Guest Reviews
- Yvonne (10/5): - Unusual to sleep in a castle ( even if it is a folly). Stunning views and really good food. Exceeded our expectations.
- Sally (8/5): Great place to stay to explore the area with an amazing view from the restaurant! - A lovely place to stay, very helpful staff with a delicious breakfast served overlooking an amazing view! Can definitely recommend!
- jakub (10/5): Castle feeling on the outskirts of nature. - Location, castle feeling, walks around and staff working there. n/a
- Robert (9/5): -
- Debbie (6/5): - The castle was beautiful, the location very pretty We were put in the tower. The steps leading up to the tower were treacherous! With just a rope to hold on too, which was falling off the wall!!
The shower in the room didn't work! We told the staff but they weren't interested. They said it was normal to have water issues. There was no apologies.
The continental breakfast was poor and the cooked breakfast was poor.
- Kathryn (8/5): Great location , scenic , nice atmosphere - Quirky , in a fab location , thoroughly enjoyed the tapas and jazz evening , very comfy bed Pillows a bit solid for my taste
- Edward (9/5): An atmospheric stay, with excellent food and friendly attentive staff. - Superb location
- Becci (10/5): Lovely stay in an amazing place. Even a visit from the resident ghost. - Beautiful building with the best views especially from our room up in the tower. Staff couldn’t do enough, friendly and approachable. I would say if you have any mobility issues like myself, the stairs in the tower were a bit of a challenge, but it totally fits in with the property.
- Andrew (9/5): Day 8 of our 9 day little road trip . - The overall stay ,room, pub, restaurant, breakfast .and the views Not staying another night , was booked up 🤗
- Rudolf (8/5): It was a pleasant stay - Nice and clean and most staff was very helpful. Beautiful place Wifi kept dropping and did not have smart tv. Not really anything to complain about just makes life easier when traveling for business
- Kevin (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyed, would definitely recommend/return - Characterful and historic castle remains, blissfully quiet with incredible views (we stayed in the Kings Room), outstanding food in the restaurant and great continental breakfast included - super friendly staff
- Tom (9/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): A Beautiful place to stay. - The suite we stayed in was the best I have stayed in . It was large, beautifully decorated and well equipped. The location has amazing views and the staff was welcoming. I would definitely recommend.
- Jenny (9/5): -
- michelle (10/5): A lovely stay, and shall stay again sometime - A lovely place to stay, and the breakfast was very good, and the staff were very friendly
- Peter (8/5): A memorable place to stay in a turret room with a view - Character property. Probably not suitable for those with mobility problems but you can see this before you book.
- Adam (10/5): - Lovely comfortable room, convenient location for edgehill. Amazing view and very friendly helpful staff
- Kevin (10/5): The staff, food and room were superb. Lovely place - Fantastic room, fantastic staff and fantastic food, we will be back All was great
- julian (9/5): -
- Jake (10/5): -
- Vivienne (9/5): Great hotel - The building and interior is lovely. The restaurant food was excellent. Overall the accommodation was good. Good location for Warwick, Stratford and other places of interest. Our mattress was a bit worn and not entirely comfortable. The breakfast was nice, but the croissants would have been nicer if they had been fresh that morning. Would have liked another couple of teabags! Overall, though, it didn't impact unduly on our experience.
- Karen (7/5): - Excellent location with amazing views from the restaurant. The room was interesting and quirky. The evening meals were very good. The shower pressure was very weak, but I presume it was because of the location of the room.
It was a shame that we couldn't enjoy a breakfast in the dining room. There was a very small choice of cereals and preserves. And the croissants were dry because they weren't fresh. Eating breakfast on the bed wasn't great. A continental breakfast in the dining room with more choice and a toaster would have been better.
- Araya (9/5): - Feel like a princess living in a castle The breakfast was served around 10 am
- Williams (9/5): - The novelty of the room, the castle and the location. Room required a little bit of tlc. Some mould in the bathroom and a cluster of lady birds had taken up residence too.
