Guest Reviews
- Natasha (10/5): Stay here if you want understated luxury and great food whilst visiting the Atlas Mountains - It is a small boutique, relaxed yet high quality hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Carol is lovely. The owner was very friendly too. The food was delicious and they changed the evening menu daily. Breakfast was also great - ask for the menu on the first day as we weren’t sure what was on offer. They organised a great day’s hike in the Atlas Mountains and we had lunch in a local home which was really good! Leaving!
- Christopher (9/5): Memorable stay in beautiful and tranquil hotel. tranquil retreat. - Stunning location in foothills of mountains. Tranquil and serene gardens with lovely pools. Helpful and attentive staff. Nothing not to like but being picky perhaps breakfast / evening menus could be more varied / imaginative.
- Charlotte (10/5): Exceptionnel - Endroit magnifique.
- Alexa (9/5): Gerne wieder - tolles Hotel. - Tolles Zimmer, sehr gute Gastgeberin, hervorragendes Essen. Es gab nichts zu bemängeln.
- Hannah (10/5): -
- Françoise (7/5): -
- Serena (9/5): Very relaxing just what we wanted - Peaceful location with stunning views
- PETER G (7/5): Peaceful location, friendly staff, great pool areas and super comfortable rooms - 5 star potential!! - The setting and privacy of each room/accommodation area is very private. Layout is spacious but not too removed from key areas like restaurant for all meals and pools. Nice touches with open fires lit upon request in rooms. No TV - quiet library and cinema areas, massage options. Good wine selection. This is really critical but I feel important for an establishment that aspires to be rated 5 star! . Restaurant staff appeared rather laid back at times, with tables not cleared or unprepared at meal times. The food choice at breakfast was disappointing - and bread was mainly white - few whole grain options. Most warm food was served on cold plates and food was often Luke warm or cold e.g. fish cakes were frozen in the middle for one meal. Most meals were clearly prepared well in advance and were served rapidly once ordered.

- Anne (10/5): A very relaxing stay with fabulous spa treatments.Food was amazing. - Wonderful hotel with lovely staff, great pools and delicious food. Nothing
- Mike (10/5): - The breakfast was nice and light with fresh fruit, breads and eggs cooked to order. Lunch was also light and varied, served (weather permitting) on a sunny terrace. Dinner was limited choice but it did change every day and there was always something for everyones taste served to a reasonably high standard. Service was excellent with very friendly and efficient service. Management was always visible and quick to respond to any queries or requests. The spa was excellent and the staff were very skilful. The decor was understated with muted colours but very tasteful. Also there were welcoming open fires in the. mainrooms and restaurants. There were even open fires in your rooms which would be lit on request. Overall a delightful, relaxing experience with beautiful surroundings and spectacular views.
- Francesca (7/5): Mixed experience - Beautiful and impeccably maintained garden and pool area, with many comfortable places to relax.
Very warm welcome from Carol, who greets guests individually.
Dinner was excellent on some evenings.
The hotel kindly allowed us to store our luggage at their Marrakech location before our flight. We had expected a remote and quiet countryside location; however, the property is situated next to a relatively busy road, and our terrace overlooked it, that was disappointing. We could hear the vehicles drive by. Perhaps this is less of an issue with other rooms.
While the exterior is very well maintained, the interior does not match the same standard. Paintwork in our room was poorly finished, and there were large humidity stains on the restaurant ceiling. It made the atmosphere feel neglected and was unexpected for the price range of the hotel.
We were happy that there was a fireplace in the room for rainy days, but it was badly ventilated or constructed. After a few hours of use we felt sick from the smoke and had to leave the room. We had a similar experience in the library.
There were few fresh products at breakfast: bread was only served grilled, pancakes seemed reheated, pastries were not fresh on two of the four days, no yoghurt/cereals (only available upon request, but we found out late).
We had an unprofessional spa experience, unfortunately.
- Georgina (10/5): Truly amazing - Stunning views, exceptional food and the friendly staff made our stay a wonderful experience Nothing!
- Donaldson (9/5): A tranquil oasis of peace and luxury. - View of the snow topped mountains, lovely bedding, lights and ceramics in the room.
Breakfast was very good and dining room was lovely with the open fire.
