Guest Reviews
- P6130WXbeccam (10/5): Reddit recommendation gone right - Traveling from out of town and looking for a must-dine in Milwaukee. Found this place on Reddit - and soooo grateful! Aaron was our server and he was super attentive and nice. The food hit the spot and the prices were fair. I had the Reuben - 10/10.
- David (10/5): Pleasant hotel - Very pleasant hotel in a good area. Dinner was ok but service from Ellie was excellent. Breakfast was a bit disappointing and late.
- Michael (10/5): - Great older place that was in a nice, older neighborhood. Near enough to bars and restaurants to walk or short car hire. Overall, pretty quiet. Good Irish pub food downstairs and the free continental breakfast was perfect bonus! Overall very nice experience!
- Greg (10/5): - The room was very comfortable and well maintained. It was roomy and very comfortable. B-fast was good due to the omelettes. If not an omelette person, not so much.
- Gregory (10/5): - The hotel was great & the staff was as well. The pub downstairs was a bonus. Relaxed, comfortable, good beer selection & excellent food! I'll definitely return!
- Raoul (10/5): - Charming inn located just outside of the bustling city center. Lake Michigan, the Milwaukee river, downtown, and the Milwaukee Arts Museum are all a short walk away. The staff is friendly, courteous and attentive. Drinks and food are excellent. Even parking is available in a city where it is a premium.
- susannah (10/5): - Such a cute place to stay! The room had everything I needed, the restaurant was lovely, and the food was delicious. Everyone I came in contact with was kind and helpful
- Matt (10/5): - Just love both there properties
- Noel (10/5): - County Clare covers the Three C's:
Clean
Comfortable
Cozy
But also:
Comes with breakfast
Coffee
and a jaCuzzi*
* OK not really a C-word
I would not hesitate to stay here again. In fact, I don't think I would choose anywhere else to stay in Milwaukee. The location is perfect. The rooms are great. The place was remarkably quiet (although you will hear doors opening and closing). The breakfast was delicious. Every room coming with a full sized bathtub is such a nice perk, which is becoming harder and harder to find in hotels these days.
- Pascal (10/5): - The charm, layout and breakfast
- Nancy (8/5): - Large clean rooms, friendly staff, convenient cozy bar attached to hotel. Nice area convenient to downtown.
Great value for price and free parking
- Connector49724741087 (8/5): Three Night Weekend Stay - Nice little Irish inn in a great location, convenient to so much. Our room was fine though we didn’t spend a lot of time in it, the bed was comfortable enough. Felt like the room could use some better lighting and it’s a shame the windows don’t open but the a/c and fan kept things comfortable. Shower was a little wonky and the toilet in a separate wc which was a bit cramped. We were on the first floor directly above the restaurant/bar but didn’t hear any noise from it. Walls are solid and the only sounds we heard from the room were from the hall. The food at the restaurant was good, the complimentary breakfast was limited but a solid omelette and toast was enough to start my day. The pub was quite lively and full of both visitors and locals. Patrick the bartender was great. We didn’t receive maid service. Not sure if it’s something you need to request but for three nights it wasn’t necessary though would’ve been appreciated. The inn is very strict with check in and out times so plan accordingly but the front desk will store luggage. It was nice to stay in a neighbourhood, we had a lot of fun and I would happily stay here again.
- Marlan (10/5): - the pub was nice, but never got hot water in shower the second day after over 5 minutes.
- Maria (10/5): - Cute place, very clean and adorable rooms.
- Peter (8/5): - Nice for our one night stay, very clean. Queen size bed for two persons with one comforter it is in a german habit a bit small. But here it is Standard and it is completly okay!
- Theodore (10/5): - Very helpful staff. Very good omelette bar for breakfast. Comfortable bed
- GREG (10/5): - great people
- SammySyracuse (10/5): Wonderful Irish Inn and Pub - We are glad that we found county Clare Inn. It is in a good neighborhood, a block from The Hop (free streetcar), 1/2 mile walk to art museum and Lake Michigan. The room was clean, comfortable and refrigerator available upon request.
