Guest Reviews
- Tomer (1/5): Would never suggest - Reasonable staff Forced to leave at 10pm to find another hotel.. bad was awful with slanted mattress, water not working in the shower and no other rooms they could put me in
- curry (9/5): Excellent - Staff was excellent both at check in and check out. Had issues adjusting the water temperature
- Lou-Ann (7/5): Enjoyable - Very comfortable bed with good firm pillow Water takes a while to heat
- ROBERT (1/5): This place is pretty shady. They should be removed as a listing on your website. RUDE staff - The only thing good about this dump is the location We work for a nonprofit and they refused to remove $200 in taxes. I left a phone message for the Hotel's manager. He didn't return my call. I left my businsss card at the front desk and asked him to call me; he didn't. The arrogance is astounding. My first and last stay at Hotel Shocard!

- antonio (8/5): Romantic Weekend - I loved being in the heart of Times Square. The hotel was small and cozy. I enjoyed feeling like I was in a bubble away from the world. I really don't have any complaints.
- Andrea (3/5): -
- aline reis (3/5): pessimo custo beneficio. so tem localização, o resto deixa a desejar. - apenas a localização. quarto muito pequeno, agua do chuveiro custa a esquentar. pia entupida.
- Miriam (6/5): Tight quarters but fine for a short stay. Quiet/Dark despite being close to Times Square. - The location is great and though it is right next to Times Square it is not noisy at all. The room was quite dark with the only window leading to a tight shaft, so no light could get in. We had a problematic shower and struggled to get hot water. The staff dealt with it quite fast but it always took a while to shower (which is important to know if you're rushing to an event). The room was cute but very tight. Fine for a short stay.

- Sherri (1/5): Very uncomfortable stay! - The location was great. The room was very small. You could not walk on either side of the bed. The window was "blacked out" so there was no natural light in the room whatsoever. The water was scalding hot, the bed was very uncomfortable, and everything was just old. We arrived prior to check in time and were told that we had to pay $57 in cash for early check-in (which I foolishly did as we were tired from travelling.) We stepped out for a bit on the 2nd day and when we returned, our key would not work. We went to the front desk to tell the front desk agent, and she started texting someone and then said it would be a few minutes. She finally took the key and tapped it under the desk and said that it should work now, That just seemed super sketchy to me after the vibe of everything leading up to it. We checked out right after that and found accommodations elsewhere.
- MAN YING (7/5): Keep your expectations on the lower side and it is fine. - Really good location between the Port Authority and other subway stations. It’s a short walk from the Newark AirPort Express bus stop. For NYC the price matched my expectations in general. Cleanliness needs improvement - the extra blanket on top of the closet smelled and looked untouched for ages. I needed it because the AC was broken, not a single dial worked on the machine or remote. The shower partition was too narrow to block water effectively, so I had to be careful not to flood the floor. The water ran too hot so the steam was a lot, and when I left the bathroom door ajar it caused the fire alarm to ring.
- Candace (8/5): -
- Kiersten (9/5): - The check-in process was super quick and easy and they held our bags for us both before and after our stay. They also give you a free voucher for a drink at the bar downstairs which was nice. Comfortable bed and pillows as well. Overall was a nice stay. Other reviews complained about the room being small, but I found it to be alright for two people, especially when you are visiting to explore the city and not spending your day in the room. The 1 bedroom unit didn't have a shower door so water gets all over the floor, but not a huge deal if you put a towel down. There was also a cockroach in our room which I know is hard to prevent in NYC but still kind of gross and freaked me out.
- Anna (7/5): Good location, tiny room - The location was great, within walking distance from everything we wanted to do. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. When we got there we were told the machine to make the keys was down so we couldn't get keys to our room. We were told we'd have them within an hour, we waited and did not get them. Stopped and asked on our way out because we had stuff planned and they still did not have them made. The room was incredibly small, the only way to get from one side to the other was to crawl across the bed if we were both in the room. We reserved a king room and though the platform the mattress was on was definitely a king the mattress was only a queen and we kept hitting the edge of the platform since it stuck out several inches past the mattress.