Beautiful flower arrangements everywhere. Gardens were very well maintained. Lovely pool area with towels and cushions to make sitting out very comfortable.
- Antoine (9/5): Very good experience! Relaxing. - Breakfast excellent! Perfect location to unwind. Great views of the Atlas Mountains. Massage was very good. Some of the staff wore Capaldi Hoodies which dont really go with the atmosphere/ambiance.
- Sophie (9/5): - Lovely service, great food and cocktails and stunning views
- Natalie (10/5): Lovely, peaceful, boutique hotel. Highly recommend. Book it, you won’t regret it! - Gorgeous hotel, really peaceful. Well proportioned with private nooks and day beds all over the place, so lots of choice of where to go. You can be around other guests or have privacy as you choose. Staff were lovely & couldn’t do enough for you. I realised I had left my hair brush at home, they rang a driver & got him to pick one up for me. Owners mix with the guests & the hotel manager too, checking how your stay is going, very personal experience.
The food was fantastic. Menu changes every day. 3 choices of starter, main course & 2 choices of pudding. We really liked this as we chose things we wouldn’t have normally & everything was delicious. Really, really exceptional food.
We were very unfortunate with the weather, it was overcast, cold & raining every day. However, there are fires lit everywhere & the spa was fantastic, lots of availability, so we had a great stay.
ALL the staff were friendly, warm and welcoming, from the breakfast staff to the cleaners to the spa staff. The hotel attracts great guests, we met some very interesting people. We left after 4 nights for our next hotel; which is a 5* extremely exclusive hotel at 5 x the cost & honestly we wanted to return to the Capaldi as soon as we checked into our next hotel! We were seconds away from calling the driver & telling him to come back for us! The bed was a bit hard & very squeaky, so it didn’t make for the best night sleep. The pillows separated into nothing so I woke up with a bad neck. Minimal toiletries, no conditioner in the room etc. I think slippers in the room would be a good idea & the doorway is low, my husband hit his head on it on the first day, definitely didn’t make that mistake again! To put it into context though, it was a great stay and we would stay again. The room is a great size & decorated beautifully & minimally.
- heneghan (10/5): - The hotel's design and gardens are aesthetically beautiful. The staff is welcoming, helpful, effective and responsive. Carol, the manager, is a delight. The owners are friendly, natural and interested.
- KAKAL (7/5): Globalement une belle expérience - Emplacement et vue
Structure à taille humaine avec service personnalisé Deco désuète .
Chambre insuffisamment entretenue
Manque de personnel
- Andreou (10/5): A relaxing stay near the Atlas Mountains - Located in a lovely location with wonderful views of the atlas mountains
Staff were kind courteous and nothing was too much trouble Location and very clean and tidy and room was stunning
- Eileen (9/5): Loved the place if I was to stay again I’d visit when it’s warmer weather. - Lovely The room was a bit cold the radiator didn’t get very warm
- Frank (9/5): Nice comfortable change away from the hustle and bustle of Marakesh - Wonderful views and location , fires in all rooms
- Duelger (10/5): Traumhaft - Die Aussicht die Anlage und das Essen waren hervorragend auch die SPA Anwendungen
- Joanne (10/5): The Capaldi is a gorgeous, calming retreat after the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. - The grounds, swimming pools and communal areas were all absolutely gorgeous and the staff so friendly and helpful. We did the half day hike in the Atlas which was a great way to learn about the surrounding area and customs. The food was excellent, in a gorgeous setting and very good value for money. Total luxury!
- Tom (10/5): 10/10 - Stunning resort, spacious comfortable rooms and offer tailored excursions to nearby Atlas Mountains (highly recommend Moad!). Staff incredibly accommodating particularly Carol (the Leo Messi of hotel managers). 10/10 food and made a special vegan menu. Highly recommend and will be back
- Amy (8/5): - This hotel feels like a little paradise - with stunning views on the Atlas Mountains.
The food was outstanding, the beds were comfortable, the design of the hotel amazing. At the time of our visit I was sick - they tried everything helping me too. Very nice! We would recommend this hotel to anyone - with one minus. Several restaurant staff members were unfriendly/lazy/ not well trained.
