Guest Reviews
- Fjyorks (10/5): Great fun in the La Fortuna oasis - Fantastic stay
We were allocated a room close to reception which worked well for us. The room was spacious and clean.
The bathroom was large and also clean.
Room service was fantastic.
Breakfast was included and was fantastic. Wife loved the hash browns!!! One one of the mornings we had to leave early for a tour and they provided a breakfast box for us all.
Kids enjoyed the pools (especially the slides) and the staff (and food) at the pool bar were great!
Would recommend.
- CarolinaGirl27 (10/5): Lush jungle resort - The resort was large and well-maintained. We stayed in one of the buildings far from the amenities, so you had to either walk a long way, drive, or take a shuttle. Although we originally didn't like being that far, we grew to like it because it was quiet and peaceful.
We had a nice terrace from which we could probably see the volcano if it was not clouded over the entire time. But we also saw lots of birds, wild pigs, and a large band of koatis that stayed around all the time.
Breakfast buffett was ample. We also ate lunch and dinner at the restaurant, and were pleased with the food quality.
The pools were very nice but crowded, though, as they sell day passes to outside guests. The pool with a slide was not heated, so our kids were disappointed and chose not to get into the cold water.
It rained a lot, so things don't dry on the terrace. We used a clothesline strung in the bathroom to dry our clothes.
This resort is far from town, so you definitely need a car to go anywhere. But they had zip-lining and horse riding on the premises.
- travels_with_2kids00 (10/5): Great resort with amazing pools - We stayed here during spring break trip with our older children. We stayed two nights in rooms on the road above the pools. The rooms were nice and had outdoor area but no view. The pools are the reason I wanted to write a review: they were amazing! And better maintained than any pools I've seen elsewhere: fully drained and thoroughly cleaned every night. Of course that means when they close at 10pm they are really closed. They open again at 10am, but since some are filled earlier, you can go in once they're available.
One downside as a resort guest is that the pools are available for use by day trippers. So they get busier as those people arrive.
And the pools are all ages, so be prepared for little ones wherever they pop up. There are pools for the little tikes, but they aren't limited to those pools.
- V5082CQjamesp (10/5): Beautiful Hotel! - Ready to come back in a heartbeat—we truly loved everything about Hotel Los Lagos. The grounds are beautiful and well cared for, and the hot springs are simply amazing—such a perfect place to relax.
The food at both restaurants was consistently fresh and delicious. We especially enjoyed the Lemnos Wet Bar and found ourselves going back there often. Every employee we encountered was friendly and welcoming, and a special shoutout to Gustavo at the wet bar for going above and beyond.
It’s clear that Hotel Los Lagos has put a lot of thought into creating a great guest experience. We especially appreciated the convenient towel service and the spacious rooms that comfortably sleep six. It all added up to a memorable and easy, enjoyable vacation.
- ianmX8176XF (2/5): You don't want our money - What kind of hotel doesn't want bonus business, we are here to grab our zip linners hot springers who were told we could join them for drinks before leaving, paid of course, but staff won't let us in, too sad, we'll take our dollars elsewhere
- jacquelinep487 (10/5): Bubbling massage chairs and a steep hill - OMG I will be dreaming about the bubbling massage chairs for the rest of my life. A great stay. The only downfall was that our room was up a VERY steep hill - I am in fairly good shape but my legs were killing me every night! Good practice for the Fortuna waterfall though...
- Wanderer528520 (10/5): Excellent - Wow- this place is beautiful. Do not miss the trails the flowers were amazing. Of course, we loved pools and view of Arenal. The birds were also fun to watch. Food was great and the staff were very friendly and patient with our Spanish language attempts.
