- Donna (1/5): Terrible. Nice staff working in a terrible place. - Did not have any as could hardly wait to leave. No heat. HAD TO BE MOVED. The hotel is worn out, dated and depressing.
- Porter (9/5): -
- Amber (4/5): Would try somewhere else next time. - Check in availability Smelled like strong toilet cleaner, silverfish in the bed, everything very worn. Could hear any hallway noises, curtains didn't really cover the window and there was always light coming through at night.
- Boni (5/5): -
- Laszlo (9/5): -
- Bruce (6/5): - A lack of an elevator was a concern. The doors were hollow core, and the locks were not commercial grade, resulting in security concerns. The room was clean, and staff were courteous and professional.
- Donald (10/5): - Great staff, awesome pizza
- Sandra (7/5): - We came to stay to celebrate my friends Birthday celebration at her daughter's place and then the pub from 9-1
- Jiahua (10/5): - clean room and parking
- Gordon (1/5): - Location Lack of letting me know ahead of time that they were closed due to a scheduled power outage.
Like I indicated, was a scheduled power outage, so they could have been in contact so I could have taken a different route or made different booking. Very poor communication.
- Lynn (7/5): It was a good place we enjoyed the one night of our stay - It was nice inside Liked the bedding compy bed but outside the yard was a bit messy broken fence Kleenex and glasses to drink with but for the price it was fine
- hugo (2/5): - there was a power outrage and I was unable to charge my electronics. Also the old AC unit was off for the same reason therefore I did not got myself to rest as I should. There was no staff on my check out to complain. I am requesting a full refund!!
- Al (4/5): - No one on site to check in. Broken chairs in yard. All in all not very impressed.
- Michele (10/5): Good value and great staff - Great location and modernized where possible Nothing
- Lindsy (10/5): - Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. I stay here often and have never had a bad experience
- Ron (8/5): - Nice and clear place to stay
- BEROLD (6/5): - Small things - like no coffee cups in the room. Only one shampoo package when it's known ahead of time that there will be two people in the room.
- Watt (7/5): It had a bed and a toilet. Noisy at night. Could be cleaner and serviced daily. - Had what i needed, except cups or glasses. Loud at night. Housekeeping never attended to my room any of the 3 days/4 nights. Bed was never made.
- muselle (9/5): -
- Eugene (8/5): - Had supper in restaurant, was good and staff very good and friendly. older faculty. beds cleans and comfortable. needs lots of TLC, repairs holes in wall, remove old cabinets, light bulb in bath and better cleaning. no face cloths - had to ask, no chairs in room. there was room for small table and a couple of chairs. no mini fridge. bed side lamp old and dirty - need to replace both lamps. could use towel rack by sink (in separate area from tub). suggest they consider installing safety grab bars at the edge of ALL bathtubs. Probably won't stay there again - will drive to nearby community
- Dennis (10/5): Restaurant food at hotel is awesome - Great for short stop. , nice town, friendly people.
- Sandra (6/5): - Always have your door latched. I wasn’t paying attention put my room key in the suite next to mine and it opened the door
- Arthur (4/5): - The TV does not work. Handle for the refridgerator was broken off. Microwave was not plugged in. To make it work, one would have to unplug the refrigerator to secure a power outlet. You get what you paid for, I suppose.
- Norbert (10/5): - This is a budget hotel, BUT,, the staff is awesome and it has a restaurant and bar attached with good pricing and quality food. Room doors are old style key lock and rooms are nostalgic, but it is clean and surprisingly quiet. Would stay again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Charged wrong price - On the app my price was supposed to be $98 a night and when I got there I was charged $114 per night. They said because I booked online
- Dawn (7/5): -
- Funda (5/5): -
- Nicole (10/5): - !
- Raymond (6/5): - The property is older, dated, smells of smoke, no elevator.
- Stacey (10/5): - Staff was super friendly. Place is old but i wasn’t expecting anything fancy.
- Máté (7/5): -
- Dana (2/5): - This might be the dirtiest, most decrepit place we have ever stayed. The ceiling is cracked & falling in, the beds are ancient, covered in hair, etc. I have never seen a carpet as stained and gross as this place. The bathroom was better than the living space but still awful. Both kids cried because it was so awful and scary that they thought we would be kidnapped in the night. Tge entire place also smells strongly of weed. The staff were friendly and nice though. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. We went to every other hotel there but everywhere was full so had to sleep one night in this awful dump.
