- Chris (8/5): A great experience with wonderful service. - The authenticity of the space and service was excellent! A lovely experience! A little further away from the entrance of the park than we realised but was a great stay for 1 night
- Franziska Christina (10/5): Don‘t miss this amazing safari and nature experience - great experience!
had 2 safaris - 1 morning and 1 afternoon, where we saw a lot of elephants
phantastic food
great staff and safari guided who know what they‘re talking about
connected to the nature be aware that there will may be bugs or other insects in or near your tent as it is located in the pure nature (you also shouldn‘t be scared in the dark as there is only less light in the tent and around)
- Amila (10/5): Best stay in Udawalawa - Amazing and unique experience in the wild…
- Caroline (10/5): Super fun safari experience! - The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. In particular, our guide Solomons made the safaris and nature walk so much fun and he was so knowledgeable. We appreciated the upgraded tent! Nothing - tents were exactly as advertised.
- Janina (8/5): - Das Erlebnis an sich ist super. Das Personal war super hilfsbereit.
Die Safari mit Salomon war super.
- Alberte (10/5): -
- Stephen (8/5): Great stay overall, special thanks to the young naturalist that welcomed us. - Amazing staff on the camp . Beautiful food and atmosphere. The admin process could be improved (booking was a mission). and the wrong directions were given to us to reach the camp. We also did not get the naturalist from the camp but someone from outside for the safari which was a bit disappointing.

- Eloise (10/5): Fab experience - Felt very close to nature in our tent which was kitted out with a bed, toilet, shower and electricity. The staff were really helpful throughout our stay and the BBQ dinner was delicious. We did the safari through them too and had a very informative guide. Had a couple of power cuts due to the storm but they didn't last long and torches were provided in the tent.
- Alison (7/5): Good - The stay itself was fine - I was the only non-tour guest staying, but was luckily welcomed by others to join in meal times. The communication could certainly be clearer on several levels, including meals and costs as well as the safari options.
Be mindful that there is no alternative for meals whilst there but booking.com is confusing in terms of whether dinner/breakfast is included.
On the safari front, a full day safari is actually a whole day in the park rather than 2 drives morning and evening as you'd assume from experiences elsewhere (e.g. Africa). There is also not enough to fill a full day safari in terms of general sightings unless you're very keen birdwatchers, a half day is more than sufficient for most I'd say.
- Benoit (10/5): Amazing night under the bird sing , feel good to be surrounded by nature - Friendly and interesting people , we loved the outdoor bird watching walk during sunset.
- Nigel (10/5): Really enjoyed it - Staff were fantastic, especially safari staff
- Laura (10/5): 10/10 would recommend! - We had the best two night stay here with Solomon and the boys, the staff could not have been more attentive. They organised lunch for us on our arrival which was above and beyond what we expected. The gentleman with the glasses who delivered our induction (apologies I cannot remember his name), was so friendly and welcoming, he (and the rest of the team) went above and beyond to make sure this experience was unforgettable! The food was amazing both nights, and catered to dietary requirements. We ate outside under the stars both nights which was lovely.
The tent itself was perfect for our needs, the bed was comfortable and we slept very well both nights. You could hear nature which was wonderful.
Solomon is a very knowledgeable and interesting man, he provided great insight into the nature around the camp very locally and also in the safari park. We booked our safari through Big Game Camp and had Solomon as our guide which we could not recommend more, he was quick at pointing out a myriad of animals, whilst also being aware that the park is a safari not a zoo so you are not guaranteed to see anything, despite this we saw many elephants, different species of birds, mongoose etc.
We would recommend this to anyone travelling to Sri Lanka!!
- Candice (7/5): Good -
- Edgar (7/5): Good -
- Fernando (10/5): Exceptional - Neat and comfy 10/10. First time camping and we had so much fun. Nothing. It was perfect
- Hashara (8/5): Good - That it was campsite with good staff not enough space and seatings
- Garland (10/5): Super fun way to see a Safari in Udawalawe - What can I say? Big Game at Udawalawe was an amazing experience! Glamping next to the National Park, Safaris, BBQ under the stars (with fireflies!). The staff are attentive and accommodating. The accommodation is comfortable, clean and gives you a true experience of a Safari. I will recommend to all my friends travelling to Sri Lanka!
- Sanjaya (10/5): Exceptional - The place was really awesome. We had a great time with family.
- Jain (10/5): Great abd reasonable price glamping experience with brilliant hist - Rodney who was our host provided excellent service. Timing of our visit
- Melissa (5/5): Don't bother - plenty of better options - It was fine, but I definitely wouldn't recommend to anyone. It's not that I have any issues camping, I've camped in some really remote areas, with little to no comforts. The location was extremely difficult to find since there aren't any signs for it. Turns out it's because it's not a sanctioned property. Also, the description said the accommodation was in the park which one might think would mean that safari would start minutes from there - but we still had to drive about 40min to get to the entrance of the park. We should have stayed somewhere closer to the entrance.
