Guest Reviews
- John (6/5): - When I arrived I realized that it was not suitable for me. I tried phoning several times over several hours without making contact with the desk or the message service.
- Panu (4/5): - Well, it wasn't good.
When I arrived (at 6pm), there was nobody to be found at the front desk. I waited for a while, then went looking for anyone, anywhere in the motel, and couldn't find anyone (including any fellow guests). Some of the unoccupied guest room doors were open, left that way mid-cleaning.
I had to leave to get some dinner after about 30 mins. When I returned after dinner, there was a lady available to check me in. She told me that earlier she had to "drive to Kamloops and back, "to get some stuff for the restaurant". Kamloops is roughly an hour's drive each way. And I guess she was the only one working that day.
She agreed to give me a $10 discount for my troubles, which was appreciated.
Unfortunately she proceeded to check me into an occupied room, where a gentleman was watching TV when I entered the room. Finally I got my own room. I asked for both keys (they use regular keys, as opposed to key cards), to avoid anyone walking in on me.
The rest of the stay (approximately 7 hours) went without incidents.
But, everything was just a bit creepy at that place.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I arrived one day after they re-opened from the Covid-19 closure. Staff were busy making sure that guests were safe and that the hotel was spotless.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This hotel is gross, it stinks and we didn’t end up staying there because it was terribly dirty.
- Theena (2/5): - No notices of closure, not answered phone when I I checked before leaving.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect, Value of money - Located just near the river in city(perfect location),the hotel is clean and provides u great hospitality. The hotel staffs are very helpful and will guide u throughout your stay.
- Robert (2/5): Useless. Don’t depend on your reservation - Nobody at the reception at 7 pm. So we needed to find other accommodation.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - filthy and old. noice price and location
- Marcia (6/5): The Inn by the Mighty Thompson River - It was clean and everything worked. Comfortable room temperature was easily controlled. There was a little noise from the horns on the trains passing nearby but it t didn't disrupt sleep. It was conveniently located as I had to attend an event in the town and I wanted to be on foot for it. There is a restaurant in the building which was reasonably priced with good food. That was convenient but it didn't open early for breakfast. The building also houses a beer parlor but it wasn't a bother. Lots of parking space. My only disappointment was that they didn't have housekeeping on Saturday. Everything else was perfectly adequate and they should be considered if you're planning a trip. Staff was friendly.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location on the river with restaurant and pub in the same building meant you didn’t need to go out! Very cute and historical, rooms a bit well worn but absolutely serves their purpose - a perfect pit stop on the way!
- Patrick (4/5): Dump - It was $49 what can I say....it was old, dark, smelly and dingy. With no heat in it. A local pet spider inhabited the room....and the view from the window was literally of a pile of garbage...
- Verified traveler (6/5): You get what you pay for. - Pretty much exactly what you’d expect for the price.
- Jeff (2/5): - There was nothing good about this hotel. I booked on Expedia and they tried to overcharge me when I arrived. Someone had been in the room after it was cleaned or the room had never been cleaned. The pillows had been propped on the bed and a cup of coffee was sitting on the table. The sanitary strip that should have been across the toilet was in the garbage. The hotel has heat but no AC and the windows do NOT open in the room I was in. Avoid this place at all costs, sleep in your car.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - When checked in was told that expedia made a mistake and didn't charge us enough. so ended up paying more.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Ashcroft River Inn - Beside the river, close to the bridge into town. With a restaurant and a bar, and a pleasant crew of employees, and a two block walk to the center of town, it should be so much better than it is. With two floors of hotel rooms away from the noise of the bar and somewhat sheltered from the CP & CN rail tracks noise (unavoidable in Ashcroft) it could be good. Heavy rains forced closure of the upstairs rooms this summer, and though the rooms are clean and functional, the furniture is old and carpets are in need of replacement. The shine has worn off but it still has certain advantages.
- Sean (6/5): - On the downside ,Our room was musty. Upside the staff was good and the food was good and well priced.
- Ralf (8/5): Cheap and basic - don't expect The Ritz! - Nice, friendly service. The hotel is situated on the side of the river and if you have a room facing the river be aware that a ot of goods trains pass by, which can be noisy.
The room was comfortable (we got movedd from one on the other side which was a bit dark and dingy).
A microwave and kettle woud be useful in the room - the hotel restaurant menu is not at all vegan friendly and there isn't a lot in the Village either.