- ericak906 (10/5): Great option in La Fortuna! - A great experience! This hotel has a variety of pools and pool temps. Staff was so kind and helpful. We ate a lot of meals onsite as well, and they all were great! There are activities like guided wildlife walks and things if you're interest in those. It is fairly conveniently located near La Fortuna compared to other resorts, and ubers are very easy to get into town. One of the biggest perks for us was the layout of the resort. My parents are older and cannot walk a ton, and there are rooms very close to the restaurants and pools, which was a lifesaver for us. 100% recommend this resort. For the price, we thought it was an incredible value.
- 405audreyk (10/5): Los Lagos Hotel Spa & Resort. Go for the hot springs and the spa! - Great weather, food and people!
Our rooms were at the topish of the hill about halfway to the viewpoint. The hill is steep but we enjoyed getting the exercise. There were shuttles but not always quick to arrive.
We thoroughly enjoyed the hot springs, pool with slide and especially recommend getting the volcano mud massage at the spa.
The rooms were very basic but they are not what is special about this hotel. It is definitely all the hot springs and pools.
Hiking to the viewpoint is also a nice trek. We were lucky to come across a very colourful mot mot just sitting on the fence when we got to the viewing area.
We also saw iguanas and heard howler monkeys while at this hotel. We did not see any monkeys.
We were also disappointed that they no longer had the butterfly garden nor the crocodile.
They do have some other animals such as chickens, exotic birds and turtles.
Worth a visit!
- laurapaul2018 (10/5): Super Relaxing and Gorgeous - We had a lovely stay at Los Lagos Resort, the breakfast buffet was fabulous and our room was great. Hot spring pools with varying temperatures were fabulous and jacuzzi beds. Ate pizza from pool bar and it was yummy. Went to lookout for Arenal Volcano early in the morning and had a great view. Saw the horses around the property and property ambiance was really nice.
- BT872023 (10/5): Great stay at Los Lagos - Los Lagos in La Fortuna is a great base for exploring Arenal. The views of the volcano are impressive, and the hot spring pools are the highlight — plenty of options, never felt overcrowded, and perfect after a long day of hiking.
The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, with lots of wildlife around. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Took several walks up the path to the small lake and overlook and saw monkeys, wild pigs, and many species of birds. Restaurant was very good with a huge breakfast buffet. Wifi and internet access are good across the resort as well. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
Solid choice if you want good hot springs, great views, and easy access to everything around Arenal.
- E3880GFerics (8/5): Starting point for adventure - The opportunity to enjoy several activities in one place is a highlight for this hotel. With the Arenal volcano as a backdrop, the available mineral pools, the food and drink choices, including poolside bars is great. Prices were reasonable. The room was extremely comfortable. Staff were excellent and personable. The distance via shuttle to nearby attractions was also a plus
- sheris542 (10/5): Loved the mineral pools - We loved this resort! Breakfast was amazing and had something for everyone. The mineral pools were relaxing and we never had a problem finding an open area. Some had corresponding cold pools . The main resteraunt was great, and we found the pizza place extremely inexpensive. There were several trails available- one shorter trail that lead to turtles, ducks and oddly, a peacock! Great place with friendly front desk.
- lizzieh648 (4/5): Day pass - We bought a day pass to use the ‘hot springs’, however they were just warm swimming pools. Very expensive to sit in a pool or two. Great pina colada, however was a very westernised experience. No costar can touch.
- S7502EYhh (10/5): Perfect family stay - Amazing stay. Lots to do on site. Great choice for the included breakfast. Multiple pools and activities. Strongly recommended for families.
- BeachSunFun2 (6/5): Adequate Hotel Accommodations, great view of Arenal Volcano. - We literally were a 12 hour stay so not much time to dilly dally. The grounds are beautiful, saw monkeys in the tress and ring tailed cats running around. The pools are set up really cool from hottest at the top down to the coldest. Unfortunately it was a kid day and it wasn’t very relaxing. The buildings on the property are VERY far apart. So far apart they have a shuttle that we were lucky enough to catch quickly every time. Buffet breakfast was nice. The hotel room has a lot to be desired. Hard beds, bathroom is dated, couldn’t figure out why we had 12 cups in the room until we saw pull out beds underneath the main ones. I guess if you’re a family or friends and need the extra room it’s perfect. I think the price was adequate for what we got but wished the top 2 hot springs were just for adults so we could have enjoyed the real reason we went there.