- nola (8/5): - Close by to where I was going No shower door,,water splash in,,bed for 2 pole was small

- WASEEM AFZAL (9/5): Wonderful stay at Shocard hotel , very good location in times square - Very nice location Room Size very small
- Natalia (9/5): - Stayed at Hotel Shocard Broadway, Times Square for one night. Very atmospheric hotel right in the heart of Manhattan — just a few minutes from Times Square and the theater district. If you want to truly feel New York, the location is almost perfect.
I really liked the style of the hotel. It has the feeling of old Broadway and real New York character rather than a generic chain hotel. The room was compact, which is expected in Midtown Manhattan, and the staff was polite and welcoming.
The main impression was the feeling that you are actually living inside the city, not just staying overnight. In the evening, the lights, music, Broadway theaters, and crowds from all over the world create an unforgettable New York atmosphere.
One small downside: even with a higher Booking.com level, our windows faced the roof rather than the city view. But overall, it was still a very memorable stay.
A great option for a short trip, Broadway shows, walking around Manhattan, and experiencing Times Square.
- ALEXANDRINA (10/5): - Raport calitate/pret excelent .
Locatia minunata Totul a fost perfect
- Kathleen (7/5): - The staff was kind, the sleep was good given the location it was quite. The explanation of where to park was not great. There are several iconn parking garages and the one we ended up at did not contract with this hotel so we paid significantly more for parking than planned.
- Saida (10/5): Fantastisch - Personeel doet hun uiterste best. Vriendelijke balie medewerkers. Elizabeth en de andere jongedame waren super. Housekeeping is super. Badkamer was mega schoon. Locatie is echt top. Alles was echt heel goed
- Andrew (3/5): Stay here if you are a plumber or a HVAC worker, so that you can fix the hotels problems. - The only good thing was the location. The shower was freezing and it would be impossible to make it work properly. Even after asking the staff for help they did not make it work. The room was very hot and the thermostat could only be changed with a staff member, which they did not do correctly. It was still very hot so I had to figure it out by myself to make it work.
- Evon (8/5): Great Customer Service and lots of potential. - I love the location of the property. the Customer Service agent, Natalia was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond one of the main reasons I would return. The penthouse suite, has a lot of opportunities. The bathroom tub while deep has no stopper . The handles on the sink is not a simple, hot or cold. You have to turn them in weird directions to work. The microwave does not work. The patio is beautiful and roomy but It would be absolutely amazing if the lights that strung across worked .
- Araceli (10/5): Great stay. - Staff was very professional.
- B (10/5): -
- Meg (7/5): Good spot for a broadway show crash pad ! - Decent bed, clean linens & towels, great for a couple's stay if all you need is a place to sleep.
Worth noting that what you'll lack in a "city view" you make up for in a quiet sleep ! most of the rooms face the back alley of a vacant alley/building and we totally didn't hear street noise bc of it & the AC.
Came for a 1 night stay to have dinner and see "Oh Mary!". the best show ! Room size is small but if you want a big hotel room in NYC, expect to pay big $$. this is a good value for a smaller room w en-suite bathroom, right in the theatre district
- Rafael (10/5): -
- Steve (3/5): Move on to your next option - Sttuggling to say i liked amything but the best I can come up with is
the location was good and the bed was comfortable Room was tiny and i mean tiny - been in bigger cupboards - felt like a hostel probably max 8ft x 12ft plus bathroom maybe 4 feet square - no room to move nowhere suitable for storage window blocked by pathetic and noisy ac unit
- Delfina (9/5): -
- Samantha Henderek (8/5): - Location was great staff were awesome and room was comfortable. We really enjoyed this hotel we didnt have any issues rooms are small but expected in this area so didnt bother me I just sleep in it Could of used a little deep cleaning on the floors in corners of room otherwise no issues
- DonJuan (8/5): -
- Gudmundur (8/5): -
- Yasmin (7/5): -
- Shermon (6/5): It was ok, don’t believe the pictures - Location Pictures were very deceiving. They said we had a queen size bed when it was a full and it was up against the wall as soon as you walk in the door very very small limited space.