A free continental breakfast is provided with the addition of made to order omelets.
If you do not like eggs, then the selection limited. There is yogurt, kids' cold cereal and English muffins, bagels wheat bread and a type of coffee cake. We would suggest instant oatmeal packets and adult cereal options such as bran.
We ate at the restaurant and were happy with our selection.
We highly recommend this establishment.
- Steven (10/5): S Rowden stay - I enjoyed my stay and will always try to stay here on future trips. The room was great, dinner was excellent, the pub had everything plus more of what I had tasted in Ireland and my omelet was perfect both mornings. I would love to know the brand of bedding. Top cover reminded me of grandma's and blanket underneath as well. Please send me any information on brand if possible.
- Michael (10/5): - Very much enjoyed the location. Just north of downtown. Helpful and friendly staff. Had a very good dinner and drink on location. Nice place, will stay here again.
- John (10/5): - Rooms were quaint and clean. I was like staying at an Irish Country inn. Staff was super friendly. Patrick the bar manager was great. The continital breakfast with made to omelets was also wonderful. Will stay here again!
- Audrey (10/5): Irish getaway in Milwaukee - Fun place. Reminds us of Leap Year with the cool pub and inn all together. Room was classy but a little dated. Pub was super, great staff and ambiance, but we missed the band (and couldn't hear a sound in our room, a plus). Will return ASAP.
- Michael (10/5): - Hey we’re very attentive at check-in and check-out. Explained everything in detail. Cozy bed and nice bath/shower options. Very friendly staff in the Bar/Restuarant. Great place for the money, exceptional value.
- Michael (10/5): - Great staff
- Jim (10/5): - Great location and very vibrant pub!
- John P. (10/5): - Great value. Parking provided. On premise pub served Irish food and drink. Everyone was very friendly. Very walkable area of city. Convenient location for us. Room and premises clean. Room quaint with Hot tub. Would stay here again without question.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel - Beautiful little inn, above a pub. Clean, well appointed, and with an excellent breakfast. It's only a block south of the free 'Hop' tram that can take you to the art museum and downtown.
- Donna (10/5): - Quaint, unique property. Clean, bright room. Elevator was broken first night but fixed by morning. Enjoyed drinks and dinner at pub. Omelets and pumpkin bread at breakfast were excellent. Plan to stay again when visiting Milwaukee.
- jonathan (10/5): - I loved the old world charm, price, the pub on the main level and the larger than expected rooms. My only suggestion would be adding a small fridge to the room.
- Joseph (10/5): - We loved our stay here. Friendly staff
- Patricia (10/5): - Cute spot, large rooms, great pub downstairs.
- Sandra (10/5): - One of the best parts of staying at the Country Clare is the food in the restaurant. I have waited since before Covid to have an Irish Grilled Cheese sandwich. It did not disappoint.
The rooms are always clean and the hot tub bath is always a treat.
- Richelle (8/5): - About a 40 min walk to the AFI Amphitheatre which was my reason for being in MKE. There's also a Hop stop very close which is a free shuttle service. Price, free parking lot and location were excellent. Breakfast included which offers made to order omelets. It's old, quaint, clean, safe with on-site restaurant and bar. I would stay again. I didn't like sharing a wall with what I assume is the office/break room for staff. But I guess that's better than being sandwiched between 2 occupied rooms. I was scared awake by the shower being turned on in the room next to me. Speaking of showers...
- John (10/5): Irish Hotel - Really interesting older hotel on top of an Irish Pub! Room was nice, in good condition and updated. In a good location Staff was helpful. No, noise is not a problem.
- Cody (6/5): - It was an ok experience. Price, cleanliness, parking were all good. Staff was ok. 2nd morning the guy serving breakfast was a bit of blunt aggressive personality. Not unfriendly but... Biggest complaint was maintenance. Shower was clean but felt like we were going to fall through the floor. Something obviously out of whack under it. And the biggest pain an AC unit that rattled horrible everytime it kicked on. Took a towel and pamphlet and shoved it in the unit to try and stop the rattle. Room 210... fix it!