- Thefacts1 (8/5): Resort With Natural Spring Water in Pool - Nice hotel resort with Hot Spring water in their pools. Also had a nice gift shop and restaurants
- Traveler527849 (8/5): Beautiful hotel with hot springs & perfect view of volcano - This is a great hotel overall. Breakfast buffet is top notch & included in the price. Beware of communication with tourists in US. They sent me an email warning that they would cancel my reservation without confirmation. Because of Thanksgiving holiday travel, I did not get the message for a few days & they canceled our standard room that I booked months earlier. Because the booking was for 12/26 & that is a super busy time of year, they couldn’t rebook me but eventually, after my panic attack, they booked a superior room for us which was more expensive but very spacious and in a quieter section of the property which was nice. We had room 144 which was convenient to pools, dining & lobby. It was a great surprise to see 2 trundle beds attached to the 2 full sized beds so our family of 4 had plenty of sleeping space. Hotel is very clean with maid service daily providing fresh towels & beds made. They appreciate a small tip daily.
Beware of dinner buffet, it is not good & they charge $30 per person plus other fees/taxes. Instead of dinner buffet opt for regular menu or freshly made pizzas near the pool bar. They do have a wood fired pizza oven & the pizzas are quite good!
Don’t worry about transport, the lobby front desk will reserve a taxi for you or arrange for adventure tours. We did everything without a car & it was much less stressful. The taxi was reasonable. About $12US to go into town and $30US for a 30 min drive out of town for our cooking class. We never lost power or ran out of hot water here at this hotel. It was very comfortable & I can highly recommend it.
- Cadetshorty (8/5): Meh - Nice big rooms. Very comfy beds. Large bathrooms and great view of the volcano. The buffet was yummy. The distance from anything sucked though. The shuttle usually never comes. Had to walk from room in dark down steep hills. The front desk staff hung up on me when trying to request tour.
- jenniferhM5998XM (10/5): Highly Recommend - We had a wonderful stay! Our room was very clean and staff was friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful. The food at the restaurant was good and the pizza at the swim up bar was fantastic. Big shout out to our bartender Oscar and the swim up bar. He was very friendly and service was top notch. We would definitely come back
- Badgerfan4life (6/5): One spot on the trip in LaFortuna that was a fun spot to relax. - This was underwhelming, but a "check the box" experience. You can't see anything from the hot springs from where I was sitting, but a nice experience.
- LadyCx (10/5): Beautiful Stay With Stunning Volcano Views - I stayed at this spa hotel for just over two hours before writing this review. When I arrived, the staff were very welcoming and checked me in straight away, giving me all the information I needed about the room and facilities.
The room itself was amazing — spacious, beautifully designed, and extremely comfortable. I stayed in Room 113, which is in a great location with lovely views. There was an option to walk about two kilometres for a full volcano viewpoint, but honestly, the view of the volcano from my room was already impressive.
Around the hotel, there are well-maintained paths, plenty of natural spring water pools, and even a small spa area to enjoy. Breakfast was good, offered buffet-style, and the dining area also overlooked the volcano, which made the experience even more special.
The location is excellent — only a couple of minutes from the activities I had planned, including the volcano, hot springs, and zip-lining.
Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.
- ErikaT312 (8/5): Check Out For The Day! - We stayed in town at an air b n b but were referred to this resort's amenities by a friend that lives part time between CR and the US. We enjoyed virtually a private (the joys of low season) horseback riding tour near the base of the volcano with Adrian (he was a fantastic guide/company!).... we followed that up with a few hours of enjoying the various pools/swim up bar the reaort offers access to as part of our pass for the day. Very touristy vibe, but had a lovely visit. Would definitely recommend to friends..... but be sure anyone riding isn't afraid of being in close quarters with a handful of horses or them running the show (I was just a passenger; they have a mind of their own and know where they want/need to go). Also, the waterslides are fun but FAST - headsup!