- Samiullah (2/5): - My car breakdown and called the property they said your booking is through Expedia so we will not charge you anything and Expedia helpline also said we will not charge you but after 2 days they charge me and upon asking they said we did not said and when asked to talk to manager they said we have given your number to manager but even after a week he didn't call me l. Other hotels even returned the advance payment if something happens due to unforseen circumstances but these property is really disappointing and highly not recommended
- Robert Walters (8/5): Very enjoyable - Restaurant and bar onsite, both busy. Closeness to main road
- Timothy (9/5): -
- James (5/5): -
- Amrutha (8/5): - Stay was good and peaceful.
Staff is friendly.
Food was good.
wifi could have been better.
- Don (5/5): For the price it was ok.AC worked good and parking was great but the room could of have been cleaner - It has a separate bedroom in the back which was good because it was quite and had dark shades do room was dark. It was not very clean. But bedding was clean so appreciated that.
- Colleen (8/5): - Owners pleasant, property needs some work, some updates would help, very reasonable and close to BC Ferries.Rooms are clean
- Bethany (6/5): - It was a lot dirtier than expected.
- Kathryn (2/5): - This is not a place I would stay again. It’s old and in a pretty bad shape. The cafe was awful too. The girl who checked me in and served our supper was lovely though.
- Frank (7/5): Good -
- Adams (7/5): Good -
- Sandeep (4/5): Disappointing - Customer service There were small bugs in the bathroom and dust on the furniture.
- Kerry (6/5): - I will say the property is old and my room had wall damage, plumbing was iffy and my tv wasn't working; however the staff was very friendly and very quick to resolve the tv problem. If you are just there to sleep, the beds are comfortable, and the price is decent.
- Kerry (5/5): Passable - Staff Room had wall damage and is definitely a bit run down
- Doreen (8/5): - Would have been better if restaurant was open.
- Hom (8/5): - The motel is located in a small town. Rooms are small and old. I found hairs and black spots in the matress so I am not sure if they replaced the sheets for new customers. The place is very quiet with many parking places.
- Denise (2/5): - The room was awful , would never sleep in it GROSS !SO DISAPPOINTED want a refund Expedia please! Rms didn’t look like our on website or reviews please get into with me !
- Patricia (7/5): Good -
- Lillian (6/5): - The room was clean but very dated and small. They should probably knock the building down and start from scratch. But for 100 a night we were not surprised.
- Brian (10/5): - A good motel for a reasonable rate. Older property but good condition. Has a restaurant and a bar on lower level with friendly staff.
- Kevin (6/5): Pleasant -
- Owen (2/5): - Gross
- Sandy (4/5): - We stayed one night at the Barriere Motor Inn, and while the staff were incredibly friendly and responsive to our needs, the condition of the hotel itself leaves a lot to be desired.
It’s clear that the employees are doing their best with what they have — the room was tidy, and you could tell housekeeping put effort into keeping things presentable. Unfortunately, the overall state of the building shows a serious lack of investment and upkeep from ownership. The walls in our room were noticeably dirty and in need of fresh paint. The carpets in the common areas looked very worn, and the bathroom tiles and baseboards could really use a deep cleaning and some attention.
This hotel has potential, but it’s obvious that the owners have not been reinvesting into the property. It feels like money is being taken in without much going back into maintaining or improving the place. First impressions matter, especially for travelers passing through — and right now, that first impression isn’t a good one.
None of this is the fault of the working staff — they’re doing the best they can under difficult circumstances. With proper care and investment, this could be a much more welcoming and comfortable stop for guests.

The carpets in the common areas looked very worn, and the bathroom tiles and baseboards could really use a deep cleaning and some attention. The dresser drawers were all broken and hanging from the frame. The curtains were not effective at all in blocking out light as well as we had to place the coffee maker on the floor in order to find a plug-in.

- spike3563zach (2/5): Shabby but not in the chic way. - Dirty, shabby in need of some major cleaning and repair. Very short staffed. The staff were still very pleasant and did what they could to help. Housekeeping was not a highlight. Carpets in the rooms were filthy. Walls so in need of a wash and paint. Shower curtains filthy. Rooms are very small. Would not stay here EVER again.
- Neville James (2/5): - Reception was great, she could have a job with me anytime.
Food from restaurant was terrible, specially the seafood linguine.
The room was not well lit. While taking a shower the water temperature changed several times I got scorched when it changed to hot.
No counter space in the bathroom.
- Brenda (8/5): - The rooms are old and very basic, but it was clean and the bed was comfy. Served our purpose for the night. The staff were very accommodating and pleasant. There is a restaurant and separate lounge within and the food was good.
- Brian (8/5): - Good value. Fairly quiet at the back of the motel away from the highway. Good price for breakfast.
