Guest Reviews
- Leslie (10/5): - The property is basic but good. Beds good. Kitchen good. Shared bathrooms. Close to airport. 5 min drive to airport car rental drop off.
- Thuan (8/5): - Ok for one night stay before heading to the airport
- Sam (10/5): Great staff - Very well located for the airport. Staff were excellent
- Dolan (10/5): - Close and convenient access to the airport.
- Ditto (10/5): - Fist of all- I’m so grateful for this place. Even though I flew in at midnight by myself, it was safe and a very expensive taxi took me straight to the Guesthouse. No one was at the reception desk but there were clear markings to phone someone and they told me exactly what to do and I was in bed within 10 minutes. My room was small but had everything I needed minus a toilet of course. I understood that and I had a great sleep and it was quiet. Breakfast the next morning was interesting. It was like I was showing up at my grandma‘s house and she was still sleeping so I had to fetch for myself which was fine. They had a wide range of food and things so anyone can find something satisfactory and I was most pleased. The bathrooms are very clean And Lukas was particularly kind. He personally helped me find a way to the RKV domestic airport. He was so patient and accommodating. The feel of the place was quite ugly because they also house parked cars for long term parking. This is a great place to crash for a night but the price is way too much for this hostile. If they fixed the rotted out doors from water damage, put up barriers to block the cars or parked them away from the hotel, if they organised the kitchen better and added a hallway rug runner (for noise), and provided free airport shuttle, it would be 5 stars all the way around. .
- Miguel (8/5): Great overnight for an early flight. - Clean and comfortable small room
- Thomas (10/5): - I could walk to the nearby Baptist church, but a guesthouse location closer to the airport would have been nice too.
- Evelin (6/5): - it’s ok for one night 👌
- Kermit (8/5): - A decent place to stay for a night before catching a flight from KEF. Shared bathrooms need more hooks to hang clothes and towels!
- Gobinder (6/5): - Not a very clean place to stay .
- Brynn (10/5): - Clean and close to the airport!
- Cliff (10/5): - The room was small but had the essentials. Bathrooms are communal. Showers are nice. It's everything you would expect from a place that is not super expensive yet has most everything essential. Check in is super convenient. You are sent a room number and lock code. Walk in and find your room. Easy peezy
- Bonita (8/5): - Expensive and spartan. About normal for Iceland
- Janette (6/5): - Close to the airport (5 min) was nice. But $350+ for a very soft twin bed and a shared bathroom was excessive. And $37 for a shuttle to the airport is also very pricey given it’s only a 5 min drive
- tashawna (8/5): Just a long layover stay - The hotel had emailed me the check in code for my rooms the day before since there isn't a front desk attendant. Check in went smoothly. In that email sent they said there was a charge for breakfast. I almost paid that charge but good thing I waited because the breakfast was barely anything. The hot water for the tea was cold. There was only sliced bread that you can toast and some fruit. Definitely not worth paying for. My advise is being good with you because they do have a microwave. The cleaning lady doesn't speak any English but we were able to communicate enough for her to provide a European plug adapter. The one I had did not fit their plugs. But it was quiet. Only 2 other guests I saw but pretty much empty. Room did get warm enough and shower was hot.
- Carlie (4/5): - The only pro about the Kef guesthouse is the location in proximity to the airport. The parking lot is also an airport car park, so it is hard to find parking. Our room was dirty - hairs all in the sheets and pillows, dirt/dust all over the floor and night stand. The other guests were very noisy through all hours of the night . The curtains are not blackout, so during the summer it was light in the room all night long. Would not recommend it.
- Hao (10/5): - Great value for an overnight stay near the airport. Clean and safe.
- Kevin (10/5): - The facilities were nice, and the staff were very helpful. It’s not the Guesthouse’s fault, but transportation from the airport and to anywhere around the area is limited and pricey. I guess that’s just the nature of things there. Otherwise, my needs were satisfied.
- Sowmya (6/5): - Best part was that it was very close to the airport. Our beds were clean and convenient. We booked room with private bathroom and the bathroom did have an odour, also lacked soap and shampoo which the housekeeping provided on request.
