Winde (6/5): Booking.com’s deceptive staging turned a glorified B&B into a "two-bedroom" disappointment. - The convenience to the Basilica. Paulo, the gentleman at "check in" was very trying, regarding the uncomfortable, supposed full size bed with no drawers w/ just a wardrobe closet :(. More disappointing was the "2 bedroom ste" facetious way that booking.com displayed the setting. Online, it looked like a true 2 bd suite, using the common room to appear like a private living room. It really should be listed as an overly priced Bed & Breakfast style stay.

anjasG652ZC (10/5): The most genuinely amazing experience! - I usually don't write reviews, but staying at the Wm Farmer and Sons was such an amazing experience that I had to. We went two families in April, and both the kids and the adults found this one of the best hotels we've ever stayed at. From the absolutely fabulous Easter Brunch, which we stumbled upon when we checked in, to the friendliest service, the thoughtful details in the rooms, the fact that there's a lounge you (=the kids) could use also after we checked out, and everything in between - if you're going to Hudson - you HAVE to stay here!

The soaker tub was a pleasant surprise as it wasn’t listed under the Sawyer room, but I was so happy to see it. The bed and pillows were super cozy and I had a great night’s sleep. The receptionist was very welcoming, offering for help with bags and giving so many recommendations for where to go and what to do. Everything you would need was in decent walking distance if you wanted to get your steps in. Would 100% make a visit again!

Sharon (9/5): Beautifully appointed accommodation in a every romantic setting - Beautifully appointed - warm and cosy (as it snowed outside) and had everything we required in a very romantic environment . Booked the the restaurant for the two nights we were there and enjoyed it immensely -including lovely pre dinner drinks at the bar. Would highly recommend this accommodation if visiting Hudson. Only small negatives - were lack of hot water when we arrived ….and the inability the whole time there not to be able to fill the bath with hot water - although enough for showers. As this was the coldest time of the year by a long shot - this was something I missed. Also heavy footsteps of noise above us on the first night impacted on our sleep - although that was not there on the second night .

The bed and bedding always makes for a fabulous night’s rest. Do not hesitate to stay at WM Farmer and Sons for your upcoming trip to this charming town :)

The room was very attractive and comfy, Staff was exceptionally pleasant and helpful. We ate dinner at the restaurant which was not only convenient but very tasty with a good vibe. Wasn't too keen on the clawfoot tub in my room. Should have paid better attention to the bathroom set up. The bathroom sink's hot water took an unusually long time to warm up. Comments here, not complaints!

I mentioned in my booking that it was my husband's birthday, and when we arrived at the room, there was a bottle of cava with a happy birthday note. The room was cozy, clean, and spacious. Thoughtfulness throughout, such as toiletries, robe and slippers, town guide, etc. The Lee Wendell room is particularly special in the winter if you dine downstairs because you don't have to step outside compared to the rooms at the annex. Will return!
thomasvincent2014 (10/5): The perfect getaway. - Really fantastic wee place. I left my apartment in NYC that morning on a whim not knowing where I was going to end up. When I got to Penn station I decided on Hudson, a place I’d never been. The first place I came across after trekking up the hill from the station was Wm Farmer & Sons. Before I got there I wasn’t even sure I was going to stay in Hudson overnight but when I walked in and felt the vibe, that was it. The very friendly and helpful lady gave me a season deal on a large room with a huge super comfy fourposter bed with a stove fireplace and large bathroom. Fantastic. Downstairs there’s a bar/restaurant with great food and great friendly service. The town itself is beautiful and felt completely empty but I managed to find a couple of gems later on. All in all the perfect getaway from busy city life. An easy 5 stars.

Felt like an AirB&b, not a hotel. Building facade was charming but interior was stripped of any interesting or historic detail.