When we did arrive, the welcome was lukewarm and not super informative. I would have liked more information about the location and the park itself, but no. We went on a nature walk in the late afternoon - that was probably the most interesting part of our stay albeit still underwhelming. The evening meal was shared with a large tour group and was mediocre at best. We'd booked our safari for the morning and following our host's direction, we were to meet at the main tent for coffee before heading out a little bit later than originally planned. When we got there, we found that same tour group had already eaten/drank everything and left nothing for us. When the host showed up, he made some dismissive remarks and seemed put out by our wanting coffee. He ended up going and getting some from somewhere but we were rushed at this point and our departure was pushed back quite a bit. The safari itself was just ok too. During the safari, the guide (the same host from the camp) would randomly call out a name of a bird or animal, but gave us little to no information on them. He also seemed put out by any questions I had. We did get to see a couple of young (not quite baby) elephants, some jackals and a wild boar from a distance. But without any insight/information there was no real value to the tour - especially since you see elephants & birds all over Sri Lanka. A very uninformative safari.
- Jan (6/5): Pleasant - Clean tents but past their best but ok.
Fabulous meals
Staff at dinner were amazing
Safari was great Took 30 mins off the beginning of the 4 hr safari without adding at the end.
Promised and paid for night walk didn’t happen - Solomon confirmed it would happen knowing he was leaving for Columbo at dinner so he basically lied to our face.
- Amila (10/5): Discconect to Reconnect with nature. - superb location within a remote area of Udawalawa. evening walk through the jungle with sunset view is magnificent. accessible via any type of vehicle to the site. very friendly and helpful staff who will always ready and assist you with your requirements. Outdoor Dining area is a great experience specially the dinner around the campfire. Thanks and will recommend to any traveler who is interested living with nature.
- Rosemary (9/5): Great stay. - Had a great time with the family. Bonfire was great, food was very good, tents comfortable and the staff very friendly. Would highly recommend. Proce of dinner was a bit expensive.
- Kiran (9/5): Highly recommend this place. A very peaceful place with wonderful staff - Staff was fantastic, tents were fun and amazingly comfortable, and the layout of the camp was really impressive. Safari was also great. A special shout out to Solomons, who is a fantastic guide Food (especially the dinner) could have been better. We are vegetarian and our main meal was a hodgepodge of stuff, most of which was covered in ketchup.
- Rachel (9/5): An adventure we enjoyed very much for our one night. Everything was so well organised and our glamping was very comforta - Something so different from what we have done in the past. A bit of an adventure.
Staff were amazing
- Abdas (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly staff, clean camp, and excellent amenities. Highly recommended
- Silvia (10/5): Lovely camp with really amazing staff - Super kind and friendly staff. Definitely the best of the camp.
The tents are super well equipped. You feel you are in a camp without compromising on comfort.
The setting is very nice, and the vibe at night is awesome with the bonfire and the fire lamps.
Great option to stay one night if you want to do safari in the afternoon and in the morning. The tents can get quite hot during the day (but there are fans)
- Segers (6/5): Too expensive for what you get. - The safari was nice. High price is not in line with service and quality of food and accomodation.
- food is of poor quality (certainly if you are vegetarian)
- night walk that was advertised (and paid for) wasn’t organised without proper communication
- wifi only very limited available in time (and no wifi or 4G in your tent)
It was the most expensive part of our trip but also the most disappointing experience. We didn’t agree to pay the full price, but our credit card was already charged for the full amount. They told us they would come back on the bill given that not all services have been given according to our booking, but now 48 hours later still no news on that.
- Doug (10/5): - We stayed in luxury tents.
- Marvin (8/5): overall worth a visit but be advised of exhorbitant dinner cost. breakfast cost reasonable. - lovely rural setting with comfortable luxury tent. the camp naturalist called Solomons took us on a morning nature walk sharing his knowledge of birds and local wisdom was advertised as having a night nature walk but were told nothing to see so walk did not eventuate. the evening meal way too expensive even by Australian standards - if advised of cost we would not have agreed to having dinner there.
- Rajapakse (10/5): buon posto🤩🤩 - Heshan 🇮🇹
Highly Recommended

*High security
†Best services

Thank you so much Mr. Solomon, Mr. Wasantha & Mr.