- Robert (10/5): - The location is very convenient to the KEF international airport. It is about 3 km from the airport. We had a room for four, with a queen bed and two bunk beds for the kids. The beds were comfortable. The room was clean and comfortable, but a little small. We were just there to sleep before our morning flight. The shared bathrooms were clean. It is a car park so there were lots of cars around the building. We did not opt for the breakfast.
- Chris (8/5): - Guesthouse provides a stopover for the airport but little else. Reception isn't necessary as the code to the room is emailed in advance. Location is in a carpark on the edge of town with no local facilities. However, the guesthouse is clean and functional and the beds were comfortable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very simple, no frills or amenities. Convenient to airport.
- Laverne (10/5): Great place close to the airport! - The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and they had plenty of bathrooms (3) for the number of rooms at the guesthouse. It is a great location if you need a place before an early flight out in the morning.
- Feena (8/5): good, would stay again. - this guesthouse is in a convenient and good location for the airport with an airport shuttle also! lovely man who took us to the airport.
the facilities such as shower and kitchen were good. beds where comfy and rooms big enough.
the only downfall was the leather headboards were coming apart and the pillows and bed become covered in leather from this which is uncomfortable and itchy.
- Tally (10/5): - Nothing fancy, but great for a place close to the airport. Clean and good night’s sleep.
- Daniel (6/5): - It's very basic, it serves the purpuse
- Alex (10/5): - I was treated well with respect and help when required. Thank you cheers
- Natalya (8/5): - It is like hostel; nice rooms but shared bathrooms, no amendities, but kitchen that can be used mostly all day; if you just need place to sleep. They rent cars next door, can help with taxi/tours and deliveries. Requavik is 1 hour away, Airport is 15 min away. Amazing views from this hotel.
- Megan (6/5): - The room is adequate and it's nice that you get an in-room sink, but there are not toilets in all rooms. All toilets and showers are together, and there are only 3 of them. It is very likely that they will all be in use at the same time, which is frustrating. It would be nice if there was even just one toilet separately to avoid this issue. They are also wet bathrooms, meaning the shower isn't fully enclosed and water gets everywhere. I found it difficult to figure out how to keep my clothes dry and also not track water everywhere after I got out. They provide a large squeegee for the floor, but it was still a challenge. You have to pay for breakfast separately and quite frankly it's not worth the extra cost. They keep refrigerated things (such as cream cheese, juice, hard boiled eggs, etc) in a cooler, which (at least when I was there) doesn't work, so they sit unrefrigerated for hours. I decided that was too risky and went for the shelf stable breakfast items, but again it wasn't really worth the extra cost. There is a large fridge in the kitchen which I used to keep a couple small items cold while I was there. The rooms themselves are adequate but basic; usually there is a TV in most places, but that was not the case here. It wasn't the end of the world, but worth mentioning. Also, it snowed quite heavily right as I was arriving and just outside the entrance door turned to ice. That was not cleared or salted by the time I left, so it was very slick. Stay in Reykjavik.
- Justin (4/5): - Our room was switched last minute and we weren't notified so it was a little bit stressful when we couldn't access our room late at night. Luckily the online support was quick and we were able to get the correct check-in information and find our room.
- CINDY (10/5): - Clean, comfortable , great location, and affordable!
- David (10/5): - Did exactly what it said on tin - good value - kitchen to prepare your own food. Share bathrooms were clean. Room was safe and comfortable. Not plush but functional.
- jose lopez (10/5): - great place for a one night stop, near airport, the place is neat and clean
- Lukas (10/5): - Great stay
- Hari (2/5): - My all experience is very bad
- alonso (8/5): - Práctico
- Chian Yee (10/5): - good breakfast spread. there were 3 shared bathrooms, clean and big. However, i would prefer if there were more hooks in the bathroom.
- Roberto (10/5): - Property very well maintain, very clean and basic. Room small, but big enough for a couple. Bed is very comfortable and smell clean. Directions from host were very simple and easy to follow. Got to my room not problem at all.