- Tammy (8/5): - Great location that was within walking distance to Fiserv, Deer District and Marcus theater. If need something close to MSOE campus this is the one! Room was spotless and had a very large jetted tub that gave me a Bed and Breakfast vibe. The Parking for the weekend we chose was very tight. The hotel was full and we got the last stall available and our nose of the GMC Sierra was sticking out quite far. Thankfully no incident. Street parking was full as well.
- Agnes (10/5): Fabulous - It was extremely cute the hotel . Impecable everywhere. Restaurant excellent. Love the trivia night on Tuesday .
I will definitely want to come back.
- Eileen (10/5): - Very cute and cozy Irish decor, pub and hearty delicious Irish food. The room was spacious, had a whirlpool tub and was very pretty. The parking is tight but the staff help with moving cars around. It has a personal feel, not like a chain hotel and is reasonably priced.
- Daniel (10/5): - Super charming restaurant and hotel. I only wished we stayed longer.
- Christy (10/5): - The people were great, the food at the restaurant was great, and we felt like we were in Ireland! :-)
- Steve (10/5): - A nice change of pace from chain hotels.
- Walker (10/5): - Our room was so cute and spacious, with a beautiful bathroom. We really enjoyed the unique inn feeling and the staff were all excellent. We enjoyed the pub for dinner and the breakfast in the morning. My only real complaint was the bed frame at the end of the bed. Despite some foam for the top corners, it is still very easy to smash your leg into. And the parking was very small/tight, and limited, though they allow you to double park and leave your keys, so that staff can switch cars around.
- Lilia (10/5): - The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean
- Benjamin (10/5): - Best hotel ever! My wife had the best time. Food and service was amazing at restaurant. We got a delicious omelette every morning. Will definitely be back!
- Robyn (10/5): Happy Birthday - Our stay at County Clare was wonderful. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent and the made to order omelettes for breakfast were delicious. Neighborhood was great for a leisurely walk.
- John (10/5): - This hotel is unique and is a different option. Most hotels are the same routine thing. This place is memorable. The front desk receptionist was awesome. Angie answered all of our questions and even helped us get ice and warmed up my two little leftover ribs. Angie is awesome! The restaurant served the best Guinness Pot Roast I have ever had!! Loved this place!
- Kathleen (10/5): - I felt like I was in Ireland. Cool atmosphere and super unique room.
- Patrick (10/5): - Great omelets. Best I have ever had.
- Sam (8/5): - Property was quiet and safe. Breakfast made to order omelets were outstanding. Parking was an obstacle especially if you have a truck or large vehicle. Spaces should be assigned to each room when booking thus guaranteeing your space upon return from daily outings. Suggest getting an ice machine for guests.
- Michael (4/5): - Our experience was definitely sub-par. This hotel seems to want to coast on its kitchsy "Irish" so-called charm, while neglecting many of the basics we Americans take for granted, for instance, a working TV. Also the complimentary breakfast was terrible, with the exception of the omelets made to order, which were very good.
- Darrin (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay.
- Young Jin (10/5): - Great stay
- Marcy (10/5): - Very cute unique building.
- Andrew (10/5): - Great location.
- Erik (10/5): - Great location, great dining, and the front desk staff were outstanding!
- Kristine (10/5): - Great place with pub right at the hotel. Food and beer were excellent. Also enjoyed the omelette breakfast. Nice location near coastline and museums. Would definitely stay again!
- Teresa (10/5): - It's a quirky little place but well kept up. Awesome food downstairs in restaurant. Walkable neighborhood with beautiful old buildings
- Maggie (10/5): Always a Great Choice! - We have stayed many times at the County Calire. It's the perfect location and cost! The rooms have always been exceptionally clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
We have walked to the Fiserv and to The Summerfest grounds from this location. You can't ask for a better location when in town to see a show!
- Thomas (10/5): - Staying at the County Clare Inn was like staying in an old hotel/restaurant/pub in Killarney! The decor, atmosphere, and food was authentic and thoroughly enjoyed. The staff was great...especially the bar tender in the pub!
