Guest Reviews
- Rebecca (6/5): - The hotel itself was nice however it is dated, and the beds are extremely hard
- Emma (8/5): Good location for train. - Location very good if arriving by train, easily walkable even with our 20kg back packs.
Wifi is BAD logs you out every 10 mins and you have to sign in again.
Room was big and bed was big and comfy.
Bathroom had a bath but no tap to fill it, just a bit wierd.
Swimming pool is not on hotel property, its actually next door.
All in all a good place for a stop over or a couple of nights if you wanted to visit Chumphon
- Ole Anders (6/5): Ok transit sted - Harde senger, tregt nett. Helt greit sted for å bare sove over. Store rom. Vi var der transit fra koh Tao, slik at vi unngikk nattoget.
- Martin (6/5): Chumpon overnight - Hotel is exactly what to expect for the price, well placed for the railway station and places to eat and drink, no hot water at night but plenty in the morning, staff polite and helpful.
- Wombott (6/5): Sort of a last resort! I feel mean saying that - It was a very clean, large room although I could hear our neighbors through the bathroom vents (luckily, my parents were on one side, my daughters on the other). It was cute that they provided a hotpot and milo so we could sample that and also eat some mama cup o noodles. Breakfast wasn’t appealing to my kids’ American appetites - there wasn’t even any fruit. But it was reasonably priced and we only stayed there b/c the Novotel lost power (and I’m not sure the Novotel would’ve been much better!) No soap provided in the bathroom btw!
- Keith (4/5): - No hot water
- Ponethip (6/5): Tyydyttävä - Ensimmäisen huoneen ilmastointi ei toiminut, toisen huoneen suihku ei toiminut, sängyt todella kovat. Palvelu ystävällistä ja aamiainen todella halpa
- 894moozap (2/5): Not good quality - We came there for 1 night. Rooms are old. Mattress is hard. Shower doesn't have dry and wet zone. Ceiling on the room shows leakage. Room is not clean
Price of Room was 700 THB and I would only pay for like that Room not more than 400 THB.
After check-in in the room found out that no towels. Was neee to call to reception. Waiting 10 minutes and bring only 1 set
Other set was Waiting more several minutes and bring only 1 towel and staff mentioned not enough tonight. OMG
In the morning wanted to check breakfast as it can purchase for 250 THB per room additional. Thought it will be ok but when I came it is only bread and some drinks. Absolutely awful for that price
Rooms don't have any soundproof. In the night time staff rolling laundry and can hear everything
Definitely will not stay there as perception of price and quality is matching
I
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location nearby many restaurants and night market. Room is clean and big but air condition is hot and water heater is not workable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Bath tub is broken.
There is bar nearby very loud hard to sleep.
Some staffs don't wear mask.
Big group (20 guests) stand so close for waiting checkin.
Good location, Big room, reasonable price, near shopping area and easy to walk to train station
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nothing special about the hotel. It is exactly as described.
Comfortable, friendly staff, comfortable bed. Good air conditioning.
Didn't have time to see the breakfast which was included.
Would return
- Verified traveler (10/5): My impression - The hotel room is clean and comfortable near to the shopping area within walking distance. Breakfast is quite good with variety of food. Will come to stay here again next time.
- christine (8/5): Our stop off - The staff was friendly. Breakfast started at 06.00 we had a ferry to catch at 5.30 they had a box breakfast for us at the desk. Location for station good 5 mins walk. If I had to say anything negative it would be I would like a safe if I was staying longer than 1 night.
If u get a room at the back then you will get loud music from the bars. But on the whole more going for it as a stop off than against
- borderlinevictim (8/5): Large Comfortable Room and Good Breakfast - Be Careful. The hotel has an old wing and a new wing. The rooms in the old wing are cheaper and certainly past their best but still generally ok. I stayed in the new wing which is still good value. The room was large and well furnished with a comfortable bed and good clean bathroom. The air-conditioning is by a centralised system and was very good. The internet was fast and reliable, The breakfast buffet has a small but good selection of Thai foods and was very tasty and good quality. There is a lift (elevator) to reach the higher floors. I would definitely stay there gain
- Pornchanok (10/5): Close from train station - Reception and staff is very friendly, room is big and clean. Very close from the train station.