- AmberForrest (10/5): In love with the rainforest - My grandmother and I stayed at Los Lagos from 10/20/25 to 10/26/25. This was my second stay at this resort. Los Lagos offers so much; thermal pools, refreshing cool water pools, ample lounge chairs, water slides, gardens to walk, wildlife to see, and restaurants to eat and drink at. I appreciate the excellent dining experiences. The complimentary breakfast is delightful and abundant. The rooms are comfortable and I am particularly impressed with how clean the housekeeper kept our floors! We stayed in room 114 and we appreciated the semi-private patio with a perfect view of the gardens and volcano. We were in close proximity with the towel exchange, Restaurant La Palmas, swim up and Bar Lemnos, the gift shop and pools. Also, the facility is well kept and manicured. It’s an added bonus that they offer shuttles to the rooms further up the mountain for guests opting for villas as well as a quick 10 minute drive to the mirador and mirror lake which is an excellent spot for bird watching in the early morning. I highly recommend this resort for families, couples, and friends.
- GamerZcr (4/5): NOT SUITABLE FOR SENIORS. They cram 5 people into rooms that are clearly designed for 4. - NOT SUITABLE FOR SENIORS. Neither the facilities nor the management are adequate. There are no 5 or 6 person rooms, only “hard like tatami” setups in 4-person rooms.
We arrived at 2:00 p.m. with a 78-year-old senior. We asked at reception if the room might be ready so the elderly person could rest after the long trip from San Carlos. The receptionist got up to check, but the manager, Jeison, stopped her and said check-in time was 3:00 p.m. We waited in the lobby until 3:00 p.m.
The room only had two double beds. The fifth person had to sleep on a thin 2-inch mat placed over a roll-out board under one of the beds. The number of towels, pillows, and blankets was for four people, not for the five I had booked. Reception’s response was that all rooms are like that. They sent an extra set of towels and blankets, but the fifth person still had to sleep on a mat on the floor, not pleasant at all.
Breakfast and the waiters’ service were very good.
What was unpleasant was the lack of consideration for the elderly person and the fact that they charge for 5 person rooms when they don’t actually have them, instead, they squeeze an extra guest uncomfortably into a 4 person room.
- Kellyw151 (10/5): Couples or families hot springs - Beautiful property, lovely rooms and a breakfast buffet. The pools have different temperatures and a swim up wet bar too. Dinners in the restaurant were very good and the coconut flan is a must have
- sannamoo (8/5): Hotel with a volcano view - Los Lagos in La Fortuna, Costa Rica, offers a beautiful setting with lush tropical plants, flowers, and trees throughout the property. It features multiple hot spring pools, volcano views, and opportunities to observe exotic wildlife. We enjoyed our stay, particularly the hot spring pools, which are maintained and cleaned daily to ensure a pleasant experience. Our room, while comfortable, may benefit from some updates, as it was somewhat dated and offered limited TV options, with only one Spanish channel. The pricing did not seem to reflect the room's condition fully. The staff was generally friendly and accommodating, and we appreciated the breakfast buffet included. We also dined at the hotel restaurant; however, the prices were higher than the food quality. Although there is no gym on-site, which could be an area for improvement, we understand that the hotel is classified as a 4-star property, which may be considered during future upgrades. The viewpoint, accessible via a 40-minute hike or shuttle, provides a spectacular view that we highly recommend visitors experience during their stay.
- Yvonne (10/5): - I have stayed here numerous times. I wish the gift shop would have later hours. Or that they would have vending machines for snacks. The customer service at the pool bar wasn’t as good as in the past, we went there to eat almost everyday due to the main dining area having a dress code.
