Guest Reviews
- Dawn (10/5): Fantastic place to stay, with excellent service - We all had an amazing stay, the staff, Hotel and breakfast were all outstanding. I’d like to give a special mention to Carla and Andre their attention to detail, welcome and help to find restaurants, local amenities were excellent. We’ll definitely be back!
- Rae Ann (10/5): - Easy after hour arrival logistics, and Carla was exceptionally helpful. She provided a great breakfast recommendation and accommodated a late checkout and luggage storage.
- Claude (10/5): - Personnel à la réception exceptionnelle
- Jing (10/5): - The most memorable and best experience of my Porto trip was staying at Charm GH by YourPorto. The location is amazing. The best view of Porto just few yards away. You can walk to the river and the iconic metal bridge.
The room is extremely clean and beautifully setup. The bathroom, the towels, the bedsheets, pillows are all extremely clean and meet the luxury hotel standards. Healthy breakfast with fresh fruits, egg, bakery, cheese…orange juice, tea, and coffee.
Carla is so friendly. I highly recommend stay here when you go to Porto.
- Martin (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful crew
Delicious breakfast
Placed next to the douro river
- Louisa (10/5): - The hotel is truly charming with its stone walls and lovely lobby. Carla, the reception/manager was most helpful and gave great advice on where to go. The room was on the first floor, and she helped me with my suitcases as there is no elevator. The room was spacious and had stone walls with a little patio. I loved this place! You need to schedule breakfast in advance, and it was a delightful array of great things set at tables in the lobby in the mornings.
It was a short walk to the waterfront with so many restaurants and shopping places along the Douro River, and of course, magnificent views of Porto across the river.
There are at least a dozen port or wine cellars about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. I only stayed two nights, and if I had known how interesting Gaia is, I would have scheduled two more nights here.
- Kimberly (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay. The bed was very comfortable, everything was clean. Nice shower with great water pressure. Carla was an excellent host - very helpful!
- Adrienne (10/5): - Outstanding welcoming and caring throughout my stay! Guesthouse is immaculately clean and it is in the best location possible.Carla, my hostess went above and beyond anything I could possibly ask for.
I highly reco
Sentral beliggenhet like inn for elvepromenaden i Gaia.
- Tiffanie (10/5): - I stayed here for 11 days while visiting Porto. It was clean, comfortable, quiet and in a good location. Carla gave me excellent recommendations and was very helpful and knowledgeable.
- Brynne (10/5): - We loved Carla! She was so amazing to us!
- MICHAEL PAUL M (10/5): - We loved this small boutique feel property. Great location on the Gaia (south) side of the river. Truly exceptional service by Carla the host. She was amazing and helpful in every way. Along with the nicely appointed rooms, Carla really made our stay. The only regret we had was that we didn't plan to stay longer! Thank you Carla for making our first trip to Porto memorable. We look forward to a return visit sometime.
- Gail (10/5): - The staff was wonderful making suggestions for restaurants and activities.
Encore merci
Pour ces deux nuits.
- Stephanie (10/5): Fantastic stay - Beautiful room, small but modern, great location, great staff, will definitely be back
- Alan (10/5): Super location - Excellent location, staff brilliant really helpful
Very clean and comfortable
- Sarah (8/5): - Beautiful property and fantastic location, friendly staff. Only downside, noise from other guests as all rooms off the stairwell. Soundproofing would be good.
A localização é excepcional .
- Frank Thomas (10/5): Excelente - Otima estadia.
- Corey (10/5): - Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room in a fantastic location to explore. We loved our stay!
- Garry (8/5): Perfect location for Port:) - Great little gem - really well located close to all the restaurants and port houses in Gaia. Fully enjoyed this stay. Albeit they keep emailing you to fill in a mill things, which could be a bit annoying - the place is lovely and well done up. Our room turned away from the street, so very quiet. We could only hear when people came back or had breakfast. Due to the location we could do that again:)
- michael (10/5): - Everything was Charming
- Hamza (10/5): 5* stay - Stay was class. Room was perfect for a couple and location was amazing. Couldn’t believe it for the price would 10/10 recommend.
- Robert (10/5): - Property was excellent, great location with easy access to the main attractions of old town and many dining options. Carla was an excellent host who went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. Room was very clean and well laid out to maximize the space. Perfect for a couple traveling. Also a convenient clean laundromat just next door as well as a couple corner stores a sandwich shop and a Portuguese restaurant
- Carlo (4/5): - Personale davvero disponibile e gentile.
- ManfromMars,PA (10/5): - The hotel is very close to the wine caves on the south side of Douro river. So lots of wine tasting options.
- Louise (10/5): Perfect location - Small but comfortable rooms. Excellent location. Carla was very welcoming, friendly and professional. Walk across the bridge is easy and pleasant.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Guest House is in a really great location, close to the centre but not too noisy.
- ming-chieh (10/5): - Gooood
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location! Parking garage 1 minute away! Great restaurant across the street!
