Guest Reviews
- Anne (8/5): - A lovely stay in a beautiful house. Very peaceful location. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting Bute for the first time.
- Sophie (8/5): - The setting is amazing with superb views and the house was much bigger than expected. The main living/dining room is a large and beautifully decorated space. Karen and David were very friendly and helpful. The cooker was old and very tricky to cook on and it would have been nice to have some better cooking appliances as everything was a bit tatty.
- John (9/5): -
- Dale (10/5): - We loved our stay here. Our hosts had thought of everything! Groceries on arrival including salmon smoked locally on the island. Would recommend to anyone visiting this part of Scotland.
- Christine (9/5): -
- PETER (10/5): Great Welcome, great accommodation, great location. - Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stewart Hall, from the warm welcome, to the quality of the accommodation and its location. We were particularly grateful for the basket of food left for us,
Thank you Karen and David. N/A

- Guest (10/5): A fabulous property in a wonderful location and highly recommend. - Great location and a terrific property. Spotlessly clean and a real bonus to have breakfast cereal, milk, butter as well as tea and coffee available. There was nothing we didn’t like.
- Theresa (10/5): Fabulous place - The location
It was dog friendly
Friendly owners
- Anna (10/5): Soul soothing! - Everything; space, rooms, gardens, surroundings, hosts. Lovely stay! Can not think of anything that wasn't good.
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Tobias (9/5): Superb -
- Susanna (10/5): Brilliant! - Karen and David Irving could not have been more welcoming and friendly. As I was discovering my family history on Bute, they were happy to help and share their knowledge of the Island and its history. On arrival there was an array of breakfast items left for us, and Karen also asked if we would like Smoked Salmon, or Sausages and bacon left for us. Bread, Eggs, Milk, a selection of cereals and coffee pods were already there. We arranged for Karen to cook us dinner one night, and were absolutely delighted by it. We are really happy to recommend this property. Nothing
- Michelle (10/5): Wonderful stay in fabulous accommodation. Would recommend. - Amazing views, gorgeous accommodation, lovely hosts. Nothing

- Roy (10/5): Great - Property was lovely, photos don’t do it justice
- Shirley (10/5): Hosts were commuative helpful and friendly and at the same time giving you privacy. Dog friendly which is important to u - Everything, perfect location to explore Bute. The property gives you everything and more for a tranquil, luxury, and relaxing stay. Nothing
- John (10/5): - Fantastic self catering cottage on an outstanding estate.
- Robert (9/5): Spacious, bright and calm house with amazing views - The house is very spacious and lovingly decorated. The downstairs living room and sleeping room with en-suite bathroom are bright, comfortable and relaxing and the upstairs rooms were the perfect getaway for the kids.
If you step out on the private terrace you might see some cows (certainly hear them), sheep, deers and rabbits.
On the other side, in front of the main house, we had a magnificent and breathtaking view of the Isle of Arran.
- Douglas (10/5): Exceptional - Karen and David were very friendly. Best thing was the view. So many good books and a piano. The coach house was very spacious, and island life was great too. Only a population of 7,500. I liked the small museum in Rothesay and my wife liked the factory shop at Bute fabrics. As the previous couple left, the husband whispered to me, 'You're entering the danger zone. Hide your credit card.' He was right. The midges. Our Jungle Formula was only partially successful.
- Deborah (10/5): Relaxing 3 days feels like we have had a week away. - Fantastic location with lovely gardens. The property was very clean and had everything you would need for your stay. Karen and David are excellent hosts and nothing was a bother for them. David knowledge of Bute was very helpful. We will definitely return. There was nothing to dislike about our stay.
- Alistair (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrea (8/5): Fantastic welcome and supplies really appreciated! - Spacious and great access to the garden space- great to be able to have the dog stay too!

- Heather (10/5): - This place is like one out of a fairytale. Most spacious! The property owner cooked amazing l meals and brought them to the room herself! They are wonderful people to meet! There are so many places within walking distance to see and enjoy in the area. The people who lived on the island are so very kind and gracious! Absolutely stunning home! Full of jacobite history for those Outlander fans! It was the best vacation i could have ever wished for!
- John (10/5): It was on my list for a number of years, well worth the visit. Thank you Karen. - The property was exceptional, full of character and charm. It also had views a landscape painter would die for. Sorry no problems, just the way I like it.
- Anne (4/5): beautiful location, significant update required - location very poor comfort (sofa and bed) and property desperately needs proper maintenance. Kitchen cupboards broken and not well equipped.
- Amanda (10/5): best stay ever - The property was beautiful. it had all the amenities that you need to make your stay comfortable. Beds were comfortable, the breakfast pack was great quality and the garden was huge. Karen and her husband were the loveliest people.
- Colin (10/5): - Beautiful property, communication with Karen was fantastic..she was very responsive. The property is gorgeous and the views are amazing.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional - It was mainly self catered but they left us some delicious local smoked trout and plenty of other things for breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful setting and lovely host
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location. Bright and airy. Temperamental boiler, difficult to retain steady flow of hot water. Smell from boiler quite nauseating. Floor in kitchen in poor condition. WiFi virtually nonexistent. Unfortunately not value for money.
- Steve (10/5): Stuart House Isle of Bute - Fantastic location with top of the range fixtures and fittings
A very relaxing few days away from the chaos of Christmas
Well recommended
- Mary M. (10/5): Fantastic - A five star property with all the amenities, nestled in a quiet estate location. The cottage is spacious and well appointed with a spa like feel. Our hosts were welcoming, friendly and accommodating.
- Paula (10/5): Beautiful Coach House - Spacious, comfortable, beautiful grounds, stunning views and warm welcome from hosts. A peaceful and relaxing stay at The Coach House and a welcome base from which to explore the island and the Cowal Peninsula. Some special extra touches made all the difference and were most appreciated.

- Svava (10/5): A wonderful Sanctuary. - Gorgeous cottage with dramatic views in a stunning, rural setting. Lovely rooms, well equipped and beautifully appointed.
