Guest Reviews
- Allan A (2/5): Disappointed and frustrated - We arrived on June 22, 2019 around 3:30pm, only to find no one in the office to help us. We rang the bell on the counter several times, still no one. Finally after a period of time, a man came to the office, I can only assume it was the manager or owner. I gave him a copy of our reservation confirmation. He looked and could not find a reservation under my name. Nor did he have any rooms available or that were clean. He then got on the phone to call the previous owner to see if he knew anything, and he did not. Then he told us a long story about how the maid had not come in to clean rooms that day, they had to evict some people that had been in a room for over a month without allowing any room cleaning services or repairs for a month, and if we could wait well over an hour, he could find a maid to come in and clean that room for us. This was absolutely unacceptable. After driving for 8 hours that day, we did not feel as though I wanted to wait for potentially over an hour for a room that may or may not be acceptable, so I had to drive around town to find another motel and got a room that was acceptable at a higher cost.
- Bud (2/5): - Terrable hospitality. Filthy rooms. Doors not secure!
- David (2/5): - Four days spent, two days without hot water for a shower. Four days with a plugged sink that would not drain. You figure!
- Marshall (2/5): Don’t stay here - This was my first time using hotels.com for family. I reserved my parents a room for the weekend. They said there was stuff on the walls in the bathroom. They said there was a stain on the bed that looked like a puddle of blood. My mom was in tears and begged for her money back. They did issue her a refund, but charged her $10 for using the restroom. I wish she had a phone that could take pictures with but it’s a flip phone.
- Dennis J (6/5): Elko, an old time town. - You get what you vote for.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Liked the cheap rates, tv, plenty of room, nice bathroom. Didn't like the semi engine noise running all night.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - There was a car sitting in front of one room with its hood open all night. Many of the doors had triple locks on them. There was also garages that were built into the building with padlocks on the doors. Although the room is large, the cleanliness was disappointing. There was long black hair left in a ball in the corner of the shower. There was a spider web in the corner of the bathroom doorway. There was also dust on the headboard.
- Verified traveler (8/5): An old country motel! - This little motel was perfect. Clean and comfortable, it might be old but I like it clean. If you are looking for simply a place to rest up for 8 hours or so this will do fine.
- Ronald (6/5): OK For The Price For A Travel Stop - Minimal breakfast with no seating area. Manager was super nice and friendly. Electrical outlets are sparse. Ok for the price for a place to stay over while traveling.
- David (2/5): - This was just for one night and it was so bad after trying bthe 2 nd room we left the hotel and went elsewhere. It was that nasty.
- Chooch (8/5): - Reasonable price, clean rooms, not much of a free breakfast, outside needs tender loving care
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This was a very old hotel the sheets were very old and not to soft on the bed just very run down
- AviS (4/5): Good price but you get what you pay for - Price and location are good. The is only one single lock on the door which feels very flimsy, no chain or another lock. Makes one feel insecure. The smell in the room was also unpleasant. Staff was friendly.
- walker1Denmark (8/5): Needs a hand, but works. - Friendly staff at check-in. got the room an hour earlier than I had booked it for.
Room was a bit small, but had a desk, a nightstand, a fidge, a microwave table and chair.
The bed was way too soft for me, however. I felt I almost dropped through.
The chair and table will both need a hand. Some of the framework on the table dropped off, and the chair was squeaking, when sitting. I am not that heavy!
Hot water was slow to appear during the afternoon, but much quicker the next morning.
WiFi worked exelent, but the TV had severe trouble if you had the bad manner to switch channel.
Door only had the knop lock. No dead bolt, no chain. On the other hand this was not Problematic Neighborhood, Los Angeles.
It can be a problem gettig to the location, as it is right up to a major intersection. You may have to go on and then make a U-turn.
Breakfast, which was included, was not worth the walk to the reception. Hot water, tea bags, some cereal and tiny muffins. Did not see coffee nor milk.
- Suzanne (8/5): Elko Motel stay - I loved my room in the back, with my car parked right by room. Room was quaint and comfy. I loved sitting in the room’s old arm chair to watch tv. Had excellent Chinese food 500 feet away.
- Gmcminn198 (4/5): Booked but did not stay!! - My from the 10 feet inside the door was poor, but my wife and granddaughter would vote terrible from going into the bothroom. I booked several days ahead and the room we booked was the only one left in this property. It was a large room with 3 beds. I asked if it had been smoked in because one in our family of 3 is allergic to even mild smoke. The man at the desk said we could check it out. There was a hole in the carpet just inside of the door jam. The room was musty. I thought we could do it though un impressed. I walked back to the office. My wife came in shaking her head no!!. The desk man said he would not charge us because the town was full. When I got outside my wife said the toilet was rusted and there was hair on the floor of the shower and dirty. We went on another 100 miles and found a room in an older motel also, as Winnemucca was nearly sold out too. That room was clean, spotless, and well cared for. I am so glad we went on. I hope that our card gets refunded as the desk person said it would be in Elko. We will not stop at the Elko Motel again.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dive Beware!!! - This place is an absolute Dive...broken Windows, most rooms not actively remarkably. Appearance is very unsettling. I cancelled prior to deadline an hotels.com / expedia.com did not refund according to the contract they said that only applies to fees from them. Beware
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great value for the price. The lady handling the check-in and out was very nice. Although the motel wasn't much to look at from the outside, my room was large and quite comfortable. I'd cheerfully stay again if I'm in the area.