- James (1/5): - Views were good. Shocking food
Shocking beds and staff service terrible
Made a complaint and been ignored
- Sharon (10/5): -
- Kate (8/5): Relaxing and special. An experience to remember for all the right reasons. - The staff were great, very welcoming. We loved the Gin tasting experience. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and the chocolate mousse was exceptional. Our room was huge and super clean. Fruit bowl had rotting items in it which was a shame but clearly just a tiny issue.
- Dean (9/5): -
- sarah (10/5): Amazing - We stayed in the Cromwell suit it is stunning and was perfect for our little get away.
- Tracey (9/5): Well recommended, the pub/restaurant staff were fantastic, friendly, chatty and informative - Setting, period features, quirkiness of staying in a “castle” Steps! Nothing can be done though, to get that view you need to climb up high!
- Roxanne (10/5): Loved it. We stayed in a castle! - Historic nature, it’s a castle we stayed in a castle. On arrival very friendly welcoming, had a table ready for us. Such a lovely room. The views are beautiful.
The food was delicious. We had the burger it was homemade and the flavours were mouth watering. Would stay again. The mattress was springy
- Lesley (10/5): Beautiful building, fantastic views, excellent restaurant ,friendly staff, very generous free gin and tonic in the room - The historic building Nothing
- Alessandro (7/5): - nice location, good dining food. poor breakfast included in the room price. hot meal non available before 10h00.
- Yvonne (9/5): Overall our stay was really pleasant and would stay again . - The property was extremely clean and staff friendly and polite. Food excellent, The only minor comment I would make is the electric shower did not have sufficient water power.
- Helen (9/5): - Was not aware prior to booking that breakfast was left in room Cooked breakfast option would have been nice.
Rope banister not very safe up narrow steep stairs
- Darr6 (9/5): A very enjoyable stay with amazing sunset - The food was amazing The room was a little warm but it was exceptionally warm weather so wasn't anything that could have been done to change this.
- Alice (7/5): - Staff were all very friendly, it was nice to have a continental type breakfast avaliable in the room. Overall it had what you might need such as a hairdryer and iron etc. Bed wasn't the comfiest, bed dipped in the middle when you got into it.
- Sarai (9/5): - continental breakfast (yummy box in room + food in fridge) was delicious and with broad options that allowed us to all find something to eat despite dietary restrictions had a double room, one bed i found quite uncomfortable (was quite hard) but this could just be my preference
- Colin (10/5): Throughly enjoyed the stay, but would have liked the bar to stay opened at night - The breakfast was lovely
- philip (8/5): - Didn’t try in restaurant, in apartment breakfast was ok.
- David (1/5): -
- Christian (10/5): Great nights sleep , good food reasonably priced - Lovely rooms , staff made you feel welcome , food was excellent the beer even better Nothing not to like
- Mark (10/5): Excellent, - Staff and location We received too many emails before we got there, but then, better too many than too few.... This IS a very minor criticism, we really enjoyed our stay and thoroughly recommend the hotel. So, as you can see, this hotel receives praise even in a box labelled "What didn't you like?"!
- Caragh (10/5): -
- Chi Ming (2/5): Good looks don’t make up for poor management and unacceptable service. - Just the castle looking! Very poor management and unacceptable service.
I paid extra for a room with a sofa bed, yet no bedding was provided. This completely defeats the purpose of booking a sofa bed.
There were also no towels in the room until I specifically requested them.
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Olivia (10/5): Perfect location and good value for money - I liked the uniqueness of staying in a tower of a castle.