- Mimi (10/5): - The location was fabulous, with a lovely walk over the bridge to the city of porto. All the staff were lovely people they could not have been more helpful, and made our stay thoroughly enjoyable. We want to thank all of them, and we would definitely stay here again on a return visit to Porto.
Mimi and lissi
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location of this property is exceptional and the staff are unbelievably helpful!
- David (8/5): Porto - Great location, and very helpful staff. Everything was great with the exception of noise from the lobby to the first floor. Suggest staying on floors 2-4 if you are a late sleeper.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Guest house was clean and tidy. Room size was fair, and location is great. Unfortunately wifi did not work.
- Martin (10/5): - Great location, very clean and nice staff. I recommend for a nice stay in Porto.
- Sheilah (6/5): convenient location - Convenient location close to tourist sites. But was a nightmare to find when arriving by car with a maze of tiny one way streets! Staff welcoming on arrival but generally were not around property during the day. Room comfortable if a little small.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent location; super friendly personnel - Staff super friendly, very helpful and accommodating; even for the guests with language barriers - reception was amazingly helpful and offered valuable guidance (the guy in the reception that was on 31st of March; he was incredible); we are very thankful!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Had a lovely stay, the rooms are finished to a great quality The bathroom was gorgeous. Really helpful and friendly staff. Would Recommend.
- from canada (4/5): - The facility doesn’t provide soap and champoo, nowhere to buy them either. Very disappointing.
- Sharon (2/5): Ants everywhere! - We were in the Eiffel room, there were ants on the bathroom vanity, floor, and even in the BED. Disgusting! There was no manager at the hotel, so we called early the next morning and asked that he come immediately to correct the situation. He said he could not possibly be there until10:00. We left for our tour at 9:00 and asked for a new room with no ants. They did give us a different room, but up 60 steps with no elevator. I am 76 years old, but no way was I going to share my bed with ants a second night! SKIP this hotel!
- Chris (10/5): Nice location, next to water. - This is a nice hotel with comfortable rooms that are very modern. The hotel is located in a great area. It is next to wine shop and restaurant (same owners) that are great value for your money. Just steps from the river. Great overall hotel.
- cheftink (6/5): 25 min walk to Porto - Located across the river, a 25 minutes walk and you'll be in Porto. You'll have a nice view of the Ribiera. There is street construction when we were there in early June which was a shame. It would have been really nice when it's done and you can peacefully walk along the river.
No elevator - common for most guest houses in Porto (since they're a heritage site they can't do certain construction work). And the stairs are narrow and steep.
When we checked in, they have interns working. They didn't know how to print out payment receipt. It was the one and only hotel requiring payment prior to our stay rather than when we checked out. And they didn't offer our free welcome drinks nor help with our luggage.
The room was very small, though nicely renovated. We had the wine cellar room. It was facing a parking lot, and then the rooftop of the wine cellar. The bathroom, including toilet, is separated by glass from the bedroom. Can be an awkward situation if you're not traveling with a significant other.
No free breakfast. No free parking. There is a Eur 10 overnight parking just around the corner.
For just eur 10 less than what we paid in Porto, I would recommend skipping staying in the area and stay in Porto instead.
- Rick (10/5): Wonderful location - This hotel is in the perfect spot for exploring Porto. If you want to do port tasting you are at the right location as well as all the food you can muster.
- Samantha Russell (10/5): What a perfect place to stay in Porto! - Absolutely no complaints for this place. Excellent location right across the river (the bridge is easily walkable), next to cafes and restaurants right on the water. the place itself was extremely nice, clean and comfortable. The hotel staff was very helpful with our late check-in and made us feel well taken care of even before we arrived. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Porto! Highly recommended
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location close to everything - Pedro and Pedro were there to greet me. Very nice and informative on where to go. You are literally around the cornet from all the restaurants, bridge, Port houses and river. Great location if you are staying for night and need to see everything. Rooms are small but clean. I recommend if you are going to spend most of your time exploring.
- Christina (10/5): Charming! - We had the wonderful opportunity to spend a night at this lovely quaint hotel before boarding a river boat for a week's cruise. The location was perfect. The room was small, tidy and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend this little hotel 20 steps from the river.
- Peter (8/5): A jewel! - This charming hotel only lacks an elevator. The staff was fantastic, very helpful throughout our stay. Beautiful renovation, and our penthouse views were great from our tiny terrace. The beds were very comfortable, and again, staff, especially Carla, welcoming and helpful. We will stay again!
- Debby Wray (10/5): Lovely time - We had an amazing time, Porto is most probably one of the best cities I have visited.
The hotel was lovely but not ideal for the disabled or unfit, lots of stairs to climb without a lift, this hotel recently renovated but not allow a lift because it's listed.
The rooms could do with Tea/coffee facilities, the hotel has access for this in the reception.
