Guest Reviews
- Millie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hennie (10/5): Gorgeous - I loved it. The owner was so helpful and nice, he let me last minute extend on multiple nights in a row because I am fickle. The hotel itself was gorgeous. So so so beautiful. Shower was good. Beds were comfy. Really convenient location. Free water offered all the time. Wish I could stay longer but alas I must continue on my travels. No bidet :(
- Erdim (10/5): Definitely recommend - Mr Nam the owner reached out in person to confirm my arrival and to ask if i need anything during my stay. The place is clean, quiet and in the middle of the town square. Definitely recommend to anyone thinking to travel to Sapa!
- Robert (8/5): Very good - Nice small family run hotel. Five minutes walk from the central park and tourist office but on a quiet side street. Good eating options all around. Offers motorbike rental. Owner is extremely helpful. Had to check in at 2 am but owner was accommodating and just left the key on the counter.
- Natasha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marie (4/5): Very basics - Place could be very nice but looks like not taking care of. Needs renovation and more life.
A bit dead, no one around. Struggle to find just coffee in the morning.
Very cold room and owner ask for extra payment to get a heater. “Room price is too low to make it free”.
I understood that the hotel went into crisis however I would invest to update the hotel and then make price aligned.
- Maarten (8/5): Central but quiet enough, helpful host which reacted swift in communication - Centrally located, very helpful host, heating blanket very appreciated. nothing
- Yarin (10/5): Exceptional - Rooms are quiet, clean and comfortable with a good hot shower. The hotel is perfectly located near the city center..
The owner is exceptionally nice & helpful The wifi was unreliable.
The room has little heating which could be an issue depending on the weather
- Lily (8/5): Cosy stay, great staff - The man who owns the hotel is so nice and so so helpful. He made sure everything I needed was taken care of including heating my bed with an electric blanket before my arrival, efficiently cleaning my trainers and laundry and he also arrange my transfer out of Sapa.
The room was cosy but spacious for me for a few nights and it was a nice place to stay warm during the bad weather.
The bathroom was clean and all amenities were provided too. For the price of the stay, the hotel was very comfortable. Such a small thing but extractor fan was quite loud when bathroom light on & the key in the room door was a bit awkward sometimes. No real issues at all.
- James (10/5): I was very well looked after, amazing room for the price, thank you so much for everything Nam! - Was located very central, on a relatively quiet street! Access was easy, best shower I’ve had in Vietnam. Excellent room for the price, was cold in Sa Pa so the electric blanket that was provided was so good. I was checking in late and it was no problem at all.
Nam who runs the reception was so so so amazing!
I asked him for a breakfast recommendation and he drove me to his house to have breakfast with him! His English was exceptional and I had an excellent time.
I then later became very ill, Nam was so helpful in providing me with water and medicine and even offering me food! Was easy to extend my stay to become healthy again, with Nam very easily sorting my onward travel.
- Roi (4/5): Disappointing -
- Alesia (9/5): Stay like home - Cozy nice atmosphere place, very kind and helpful host
- Giorgia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kyaw (8/5): Very good -
- Heidi (8/5): Helpful staff, electric blanket only in room, good location - The staff was the best part of my staff. He was honestly SO helpful and kind. I was having a rough first day since I had to leave other hostel since it did not have any heat (I did not realize that would be the case). When I came in, he immediately made a fire and told me to sit down next to it. He also informed me (to make sure I was aware) that the room I booked had only an electric blanket and no additional heat. I was confused by the information on booking.com and thought the room also had heating. But regardless, the staff was so helpful for me. He walked me up to my room right away since I was tired and he made sure the hot water was working and the electric blanket was on. Any time I had a question, he told me to text him. He checked in on me to see how I was doing and made sure I knew there were some additional options (like paying more for a heater or perhaps moving to another location he had which had more heat).
I was feeling sick, so I was struggling with the cold. If you arrive in winter and are okay with an electric blanket or if you come any other time of year, please stay here! The staff is SO incredible! The location is great. Everything else about the room was wonderful (good size, hot water, etc.) It seems there might be some misinformation on booking.com (or perhaps booking.com should be more clear, so I don't know if I can fault the accommodation). I saw this listing having "electric blanket" as well as "heating" (which "heating can vary). But since it listed both, it sounded like there was additional heating included besides the blanket. There was an electric blanket which kept me very warm at night, but it was so cold outside the bed and since I was sick I was struggling with the chill. But the staff was very adamant on being helpful including offering an extra heat for an added cost or even suggesting moving to their other accommodation (which was a bit further away and more expensive, but I needed to spend a bit more on heating). He allowed me to store
- Argie (5/5): Weird experience but not at all bad - Location was great overall. Owner tried to be accomodating as much as possible even if we didn't get to personally meet him (just connected through whatsapp). Cleanliness was bad. There was still hair at the shower drainage and the shaver was used :-( Odd as well that we were responsible for locking the hotel (since I guess we were the only guests and the owner doesn't stay there).
- Toni (8/5): Romantic and cozy. Great location. - The hotel is very cute, cozy, clean and has a nice view. You dont have to walk uphill to get to the hotel.
The location is perfect, and very quiet. It's safe and there are cameras in the hotel. Hotel entrance door is locked at night. Easy-going vibe. The owner is a well respected man, very nice and quick to respond on Whatsapp. English well spoken. Spacious room, very comfortable bed and pillows. Cupboard, desk, hairdryer, mirrors in bathroom and room. Towels, soap, shampoo, cotton buds, toothbrush an toothpaste, drinking water supplied. You can open the window to admire the view. The lighting in the room was 'warm', so it added to the cozy and romantic vibe. Power sockets and lamp next to bed, one bed-side table. There is a kettle and there is an oil-filled heater/radiator, but i did not use it. Water temperature and pressure was great - note there is a switch for warm water.