- Tim (9/5): perfect for an overnight business trip - quick business visit, great clean quirky room, lovely breakfast box, was there on steak night, very good value and great steaks all good
- chris rowan (9/5): Castle at Edgehill Christmas - The location is outstanding, as was the room, with a 4-poster bed and stunning views from the window. The Christmas meal was delicious and the service prompt and friendly. The initial welcome: "The bar is closed!" instead of "Can I help you?" Also the croissants for our continental breakfast in the room were missing. They were brought after request. Quite possibly the time of year accounted for this (Christmas Eve) and the fact that bar staff double as reception
- cheryl (10/5): -
- Mark (10/5): Birthday weekend - Evening meal and breakfast was fantastic. Room was really quirky and private. Great facilities including a fridge in our room. The bed mattress was a little tired.
- Tim (8/5): Outstanding - Friendly staff, good food, great location, fun quirky building
- Christina (9/5): Cosy warm in a beautiful location. - Beautiful property remote location . Staff excellent! The beautiful historical features, the stunning view. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff.
- Myles (10/5): Incredible - Bar manager was incredibly welcoming made me feel like a regular straight away, when asked about the cider hi had he could reel off every answer to every question i had, the room was impeccable. i stay in allot of pubs for work and this is by far the best yet. everything was perfect couldn't fault a single thing
- sarah (10/5): Our second visit looking forward to our third - Beautiful setting, stunning rooms, great restaurant, all the little extra touches in our room were beautiful. We had an amazing stay.
- Andrew (8/5): Short but enjoyable stay. - Great views and excellent bar and restaurant areas with food and drinks to match Rooms can be a bit noisy if you have people staying above as floors creak and are not soundproofed.
- Iyetunde (10/5): A great location,an amazing building with lovely staff - Wonderfully adapted listed building. Cosy Nothing
- Damian (10/5): -
- Donna (10/5): Fantastic - Absolutely stunning building, room was spotless, food incredible, cocktails great, staff brilliant Nothing
- Charlotte (10/5): Perfect wedding night stay. Beautiful location, very good value, spotless, delicious breakfast - We stayed here on our wedding night (we got married at Primrose Hill Farm) and the staff were so accommodating with arranging earlier collection of our keys in the morning. The rooms are beautifully done, spotlessly clean, incredible views, very considered drinks making facilities and wonderful food. We are local and so familiarly with the pub/restaurant, and were even pleasantly surprised with how lovely the rooms are! Couldn’t fault! Though access to some rooms could be tricky for those less mobile as quite steep steps out to our room in one of the towers, which we loved! But worth checking in advance if this would be an issue
- Daniel (10/5): A relaxing hidden Gem. - Lovely hidden Gem Shower could be more powerful.
- Dowd (8/5): -
- Geoff (9/5): A wonderful and unique place to stay - Excellent property, very accommodating staff. Beautifully appointed rooms in an ancient castle. Lovely breakfast
- Rachel (10/5): You will not be disappointed! - Beautiful location. Stayed there on a bed and breakfast basis and was very comfortable. Appreciated the complimentary drinks and fruit etc provided. Lovely breakfast menu choices with a fabulous view from dining area.
- Gary (9/5): -
- Robert (10/5): - From the moment we arrived, all the staff couldn't do enough for you. They were friendly, helpful and informative.
The place is well maintained, decorated and exceeded our expectations.
Our King room was perfect. The views from the room were outstanding.
The food is world class.
I highly recommend a stay at the castle and will definitely be back.
Superb
- Alma (10/5): An exceptional experience - great fun for an unforgettable birthday treat - Stunning location, and our room at the top of the tower (accessed by the slightly scary but charming spiral staircase) was an exceptional experience. The staff were lovely, as was the delicious evening meal. The whole place was beautifully presented to a high quality. There was plenty of parking, but it would have been helpful to know it was across the road from the hotel, to save driving in what looked like the entrance and then having to turn in a tight space to get out again. More hanging space would have been appreciated in the room. But these are tiny compared to the fun of the stay.