- Petrus (10/5): - I really loved the appearance of eveything. It,s like being in a themapark of disney. The eye for detail is amazing. The tropical look is also very nice. The vew at the Arenal volcano is impressive. We arrived in the afternoon when it was raining. The volcano disappeared completely. The next morning the sky cleared and was completely blue and sunny. We hiked up to the viewing point. And the sights were amazing. The hike.is like 2 kms up and you do need at least some sort off physical stamina, because there are oarts of the road which are quite steep. Breakfast is great and staff very friendly and helpfull. The combination of hotsprings ans normal."cold" water is great. Will certainly como back again.
- Jose (10/5): - Clean water
- Maria Fernanda (10/5): - Me encantó el hotel, las instalaciones y la vista
- Rachel (10/5): - I love the hot springs, pool, hiking
The breakfast is fantastic!
- Vilma (10/5): - Great
- KARI ANN (8/5): - Our family LOVED the pools and the beautiful surroundings. The service from Oscar at the pool bar was incredible. The kids loved the FAST slides and I loved the different hot spring spas…I especially appreciated how they emptied and cleaned the most used pools each day!
Though the rooms were clean, they lacked the same imagination as the rest of the resort. It’s a large space but not creatively designed with sitting spaces or for any privacy. With the large size of the room, it’s a missed opportunity.
When we had a concern with check-in, the manager reached out and provided a kind gesture of wine and fruit that we appreciated. Overall service was good.
Everyone enjoyed the breakfast buffet, we especially liked the omelet bar. The food and drinks at the pool bar were reasonably priced and they had decent options. We had an underwhelming dinner one night but the service was impeccable.
- Gisselle (10/5): - Breakfast was excellent! Room and amenities great and beautiful
- Hardik (10/5): - GOOD HOTEL VIEW
GOOD BAR ACCESS
HOT SPRING
GOOD BREAKFAST
- Rafael (10/5): - Wonderful stay
- Yoana (10/5): - I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The place was spotlessly clean and rooms are spacious. The views were absolutely stunning—definitely a highlight of the experience. Breakfast was great and they have a variety.
The location was easy to find, and once I got there, I really appreciated how beautiful and peaceful everything was. It was the perfect spot to relax and unwind.
The staff were friendly, professional, and always willing to help they really made the stay even more enjoyable.
Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a clean, scenic, and relaxing getaway with top-notch service!
- Melani (10/5): - My wife absolutely loved it. And my little Boy. Had tons of fun. Will definitely be back and definitely recommend great job over there guys.💯
- MattMitchell352 (10/5): Special experience in a gorgeous part of the world - We spent 3 nights at Los Lagos for the La Fortuna leg of our honeymoon. The staff here was kind and eager to serve, as one might expect for off season guests like us. The thermal pools were terrific and so, so relaxing. It was VERY easy to embrace the Pura Vida mindset when you are sipping on a cocktail in a hot spring fed pool.
The room we had was comfortable and clean. The amenities do feel a little outdated, specifically as it relates to access to power outlets. Our room only had 1 or two spare outlets in the living room, which meant that we used our own portable power banks to charge some of our electronics. But that’s ticky tack stuff. We had a wonderful time, and would recommend this place to anyone who wants the comforts of the Tabacon resort just up the road, without breaking the bank.
- Wilky (10/5): - Excellent pools and variety.
- Mariah (10/5): - If I could give this place 20 stars, I would! The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Valentina from the restaurant and Oscar, the bartender. You always felt warm and welcome. The food is delicious and had lots of options. The morning buffet was definitely a highlight. I think I ate my weight in plantains. We also got one of the spa packages and that was incredible. Between that and the hot springs, I was in heaven. There are also animals around the property and it was incredible to spot a family of wild boar from our hotel room. This place is very special. We can’t wait to go back!