Great location...would recommend to anyone!
- Russell (10/5): - From the Guinness on tap, the good food, the charming room, the live Irish music to the free breakfast, this place is a gem! We try to make this a habit.
- Rev (10/5): - Staff is delightful. Beautiful view of the ocean. Only disappointments were the room is very warm and no way to adjust the heat so we had patio door open all the time to adjust temp in room. And no patio furniture was allowed for "safety reasons" which we didn't understand. How is sitting in a chair more dangerous than standing on a deck? But other than that, everything else was amazing.
- larry (10/5): - Enjoyed our stay. Great location in easy walking distance to lake and city dining. Omelette breakfast was a plus. I’d stay there again
- Tacey (10/5): - A very unique hotel. The property was clean and tidy. The food in the pub was delicious.
- Gwen (10/5): highly recommend! - A unique, comfortable, and reasonably-priced stay! The rooms were quiet, spacious, comfy. Nice jetted tub and shower. The breakfast and pub experiences were excellent as well. Due to the position of the rooms, we could not hear anything from the pub during the night. Front desk and bar staff were lovely.
- Stephanie (6/5): - Quaint and comfortable, however there is definitely room for improvement. The sink in our room was cracked and chipped, the paint in the tub/restroom area was chipped and stuck to the floor. There was a wide gap at the bottom of the door that let light, noise, and smells into the room. Parking is VERY limited and while the staff did advise to double park and leave (your) keys at the desk, we weren’t comfortable with that and thankfully did not need to utilize that process. The mattress definitely needs replaced soon. It was bowed in the middle. Also, there was no phone in the room at all. While many have cell phones, in case of emergency, a phone being available would be a good idea (or even to call the front desk if needed). Possibly trivial, however one small tube of shampoo/condition/body wash are not nearly enough when two people are using the room for two days - not even enough for two people for one day. The breakfast was nice, and appreciated. We dined at the restaurant and the service was immaculate, and the food was delicious.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - what a gem - great atmosphere, fantastic omelettes, live band and close to sites
- Verified traveler (10/5): Weekend Away - Hotel was great. The sink in our room was cracked and needs to be replaced, but everything else was wonderful. We loved the restaurant and pub. Would definitely book again.
- Melanie (10/5): - Very clean and quiet. Smooth check-in and FREE parking. Great free breakfast with made to order omelets.
- George (10/5): - awesome place to stay. note strange checkin hours
- Michael (10/5): - Highly recommend! Felt like we were in Ireland. Very clean.
- Clay (10/5): - Great stay!
- Sean (10/5): - Unique, quiet place only a block from the free tram. I'll be back!
- Amy (10/5): - Such a cute Irish pub and great place to stay.
- David (10/5): - I had a pleasant stay at the County Clare. My room was very clean. The hot tub was great for my back, since I fell off a ladder 30 years ago. The hotel's location was perfect. It was within walking distance to the Pabst Theater, and I attended a concert there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Romantic and Relaxing - Lovely Inn. The tub is so relaxing and a rare find. Central location. Super convenient having the restaurant down below and free breakfast. Also can’t go wrong with free parking. Excellent value.
- Eric (10/5): - It was one of the best places I have ever stayed.
- Terri (10/5): - If you want the experience of a quaint inn, this is for you. The rooms are large with nice chairs, a quilt on the bed. There is a big jetted tub, and nice shower. It’s connected to one of the best Irish restaurants. In the morning they have breakfast for the guests of chef prepared omelettes, breads, yogurt, and cereals.
- Susan L (10/5): - Rooms are nice and access to pub is great and noise not an issue. Front desk staffing is spotty, you often need to wiat a bit. No USB ports so bring a plug in. You'll need to unplug something else. Area feels safe and we walked around but there is a car warning.
- Alana (8/5): - We really enjoyed our stay here! It is cute, cozy , and in a pretty good location. It is a short drive to downtown or the waterfront. It is an older building so there is a vintage feel that may not be for everyone, but we enjoyed it.