- Jónína (8/5): Nightsleep - The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was to far from the room, not clean enough and lacking handtowels. We slept good so we are mostly satisfied.
- Maria (10/5): - first time at this place and it was very interesting.
- Scott (10/5): - This was the perfect place to spend the night when we arrived at midnight! It is close to the airport, very clean and overall great!
- Cynthia (4/5): - The condition was not like we pictured. Breakfast was self service with communal food. Bathrooms were nice and updated with heated floors. Very expensive for what is offered.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - One of the two rooms booked had a very strong insecticide smell that would not dissipate. Had staff call the owner/manager and did not get any resolution. This greatly negatively impacted our stay, causing lung/airway irritation making it impossible to get rest.
- Joel (10/5): Nice, clean and quaint - I was only here for an overnight layover, but I was very impressed with the room and property.
I arrived into Iceland way too early to check in to the room so I decided to take a taxi from the airport and wait around until I was able to use the emailed code that the hotel sent me to access my room.
While I was waiting, the cleaner asked if there was anything she could do for me and when I said I was just waiting to access my room, she immediately got the assigned room ready and let me enter early. I was extremely tired from an international flight and her kindness was extremely appreciated.
Just because of the shared bathroom situation, I don't know if this is a place that I would stay in for more than just a couple of days, but for my long overnight layover, it was perfect.
They were also able to call me a taxi in the morning which was very helpful.
Overall, a good place for a long layover
- Katherine (10/5): - Na
- Rebecca (10/5): - Close to airport. Great room but they didn’t deliver promised crib
- Geri (2/5): - Upon arrival when entering our room it smelled so disgusting that I had to call to see if the staff had any spray to make the room smell better( someone had just gone to the bathroom) after 29 minutes someone showed up with spray which was nice. There was no communication with the front desk no one to talk to regarding our breakfast we paid $17 per person. There was a sign that breakfast would be served between 5-10. For what we paid for we were disappointed. Their assortment looked as if they had left it overnight as it was very stale and old looking. I have had many continental breakfast but this was so horrible. This place even had a jail cell, no kidding!!! I should’ve taken a picture. This was a disappointing end to our last night in Iceland. I would highly advise anyone who is looking for a room near the airport to look somewhere else. They even had limited parking as they shared the parking with airport parking. Unbelievable!!!!! Stay away from this one!!!
- AMIT (2/5): - Just avoid it. Pay little bit more and stay at proper place. This is hostel like set up.
- Dan (10/5): - Clean and good place to just sleep the night if you have an early morning flight the next day
- Amikam (10/5): - All was basic and fine, service was nice and helpful.
- Giuliano (10/5): - The hotel is very nice, the rooms are clean and the staff is amicable. The hotel is ideal for those with connecting flights. The area is not very walkable but other than that we had an excellent stay.
- Michelle (10/5): Better than a layover in airport - Myself into family members were needing a place to sleep for a few hours during a layover. This place was self check in very close to the airport extremely comfortable beds spotlessly clean no complaints.
- Stacy (8/5): - Convent place to stay the day we arrived in Iceland. At first I thought the heated bathroom floor was a really nice amenity . . . Until we tried to sleep. the room was small enough that that heated floor kept the whole room too hot even with the windows open. Closing the bathroom door helped a little, but it would have been better if we could just turn down the heat.
- TEREZA (10/5): - Very friendly
- Ryan (6/5): - There isn't a front desk, it's designed as a self check-in property. However, I didn't receive check-in instructions via email so I ended up having to call to find out which room was mine and to get the key code. It is also a busy car park for the nearby airport. So when I arrived there was no where to park.
Very noisy in the hallway late at night.
- ERIC (10/5): - Staff was great. Convenient location.
- Lisa (10/5): - Beds very comfortable. Not fancy. Just what we needed for a one night stay
- Kyle (4/5): - There are better options around. The place is noisy with thin walls and doors. Service was poor...they were supposed to send self check in directions and did not. They didn't provide them when I emailed them directly. I finally got it when I called them on the phone.