- Ronal Perdomo (10/5): - Excellent
- S34VDkellyr (10/5): Beautiful Grounds, Wonderful Updates, and Wildlife Everywhere! - My husband and I stayed at Los Lagos about 10–15 years ago, and we were thrilled to return and see all of the new changes and improvements. The updates really enhance the overall experience while still keeping the charm and beauty we remembered.
On our return trip, we were hoping to show our son some of the animal enclosures that were previously there, like the crocodiles and dart frogs; however, this was one of the big changes to the grounds. One of our favorite parts of the trip was simply walking the grounds. The landscaping is gorgeous, and we were amazed at the amount of wildlife we saw right on the property. In just a short walk, we spotted several different types of birds and even sloths, which was such a special treat.
It was such a joy to see how the resort has grown and evolved while still feeling like the relaxing retreat we loved years ago. We love that this resort is very family-friendly and has plenty to do for adults and children. We highly recommend Los Lagos to anyone visiting the area—it’s the perfect combination of comfort, nature, and adventure!
- Tony (10/5): Great resort with plenty to do - Stayed here for 6 days, rooms are spacious and nothing spectacular compared to a more modern style room but makes up for it with a balcony that faces the Volcano.
There a several hot springs and one has a swim up bar that was fantastic.
They also have a pool with a pretty lengthy fast slide, the breakfast here is top notch.
Plenty of choices to choose from, the hotel also offers a view point, within the resort, that you can take a 5 minute drive that over sees the Volcano, amazing view!!
It’s a short 10 minute drive to La Fortuna so for me it worked out perfectly as I didn’t have to worry about heavy traffic flow coming in and out of the resort.
Staff helps with booking any activities you may be interested in booking.
Overall I’d definitely stay here again 10/10
- JOSE (10/5): - Pools, cabins, parking
- Amarbir (10/5): - Althouh we only stayed for a day but i can easily say that it is one of the best location to see and explore the volcano. We had issue with the generator making noise as the lights were out and they did not take time to help us relocate to another room. Also you can drive from within the property to a point to have better view of volcano. Breakfast in morning was excellent and lot of variety. I can keep on going with pools etc etc but overall a geniune 5 star review.
- Hannah (10/5): - Love it! Beautiful resort. Some parts are outdated but they do an amazing job to keep things looking nice. The staff is very friendly. The only time we had an issue was with room service. The guy rolled his eyes that we complained about the food being cold. Just recommend going to the on site restaurant much better there!! I would stay here again though!
- Bradley (8/5): - Beautiful pools.
- Ersin (10/5): - What a gorgeous property!!! We were blown away by the beauty of the region and this resort. The property is so well maintained and there is obvious pride in the work done there. And the hot springs are wonderful at Los Lagos!!! Highly recommend!!!
- Angel (10/5): Awesome - Delicious breakfast, excellent room service, very friendly and helpful staff, beautiful view of the volcano.
- Patricia (10/5): - I liked the large room size, super clean, safe, relaxing, friendly staff, beautiful gardens and hot springs! Definately will return to Los Lagos
- Kevin (10/5): - Had so much fun in the swim up bar hot spring! Great location.
- Cindy (10/5): - Hot and cold pools were awesome. Swim up bar with tables in the water in the hot pool and landscaping was beautiful around the entire facility. Food in the restaurant was exceptional, which you don't find most of the time at the hotel you are staying at.
- Babu And Camile (10/5): - Comfortable stay
- TATIANA (10/5): - It’s absolutely dreamy
- Samantha (10/5): - Beautiful property. Friendly staff. Thermal pools were wonderful and relaxing. They could use some regular seating inside the rooms (307). Overall wonderful stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff. Spacious rooms. Great for families.
- Gabrio (10/5): - Amazing as always
- Amy (6/5): - The hot springs were disgusting and dirty due too the large number of people.
They sell very cheap day passes while they charge guest of the hotel an extremely high price to share the limited pools with people paying $30 for a day pass.