- road-schlepper (8/5): comfortable, clean - Comfortable, clean and quiet. The buffet breakfast was very good. The desk staff - one woman in particular - seemed grudgingly responsive and couldn't summon up a smile. Very little English was spoken.
The room was huge.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A convenient 6-7 minute walk from the Chumphon train station. Was greeted by very friendly front desk staff. Very helpful in answering all my questions. And made arrangements for airport transfer the very next day (at a very fair price!). Room was quite large and clean, with good views over the city. Later in the evening one of the staff volunteered to give me a ride on the back of a motorbike to the outdoor market. Also, there are a handful of bars and restaurants along the same street.
My only criticism was the breakfast, which was marred by a bit of an ant problem. No worries, because there was a 7-11 very close by with plentiful food and good coffee.
- Binod (8/5): Clean nice place - The hotel is clean and at a quiet location. The breakfast was good. There are multiple restaurants nearby. However, the staff do not speak English if you don't speak Thai.
- Phat (10/5): - สะดวกสบาย ใกล้แหล่งของกิน ห้องพักสะอาด พักผ่อนสบาย
- jason (4/5): A huge disappointment - No obvious sign at front to indicate hotel name. Totally dead inside.
No greeting on arrival from reception staff. No record of my booking. After checkin, went to stifling room. Was sweating even without a shirt on. Went for swim in nice pool (in next building) which seems to be under construction still.
Back to room. After 2 hours of more sweating, checked temp. Was 31C. Went to reception (who speak NO English) so spoke in broken Thai, the AC wasn't working. The maintenance guy came to my room, fiddled with the thermostat then said fixed! It was no different, which he knew and finally conceded.
They changed my room. The TV has not a single English channel so pointless putting that on. Fortunately, some bars downstairs to go to.
On checkout, no thanks or buy from (same) staff member.
All in all, a bad experience and totally over paid. 890bt and I saw reviews others had paid 450bt. For that price, OK. For what I paid, don't go there.
- Paul (8/5): - Visit marred by noisy night clubs nearby.
Request quiet rooms at rear when booking.
- Paul (8/5): Comfortable, spacious rooms close to amenities - I stayed for one night. Large, spacious rooms. Very clean. Central location with train station, restaurants, and shopping within walking distance. Staff are helpful. Bathrooms are large with a bathtub. The hand basin sink did not drain properly. Can be a bit loud at night as there are bars across the street which play music late into the night.
Overall however very comfortable hotel and I would stay here again if visiting Chumphon town.
- 203jennam (2/5): Bug infested. Awful customer service. - We arrived at the hotel late and paid 490 THB for a double room.
We walked into the first room we were given to find the curtains hanging off the rails, rubbish on the shelves covered in thick dust with the lights not working.
I went down to ask to move rooms and after getting over the language barrier (downloading Google translate) I was shown to another room which seemed a lot cleaner so we moved.
My partner woke me in the middle of the night to say that something was in the bed, after switching on the lights we found that the bed was infested with ants. It was too late to be moving rooms so figured we would speak to reception in the morning.
As we were checking out we showed them the videos of our luggage covered in ants and asked if they could compensate us in any way... All we got was 'the manager is off' nothing we can do and the receptionist carried on playing on her iPad behind the desk and we were left to go on our way. Terrible behaviour.
Don't stay here, there are hotels that are around the same price with better reviews. It was only for us arriving late that we chose this place.
The rooms are very basic, the bath had mold and rust around the edges and the walls had black marks all over them. Just generally not a nice place to stay at all.
- lukereid (10/5): A perfect escape - I arrived to Koh Lanta by mini bus completely exhausted from working and traveling. I booked a room here for one night just to escape the heat noise and madness. I ended up staying here four nights...
The hotel is incredibly clean, quiet and safe. Excellent wifi and a great restaurant. The room was large with a balcony looking onto jungle, the bathroom was immaculate and had all working amenities. The working fridge was a great thing to have some fruit and cold drinks stowed away. The swimming pool is a highlight and the bike rental easy and reasonably priced. The staff were lovely, incredibly friendly and helpful, I will miss you guys!