The whole hotel is quite dated and could do with a serious makeover, but overall we had an enjoyable stay in Ashcroft.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Friendly customer service! - The service was awesome very friendly and happy to help. The beds we comfortable. I can’t say it was the cleanest place. There was some issues with coffee pot.😟
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Pet friendly is about it place is poorly staffed not very clean at all and run down could use some paint and a few other fix ups being a very small town I somewhat understand the income just isn’t there!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - the location was great..the rooms are outdated but the beds were comfortable. Housekeeping was not too good, we found a moldy teabag in the coffee maker. But the lady at the front desk responded quickly, taking the whole machine and bringing us a new one. It was a good sized room with two queen beds.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Loud drunks in the halls after the pub closed beer cans in the halls and stair wells in the morning blood on the walls after fights rooms out of date pillows thinner than cardboard hot water stopped while showering Restaurant staff was good
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This motel was very very run down.
It was dirty and there were fights between drunk people in the hallway for hours in the middle of the night with no intervention.
The outside walls to our room were punched in by other guests while we tried to sleep.
It was scary and gross
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A reasonable facility for a short stay following an evening meeting in town.
- Bruce (6/5): - Good location. Good firm bed. Reasonably quiet...except for trains!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked the fact the property was right next to the river. We could have our breakfast & watch the river
- Artur (8/5): - nice hotel convenient to Barnes lake for fishing and very nice town.
- Steve (10/5): - I liked everything. Very clean and friendly. Great resteraunt. Great views. Right next to the river. Very good cable
- James (6/5): Clean and quiet - The hotel is older but the room was comfortable and clean. Nice and quiet along the river. The food in the restaurant was really good and the staff were great. I would definitely stay there again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was okay or an overnight stay.
- michael (2/5): - One of the worst dumps imaginable. The worst part was they did not have my reservation- made and confirmed through Hotels.com. While they did have a "room" - it could have been a complete disaster. Very disappointed in the Hotels.com quality control. There is no excuse for a missing reservation - it calls into question the actual legitimacy and purpose of hotels.com
- Verified traveler (2/5): Cold, unkept, overpriced. - Freezing, dirty, STINKS and is way over priced! The staff are clearly loyal employees and were very kind. They knew the hotel meeded updates and probably a whole new renovation and tries their best to accomodate us. The bartenders were great and made the best of what they were supplied. The owners need to seriously consider a reno and clean up!! Told by others staying there that they had BUGS in their beds. We brought our own sheets thankfully. Never coming back!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This hotel is in need of a total renovation , rooms have poor and dated furniture. The lobby is not inviting.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - the hotel is in terrible condition.
there were people shouting and running up and down the halls till 2:30am
I would not recommend it .
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ashcroft River Inn - A hotel attached to a bar. Bar first, hotel second. Friendly local bar, and a good restaurant, but the hotel part, while reasonably clean with nice bathrooms (my room anyway), is extremely worn and urgently needs hall and lobby carpets. Staff friendly and very helpful, but stretched thin. A cheap place to stay while traveling, but not for a holiday.
- Wayne (6/5): A Night in Ashcroft - I needed to stay in Ashcroft. The Inn was there. Arrived about 7 pm. Left next morning around 9 am.
- chet (6/5): Amenities include restaurant and pub - Nicely situated in Ashcroft with river fishing spots
- Richard (4/5): You get what you pay for. Condition poor - Room sheets were clean. No room service. Had to ask for more towels the next day. Mold along edge of tub. Not very clean.
- Roger (8/5): Relaxing - This motel has everything you need - Pub and the Restaurant
- Gil (6/5): Acceptable in a pinch and if price is an issue. - Acceptable. Short staffed, weird room service lady, restaurant not open until 9:30 a.m.
- Captain Chief (10/5): Worth the extra drive - Very friendly staff; basic and clean room; restaurant served up very good food. Very economical.
- Kevin (4/5): Piece of our national heritage. The town is full - Friendly staff and other guests. I spent. 30 minutes talking to the groundskeeper. Ad it would have it, he grew up on north Vancouver island also! Very affordable. Room had everything you need.
- Verified traveler (4/5): It was a nice hotel at one time, but not now. - Furnishings are worn and broken. Facilities are not being repaired or maintained, outside not painted or repaired. No staff at front counter, must go to bar to get served. Overall a bad experience.
- Retired. (4/5): Friendly staff, needing repair - Food was great, bed comfortable, needs thorough cleaning & dripping bath faucet & chair fell apart. Lamp bulb burnt out and one lamp missing.
- David (4/5): Worn but clean - This was a first time overnight stay during a motorcycle trip. The room was clean but in need of a renovation / refurbishment. The restaurant for the evening meal was quite good with friendly and efficient service.
- Lynn (6/5): Weekend getaway - The rooms are basic and clean enough. Nothing special, a bit run down but adequate! Just don't expect too much! Book a double room then you'll be on the river side. Oh and trains run through Ashcroft all the time so the a/c is good to drown the noise a bit. We would stay again!
- Chartlie (4/5): All facilities at the inn. - Ashcroft is in the middle of the desert with nothing to do, only good for a stopover while travelling past