- jane (9/5): Definitely recommend - Great breakfast and fantastic staff Nothing
- Gerben (9/5): -
- yvonne (9/5): Just book it. - This was our 3rd visit to this beautiful hotel.
The weather was awful and my husband was very unwell for the whole week, so if we were anywhere else, it could have been an awful time, but luckily we were at the Capaldi, where even if it rains every day, there are lovely lounges with roaring fires, a library, cinema and the suite also had a comfy sofa and fireplace which the staff were quick to light and restock whenever we liked. A pile of books and lots of restorative naps took the place of the usual hikes in the hills, or walks to the lakes.
The staff are the stars of the Capaldi, everyone from the friendly waiters to the ever cheerful Carol were always kind and keen to help.
No review of the Capaldi would be complete without mentioning the food. It is a very, very high standard along the lines of excellent French and Italian dinners but there was usually a Moroccan dish available too.
The cocktails are also great.
All in all, what could have been a rubbish week was saved by the hotel equivalent of a caring hug. Thank you, and we’ll be back
- Eva (9/5): -
- Christian (9/5): -
- claire (10/5): Stunning, peaceful hotel - Beautiful property with views of the atlas mountains. The pools were inviting and sun beds comfy and spacious. It felt like it was quiet even though the hotel was full. Our room was large with a huge comfy bed and lovely bathroom. The food was delicious and varied and I loved how they would able to tweak for us with our fussy teens. We did the half day hike which we found really interesting. We also did the dune buggying which we all loved. The service was excellent and
so friendly. I would love to come back to the Capaldi. It’s not often you find a hotel as special as this. I think the bread and pastries at breakfast would be nicer served warm but that’s a tiny detail.
- David (10/5): -
- Kitty (10/5): Fantastisch verblijf! -
- NIMOL OLIVIA (9/5): -
- Ingrid (9/5): - Anlage sehr stilvoll, Personal äusserst aufmerksam und freundlich alles war gut
- Joan (10/5): Excellent - So relaxing and tranquil after Marrakesh, felt very safe on the extensive hotel grounds. We had booked the basic farmhouse room but were upgraded to one with a terrace and garden. Gorgeous room, spacious with rosemary scented toiletries.
Lovely little heated pool and a basic gym. Great restaurant for lunch and dinner using local prodce with cocktails and wine. Husband did the all day hiking and had a great time. We walked to the lake and had a very nice lunch at La Flouka a couple of times, taxi back is 100 dinar.
Ed and Tara the owners are a visible presence and make sure all the guests are happy, other staff also very good. There isn’t a huge amount to do in the area - but we were quite happy with that.
Breakfast could do with a bit of variation and I think orange juice is from a carton.
No kettle in the room, but you could probably ask for one.
- Julie (8/5): Dreamy oasis in a dreamy setting. Would highly recommend a visit if you want a recharge. - Authentic charm, staff couldn’t do enough and extremely warm, fabulous 2 pools (one cold and one warm), food delicious, comfortable bed, great shower, great terrace with views of Atlas Mountains and excellent half day trip arranged through the hotel into the mountains. I am a coeliac and had advised the hotel in advance and despite mentioning twice on the first day (after having no bread with first evening meal and no pancake on morning one) it still took until the last evening meal/breakfast to get it perfect hence the 4* review. I would have bought provisions in Agadir if I’d known.
- molly (8/5): Amazing food and lovely people. - The staff, manager Ed and the facilities were great.
The perfect place to just chill and enjoy. Thes best part for us was the food and interiors. I would say our room was a bit dark but other than that no complaints - all lovely
- Leijser (8/5): -
- camilla (9/5): -
- Creamy 7777 (8/5): - The grounds and the room relax your senses. Carol is a very warm person willing to help with advice about the area.
Dinner is good and well-presented. About breakfast, I got the feeling that the pancakes on the second day were not very fresh as the fisrt day they were warm and not cut like that. Fruit is beautiful to be served like that but I find it more hygenic to cut a piece myself.
When we checked out the price of the room was calculated at an approximate rate of the euro, which means that as a final calculation I paid about 25 euro more than it was stated by Booking.com. Not a big deal but no other place did this and we stayed at about 10 places in the Morocco. The place has a huge potential. It is beautiful and not very cheap so I think that if they improve these details, they will have more benefit than harm.
