looked stunning! Would stay again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice room and friendly staff - The hotel was lovely. It's about a 15-minute walk to the beach. Very relaxing pool area and nice complementary breakfast buffet. If you are carrying any large luggage, it would be easiest to grab a horse cart for check in/out, which is easily arranged at minimal cost.
- nuno (10/5): Wonderful stay! - We booked a villa with private pool!!!! The pool had water from the sea....and it was amazing!!!! The villa was very beautiful. Breakfast is simple, but is good...don't forget to try the banana Nutella pancake!!! The restaurant is expensive compared with the local restaurants, but the food is good. The best beaches are in the opposite side, but a 10 minute ride in the bike provided solves the problem.
- PDolton (10/5): Beautiful setting in central Gili Meno - This place is stunning in presentation and has a real romantic wow factor. The decor and layout has been thoughtfully considered and on arrival we were very impressed.
It's about 18 minute walk from the port to the hotel, and google maps took us through some secluded paths which felt a little like private land but we were assured by passers by we were on the right track. The bonus of being here is that it is very quiet, rather than being on the beach front, so that was a big plus point for us. The rooms are small but well designed and presented. Each bungalow is pool side with a pair of sunbeds at the front. There are free bikes available to take and ride around the island which was wonderful. It took around 10 minutes to cycle to the west side of the island which has the best beaches and snorkeling spots. The breakfast was a buffet and included egg options, vegetarian choices and fresh fruit/coffee. Wifi was ok - sporadic but as expected for the island. AC was also much appreciated after a day in the sun.
Overall we were very impressed with this hotel and the friendly welcoming service.
Highly recommended and we hope to return one day.
- Nicki (4/5): Disappointing - Dissapointed- i think they use pictures for the hotel on Gili T. Room wasnt particularly clean upon arrival and a gecko kept leaving rather large presents on the floor for me and my boyfriend to remove which was gross. The reception staff were not particularly bothered when we told them. Breakfast was good and bar staff were friendly. Use of free bikes als9 a bonus
- Dominic (10/5): luxurious and perfect - My girlfriend and I stayed for 2 nights and was probably the best hotel/ private villa we stayed in ( and we've stayed in a few). We had chosen the bungalow with your private swimming pool and it was paradise. The staff had even decorated the area with petals so it was really romantic. Everything was spotless and clean bar a bit of rust around the shower and behind the toilet but nothing to write to home about. The staff were so friendly and always said hello. The free breakfast was amazing and made fresh to order. My only slight complaint , if I was forced to say one, was the free bicycles were in a terrible state and not maintained but they were free so we didn't complain.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff were so lovely and helpful with everything. Food was good and despite being a 10 minute walk from the beach even this was pleasant- john and Kate uk
- Verified traveler (4/5): Mediocre for price - Our stay at villas ottalia was less than stellar.
We had reserved a private villa and they gave us the least private villa, right in front of their bar restaurant
and large pool, they changed us after we complained but could not help but feel they tried to take advantage of us due to us being young. The villa itself is nice, however its tiny, not even space to rest your luggage.
The staff overcharged us for a "fishing trip" and for a private boat to our next island (the fishermen we're quite nice but their equipment was from the 90's)
But the worse part had to be my wife getting food poisining and a massive stomach infection while there (we only ate there while on meno therefore no other restaurant can be blamed)
Pick a bungalow on the beach, definetly better value (and i'm guessing better vibes)
This is the only place we booked during our 3 week bali/lombok stay that was not welcoming or that we did not rate 5 star..
- Dinah (2/5): Very disappointed with this hotel - Terrible breakfast
Inefficient service
Overpriced
Would not recommend this hotel
- christine (6/5): Villas not very private - Lovely villas, but they are not private and anyone walking past can see in. In fact I noticed staff peering in a couple of times!
- KS (8/5): - Very comfortable villas, lovely pool area and good restaurant
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Room/villa is ok, but food is not satisfactory (no value for money) and the restauration area is dirty.
Be careful with lobby attendants proposing overpriced unprofessional tours in Lombok.
- kent (10/5): Peaceful - This hotel is really nice but a little far from the beach and restaurants. The hotel does offer free bike's which are good for the day but not so good for night as the roads are very dark make sure you take a torch.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Beautiful hotel with a great island vibe - Stayed here for six nights and was very happy with this hotel. We were fortunate enough to have a delux pool Vila which was beautiful and a rather special experience having your very own private pool. The hotel is within 5-10min of most things on the island if you have a bike, get in early as they tend to go quick, it is a fair walk without one. Food is basic but tasty and a pretty good variety at reasonable prices. We ate at different places all around the island - Meno has limited choice, but there is enough. The island has amazing snorkelling and diving is very quiet and not many crowds or partying - so if you like that then Meno was perfect - otherwise Gili T or Air. Would certainly recommend if you just want a quiet relaxing break not doing much! Thanks villa Ottalia for making it happen.
- Sasha (6/5): Far from the beach, great pool - We spent 3 wonderful days at Les Villas. We had a standard cottage with a shared pool. The hotel's remote location didn't cause inconvenience, because the island is tiny and it takes about an hour and a half to walk it round.
The pool was what I liked the most, since it was deep and great for swimming. The water was salt.
The room was not as spacious as indicated on the photos. I lacked some wardrobe to place our things, although we had 2 medium size bagpacks only. I suppose guests with a large laggage can feel uncomfortable. Everything else was very good.
- Hannah (6/5): Disappointing - Beautiful resort BUT in the middle of nowhere. You need to walk/cycle 10 mins to get anywhere else, does not sound like much but in 35 degree heat in the day is not pleasant and at night is pitch black so no good if you are on your own. Room/villa were beautiful but hotel staff and services leaved a lot to be desired sadly. TV / DVD players as advertised did not work. There was no phone in the room to contact reception. Bar only had a small selection of the advertised drinks and food menu limited. There was also building work going on during my stay
- Adam (8/5): Close to sunset beach - Loved it here great pool and surroundings. 5 walk to the beach, in the village for the locals well near it. Staff amazing and very helpful and food great but a little over priced. Close to great dive place and lots of great bars and restaurants on the beach. We loved Gili meno would recommended to anyone
- Adam (8/5): Gorgeous hotel - Loved this place but mainly the island it's self. The hotel is in the village I'm Gili meno but only 5 mins walk from the beach and some more bars, restaurants and divine divers. Check out the bar down the beach which does two free films out doors every night. The hotel was very new, staff are amazing, everything was spotless and covered in flowers. Great place but shame it's not on the beach. We would definatly stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Les villas Otallia Gili Meno - A great place to stay, tidy, friendly and very accomodating. Recently opened the entire place is in great condition. The private pool villas are great and the pool is cleaned daily. The staff are super friendly and eager to help. Free bikes and scuba gear are a great addition and made the location that much better.
- Helen (10/5): Piece of paradise - What a fantastic hotel! We stayed on a villa with private pool, the hotel had a rustic and authentic feel whilst still being a very high standard of service. Staff were amazing; food and facilities were great. And whilst not on the beach you are only a stones throw, made easier with the use of free bikes from the hotel.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Meno, a great find and we hope to come back again.