- Aline (7/5): Good location only - The location is perfect. It makes it much easier to get to the tourist attractions and the airport When I arrived, there was rubbish in the bin left by the previous guest. I didn’t like the bed and the carpet needs replacing; the air conditioning makes a terrible noise and, as it’s literally right next to and at the same height as the bed, I had to cover it with a sheet.
- Araceli (10/5): Great - Staff was great. Facility was clean. Private. The deposit was a bit high.
- Brustia (7/5): -
- Lorena (5/5): -
- Camiguin (2/5): - Our room was on the second floor and we can hear the band from the bar and no consideration to check in early!
- Jana (10/5): -
- Sara (9/5): Delightful gem, worth every penny! - The room was super cute, the location of the hotel is absolutely wonderful, the PRICE was awesome, and we were extra stoked to get drink vouchers to the amazing Irish pub there!! Garvey's was such a win. The shower in our room constantly dripped, but closing the bathroom door made it unnoticeable. The other thing that we didn't dig was that the shower had no door on it - just half of a wall. That meant water got on the floor every time we showered, even with the rolled towel they left in place.
- Gaitan (8/5): -
- Khalil (10/5): -
- Jean (7/5): Correct - L’emplacement La grandeur de ma chambre
- Alessio (10/5): -
- Stephanie (6/5): - It was very quiet even with being in a tourist area and black out shades were good. No second electrical outlet near the bed so couldn't charge two phones and use a cpap. Water turned temperature many times during shower, sometimes freezing sometimes scalding. Be ready to move. Spent more time adjusting temp than being able to shower
- Steven (7/5): Ok stay for a budget - Clean room, little small but ok. Shower was nice and hot too. Not keen on the windows not opening but that is the same across the world now I think
Small issue, the replenishment of toilet paper was slow and the bar of soap for the sink was small and only had the one for the full 8 nights Not keen on the windows not opening but that is the same across the world now I think
Small issue, the replenishment of toilet paper was slow and the bar of soap for the sink was small and only had the one for the full 8 nights
We had an issue with the couple next door arguing for 2 nights running and I mean full on shouting, swearing the lot. I cant believe no one did anything it was crazy. I know its NY but jeez.
- Errin Shaw (6/5): -
- Andrea (6/5): Okay for 1 night. Best part was the staff. Cleanliness and comfort were acceptable. Won't rebook. - Staff was wonderful! Took a while for hot water to work.
- Axelle (10/5): -
- Papabear (2/5): - Excellent location. Easy check-in. Small but sufficient rooms - clean. Bathooms great. Occitane copy products. AC was loud and not working. Very hot adn uncomfortable in room. Would not stay here again unless they fix the AC.
- Jacob (9/5): -
- JON ANDONI (5/5): -
- Everton (8/5): Overall I think my quick stop was okay, I think I will stop by again soon. - Unique, different, perfect for single traveler. Location was a little hard to find, construction is messing with that.
- yann (10/5): - Emplacement exceptionnel !

- Yennisse (10/5): Happy and satisfied with stay. - Discounts were nice but the comfy bed was my favorite! The beds at more popular hotels always hurt my back. Also really liked that we could check our bags after checkout and keep walking around town before catching the train. Rooms were smaller than expected, but not unexpected due to location.