The staff and service were spectacular. The food at the restaurant was delicious and the service accommodating. The rooms were well appointed, warm and comfortable. Every detail felt intentional, from the cozy interiors to the peaceful atmosphere, making it the perfect place to unwind. The location is truly unbeatable. Tucked away enough to feel serene and relaxing, yet just minutes from everything Hudson has to offer—great restaurants, shops, and scenic walks. It was the ideal home base for a weekend getaway. You can really feel the care and pride that’s gone into creating this space. We left feeling refreshed and already talking about when we can come back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a special stay in Hudson, NY.

My boyfriend and I had the best time - extremely warm and responsive staff, spacious and well-decorated suite, convenient location, and steps away from the restaurant, which was also excellent (dollar oyster happy hour!). The staff even had a very generous birthday surprise waiting in the room upon arrival. Could not recommend this place more! Not applicable. Everything was great. Would loved to have stated longer!

The rooms are comfortable, the tavern is amazing, the staff is always welcoming and helpful, and the location is perfect, especially if arriving/departing by train. If you're planning a trip to Hudson or nearby areas, consider visiting Wm Farmer and Sons.

Galaxy209xx (10/5): Location and comfort in charming Hudson - We were very happy with our choice of WM for our 3 night house hunting trip to the Hudson Valley. The one bedroom suite was well appointed, the bedding was superb (I’m am still waiting for the hotel to follow through with providing us the pillow spec for the bedding. Best pillows ever.) Two items of note - if you are a light sleeper, there is whooshing water sounds that will likely wake you up. We are NYC/LA ppl so building and street noise we barely hear but it was pronounced - old building. Second - to WM management - invest in a better shower head for The Pint. It’s sub-standard for the rest of the room appointments. We’ll likely be back to stay when we move to the HV in January waiting for our furniture to arrive from LA.

shan (7/5): - It's an older apartment and quite charming We stayed at the imperial suite on the 2nd floor. The first night, a lady, stayed on the 3rd floor, talked loudly on the phone till 12 midnight. And you can clearly hear the food steps of the third floor. So you are at the mercy of the 3rd floor guests. Also parking is stressful. The city has a rule that you change sides based on the day of the week, odd or even. We thought for 500 dollar a night, it's silly that we don't have a guarantee parking spot. The first night, we had to come out a couple times to see if there is a spot on the other side.

A short walk from the train station & 5 minute walk to Warren Street which has a great selection of shops/restaurants etc However worth noting many shops/restaurants don’t open Monday- Weds. A useful sized kitchen and large lounge area for 4 people to be comfortable. The team were very friendly and informative, though we didn't have any issues at all. Good shower, plenty of room for my elbows as it was over a bath. We also ate in the bar/restaurant, food and service were both excellent

janemcgilloway100 (10/5): The Best of Everything in Boutique Hotels - A annual Fall trip in upstate, NY has always been in the cards for us and we’ve traveled to many small towns along the Hudson & stayed at charming inns & spas in these towns. This year, because we saw ratings that showed the town of Hudson to be the best of the best, we decided to explore its charms. After checking out William Farmer & Sons and seeing that both the inn and restaurant were top-rated, we made a reservation. From the moment we were greeted by a wonderful reception team to the morning we left, we couldn’t believe our luck with happening upon this inn. The hostess even went outside with my husband to find the most convenient parking spot on the street! We received coupons for a complimentary drink upon check-in and enjoyed them that night on the deck where the hotel provided a lovely jazz concert. Our room was beyond comfortable, clean, quaint, decorated with unique antiques, and large in size; for the most reasonable price per night. Needless to say, we’ve found our final destination for future Hudson Valley trips!