Water was cloudy, probably from all the kids pee. Will never return here.
- Amanda (10/5): - Beautiful resort. The grounds were stunning. Our family really enjoyed the hot spring pools and the kids loved the cooler swimming pools with slides. The included breakfast was fantastic and the staff on the resort was super friendly and helpful. The room was super clean, although dated in appearance. This did not bother us at all as we were rarely in the room. The only negative I can think of is that there was no weather stripping on the bottom of the room door and at nighttime (everynight) there were massive ants that would come in under the front door. I took a towel each night and jammed it underneath the door to prevent this. The resort is quite large and there is a shuttle that runs to take you around. It was super easy and not even a nuissance. We loved the resort and would recommend to others and hope to come back again one day.
- NORMA (8/5): - Very friendly staff
- Jennifer (10/5): - Beautiful property! Excellent location - close to town but also still peaceful. Would stay again for sure!
- Tami (10/5): - Loved the pools and the volcano view point was awesome!
- Rajeev (10/5): - Hot springs were awesome
- Mark (10/5): - Our room was older showing a lot of signs of wear. The drawers to all 3 night stand would not stay closed we had to put bags against them to keep them closed. With that being said the rest of the facilities were great the thermal pool was amazing and views spectacular. We would definitely stay here again
- Kevin (8/5): - Nice room. Interesting water resort. Good food.
Wrong season. Rained and rained. Never saw the volcano.
- kristian (10/5): - Amazing place, amazing staff. Gorgeous views we loved it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great resort - 2nd time for our family. The kids love the water slides and the wet bar in the warm thermal pool. The restaurants are good and the shuttle service is very efficient. The view on Arenal is stunning.
- Samantha (10/5): - This property has amazing hot springs and nice, new hotel rooms.
- Iris Cassandra (10/5): - Muy bonito, comodo y aguas termales delciosas
- Anya (8/5): - The resort is trully amazing. So wast and beautifully kept grounds with some animals and numerous hot springs and pools with slides. Loved the hot tubs and jacuzzis. The food is reasonably priced and delicious. Breakfast was great. Tge views of the rain forest and the volcano and breathtaking. Staff is very helpful, proffesional and friendly.
However, our first room had MOLD on walls and inside the AC. It was so old and outdated and literally smelled bad and was falling apart. The resort graceously agreed to change our room and the new one was updated, clean, and nice.
- Anne-Marie (10/5): - Fantastic views from our room of the volcano. We were staying in the top side of the hotel which was a bit of a walk down to restaurants and pool, there was a road being worked on which meant we couldn’t go the most direct route. Pool facilities were excellent a lot of family and children around the bar which had an excellent cocktail selection, and food at both breakfast and in the restaurants was great. Thermal pools were enjoyable and relaxing and the walk up to the view point is worth the trip.
- Gerry (10/5): - This property is so beautiful with all the natural springs and views of the volcano.. it’s my second time staying there and each time I keep experiencing something new. I can’t wait to go again.
- Alan (8/5): - Take a shuttle to your room is a bit inconvenient especially if the service ends at 10 pm
- Sergey (10/5): - The pools were good and have different temperatures and mixes of hot springs water. Breakfast is really good. Restaurant is okay, but bar food is as actually much better for dinner!
- Sharon (10/5): - The hot springs are really nice - lots of little pools to choose from plus a 'normal' pool too for swimming. The waterslide is fast! The grounds are lovely, with a viewpoint and a lake that you can swim in. It also has so much plant diversity around the grounds, it is so pretty. The rooms aren't super modern, but they are really lovely and comfortable.
- Sapna (10/5): - Great stay! Wonderful hotel as advertised!
- 875blaket (8/5): Fine - Hotel is a bit dated but a fine place to rest your head. Water slides are terrifying if you’re older but kids absolutely loved them. Restaurant was okay. Service was nice - friendly staff.
