The room had a smell. The passages dirty. The basin plug faulty...water could not drain. Brown and red water coming from shower. The cutlery in room looks like children played with it. You habe 2 ask for more cutlery and coffee and tea and extras like a iron. They make the beds but dont sweep and clean the rooms.

- Veldsman (1/5): Terrible- misleading images. - Nothing Review – Hotel Portao Diaz Unfortunately, our experience at Hotel Portao Diaz was very disappointing. The photos online are quite misleading compared to the actual condition of the rooms. The room we stayed in was not clean and appeared poorly maintained. The bathroom had visible mould and did not feel hygienic. The furniture was damaged and worn, with chipped wood and poor finishes, which gave the impression that basic maintenance has been neglected. Another issue was that toiletries advertised with the room were not provided, which was inconvenient and disappointing. Overall, the property felt run down and somewhat shady, which made the stay uncomfortable. This is not what we expected based on the pictures and listing. For the price paid, the condition, cleanliness, and missing advertised amenities were far below acceptable standards. Management should address the maintenance and hygiene issues and ensure that the photos and amenities listed online accurately reflect what guests actually receive. Unfortunately, I would not stay here again.

On arrival at your hotel, after having been redirected, we found the location of your Hotel to be in an unsafe area for pensioners. We then had to seek alternative accommodation.

Upon arriving,the reception lady was very friendly.Before I fetched my family in the parking area(no porter service but hey,3 star hotel)I made sure everything is up to standard in our room.The room was very clean and I slept comfortably(also had no complaints from my wife and kids.)The kids enjoyed the swimming pool that was very clean and well maintained.Breakfast was good and the kitchen staff catered to our needs.Overall my stay was a 10 out of 10 for a 3star Hotel. I will most def be visiting again

- polive954767 (2/5): Still waiting for refund - We had booked this property without no knowledge of the location or the state of the accomodation. When we got to the property we could visibly see the the property was located in a very sketchy area, but nonetheless we decided to go inside and have a look at the premisses as we also had no other place booked, we had the chance the view our rooms...which we were greatly shocked, they were smelly (actually looked like someone had just used the toilet in there as it was smelly) the doors looked like they were already broken into in the past as there were extra pieces of wood that looked like was concealing the lock that had been broken into. Anyhow to make a long story short, we ended up not staying there as we felt really unsafe. We did ask the receptionist if we could have a refund and she said that we need to solicit that online as we paid online as well, two weeks after and I am still waiting for my refund. And not to mention that I have heard nothing back from this property. And I still had to make plans to book another property last minute, causing extra stress and financial strain. So if I could rate this property any lower I would.

Grossly misrepresented. no parking at front. Sign says additional parking in rear. When we went around back trash lying in bundles. Absolutely filthy. I have never written a bad review or not stayed if my expectations were not met. So scary and filthy could not let my family stay there. We ended up leaving. Wrote an email to booking .com. They decided to give me a R193.75 travel credit against my R3840 I paid to a room I did not even walk into. An absolute insult. Everything. I would love booking.com to send someone over to stay the night and give an honest review and let me know if I am exaggerating or not

It was okay for one night (even that was too much for my husband) The place really needs an upgrade and a deep clean. I didn’t feel clean even after the shower. I remember staying at this place with my parents 20years ago and even then it was really bad. If you’re just looking for a place to sleep and you don’t care about anything else (and I mean LITERALLY anything else) then this is your answer. But if you’re looking for a better place with more of a holiday feel or just somewhere nice then this is the hotel for you

More like a Motel - Our group of 21 people arrived at Portao Diaz on 27 Nov for a 3 night stay to be told by the Manager that there was a problem with our booking in that she thought we were only arriving the following day, she couldn't accommodate us for our first night. Arrangements were made with nearby Airbnb's to accommodate us for the night. Airbnb was great, however when we returned the following day to the hotel, we were appalled at the condition of the rooms and bathrooms of this supposed 3 star hotel. Our bathroom was literally 1.5m x 1.5m, grubby, old and drains were blocked. We were 4 ladies in a room, too many, the room can facilitate max 2 people, no hairdryer. Hotel is in the a residential area, if you don't have transport, it's difficult to get around, away from the beach, away from town. How this hotel received a 3 star is beyond me. This should be assessed. It's more of a Motel.

Firstly we could get the smell of a stinky dirty mop the cleaner was using to clean,it didn't smell good down the hallway. Secondly when we came in our rooms the side tables and lamps were dusty. Thirdly the shower was putrid I had to wait 12 to 15 minutes just for the water to get hot, My sister's room the tub was dirty and stained and the door was dirty. The cupboards inside are not cleaned. We went to swim but when we got there the pool had chips packets in. The location totally caught us off guard because the pictures on the website and the hotel and surroundings does not add up. We not here to complain but it's best you guys fix things so that you can get good ratings.

The welcoming was good, but for 3* look we felt like below Backpacker standard. there is staunch smell . Beds too old mattress needs to be replace was like sleep on the floor. - Peter (1/5): Not happy - Nothing Staff wasnt aware of my booking at first. Room dirty. Mould on curtains. Bed terrible felt like broken. Shower dirty between tiles. Staff wasnt aware my booking at first wanted me to pay again.

- Merlin (1/5): Not good, will never rerurn - Bedlamps had no globes and was unplugged, no plug closeby. No space to open fridge door. Party noise till after 3 Saturday morning and noisy church service at 5 Sunday morning - hardly got any sleep. Bath drain clogged so water wells up while showering, resulting standing in cold water as the water takes long to warm up. Insufficient and dirty cutlery and crockery. Reception not equipped to assist or help with the noise complaint, did not even have police or law enforcements nr at hand. Reception also aware of the church noise issue as he indicated it happens regularly