lisarL663AR (6/5): Clean rooms, unfriendly staff. - We were there for our daughters wedding. The whole hotel was filled with wedding guests. We stayed in The Pennington suite. All in all, The rooms were clean and neat. However, we all couldn't get ready for events easily. Especially not in the bathroom as it is very small, no where to put toiletries and they have vintage lighting in there, so it's dark. There isn't anywhere to hang clothes, 1 small closet in 1 room. The management/staff isn't very friendly and they are the least bit concerned or quick to help with a question or problem. They seemed put off if you question them. Our safe was broken and they told me day after day they had to find the key to open it. We had large amts of money for the wedding and jewelry to lock up. They asked me why I was so concerned with not having one bc noone was going to take our things...!! We asked for a valet and they said they didn't have one. I asked the cleaning people & they found one in about 1 minute! The bridal suite, as nice as it was, was infested with bees. This was Sept. and the hotel must be aware of seasonal happenings in nature. This is the beginning of "Leaf Peeping season", I hope it gets better for future visitors.
royjaxon24 (10/5): A Great Stay - Wm. Farmer & Son is not your normal hotel. Our room, the Anne Marie, was unusual but comfortable and convenient. The sitting room provided enough extra space to relax away from the bedroom and the full size refrigerator in the kitchen was also a nice break from crouching to get something out of the refrigerator. Not many claw foot tubs are retrofitted with a nice shower but this shower was fantastic. Spray stayed within the shower curtain and the water pressure was excellent. This room is above the restaurant and bar but the moderate noise is gone by 9pm. Noise from the bar is not an issue. Besides you should be in the restaurant enjoying the creative and wonderful food. The restaurant and bar are first class and not to be missed.We ate there twice and had great experiences both times.Service at the front desk is also a 10. We look forward to returning.

453christianm (10/5): Romantic and luxurious inn on the Hudson River. - We arrived on a beautiful Sunday afternoon for our romantic stay at this amazing inn-after a two hour train ride from NYC up the Hudson River-which I also highly recommend if you have a chance. The inn is about a five minute walk from the train station-uphill but not too hard. It sits on a quiet corner and is very easy to find. It looks beautiful and fits in well with the neighborhood. Check-in was super easy. Staff was excellent and very helpful. The lobby area has a coffee bar and a few sundries available. There is a very good bar and restaurant on-site as well-and it can get busy for sure-so would consider reservations if you are thinking of eating there. They do not use keys-but unique passcodes for smart locks on the external door and room doors. Our room was on the third floor-which is the top floor of the inn. This MIGHT be an issue for some people as there is no elevator and the stairs are pretty steep and narrow. The room was huge-with a king-sized bed, big bathroom with claw-foot tub, an AC unit on the wall, two windows that overlooked the street, a heating stove, two small couches, a fridge stocked with wine and beer for purchase, and numerous antique fixtures which made it very comfortable and unique. There was also a rooftop lounging area with some chairs to seat in. The inn itself was very quiet, there can be a some noise on the street and from the bar-but very livable compared to NYC! Overall I highly recommend this inn-we loved our stay and would go back again in a heartbeat! Some things I wish I would have known: 1. Hudson the town is AWESOME. Super cute, very walkable main avenue with lots of shops and galleries and restaurants and bars-with really good food! 2. Apparently it is busy in Hudson on the weekend-not so much during the week-we arrived on Sunday-so a ton of things were closed until Wednesday or Thursday-we had plenty to do and see-but that might matter for some people. 3. IF you have any interest in art, nature, history, etc-then you MUST go to OLANA, which is the estate of the landscape artist Frederick Church and his wife. We knew NOTHING about it, but had done some reading and booked a walking tour of the elaborate grounds and the mansion-with excellent guides and very inexpensive-we both thought it was one of the most fun things that we did! 4. In addition to the hotel bar and restaurant we LOVED a restaurant called FEAST AND FLORET.
Lim (8/5): We had a good stay at Hudson and location was perfect, near to riverfront and restaurant. - The space, comfortable and location Room for improvement- toilet door has squeaked sound, corner of the bed at master room need a cushion as my hubby has hit on it
Francine (9/5): Charming Inn, great location and food - Wonderful room, and great location. Walking distance to everything. We ate at the restaurant and it was excellent. Comfortable bed and pillows. Narrow stairs to the room on the 2nd floor, had to be extra careful not to slip. The air conditioner was really loud so we couldn’t use it. I told the staff and they said yes they knew about the problem.