- Loreylin (8/5): - Self chexked was convenient. Kitchen was clean as well.as their WC. I would recommmend. It is close enough to the airport but you need to pay for the shuttle.
- Miroslav (8/5): - Close to airport
- Ra (6/5): - Facility is close to airport , so convenient especially if you have an early morning flight. and family room we stayed in was reasonable good.
Otherwise everything else was very average. Bathrooms were very unclean. Parking was cramped and crowded. We did not use kitchen. Fridge was unkept.
And rare was not cheap either.
- kenneth (6/5): - It’s nothing special basic needs
- Abigail (6/5): - It did the trick for an over night layover, but you’re definitely getting what you pay for. Noisy through out the night, and my room was positioned where I could see the light from the reception desk through my curtain so that kept me up as well. Staff were friendly and helpful when needed. Transport from airport was $20 USD, but at least to the airport it was free. I couldn’t find towels in my room or in the common bathroom, so I wasn’t able to make use of the shower.
- Johann (10/5): Great Location for Airport! - The hotel has excellent location for passengers who will take flights soon. It is actually a Guesthouse not really a Hotel. For the purpose, it is great. Basic services provided, breakfast included.
- Eric (10/5): - Great, quiet place to stop for the night before heading out into Iceland. Modern bathroom, comfortable beds, and a simple self-service checkin.
- Jennifer (8/5): - We had a late flight and were meeting friends the next day to travel throughout Iceland. It was a very convenient property to meet. It was easy to take an Uber from the airport. The room was clean.
- Jim (4/5): - We reserved two family rooms to accommodate our large group. When we arrived, one of the rooms was occupied. The staff on hand seemed really confused how that would happen. We were only there one night and they found a couple beds for those that didn’t fit in our one room. However, they refused to accommodate any price changes based on an incorrect narrative that was told by the staff that helped us out in order for the staff to not get in trouble.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good for early morning flights from Keflavik - Close proximity to airport, easy check in and check out, hassle free.
One of our two rooms lacked heat, so that was a minus, but overall, it worked for us.
- TAQWA (10/5): - Guesthouse near to the airport.
Did not received the check in details including door password. Have to call the service centre.
Overall easy check in.
- Joey M C (6/5): Enjoyable overnighter for early KEF flight - Overnighter for early KEF flight to London. Easy to locate and nearby eating places and a Bonus for last minute shopping. Good size room for 4 for last minute packing with a nice attached bathroom. Shared kitchen always open with coffee, tea and juices available. There's even a prison cell within the guesthouse! Free parking but WiFi in room not very strong. We were surprised breakfast was spread out at 6am as were not told it was provided though we did not consume. Overall, a great night's stay. Will be back when in town again.
- John (10/5): - Loved it, perfect for what we needed. Great sleep during long layover. Near the airport.
- Jennifer (8/5): - Easy access and communication. Comfortable and modern.
- Robin (8/5): - Very basic, but nice and clean facility. If you just want a bed for a night near the airport, this place is fine.
- Jon (6/5): - Exterior property is a airport parking lot and could use some work, but the rooms are clean and good enough for a short stay. Great airport access.
- Jessica (10/5): - Very close to train station! Great location! No AC had a fan but at night we cooled down the room by opening the window! Would recommend
- Guillaume (2/5): - This accommodation was somehow the most expensive and at the same time the worst one in our 2 week Iceland trip. Shared bathroom was filthy, no staff at reception desk for hours on end, difficult check in, etc. Shuttle service to the airport for 3500 krona offered, we took a cab and it cost 3100 krona, they straight up try to rip you off. Avoid this place if at all possible.
- Robert (6/5): - Not enough share bathrooms and toilets for all the guests in the guest house; end up waiting a while when all bathrooms are used. Also shower rooms had no door or curtain that made the whole bathroom floor wet and toilet is next to shower
- Sarah (4/5): Suffocating night - We stayed in Family Room #12. When we arrived the blinds were up for all 4 windows with the sun shining in. Normally this would be great, but the room was stifling and only 1 of the windows opened...a measly 6 inches, to let some air in.