- Jiyu (10/5): - very good
- Mark (8/5): Irish Boutique near downtown. - This little Irish boutique hotel is nice for couples. The price is reasonable and they provide two very nice amenities. One, parking (which in the downtown or downtown adjacent area can cost 10-30 dollars a day.) Two, the free breakfast includes made to order omelettes. These are excellent. The rooms are small and the water pressure is a little on the light side but as far as location, walkability, and just a pleasant place for a couples stay, County Clare is a bargain for the downtown adjacent area. Staff are all polite and respond quickly to questions and/or requests. We recommend this property.
- Andrew (10/5): A lovely place, home away from home - Truly amazing staff, kind both on the hotel side and pub side. I am thinking of planning my next stay at Milwaukee already, with County Clare as my base of operations.
- Kristine (6/5): - It was cute and quaint buthadva couple issues that dampened our visit. We checked in on a Friday about 330 pm. Front desk was very nice and explained to us the ins and outsvof the hotel. The restaurant/pub was empty sansca few folks at the bar. We decided it looked like it would be a fun place for dinner prior to our 7pm show we were attending. We came back dow.
- Mercedes (10/5): - love the boutique hotel
- Dawn (10/5): - Fabulous place to stay and dine
- Robert J (10/5): Simply Wonderful - We came to Milwaukee for a concert. The hotel was perfect for our stay. Very comfortable and the Irish Pub was a bonus. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone looking for a sweet spot to stay.
- Bob (10/5): - Nice comfortable hotel with an excellent pub& restaurant. Convenient parking and nice location too
- anne (8/5): - Great pub and restaurant onsite
- anton (10/5): - A unique hotel full of character and characters.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable, no-frills experience - I stayed here for an event at Baird Center (Adepticon) because it was relatively close and inexpensive. I'd say stay here if you're ok with not having normal hotel amenities, and don't mind some noise. Parking is limited. Plan to park and not use your car if possible. There won't be hotel staff on duty 24/7, and few typical amenities like fitness room, room service, etc. A card in the room mentioned a housekeeper, but they didn't visit during my stay. Maybe they only come during longer stays? It can be loud with the tavern downstairs. If you're a light sleeper be aware. That being said, the tavern is excellent and I'd recommend it to anyone. The staff at the front desk and the tavern were all very nice and helpful. Good when your keycard stops working at 10pm and you have to get the bartender to fix it! A continental breakfast is included each day- mostly omelets to order and light pastries. I wish it had started earlier, say at 7:00am vs. 8:00, as I often had to be at Baird early. But it was good the one morning I had it. If you're considering this place for Adepticon or another Baird Center event, keep in mind transportation. You don't want to drive and have to fight for parking at the hotel in the evening. There's a bus route nearby, but with poor weather I relied on Lyft which ran about $10/trip and took less than 10 minutes each way. So my verdict: good option if you don't mind a classic no-frills tavern and inn experience, and are a little adventurous with hotel stays.
- Eric (10/5): - County Clare was an incredible hotel! The staff were extremely nice and accommodating and everything was very clean and cozy. I will definitely stay there again next time I'm in Milwaukee.
- Kevin P (10/5): - My wife and I got a true feeling of staying at a good Inn and Public House in Ireland. Very charming atmosphere. We'll be back.
- Deborah (10/5): Wonderful - Great place to stay! Four stars all the way!
- Peggy (10/5): - Great location.
- William (10/5): - The County Clare Inn serves great food, a fun atmosphere, and it has nice rooms.
- mahmoud (10/5): - Amazing place highly recommended for a staycation
Fish and chips were excellent
- Tyler (10/5): - The staff were great and the room and food at the pub were fantastic!
- Melissa (10/5): - Great hotel! Clean and convenient
- Maya (10/5): - Loved it
- Rebecca (10/5): - Stayed here overnight for a concert at Miller High Life Theater. This inn was awesome. I have been to B&B’s in Ireland and this felt really authentic. It was quaint and charming and we loved it. We had breakfast and dinner at the pub and the food was great. Staff could not have been more kind. Also super close to the theater. Would stay here again in a second.