- Sally (10/5): Really lovely 3 days. - A beautiful hotel only 45 minutes from Marrakech Airport, in a quiet peaceful area near to the mountains. Two fab outdoor swimming pools, one heated, one not. Great breakfast and evening meals. Staff very friendly. Would definitely recommend.
- Sally (10/5): A perfect small family run hotel in a tranquil location where we could relax and enjoy all that Morocco has to offer. It - The family feel and unpretentious elegance. The hotel is perfectly situated where we enjoyed the tranquility of the countryside, the Atlas Mountains, but within a 30 mins taxi ride of Marrakech. The only small point is the final bill is not itemised and guests are not asked to sign for food/drinks….over a few days it is tricky to track what you have spent.
- Tore (9/5): - Very nice hotel, fantastic staff
- Iain (9/5): Very good. An unusual location but great facilities and accommodation. - Spacious and beautifully designed room combining Moroccan and contemporary styling. Large attractive garden grounds with 2 pools (the largest being very large) and restaurant with various areas for sitting for drinks. Food was excellent (apart from the night we forgot to request a vegetarian option). Location is a complete contrast from the hotel itself. The area is arid as it is on the edge of the Agafay desert. Proximity to the lake adds some diversity apart in addition to desert activities, but the main event is probably the hotel itself. If you are vegetarian, make it clear so that they can think ahead. The first night we were there, I ordered steak which was excellent, apart from the fact that they clearly stole my vegetables in a panic to decorate the rather bland risotto which my wife had to order from the meat orientated menu. The second night, she had her own menu and it was excellent.
- Sonja (10/5): A beautifully relaxing stay. - An oasis in the desert, such beautiful grounds. Loved that it remained true to traditional Moroccan style. The food was delicious and the hotel manager was attentive. Liked everything
- Rachel (10/5): Amazing . Loved it - It was Amazing Nothing
- Matthew (10/5): - Stunning! Very relaxed and private. Thank you to Carol and her team for looking after us so well.
- Nicola (10/5): Very chilled and relaxing -
- Jaxxxx (10/5): - Amazing place Nothing
- Philip (9/5): Excellent find and very tranquil - Excellent dinners, calm environment, staff service, sundowners the breakfast eggs tasted of nothing!
- Sara (10/5): Perfect honeymoon destination - Excellent and attentive service. Beautiful location and setting, well curated and unique but also authentic. Very clean and comfortable spaces. Great food.
- Paul (10/5): Quite and relaxing with great food - We spent 2 nights here after 5 days in Marrakesh what a great chose absolute peace and quite to allow us to relax before our trip home. This Was perfect for that. The food here was amazing and only a 40 to 50 minute drive from Marrakesh. There are not many hotels where the Manager (Carol) walks around every day and speaks to every guest and where the owners ask you what you think of there hotel. We will be returning. Nothing
- Nick (9/5): An oasis of calm in the desert. - After a hectic visit to Marrakesh we were picked up the the Capaldi driver and taken the 45mins out to the hotel. We were greeted by the effervescent Carol and guided around the hotel. The hotel and grounds are charming and the room in the main hotel building we had over looking the large pool was large comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfasts were adequate albeit a little uninspiring. Quite a large lunch menu with lots of choice. The dinners comprised a small choice of starters, three or so main courses and deserts. The food was delicious and very well presented. The staff were all very helpful and attentive. The hotel arranged a half day trek in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains which was lovely and highly recommended. The spa massages and treatments were great. The hotel was very quiet and a little soleless when we stayed but I imagine has a different vibe if there were more guests were.
Could do with supplying some hotel slippers and possibly a few new towels.
- Johanne (10/5): We are 2 x couples, after a 3 night stay in The Medina Marrakesh we wanted to experience some tranquility after a hectic - We liked everything about this gem of a hotel. Firstly the beautiful deco and then the wonderful landscaped gardens that take you’re breath away the moment you walk through the door, we felt like we had arrived somewhere truly special. Absolutely nothing to dislike about this hotel!
