Guest Reviews
- Javier (4/5): Barely Ok Low Cost Option for Oakland - Only Stay if You Need To
- Terry (2/5): As last last last resort - First night someone kept knocking on my door trying to get in. Went to front desk to ask to change rooms and she told us that no one was knocking on our door and that if it happened again to stay in room and dial 100. Was told had security and security cameras but no security was visible and they didn't have cameras in important places like in back where Room 100s are. The room was not the cleanest and the towels were dirty and old. The next morning had to step over a man who was laying in the hallway in front of my door! The second night people continued to knock on my door. Never staying here again.
- Bob (4/5): Don't Stay - They advertised new and remodel rooms ...... it must have been 50 years ago. The heater didn't work very well the bathroom was not cleaned the cabinet was full of dust the shower floor was brown. The pictures look fine but .... No way. Be careful staying there if you do.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Dangerous neighborhood. Tv never worked. No stores close by. For a single female not a good area.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good value. - It was good. Friendly staff comfortable room.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Beats staying in your car - Cons: This hotel was in desperate need of renovation and overhaul. The paint inside room was gaudy and the color scheme was dreadful; walls were in need of repainting and resurfacing. The room wasn't very big and that combined with the red and Orange colored walls made the room feel claustrophobic and unwelcoming. Bathroom door was extremely dirty, bath towels were paper thin. Shower was crammed. Paltry ammenities except ice maker in hall and soda machine. A coffee maker with coffee and creamer would be a nice addition as would air conditioning. Parking lot rows so close you have to completely back out of hotel parking lot.
Pros: Mini fridge was nice as was wifi. Sheets were clean. Tv was updated. Check in receptionist was friendly.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Yep- it's a dump - No air conditioning and the room is hot and stuffy, the noisy fan supplied did not cut it. MacArthur Blvd is noisy at night so open window not a good option. The neighborhood is sketchy, lots of shouting on the street below. Staff is friendly (behind security glass in the locked office- no lobby) but the place is a dump. Not much nearby in terms of restaurants.
- Paul (10/5): Nice manager - The manager held my room even though there was a problem with the credit card number no.I gave him. There were NO rooms in Berkeley that night, and others called for rooms, so that was nice of him!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dirty and so loud - Hotel looks old but correct from outside but the room was dirty, walls not cleaned from some months, towels and sheets are not changed between each guest! It was the worst place ever be.
- Igor (6/5): Review - Very nice people running it. Very accommodating without hesitation
- Igor (6/5): General - convenient location, nice people
- Verified traveler (6/5): just ok... - decent room in oakland.... close to a bart station for easy access to Berkeley and San Fransisco!
- Marcos (8/5): Nice place for a decent price - Needed a decently priced place to spend the night and I found this one, which was really good for what I wanted. Close to a BART station, nice staff and comfortable room. The area can be a little shady at night but I've been to worse places. Recommended if you are not too sensitive to 'very' downtown areas.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not recommended - I hate to write negative reviews but I just cannot recommend this motel. In my opinion, it was dirty (especially the shower), run down, and smelled like cigarette smoke even though it was a nonsmoking room. The owners are nice but it can't redeem the rooms. I stayed here for a single night while my own home in the Bay Area was unavailable and I was looking for a very inexpensive place near my work to minimize costs. Other motels in the area had terrible reviews but this one was "new to Expedia" and it was the second cheapest in the SF/Oakland area so I booked it. I'd recommend plonking down an extra $15 to stay at a Motel 6.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Ugh - It seemed like a sketchy part of town - clean enough but very run down
- david (2/5): Get what you pay for - You get what you pay for. No AC, bad crime area, windows dont have screens. Somewhat clean, no visible bugs. However good alternative in a pinch when 2 star hotels are over $400 in Bay Area during peak weeks