- zundapp (10/5): An excellent budget alternative - Yes, there are striped sheets, as per a previous reviewer. There is also a generous size tile walk in shower, a good size room, better than average TV channels, and morning coffee in the lobby, for a rate somewhat less than I paid for a tiny mom 'n pop motel room in the center of town. This is an old motor court, but acceptably well maintained with a affable manager. During my several stays I have always found it comfortable and quiet. For the price, around $50, I could not ask more.
- SLC (4/5): - Only lock on the room was a single lock on the door handle. No dead bolt or latch. Shoved a chair under the door handle. I felt like I was in the twilight zone and spending the night at the Bates
Motel. I prefer to spend more and have some security so I can get a good night sleep and not worry if the door will come crashing in.
- Perkadventures (10/5): Inexpensive ok - Quick checkin wifi works back area is quiet no frills older but ok. Welcomed at check in.
Cold breakfast coffee ok to get you going for the day. Parking inside. Phone in room, bedding was clean, water hot and bathroom was clean
- Marlene (10/5): - Great place, clean and comfortable, plenty of room, close to restaurants.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Price is right - The place is old and pretty run down. The owners are new, sweet people and have a long list of things they want to improve. But the beds are comfortable, the room was warm in January, and we slept well. We were busy all day so only needed a bed and shower. Though there is nothing fancy about this place, it served it’s purpose. I can’t wait to see what this young couple does with it.
- Caifornia_Trekker (10/5): Clean motel, great price - We were at the end of a 3 week road trip, so have stayed in a lot of different motels recently. This one was one of the best for value for the cost. We don't look for anything fancy, but expect a clean, quiet room and this one was perfect. It is an older hotel, but is well maintained and was very clean. Owner was very friendly during check-in and even upgraded our room to a King for free! The room was very large and the bed was very comfortable. I love the striped sheets! Every other hotel has heavily bleached white sheets and it was so nice to sleep on soft sheets. The room had a fridge and microwave that were placed near the sink and dresser, so we were able to use it like a mini kitchen to prepare our meals. It had plenty of outlets to recharge all our electronics. We travel with expensive equipment in our vehicle, so we really appreciated the layout were we could park our truck right outside our door. The parking lot was a little tight since all the vehicles are large trucks, so I would not recommend coming in with a trailer.

- Steve (4/5): Pillow cases dirty DISGUSTING - Pillow cases dirty DISGUSTING
Room had crumbs all over
No clothes rack or closet
No ice
Friendly front desk
lots of dogs barking at night
Big rooms
WiFi works
- Knud Jorgen (10/5): Elko is good museum - Good location an nice museum
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good budget motel. - Overall this motel met my expectations. Though an older property, it was well maintained and everything seemed in proper working condition. We were in the back and the room was comfortable and quiet. Manager was friendly and the check in/check out was very efficient. Breakfast was minimal and the carpet in #23 was a little scary (though on closer inspection it appeared clean, just stained). Room was well worth the price we paid for an overnight stay passing through town.
- Kevin (10/5): Great place to stay - Don't like supporting big chain resorts/hotels. I do try to shop independent places. Elko Motel was a great place to stay. Very friendly staff quick check in, large room, not fancy, was clean and comfortable. Easy checkout.
- Marcie (8/5): - The management was awesome and kept in contact with us. We came in after 11:00pm
- Donna (10/5): Room was clean. It was a pleasant surprise. - Doesn't look like much, but the room was clean, the staff was friendly. It was a pleasant surprise. The rates were reasonable. We enjoyed our stay.
- Albert (10/5): Good place for stop over - The motel is older style on the outside but comfortable on the inside, office staff are very helpful and friendly, good value for money
- Carrie (6/5): Shrugs shoulders - It was okay
- Daphne (8/5): Great place owners respectab. - It was geographically located where i had business, quiet, cable nd bed comfy, had frg and microwave. Price great.
- Doug (6/5): Simple accomodations for a short visit. - An older place that's solidly built but could use some updating. For the price it's adequate for a night. Was nice to park in front of your door and was quite. Room had a micro and fridge and was clean. Pretty much what I was expecting booking here.
- Camryfan (4/5): Really old - I was kind of nervous about how safe it was to stay there. It was the first motel where I've stayed in a very long time where there was no key card My impression is anyone could kick the door in. Also, It didn't seem like there were enough parking spaces for the amount of rooms.
Breakfast was a joke. There was cereal in a plastic container near the front desk.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient and price-wise - Nice local hotel with clean room. The bed was not very comfortable but the price was right.
- Fishing Trip (4/5): Old but Economical - The staff was nice.
It's in the center of town.
It was clean but hasn't been updated since the 80's.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great value. Friendly staff. There was only a loose door knob lock. I would have felt better with a secondary lock/latch but we slept well enough.