- Nataša (10/5): -
- Kari (7/5): Lovely boutique hotel, far enough from Marrakesh. Needs improvement on sleeping facilities. - Lovely staff. Incredibly accommodating.
Lots of good communication in the lead-up to the trip.
Beautiful, peaceful property. NO KIDS! YAY!
Good breakfast/breads in bread basket could be better / otherwise, fine. Lots of issues with the room:
> very dark - bedroom & bathroom needs more uplighting / doing makeup was a nightmare
> not enough hooks in the bathroom
> The bed was really uncomfortable / very stiff mattress
> environmental footprint - we got new towels & sheets every day - why? totally unnecessary
- Emma (9/5): Tranquil location where you can really switch off and be looked after - Wonderful location, incredibly relaxed atmosphere, total tranquility. Top notch food and all reasonably priced. Great communication from moment of booking and on site. Nothing not to like but the beds were a little hard and it would have been nice to have a coffee machine / kettle in the room.
- Rob (8/5): -
- Camilla (9/5): -

- Oiseau (10/5): Magnifique séjour dans un cadre agréable et chaleureux. Des personnels au petit soin avec un service de qualité. - L’accueil
Le service
Tout était bien
- Jon (10/5): A beautiful gem of a boutique hotel, tranquil, and yet only 40 minutes from Marrakesh. - If you want to wake up and say WOW 20 times per day, then this is the place. Absolutely beautiful tranquility, great facilities and friendliest staff ever. Ed and Carol (front of house) really went the extra mile to make us feel special. Evening meals and wine also very good and very well priced.
We're coming back next year (and the year after) !!! Absolutely nothing !
- Bob (9/5): -
- James (10/5): Everything was more than excellent. The manager Carol bends over backwards to meet your needs and make sure you have an - The hotels in beautiful surroundings with the mountains in the background. The rooms and the general decor is simple, elegant and beautifully done. The staff are all very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Not the best location for doing trips, everything is booked from Marrakech. There are some operators nearby but they’ll charge you European prices.
- Harry (10/5): -
- Sophie (10/5): Such a beautiful hotel. Beautifully decorated and the views of the mountains were great. Very relaxing and enjoyable sta - Beautifully decorated, great views, peaceful, great food and lovely staff Loved everything
- Haitel (9/5): Amazing stay at an amazing hotel - The open space and lovely pools The shower
- Louise (8/5): Fabulous location 40 miles from Marrakesh, amazing service and very peaceful - Carol the Manager was an excellent hostess! Nothing was too much trouble.
Pool beds were excellent.
Service was fantastic in every part of the hotel. No tea coffee making facilities or mini fridge in the room. But available kettle and cups were available when we asked.
- Kimberley (10/5): Amazing fantastic - Everything Masssge a little weak
- Alexandra (10/5): Peaceful, stylish, grown-up boutique oasis hotel. - Food was superb. Location stunning. Very quiet and restful stay. Beautiful setting. Staff very attentive. Transfer was made easy. There's nothing I didn't like about the place! I have just one recommendation and that's for the rooms to have a full-length mirror.
- William (9/5): Superb - Location. Tranquility. Bedroom. Food Spa was only OK. Not to the high standard of the rest of the hotel.
- Linda (9/5): Brilliant staff, superb food, felt very luxurious - Everything was great. Very spacious with many different areas to relax and eat. Nothing
- Birgit (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kelly (10/5): Magical, Unique, Traquil! - I’m not often left speechless but words cannot describe the serenity & beauty of the Capaldi hotel.
From the moment you walk through the gorgeous gates you are treated like royalty. The staff are friendly, efficient and cater to your every need.
The food is beyond compare, the attentiveness of the staff is positively overwelming and the Capaldi experience is unique, tranquil and just perfect.
We love that Ed the owner walks around, chats and gets to know each of his guests, really adding the personal touch to your stay.
The food here is also magical, food flavour on point with every mouthful!
Thank you to everyone at the Capaldi for such a wonderful stay! I only regret that I didn’t stay for longer- I could have stayed forever!

