• Verified traveler (10/5): Charming family hotel in Santiago - The staff at the Tambre are lovely! It’s a family business and they will do anything to help. Breakfast is very good value with a great range of fruit, cakes and savoury options. It’s a 15 minutes walk to the cathedral.

O quarto é espaçoso e o café da manhã é muito bom. Fiquei no quarto número 15, e só tenho a lamentar que o escoamento do chuveiro estava com problema, mas creio ser fácil de resolver.

Si trova a pochi passi dal centro, in una posizione tranquilla e con affacci sul verde, strategica soprattutto per chi ha un’auto. Pulizia e servizi sono eccellenti, ma il vero punto forte è la gentilezza e disponibilità della proprietaria. È un posto che sa di casa, se torneremo da queste parti ci piacerebbe alloggiare nuovamente qui.

El personal era encantador y hasta se nos subió las maletas a la habitación. De localización también muy bien, por los alrededores hay ciertos bares y cafeterias para desayunar, además está a 15 minutos andando del centro histórico y la catedral así que muy cómodo a la hora de hacer turismo, compras y buscar bares y restaurantes. Nada más llegar a la recepción se nos informó de todo lo que podíamos ver allí en relación con los días que permanecíamos en Santiago, indicándonos cuáles serían los indispensables para no perdernos nada. En resumen, es lugar muy agradable y práctico para moverse. Repetiríamos.

• EVA (10/5): - Esta situada en el barrio de Vista Alegre a 1,2 km de la plaza de obradoiro. La distancia la suple todo lo demás, ah, y el desayuno estupendo y barato. Hay una linea de bus 4 que para casi en la puerta de la pensión.
• Rosemary (10/5): - This was a small hotel which was great for our stay in Santiago. It was nice to have the personal touch. The breakfast was great and a kettle in the room was a surprising and very welcome find. Small car park at the back of the property was convenient and we could walk easily into the city.
• J (10/5): - If I had to choose this hotel again, I would in an instance. Ava, the host, was generous with her knowledge of the area, and gave me and my traveling partner a map of the city and pointed out directions to destinations we needed to visit. The breakfast she set up was generous, and included fresh fruit, local made breads and pastries, ham and cheese and yogurt. As far as the room was concerned, it was perfectly appointed and clean. Great view from the balcony of the cathedral nearby. Bathroom was spotless and beds were cozy. Honestly, I am sad that we were not able to spend more time here. Thank you, PR Tambre for a wonderful stay!

• Ann (8/5): - Our hostess was wonderfully helpful all during our stay. She's a well-spring of information about the city, and she sets out a very nice breakfast buffet. Also, the pension is well-located for walkers like us, about 20 minutes from the cathdral square.

• Angela (10/5): Great little pension gem in Santiago de Compostela - Perfect place in a perfect location in Santiago. It was nice not being in the center of the city and all of its business, especially when you want to rewind and relax after spending 10 days on the Camino. The owner was especially helpful with restaurant recommendations among other things. I believe Ava was her name. Great fresh breakfast spread and very walkable to everywhere. Highly recommend!

The hostress was very kind giving us a lot of tips about Santiago and nice spots to see going to Finisterre. The room unfortunately was on a trafficated road and a little bit noisy , but closing the window it is acceptable. Recommended.

• EDWARD (10/5): - I walked the Coastal Camiño from Porto, Portugal to Santiago de Compostela and stayed in several hotels along the way but PR Tambre was my favorite! The staff go out of their way to accommodate guests. The entire place is very clean. From the street the hotel looks like a nondescript storefront but is very welcoming inside. There’s a nice selection of drinks available at the bar. Breakfast is available for only €5 and was typical of most of the other places I stayed. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the cathedral but there’s a bus stop just a few steps from the hotel and the bus costs only €1! It will get you close to the cathedral in about 5 minutes. There’s also a self serve laundromat and supermarket 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel, several cafes/bars nearby and a really tasty seafood restaurant on the same street as the hotel called Meson do Pulpo. I definitely will be staying at PR Tambre on my next visit to Santiago de Compostela!

The owner is wonderful and goes out of her way to make you comfortable and assist you in whatever you need. The location is a 10 minute walk to the cathedral - a lot closer than appears on a map. There are lots of restaurants nearby, a grocery store and very clean laundromat. We would definitely stay there again!!!!!

Within walking distance of the Cathedral and historical downton, the Pension can go easily unnoticed if you are not looking for it. Once inside, you will find it is welcoming in its simplicity and cleanliness. Eva, the owner, at the front desk is always pleasant and helpful. The breakfast buffet is a great value as well.

We were welcomed and given a full explanation of where to go and how to get around the city with local recommendations too. The staff were absolutely amazing, and were always available going above and beyond for their guests. Great location, easy to walk into the centre and a delicious buffet breakfast each morning to fuel you for the day. Would recommend and return.

• Page (8/5): Super friendly family run hotel - Very clean and friendly family-run hotel about a 15 minute walk from the centro. The daughter speaks excellent English and provided detailed advice about what to do in town. Mom speaks no English but is super friendly if you even attempt Spanish. Rooms are basic but a great value. There’s a small bar in the lobby. I went down for a coke one night and had a great chat with the daughter while mom was making a super yummy tortilla tapas in the adjoining kitchen. The exterior of the building looks slightly run down but the interior is very nice. Would stay there again if I ever am in SDC.

Breakfast was nothing special but it was only 3 Euros. The hotel is a 20 minute walk to the Cathedral. There was free parking if you are lucky outside the door. My only negative really is the hotel charged me twice so I paid double what I should have

Amazing coffee and Tarta de Santiago cake for breakfast at only €3 additional cost was the cheapest quality option we had for a very long time.

Owners are super friendly and make you feel you are at home, room was superclean and warm, they have their own property parking, and place is very close (10 to 15 min) to the Cathedral. Next time we come come back to Santiago de Compostela we will stay here at this place for sure!

• VENNA (10/5): A hidden PR gem in Tambre - PR Tambre is about an easy 10 minutes walk from the main touristy areas which was more of an advantage. There are several very good and reasonably priced restaurants nearby and it was good to get away from the crowds around the Santiago de Compestela area. It is a family run pension and although the father doesn't speak English it was easy to communicate with him. Eva, the daughter is a delight. She goes out of her way to make your stay comfortable and help with any questions you may have. We had one of the front rooms with the balcony which was bright and airy but if you leave the windows open then you will hear the traffic on the street below. The rooms were recently renovated and well decorated. The wifi worked well and the TV had no English channels. The breakfast was well priced and the home baked almond pie was delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant area was friendly and pleasant. The parking at the back was easy to park and safe. We would love to come back to this pension.
• raymond (10/5): Excellent - Again, again,on the Camino, ingles,I have had and stayed in some fantastic hostal/hotel,the tambre is up there with the best!! from booking in to leaving Eva and her family treated me with kindness, respect, and patience, also trying my attempts at Galician! with help of Google translate! Room was spotless,so were staff at all levels? plus it's a way from crowd's in town about 10min.walk only, breakfast in morning of toast,oil,salt, tomato, brilliant!!I will be back, when I can? Thanks again to Eva and family for a great stay! great place to end my Camino in peace and quiet!!!👍🙏

The lady who welcomed us spoke good English and was very nice to give us the map and show us the places to see in Santiago de Compostela. We also run into the cleaning personnel that was very accommodating: they fixed the sink when we were taking a tour in the city. The only negative I can think of is the luck of noise insulation between adjacent rooms. Overall, it was a good stay.