My entire family felt like they were suffocating all night as we could never cool the room down.
To make matters worse there was an awful stench of urine in our private bathroom. I'm going to assume it's from the septic tank but the public bathroom in the hallway next to our room had no such smell.
Lastly, this hotel also runs a long-term car parking business. So cars were EVERYWHERE....good luck to the people that were actually staying there to find a spot close to a door to unload their car.
The photo of an expansive lot around this hotel that you see on this site is not at all what we encountered.
- Lynne (10/5): - Great people! Room was very clean.
- Kristina (8/5): - Close to the airport.
- Dallas (4/5): - Only one shower for the whole place works. No staff available morning or night.
- bethany (10/5): - Close to airport. Clean and good value for family of four
- Dallas (6/5): - Property is clean and room just fine. Only 1 of the three shared bathrooms had a working shower and this wasn’t a new issue by the looks of things. Breakfast was fine for this kind of place and everything was clean. I was literally never able to find a host when arriving or leaving. Also, they would not refund or allow a date change when I realized 10 minutes after booking that I had booked the wrong week. Literally 10 minutes- nope. Boo.
- Maggie (10/5): - Easy, clean, convenient
- Nicholas (8/5): Nice for a nap - Our flight came in at 5am. We used this hotel (private room, shared bathroom) for a nap before our adventures and it served us well for what we needed and the price was nice. I wouldn’t stay here any much longer than a night (nothing against the hotel) because of the small room size. I was unfortunately woken up to room services trying to enter the room an over an hour before check out despite me yelling through the door, they proceeded to try to enter. I wont hold it against them to try to enter but being persistent through my yell was odd.
- Judita (10/5): - Near the airport
- Michelle (10/5): - Very clean. Convenient to get to, friendly staff.
- Fynn (8/5): - Facilities and kitchen were great. Room was good, but bed wasn’t so clean
- Matthew (8/5): Convenient - Close to the airport, main road and Blue Lagoon. It was self check-in and they e-mailed me a code for the door (not key). We used the kitchen for evening meal and there was drone free food in there, left by others. Breakfast was plentiful and included fruit, spreads, cereal and a waffle maker. The room was smart and clean with a sink in it. 3 bathrooms to about 14 rooms and we had no issues. Free off-street parking.
- ?? (6/5): - 遠い
- Kiersten (8/5): Nice guesthouse but stinky - Nice rooms, what you would expect, clean and comfortable. Nice breakfast, plenty of parking, easy access to rooms with a code. Only issue was a strong trine odor and mold. The smell of the bathroom in our room was overwhelming, particularly if the door was open or ajar. Otherwise, nice people and good hotel/guesthouse.
- Kiersten (8/5): Nice guesthouse, comes with odor - Nice guesthouse, close to airport, friendly staff, easy to find, right off main road, breakfast, tidy appearance. Only issue was the smell. The bathrooms smelled like urine, we could smell it in the corridor to the rooms and if bathroom door was left open in room, the smell was overwhelming. The ceiling had mold so the combined odor gave us a sore throat and headache. They were kind enough to offer a late checkout due to afternoon flight but we left early due to the odor, mold and headaches. Maybe a little bleach around the toilets and ceiling would be beneficial. Otherwise, nice staff and room/facilities as expected.
- Lane (10/5): - Very nice room for the cost. Easy to come and go as you please.
- Jacqueline (8/5): - Overall, it was nice, quiet and close to the airport. My only negative review is that the bathroom floods when you shower. We had to take super quick shower because it flooded so quickly we had to use towels to stop the flooding.
- Mark (10/5): - I liked how we could go right to our room and use a code to get in. The room was spacious and clean. Good variety for breakfast.
- Mary (8/5): - Comfortable but small room with no private bathroom
- Dominik (8/5): - Great place for early flight
- Kimberly A (10/5): - Absolutely wonderful ❤️