- Aurora (10/5): -
- Louise (10/5): Superb stay - we feel like a King and Queen! This castle and tower provide the height of luxury! - We stayed in the Cromwell Suite, which was totally luxurious. So lovely to have a separate living space and bedroom/bathroom. It was beautifully decorated, warm and comfortable, two huge sofas (one of which converts into a sofa-bed), lovely low lighting from lamps and lovely decor with the beamed roof. The little touches were amazing - a very generous breakfast box (croissants, juices, jams, honey, butter, choice of cereals, milk) left every day, with a complimentary Pinnock's gin and tonic each day, and fresh fruit. The little fridge was a great touch, and we bought our own bottle of fizz and some cream cakes, so it was good to have somewhere to keep everything chilled. The bedroom was absolute comfort, very spacious, and a great bathroom with enormous shower. We ate in the restaurant on the first of the three nights. Food (best salmon ever) and drink (cocktails and a glass of a lovely Provençal rosé wine) were superb. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Really near to lots of interesting National Trust properties, museums, gardens and walks - and to Stratford-on-Avon, Warwick and Birmingham. Lovely view across the valley from the garden. As this is a first floor apartment, you don't get the same views as you would from one of the tower bedrooms, but we wanted the space (and it was dark at night in any case!), which more than made up for this. Easy to park right outside the main bulding. We would love to come back, we have had a brilliant and relaxing time and feel really well-rested and looked-after. Thank you, Castle Team! Nothing as far as we are concerned but for those who are noise-sensitive, you should be aware that you can hear the music from the bar/restaurant below (mostly in the bedroom rather than the sitting/living area). It isn't terribly intrusive, and stops as soon as the bar closes, not too late at night.
- Darran (8/5): Quirky delight. - Atmospheric room, astonishing views. Friendly helpful staff, exceptional food. Parking is a little tricky but quite manageable.

- Vicki (10/5): - Beautiful room, really nice place. The food is a little more pricey but definitely worth it. Staff friendly and accommodating. Would definitely return! There was nothing not to like!
- Eric (9/5): -
- Eric (9/5): -
- Michael (10/5): Castle Stay - Tomik was a friendly and professional host who stayed for our late arrival and provided a warm welcome to the castle. Our stay was only short but everything was there including free continental breakfast. The turret had great views over the countryside and could park the car in front. Recommend to everyone for an experience of staying in a castle.
- JacQueline (10/5): - Lovely and clean. Very comfortable bed and continental breakfast box and mini fridge were a great addition A shame the bar and restaurant shut at 6pm on a Sunday
- Jonathan (9/5): Fantastic experience, we will definitely stay again. - Quirky, clean and comfortable. Staff were fantastic, food was amazing. .
- Chloe (6/5): Great food and great staff, but cleanliness of the room to be improved - The food is absolutely banging - it is properly amazing
Parking on site makes everything easy
Great bar, great staff! Very friendly and helpful Rooms very noisy, poorly insulated.
Mugs in the room were dirty, one even had what looked like pubes in it.
The sheet were badly washed I believe because my husband, allergic to cats and dogs, spent the night struggling and using his ventoline… although the room we were given was not pet friendly, but the sheet must get mixed.
No pressure in the shower if someone else is having a shower at the same time…
No coton pads in the bathroom, nothing apart from the shower gel in the shower.
No plug near the bed, they’re all on the other side of the room
- julie (10/5): - From the moment we arrived the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Our room exceeded expectations and the breakfast included in the price of the room was great.
Lovely location and views that went on forever.
Would definitely recommend to stay there.

- Emanuela (10/5): -
- Celia (9/5): - Breakfast was fabulous. None
- Gemma (10/5): - Stunning property, amazing room and fantastic staff. Only downside was not being able to get in the carpark but I got a spot on the road and the car was fine.
- Sally (9/5): Would absolutely stay again - Picturesque. Dainty. Quaint. Beautiful features. No window in our room, tv didn’t work
- Chris (4/5): - Location The room was a bit tired especially the bathroom