- Sara (9/5): A lovely restful hotel. Everything was perfect for me and I would definitely stay again. - Beautiful quiet location. Lots of seating areas with lovely views of the swimming pools or mountains. Very comfy bed with fluffy duvet and crisp cotton sheets. I loved that the bedroom was sprinkled with rose petals and we had a large vase of flowers in.our bedroom and smaller one in our bathroom. Water bottles and coffee and machine in our room. Lovely soap. Everywhere was noticeably very clean. They organised out taxi to/from the airport. Also a private tour into the mountains. A noticeable nice thing was that our flight wasn't leaving until late afternoon and because our room wasn't needed that evening they said we could keep it until later that afternoon - appreciate this can't always happen but it's great service. The food and service was nice but mediocre.
- Peter (9/5): Excellent accommodation, TOP stay - Top hotel, top and relaxing location, very friendly staff, excellent cuisine. Rare find accommodation that ticks all the boxes for me. Nothing in particular
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional - What a gem, glorious hotel in great setting with views of Atlas mountains and desert. Staff couldn't be more helpful, comfy beds, great food, lovely roof terraces for views, pick up from airport and excursions easily arranged. So much better than being in centre of Marrakech which is in easy reach, 40 mins drive. We will Def go again Nothing
- Alan (10/5): One of the best hotel experiences in 40+ years of travelling - Very thoughtful design and layout, wonderful rooms (junior garden suite), staff were brilliant and food great. A truly memorable experience. Nothing - it was all exceptional
- Jennifer (5/5): Beautiful hotel but disappointing stay - This is a beautifully landscaped and designed hotel with gorgeous pools and views of the mountains. We enjoyed the heated pool and the comfortable sun beds. The breakfast was good, a combination of fresh fruits and bread/pancakes with various jams. While the hotel looked very nice, this was overshadowed by a few negative experiences. First, my husband left his shirt at the pool and it disappeared and couldn’t be found, which was unfortunate. Second, there was a huge cockroach in our bathroom. Third, we didn’t like the strong smell of smoke in our room from the fireplace from previous guests (we never used it). Fourth, we felt the activities offered by the hotel were extremely overpriced (especially knowing that they were being offered at much lower prices if booked directly by the providers - some surcharge is expected for the convenience of booking from the hotel but this was too much for us). We didn’t like the feeling of the huge contrast between the luxury inside the hotel walls and the way people were living in the surrounding area, and we didn’t get the feeling that the high prices were benefiting the local community. The people working at the hotel also didn’t seem particularly happy to be there, and with a few exceptions were not as friendly as some staff we had interacted with at other hotels in Morocco. Dinner at the restaurant was good but didn’t blow us away considering the price and we would have enjoyed some more local food options. So to sum up, while we really wanted to like this hotel, our overall experience was disappointing.
- Duncan (9/5): Superb - Very secluded upmarket establishment Run by Brits Pools Food Cinema Quiet no children
- Judy (10/5): - It is hard to find the right words to explain how magnificent this place is. The location is unique and to be able to see the snow capped Atlas mountains was so amazing. We loved everything about the place and had amazing spa treatments and delicious food. We had both warm and cool weather and got to experience the pools and sitting by the numerous fires. Its a spectacular place and highly, highly recommend staying for at least 3 days.

- Malene (10/5): Beautiful hotel - Great service, the food was great, rooms beautiful and great small and cozy areas.
- Nicolette (9/5): Superb - Lovely hotel situated near the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. Beautiful grounds, spacious rooms, friendly staff, lovely pool. Highly recommended.
- Jane (9/5): Relaxing, comfortable and great food - Beautiful property , well maintained, friendly staff. The food was excellent and offered different dinner menu options everyday.
- Melissa (8/5): Very pleasant and relaxing. - The gardens, pools and space is beautiful. Our room was comfortable. The food was good but not many Moroccan choices.
- Christopher (9/5): Very peaceful and relaxing - Very relaxing with lovely gardens and pool area. Beds were very comfortable. We had two very enjoyable dinners at the restaurant. Breakfast was simple but good. I chose the hotel in order to relax and chill out. It is perfect for this.
I stayed at the hotel in 2019 and preferred the wider food selection on offer at dinner in the restaurant and I felt the service was more attentive, particularly during breakfast or during the day when wanting to order drinks.
- Michael (8/5): Very peaceful and relaxed, all the staff so smiley and helpful -