Its just opposite the beach and for the price its everything you want in an escape.
- Kamischa_com (10/5): Quite & Convenient & Comfortable hotel - I spend two night at Morakot Hotel in Chumpon, Thailand. I paid 490 THB for a double room. Hotel environment at the hotel is calm, so you can have a nice sleep. Hotel is conveniently situated at the city center where you can find restaurant, bakery and day market. Also, train station is very closed. The night market is only few minutes walk. Only thing which troubled me was a TV. Unfortunately only Thai programs are provided. Anyway I highly recommend this place.
- 269justina (6/5): Decent Hotel for cheap price. - This review is for the Morakot Twin hotel, which is located out the back and to the side of Morakot Hotel.
Room was very spacious and has a big window letting in a good amount of light has a super comfortable bed. Good lift service. Staff didn't speak much english/couldn't use the card machine, so make sure you bring enough cash to pay for your stay, they are friendly and are happy to hold your bags for a few hours after check out. You can rent a bike at a shop around the corner, you will need it if you would like to go into town further.
Bath did not have plug/staff didn't understand when we asked for one.
- Dennis70 (8/5): Solid choice - Perfectly acceptable rooms with a/c, comfy beds and linens, hot water, wifi and cable TV for less than 500B a night in high season. Slightly worn common areas, but no other complaints.
Front side rooms don't get as much noise as you'd expect.
- now_teekong (8/5): best budget hotel - Good hotel for rest from travel. i came in very late at night and they welcome to service. They have a good bell boy to help us. The room is very wide, clean and free wifi and good signal. it's only 750 per night. They have two tower : old and new. You can choose the room in new tower.
- khunkeoni (8/5): Best Choice for the Money at an ideal location - Tried several hotels and gusts houses in Chumphon, but none as practical, nor as good valued as this one. Spacious rooms, good and free wi-fi connection; Within walking distances to lots of nice little restaurants and eating places. They even arranged to get me a rental motorcycle when none were available.
The private parking is also quite convenient.
- Susarope (6/5): Cheap and clean place to stay - I only spend one night in Chumphon. In my opinion this place was worth every penny. Big and clean room, aircondition, free wifi and really quiet. Staff was tired. She was taken a nap behind the desk when I arrrived. Didn' t like I interrupted her daydreaming. Price was really good and it is really near by railwaystation!
- naresdam (6/5): Lots of space inside and out - We visit Chumphon every year and this year we chose this hotel. We specifically asked for a large room in the new building. The room was clean and big, service was okay. The lack of design, under-used real estate (lots of space in the room, corridor and parking area), and mediocre breakfast made this hotel an average choice.
- BallardBeaver (8/5): A Solid Choice - I've stayed in the Morakot several times over the years and consider it a solid value. They've got a new entryway and a splashy new lobby. Upstairs the rooms are still large, clean, comfortable. Their on-line rates are rather higher than I've gotten as a walk-in. On our last visit in March 2012, we got a big air-con double for 450 baht.
- SumateP (8/5): Stay overnight in Chumphon - Good room. quite new and very clean. valuable price. walk-in rate is under 1000 thai baht.
- LulaBird (6/5): Try others first - By looking at the photos on agoda I think we stayed in the 'overspill' section of this hotel. We only stayed for 1 night before getting the boat to Koh Tao. The enterance was very slick and new looking, a theme that was not carried beyond reception. The hallways were tired and the room was extremely tired! It had a strong smell of stale smoke which was unpleasant. the finishings were shoddy with gaps in the tbathroom ceiling & bits missing from the floor trimmings. the a/c unit was very old & very noisy. The worse thing was the bed, it was extremely hard, like uncomfortably hard, I kept waking up sore so not a very pleasant sleep I'm afraid! Positives? There was a fridge with complimentary water and although very fuzzy the room had a tv. It was also within a short stroll to the night market and train station.
It was very wet when we arrived and this was the first hotel we looked at so I'm unsure about other possibilities nearby.