Thusitha for your great service
- Adityan (1/5): Not a pleasant stay especially with children and family !! - The staffs are good and the tents are clean. We have a lot of dislikes in this property first one to say is we travelled almost 4 hours from Colombo to enjoy the camping site but it was not at all matching to our expectation nor the photos which they have shown. The washroom was too small and poor quality fitting / very flimsy. The major part of disappointment was the area is full of giant lizards resembling Komodo dragon very huge and it running around everywhere when we ask the staffs they says it’s our land monitor lizards which we use to drive snakes away from the property. This made us to feel the area was unsafe for us to stay especially children because they will not be aware of the surroundings. Also the tent is bit flimsy and it’s just a zipped tent so we were very skeptical to stay. Then we had lunch which was ok but over priced the ice cream was really bad. The property had arranged the safari for us which was amazing we spotted bunch of elephants (but the safari is bit pricy when we book through the property than the third party vendor) which is also expected so we didn’t mind. When we came back after the safari it was dark absolutely the property didn’t have much lights but in the photos they show it is well lit up and lamps placed everywhere, once we saw this all the ladies and children in the family were too scared to stay in the night. We immediately called the property manager and told we have paid for the lunch / safari and we don’t feel safe about staying in here so we want to cancel the booking / wanted refund. As the booking was made in booking.com immediately we informed booking.com customer care they told they will raise the concern to the property owner and get back. But these property people have told the wrong information to booking.com team that the lunch and safari has been organised and it’s hard to cancel the booking now, where as we paid for the lunch and safari. We only wanted to cancel the night stay. As the property owners told this booking.
- Danny (10/5): Exceptional - Solomon was a fantastic guide and made the stay extra special for us both.
- Richard (10/5): unforgettable all round experience - Big Game camp was an amazing experience. The tent was super comfortable with comfy beds and a shower. Dinner under stars was dreamy and very tasty. the staff were super helpful and attentive to any need, at any hour. The camp naturalist Solomon was a highlight, his knowledge and enthusiasm for animals and birds was infectious. he took us for a walk to see the sunrise from some high rocks near the camp and had an incredible eye for spotting and teaching us about the birds. we also did a safari with the camp that was hugely memorable and enjoyable, we saw lots of elephants, crocodiles, monkeys, buffalo and countless birds. Solomon was always so helpful with info about the latest spot. being a few feet from an elephant and a monkey with baby round it’s waist hopping into the jeep were unforgettable highlights. nothing
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing experience to enjoy! Great facilities and helpful knowledgeable staff
- Verified traveler (6/5): best laid plans - As it turns out, we did an inadequate planning job for this part of our trip. Big Game is a tent complex intended to combine lodging and "safari" activity. We had arranged the latter separately at a different venue, and looked to Big Game as a fun lodging alternative. While it offered much more luxury (e.g., bathrooms, some electricity) than might be expected while camping, it wasn't exactly plush, and with the additional complication of heavy rain, the overall experience was less than ideal. There seemed to be some confusion about our reservation (two tents), as Big Game was initially unprepared for the two children in our party. Staff was gracious and anxious to accommodate, but little hitches caused some unnecessary confusion. We spoke with other guests who seemed to confirm that a more comprehensive plan on our part would have produced a better experience. At the same time -- a number of nights in a tent during the rainy season is very different from the same nights in a hotel room.
- neil (6/5): Great staff, but By no means luxury - Was not a luxury camping experience as advertised, more tent with a toilet and that’s about it. Fan hardly worked and the room was filled with creatures. Toilet area stunk as there was no trap to waste to keep smells out.
Shower didn’t work, but as a plumber I managed to fix it, was clogged with gunk in shower head.
Food in the evening could have been excellent as setting was great surrounded by fire, but unfortunately the food was cold and pretty average for the price paid.
Safari was the highlight but you can get a taxi to the park entrance and save yourself a lot of money.
The staff was great, shame the rest was poor
- Catalin (10/5): Nature stay - Beautiful camping stay. Take all the contacts possible if you travel to this place independently as it is not easy to find. Suggest asking for assistance on how to get there from the hotel before you go. Food was excellent, tents very good as well, staff very polite and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great stay! Excellent staff and service. We had a beautiful dinner on the property at night. We arrived very late at night and the staff we very accommodating towards us, they scheduled a slightly later safari so we could sleep in.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Truly exciting. Wish there was more communication between arrival, what's provided, etc
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fantastic camping experience - The Big Game camp was everything we expected, quality Glamping. The staff are extremely accomodating and will help with any requirements you may have. The traditional Sri Lanka meals, breakfast lunch and dinner are as good as the restaurants we've eaten at, very very good.
Dinner starts around a fire pit, and the moves to a romantic table for two under the stars near one of the big central park trees. It's great to star gaze in a country environment where there is so little surrounding light.
If you're looking for a glamping experience I'd highly recommend staying, but recommend you try to stay in an off peak period. Over Christmas it could get pretty busy.
- Debbie (6/5): ENDED UP NOT STAYING! - Arrived via our hired driver with my partner and nephew. The person in charge greeted us and said you should have called. I said I did not understand that we needed to as it was already paid. He said you have three people? I said that is what I reserved through Expedia. The staff hurried to get us drinks then placed us in chairs in a make shift pavilion to go over the facility guidelines. He (the leader) stated that there is no tent for our driver and I would have to pay for him to stay at a hotel outside the camp. After he exhibited a pompous attitude, we decided to eat the cash and leave. Was very uncomfortable with his attitude. We are VERY easy going travelers but he made us feel unwelcome.