- Diana (5/5): -
- Wyatt (10/5): Natalia was great. Very helpful and kind - Good location
- Jeffrey (8/5): I enjoyed my comfy night stay near Time Square. - Cozy room with plenty of lighting. The bathroom design was interesting. It was at the end of the hall so no sounds of foot traffic. I also like that we were steps away from Time Square. The staff was friendly when checking in and out. A window view of anything beyond the neighboring building's roof would have been nice. The bathroom door was hard to close. We were right above the venue so the noise comes right into the room. Luckily we were too tired to get disrupted by it.
- Anna Paula (10/5): - La ubicación El ruido del bar dr abajo
- Christine (8/5): - Price location My room was on the front of the building . Bright lights. Room needed black out shades. Manager has been told several times but doesn't do anything
- Karina (2/5): Fix the ac and the water line. - The property was could location and staff was great! The ac was broken and Told the front office and the water was very cold or burning hot where you could take a shower they told us that they have problem with it.
- Ozan (9/5): -
- Antonio (10/5): -
- austin (10/5): Had a great time staying here while seeing broadway shows - Great location and easy to stay at Nothing
- Treml (9/5): Very happy with our stay — would return. - Loved the location, connection to Irish pub, staff was friendly and helpful.
- Jeremy (9/5): Over alll we loved this hotel and will def be back. - The location and cleanliness were perfect ! We also loved Garvy’s bar. The only issue I had with this property was the friendliness of the front desk staff. They were always on their personal phone calls and too busy to even acknowledge us. Checking out we couldn’t even find anyone to help. After waiting several minutes we had to leave for the airport so we just left our room keys on the counter.
- Bela (10/5): A fine hotel! - I love the ambience, accessibility to train starions, food and activities. The music in the lobby bar was great for me. The room was well lasted out. I had great sleep.
- Megan (7/5): Great location and hot water - It was a great location, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean.
The room did look like the pictures The staff talked on their phones the entire time during check in, and anytime you went to the front desk.
There was hot water, scalding hot, burn your hands on the faucet hot. But the shower was tricky, it was very hard to get the water to turn hot, and at one point the steam caused the fire alarm to go off. It was difficult to adjust the water temperature on the shower.
- Cantre (8/5): - Limpieza , ubicación Demasiado pequeño la habitación
- Leticia (10/5): -
- Luca (6/5): Non ci tornerei - Posizione centralissima, vicinissima Time Square. Pub all'interno della struttura, comodissimo.
- Anne-Lise (10/5): Génial pour découvrir New York et profiter d’un show à Broadway - Super emplacement ! Hôtel cosy et agréable. Personnel très arrangeant et gentil. Chambre un peu petite
- MARIA (8/5): -
- Alaze (7/5): Overall nice and convenient stay. Would stay again! - Super close to desired location (TimeSquare)! The hotel is connected to a pub on the first floor. They play live music daily. While cool it does make it hard to sleep before 11 pm.
- Carrie (8/5): -
- Jessica (10/5): -
- Dilon (10/5): -
- Penzel (6/5): Mystical Shower - The location was really, really good. Times square was close by and a subway station was across the street.
The Irish pub below the hotel and the people working there were really fun and you get one free drink per day! The first day I had no hot water but talking to the front desk fixed it for later that day. However, the main issue remains: The shower is a mystic entity that I do not completely understand. It has two controls neither of which did what I expected. The left one had cold hot painted onto it but it also started the water. The right one did completely turn free for me and felt like a placebo I could turn while waiting for hot water to arrive. I believe it was simply a waiting game but every day it took a different amount of running the water so maybe the right dial did do something in the end 🤔
If the water was hot it was often scalding. This again was problematic because setting the temperature, as described above was a mystical process beyond my machinations.
The second problem was the ACU. It was extremely loud (imagine a vacuum running in your room), which was fine because I could turn it of. Sadly I was in the top floor and the outdoor ACU counterpart of the building was close to my window so it sounded often like the vacuum was outside of my window 😅
Overall, while this may sound negative, I still liked the location and cleanliness enough for the price. It is very central and I could not find a cheaper hotel with an ensuite bathroom.