- Eric (8/5): Overnight stay after long day's drive. - This is a well worn old-style downtown motel. The room was comfortable, clean and big. Internet was fast. Friendly on-site owner and family (I think). It looks like the staff is working hard to update and maintain the place. What was espceially nice is that the motel is on a main downtown street yet quiet. It was easy to walk to restaurants and parks which I did after being cooped up all day while driving. Just behind the motel are multiple city maintained parks. Breakfast is virtually non-existant even though it is advertised as being provided. No in-room coffee maker.
- Brian (6/5): Clean room with rustic feel. - The room was clean, staff was great and it had a nice rustic feel. The parking spaces were a little tight for a big pick up but we did fit. There is one space for truck/trailer parking on the side road behind the building but if its more then a 10-12ft trailer then you won't fit. I classify the area as "old town" Elko and had a few people walking around. It appears they are renovating some of the rooms so there are mattresses all over the place and debris but it's kept out of the roadway. The locks on the doors are only the door handle ones and a small chain lock but no dead bolt. The sink knob came off when used but was easily placed back on.
Defiantly not the best or safest feeling place I have ever slept in but I would stay there again if I needed a room for a night. If "just a clean room for the night" is what you are after then this place is just fine.
- janine (6/5): Old motel, but nice staff. - Motel is old and small. Small parking lot, no room for RV's or trailers. Since we had already booked, the owner accommodated us by giving us three parking spaces for our car and trailer. Our room had been recently updated and the bed was comfortable, room was clean. They are working on updating rooms, so construction on a downtown property. Not much of a breakfast, just a few mini muffins and some cold cereal. No coffee maker in the room
- Sukrat (6/5): Classic motel - Good place for a night stay and low budget. Won't recommend for longer ones.
- Frequent travel (8/5): Price is great, upgrades in the works - Check in was super easy, great front desk guy. Super recommendation for local eats. Motel is obviously undergoing upgrades (!), but it was a quiet, clean room for the night. It's an older place, but had everything we needed, kind of rustic. Shower head needs improvement (I know management reads these - those of us with longer hair need some water pressure to rinse out shampoo and conditioner - low flow just means 3x more time in the shower, which means higher water bills) , and no hair dryer. Plenty of space. Good bang for the buck. Keep prices low and we'll definitely return and send our friends.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Remodeling - The only reason Elko Motel didn't get 5 out of 5 is simply the age of the Motel. They were currently in the process of remodeling rooms during our stay. I look forward to seeing how they will make the rooms even larger than they already are.
- Roberta (10/5): Great place for little money. - Our stay was extremely comfortable. Front desk young man was extremely helpful!
There was construction updates ongoing. It will be great when it is done and was not detrimental to our stay. Will stay here again if we are in the Elko area.
- Stacy (8/5): - It was a decent motel for the price, dated but clean and comfy. Staff was very nice.
- Catherine (6/5): . - Check-in was prompt and friendly. Found the mattress to be too soft, and the curtains insufficient for blocking the morning light. My suggestions for the property would like thicker or black-out curtains, and new firmer mattresses.
- Ned (8/5): - Great, froendly, helpful owner!
- Bridget (6/5): Good value, super staff - The staff were super friendly. I was a little concerned when e pulled up, the outside is a little rough. But it was very clean. Good value for what I paid.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - bed not comfortable & there were some rags for hand towels.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice older motel in heart of downtown. - Nice older motel. Clean with Fridge and microwave that were nice features along with newer television. Staff was friendly and helpful. If I were to go back to Elko, I'd consider staying there again.
- DrivingZiggy (8/5): Striped sheets! - What kind of place has striped sheets? The Elko Motel does!
Okay, so I'll start at the beginning. I booked through Expedia. But there was a problem with my credit card, so Peter called me to let me know. I was driving through the mountains so we got cut off.
I finally arrived and checked in. This is an old motel packed with charm--and everything worked. The A/C was off, but it was as though it had been on recently because it wasn't hot in the room. Just turned it on and everything was fine.
Then I sat on the bed to take off my shoes and immediately thought, "Oh no! I'll never be able to sleep on this cushy bed." But I was wrong, I slept just fine!
I was grimy, so I decided to shower. Shower was fine, except a bit slow to drain. I informed Peter and he said that he would work on it.
So then it was time to play. I didn't know where, so I hit the front desk. Peter's wife(?) told me that when she felt like gambling she would go to the Red Lion. So that's where I went. Had a good time for several hours even though the band wasn't very good.
Got back to the Elko Motel and slept well. Then I left in a good mood.
- drtryan (6/5): Inexpensive and clean - We used this for a one night stop between Yellowstone and Yosemite National Parks. It was extremely inexpensive for the 5 adults sharing a single room. We had two queen beds and a full. It was clean although dated. There was a soda machine and laundry on the premises. We left too early to review the breakfast.
- Rickey (8/5): Vacation 2016 - The staff was very friendly. Great for the price
- Judy (4/5): - Basic clean room. Comfy bed. Hosts wonderful.
- Mark (10/5): WAS VERY QUIET AFTER DRIVING 1,000 MILES - WAS GREAT