- Lee (10/5): - Everyone was friendly and helpful, The room wasnt fancy but clean and the restaurant has awesome food. I had the Pizza for supper as well as had their breakfast and both were great food served by fabulous servers.
- Sharon (8/5): - The property is older but clean and quiet. The rooms are small and clean. Beds are comfortable. Bathrooms are clean. No coffee in room. Nice cafe where we had supper. Great beef dips.
- Mildred (4/5): - No decaf coffee for the coffee maker. Was given instant and told to make hot water with the coffee maker. soiled linens. Chipboard shelf in bathroom needs to be painted. Bathroom faucets could be cleaner. No plug for bathroom sink. Had to run hot water in bath tub to get hot water at sink. Could see hallway through cracks around door. Window a/c very noisy. Drapes barely cover windows. Had requested ground floor but was told they were for long term tenants. No elevator. Would not stay here again.
- tony (4/5): - run down condition, no electrucal outletes ,drywall patches ll over,$ 25 charge to ocupy early -worst motel i've been in in years.
- Lindsay (7/5): Good - Location was just fine. We discovered more to Barrier than we've known before. We had the best meal of the whole week's road trip at the motor Inc's restaurant. Motel was adequate and clean.
- Katherine (6/5): - This place was quick and convenient for our trip from Edmonton to Vancouver island. I was disappointed we didn’t get the room we booked. we got 1 king bed instead of 2 queens, we were so tired we didn’t complain, and the building is in great need of some repairs. Tv e bed was very comfy and clean, and it was quiet.
The food and the service in the restaurant were great!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Toilet didn’t flush. Old half eaten pizza in microwave. Tv didn’t work.
- Ted (6/5): Great for a night on the road, with restaurant, bar, and cannabis store right next door. - Frayed around the edges but clean. Restaurant and bar attached were amazing though. Food was delicious and had generous portions. Room was cramped but again …clean. Needs updating
- Shane (10/5): - Very friendly staff, clean rooms. Older building and shows it's age but more than fine to stay while passing through
- Doris (10/5): - Clean room and comfy bed
- Harold (10/5): - Great price. Friendly staff. Nice lil restaurant downstairs. It was a nice get away from the Lil city of Kamloops. I should do this again
- Jodi (3/5): Poor -
- Volodymyr (3/5): Poor - In the photo everything looks much fresher than in reality but for $ 100 I think you can stay overnight, in general everything is quite worn out and requires updating
- Jodi (3/5): It did its purpose, will - Location
- WANDA (6/5): - I checked out a day early, which i paid for, and he still took $40 for pet deposit.
- Dennis (5/5): Needed a night's sleep and that's what it was. -
- Gurwinder (6/5): Pleasant -
- Stuart (8/5): - It's a great spot basic but good and affordable foods really good and the staff are awesome!
- Pamela (10/5): Travelling through - Room was comfortable and clean.
- Kathryn (4/5): Disappointing - there was no breakfast but the place across the street was good, the rates were quite low could have been cleaner, a bit noisy
- Steve (8/5): - Clean, and simple for a quick night stay
- Wade (5/5): Passable - Half the price of the other motels in the area. It was very small. Did not look like the pictures. Facilities are run down. Did the trick if you're only there to sleep. The restaurant downstairs is not open until 11:00 am, so no breakfast.
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (8/5): Very good - Restuarant was good food in evening. Restaurant not open for breakfast. Room was dated but clean.
- Natasha (8/5): Best breakfast in Barriere and second best motel. Definitely worth a stay. - The staff were excellent and the restaurant was great with a bargain breakfast for hotel guests. The room was very quick to warm up and the beds were comfy. I expected it to be noisy with a bar downstairs but it was so quiet and I was not disturbed at all. We also stayed with our 7 year old and we were all pleasantly surprised with how much we enjoyed staying here. It's very run down and the rooms are the smallest you'll get in Barriere, at least the one we had was.
- Robert (8/5): - Room was small but everything was clean. Bed was comfortable.
- Alyce (6/5): - Room wasn’t very clean. Bed wasn’t comfortable at all!
- David (4/5): - There was no hot water for a shower in the early morning.
- Myra (2/5): Very poor -
- Ashley (8/5): Very good - Staff were great, except for one staff member in the bar/restaurant, ignored our table quite often and would sit and visit with other customers instead of doing her job. Loved having the back yard for the dogs!
- Courtney (6/5): Pleasant -
- Alyssa (8/5): - Stayed with my daughter for my 30th birthday as we were in town for an event! Would stay again! Staff were friendly and it was quiet from the room even though its located next to the highway!
- Abby (5/5): Passable -