Porto has loads to do, a must is to buy a full ticket for the river trip the bus tour plus the port wine tasting, this way you save money, all the restaurants are very clean & the food is very nice, the views are amazing & the city is steeped in history......glad we went.
- sonia (10/5): - Amazing!!! A little lonely lobby, but nice people. You can easily hear any activity from the people on the stairway...
perfect location and beautiful room
- Heidi (8/5): Perfect location across from the Porto riverside - The room was clean and comfortable and the location was perfect - close to shops and restaurants and the gondola, and right across from the Porto riverside.
I would warn travellers that there is no lift, the rooms aren't very soundproof and the toilet is essentially in the same room as the beds. We would still stay there again though!
- Heidi (8/5): Perfect location, with an incredible view - We woke up to an incredible view of the Porto riverside. Beautiful! We were close to loads of restaurants and shops and just a couple of blocks from the Gondola. The only thing I would say that travelers should be aware of is that the hotel and rooms are very small. This is to be expected in Europe, I suppose, but we were surprised to see that the toilet was basically right next to the bed. There was also no lift and it was very noisy. We would stay at Charm again though. The rooms were clean and the location was perfect!
- Janis (10/5): Little gem in Porto - Charm Guest House is a sweet little hotel a stone's throw from the Douro River and all the action of Porto. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable as well.
There is no lift, so be ready to shlep your bags up to your room, and what a room it is. The rooms are cozy small for a couple, but stylish. The bathroom is a glass affair that seems to be a popular design in the hotels we're encountering in Spain and Portugal. Your partner may wish to avert their eyes when you use the loo. It is THAT visible. Design quirks aside, the locale and price are right!
- robin (8/5): Interesting design - Room was nice but we had to walk up 6 flights of stairs to our room. Be prepared. Also, no one stays at the front desk full time to answer questions. Great view of Porto down the street.
- Mary (8/5): Enjoy Porto - Just one night but loved the view from the little balcony and sipped my courtesy port there!
- Leslie (10/5): Nice Small Hotel - I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and enjoyed it very much.
Location was great in Side Street on the opposite side of the river from the old town and 3 minute walk to river.
As reception is only open at certain times they will email you prior to your stay to ask time of arrival so someone will be there to meet you, I arrived in the evening and a charming polite lady was waiting for me, filled me in on the details, then showed me the room. Wi-Fi good in room.
I was located on the second for with the room being a reasonable size, modern design, clean, small balcony and the bathroom separated from rest of room with half shaded glass.
King size bed was very comfortable for a good night sleep, but if you are not use to seagulls they can be a bit noisy early in the morning. After the first night got used to them.
If you have an issue with stairs that can be a problem due to no lift or ground floor rooms.
All the staff were excellent and very helpful; they did not have a laundry service but went out of their way to find a place so I could do my laundry.
I did not try the breakfast, so cannot comment on the food.
You are only 10 minute walk over the bridge to the old town, 5 minute walk to cable car and lots of restaurants in walking distance.
Great place to stay and if I am lucky enough to be in the area again will stay here.
- Debbie & Andrew (10/5): Excellent location - The guest house is located in a really vibrant area close to the many Port houses. It is definitely on the best side of the river. The guest house is clean and stylish and very reasonably priced.
- Michael (10/5): Very modern room all facilities.Great location - First visit to Porto and this was great location. Very quiet and comfortable accommodation.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - everything was perfect except that there is no elevator in this hotel.
- leonard (10/5): Great place to stay - This guest house was one of the best places we have stayed in. The decor was beautiful, being on the fourth with no lift did not seem a problem to us. The staff were there for all our needs. Parking was 10 Euro a night but just behind the Guest House, which was not hard to find. The location was excellent, a walk away from everything. Would love to have spent more time here. But will be back next time we are in Europe
- Samantha (8/5): Exceptional service! - My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights and had an amazing weekend. The location is ideal. In the center of the wine cellars, and just a short walk across the bridge to the historic center of Porto. The room itself was good. Clean and contemporary. Bathroom was also great. Only downside was the bed was a bit hard and pillows very full. (But this is only personal preference.) We had the suite on the top floor so it was quiet and had a lovely view of Porto. The most outstanding feature of this hotel is the staff. They were very friendly and helped us book two dinner reservations and a trip to the Douro valley. All three were beyond our expectations.
- Michael (8/5): 1 night in Porto - Accommodations were great except that toilet was fully visible from bedroom. Otherwise, very clean room, good location, affordable.
- Margueritte (8/5): Relaxing by the sea - I enjoyed the area
- lisa (8/5): "Charming" hotel, great location! - While this new hotel is "charming", that was only partly positive. The staff was outstanding! Helpful and attentive. The location was fabulous for exploring port houses and close proximity to river and pedestrian bridge to Porto proper. Difficult for us (50 year olds) was the narrow flight of stairs to our room - though a nice view- and the lack of walls or a door on bathroom. All Glass! Likely best suited for a younger crowd.