Nightlife was more for adults than kids. Had some really loud twenty somethings next to us making a lot of noise all night but that’s not the hotels fault.
- Julie (10/5): - We had a nice big room for a family of six. The property was fun to explore and the breakfast had many options.
- Jason (10/5): - Beautiful resort with a lot of pool/spa access. Our teenage sons absolutely loved the water slide. Breakfast was very good with lots of options.
- David (10/5): - Los Lagos is such a great property. Between the hot springs on site as well as the horse back and zip line tours this place has it all!
- Liliana (10/5): - I was a little hesitant to stay here vs. the more expensive option at the Springs, but I’m glad we chose this one. The included breakfast was amazing every morning with choices for everyone including my picky 12 year old. The grounds are kept immaculate and they literally drain out the hot springs and pool overnight and refill it with fresh water by the morning. The only thing missing from this resort is a small gym. That would absolutely put this place on another level. Definitely recommend doing the horse back riding on site. It ended up being the hi light of our trip and only $65 pp for a two hour excursion all over the property and up to the viewing point of the arenal volcano. Would definitely recommend this resort, especially if traveling with teens as they had a blast on the waterside and pool.
- Jerid (4/5): - Waterslide and thermal spas were excellent. Dinner options were limited and not great. Seemed like hotel was understaffed. Workers seemed tired. I would not recommend breakfast or dinner options at this hotel.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Beautiful property. Amazing pools. Breathtaking views of the volcano. Excellent buffet breakfast. Pristine cleanliness. Very polite.
- Anushka (10/5): - The restaurant was nice and the beds were made every day.
- Eribet (10/5): - Wonderful property. Spacious rooms, comfortable beds. Relaxing springs. Will definitely return.
- hansel (10/5): - Has a lot a of amenities inside the property. Well kept, lots of green areas, thermal pools are good
- Ruben (10/5): - amazing place to come back
- Tina (10/5): - Comfy bed and great breakfast included. Lots to do on the property and close to all the tours.
- W. Peter (10/5): - Super property and service.
- Bradford (10/5): - Beautiful grounds
- Timothy (8/5): - Everything about the property is fantastic. From the hot springs, the pools, the slides, the bar access, the dining, the shuttle service, the location, the backdrop. All fantastic.
We stayed in a Supreme Room. Not fantastic. Just okay. Would be much better if we had a microwave and more room to live. Was smaller than I anticipated. The mixed drinks at the bar were not great either. Other than that, the resort is really terrific.
- Kathryn (10/5): - Loved the hot pool and zip line
- Michael (10/5): - We love Hotel Los Lagos
- John (10/5): - It was a great to ve close to everything. The room we stayed in was large and very comfortable. The customer service was amazing. The shopping is in walkable distance. The restaurants are also in walkable distance. The drive to the beach is about 5 min. We loved it.
- LisaM72 (10/5): A relaxing hotel complex with great facilities and well located to explore Arenal area. - Excellent thermal spa resort with great views of Arenal volcano. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The resort is on a steep hill but the shuttle was quick and effective.
Breakfast buffet was the best we had in Costa Rica. Thermal swimming pools were excellent and naturally heated.
- Karim (6/5): - A typical tourist place in Costa Rica. Many staff did not have a smile on their faces.
I reserved two rooms. In one we had five people. The resort only provided two keys per room.
- PRAKASH (10/5): - We had a magical time here with kids. Will definitely visit again.
- Paul (8/5): - The property has some of the best views in the area, however the rooms we stayed in were a bit outdated and worn, but large. Also they were set far back from the main pool bar area. This made it more peaceful though. The hot springs have many separate areas to enjoy as a couple or group, just wish the swim up bar was bigger. The breakfast buffet was nice, but they had more options 2 years ago. The only issues we had was despite having a restaurant and a pizzaria at the bar, other food options required us to head into town. Over all we'd stay here again.
