Gary (10/5): Enjoyable stay at Shoal LaJolla Beach. - We had a very nice stay at the Shoal Hotel LaJolla Beach. Room is large and was very clean. Location is very close to the beach and public transportation. Also restaurants and grocery store is very close. We enjoyed the hot tub at the end of the day to relax. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. There was nothing to not like as we had an enjoyable stay.

The front desk staff was outstanding - they were so nice and welcoming throughout our stay!! It would have been nice to have a smart TV to be able to log into movie apps, but there is cable and plenty to watch.

The walls must be so thin as all be heard the first night was the parrots outside and the second night we were kept up by the couple next door having a drunken argument in their bathroom!

Suzanne (8/5): Nicely renovated motel experience in the Windansea area of LaJolla - Recently renovated, friendly staff and near to the beach. Rooms are loud, far from La Jolla Village and fairly expensive.
Richard (7/5): - Keep an eye on the "creamers". They go bad and I got one! Yuck!! Remind guests to whisper as they pass along in front of other guest rooms, at night and "do not slam doors!"

Jessica (9/5): Wish I could have stayed longer - I stayed here one night for work while doing a shoot in La Jolla. The staff were so friendly and super helpful when I arrived, and they printed a form I needed for work before I left in the morning. The location is great, very close to Windansea Beach and a few bars and restaurants on La Jolla Blvd. Parking was easy and cheap. The water pressure in the shower was really weak, and the water out of the bathroom sink never got cold, so I had to get ice from the ice machine in order to drink it.

Melody (8/5): Nice Hotel in LaJolla close to a great beach. - The location is perfect as it’s close to the beautiful Wind and Sea beach. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower had good hot water. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There’s a great breakfast spot right next door with wonderful food and nice patio. Excellent coffee and breakfast sandwiches at Cafe Vahik. I took the 30 bus and it stops right near the hotel. The WiFi in my room kept going on and off. The channels on the tv were minimal. I tried to watch a game in the evening and couldn’t get ESPN.
Paul (8/5): We enjoyed our stay at the Shoals. We would certainly consider staying there again - Great location. The were options for food and drink within walking distance. There was a daily parking fee11 made our stay less of a value than it otherwise would have been without the fee.

Taeko (8/5): If you wasn’t close by the beach, it’s reasonable. - It’s not a big hotel but it’s so close to the beach by walking. Shampoo and conditioner need to be change the bland. It also was difficult to pump out.

Abigail (8/5): We overall had a good stay but might find another place to stay if we come back to La Jolla. - The room was nicely decorated with ac, lots of shampoo conditioner and body wash, easy to get to, overall pretty clean Walls are paper thin, could hear all neighbors all the time. Brent (9/5): Worked out perfect for a one-night stay - The location is great and the staff are all excellent people. Free parking on the street. Walking distance to the ocean and restaurants. We didn't use the pool or hot tub but everything looked very clean and well maintained. This place was clearly a Travelodge or something of that nature and it has been updated and converted into something nicer. They did a good job. It's still a little rough around the edges in some regards (like all motels with an outside entrance) but still great.

Daniel (9/5): Very nice motel/hotel close to the beach in LaJolla - Check-in at front office was pleasant and easily accomplished . Hotel is 200meters from LaJolla Beach and an easy walk . Room 210 was very clean , very comfortable and bed was quite comfortable. Bath toiletries were in the room . Large TV as well as small microwave and a small refrigerator . Easy walking distance to multiple restaurants . We went to the “Stack” and had a reasonably priced and very good dinner . All in all a nice hotel for a reasonable price . No mention by reception of the $15.00 parking fee upon checkin so rather a surprise upon checkout .

It was inexpensive and the front desk gal was extremely helpful and sweet. The bed was wonderful! Nice little fridge and coffee maker. I had a hard time figuring the out the TV. It needed to load or something. In the end it turned on and was satisfactory. The blinds were pretty busted up, but I didn't care at all.