No problem with mosquitoes. No elevator, but it was not much of a problem.
The showerhead was not adjustable and no place inside the shower to put your soap.
TV didn't work - no remote.
No window in bathroom, but there is an extractor fan.
No bidet.
- Nicolò (8/5): The owner is a really kind person. He organised for me the hiking for Farsipan coming early in the morning at the hotel - The property was easy to find. In the center, yet calm and soundless Wi Fi not detected
- Cristal (9/5): good stay - The best thing about the hotel is the owner who is always reachable and willing to help. He gave us recommendations, booked tours and transfers for us at a very good price and was very kind to us. The room has everything you need and they clean the room every day. During the night it is quiet and the location is fantastic, it's only a 5' walk to the main square. The humidity of the room that we fixed by turning on the heater for a little bit. In general it was a great stay.
- Recluta (9/5): Superb -
- Matthew (10/5): Save the hassle and stay here it offers everything - Amazing location central to everywhere in town easily accessible via foot.
Quiet comfortable room and Nam was very helpful and relaxed vibe. Nothing it was noisy in the morning due to a tourist attraction up the hill but that was no issue.
- Hermille (10/5): Cozy and quiet - I love how clean the room was. Very cozy and spacious! I had a peaceful stay, no noise whatsoever. It's conveniently located at the center, just behind the iconic church. The staff were very helpful too. Mr. Nam helped me book a bus going back to Hanoi, recommended some places to go as well, they were very kind and accomodating. The bus pickup at the hotel was very convenient for me since the rain was heavy on the day of my departure. No bidet in bathroom, which I think is essential for Asian travellers.
- Beatrice (10/5): The owner met every our request. The staff was helpful and competent. The room was clean with all service. The position - The owner met every our request. The staff was helpful and competent. The room was clean with all service. The position of the hotel is perfect, in the center of Sapa.
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Šafářová (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice room and services of Mr Nam. He was really helpful with everything, arrange for us a bus. The room was very nice on a good spot in Sapa. Eady check in and check out. Would recommend to anyone staying in Sapa.
- Matthew (10/5): I arrived very unwell and the owner did everything he possibly could to make my stay as comfortable and restful while I - The location was perfect ,the room was clean, the staff are amazing
- Hsiao-lan (9/5): Superb - The owner is very helpful and help me arrange the trips. Highly recommended!!
- Volker (10/5): Exceptional - Clean and big room and the manager was very helpful and friendly
- Jack (10/5): Amazing quiet stay - The location, the room had all needed amenities, we also had a heated blanket which was a nice touch. We arrived at 2am and Nam Hong had stayed to ensure we checked in easily. Would definitely recommend this place to stay! Nothing
- Lorinda (10/5): Exceptional - Nice room layout with hardwood furniture. Sizable bathroom. Comfortable bed. Quiet. Two chairs and a desk. Daily cleaning service. Staff was very friendly, helpful, and responsive. Entry room on first floor had a nice fire since weather was a bit cold. We look forward to returning especially after the renovation is complete. Needs some updating, which according to the owner is planned to start soon. Some of the electrical sockets were loose. Most of the time, nobody was manning the welcome area on the first floor.
- Hill (10/5): Exceptional - After a long delayed bus from Dien Bien to Sa Pa arrived in misty rain , the welcome to The Thai Binh Hotel is unsurpassed. A warm fire 🔥, a hot coffee , & a all so welcoming manager ..The rooms warm heated bed was more icing on the cake , The room was all we had wanted & expected. Highly Recommend
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional - The host was very helpful. He booked our bus tickets to Hanoi. The location is pretty good quite close to the center of town not far from 90 pub and Chicago pizza. The room was really comfortable and we loved the heated blanket.
- Caitlin (9/5): An enjoyable stay with a helpful owner - We booked that morning and were able to self check-in later that morning which was amazing.
Everything was very clean and comfortable. The beds had electric blankets which was great for keeping us warm and the shower had lovely hot water.
The owner was extremely helpful. We were able to settle our payment in the evening and he helped us organised transport to our bus stop by ringing the bus company for us so that we could get picked up from the hotel, which saved us a lot of time in the morning.
- Amy (10/5): Amazing stay - Amazing host, so friendly and helped us so much! With so much trust too!
- Nir (4/5): Disappointing - Nothing There was no stuff
I seems abendend
The water butels was used before..
On the shower was used soup
If i would arrived earlier time i would leave.
- Ashley (6/5): Pleasant - the location is great, they help organise a day trekking and when you get the breakfast menu then the breakfast is great aswell. the staff was not helpful and did not speak english at all. the first morning she did not offer us the breakfast menu (which we did get the second day) so we just got what she wanted to make. you can pay by card at this property they say on booking and also with stickers at the reception but when checking out it suddenly was not possible anymore. when asked to speak to the owner she did not listen and had to ask multiple times. we also had really bad wifi in our room and was not really fixed when asked.
- Chan (7/5): Good - near han rong mountain
- Agathe (10/5): Feels like a stay with a local family in Sapa ! - First thing in mind is : hot bed (the mattress was self heating it was amazing and necessary because it was so cold outside !). The staff is so nice !! The hotel is near a really nice coffee (recommend hot coffee, pho bo and juice). Recommend 100%.
- Tubamarkus (6/5): Pleasant - The room had enough space and was clean. Bathroom also ok. The receptionist was friendly - no breakfast available (we didn't book it in advance)
- no payment with card possible
- problems with WiFi
- very cold inside the room
- receptionist couldn't really speak English
- many sockets in the room did not work properly
- Aurore (8/5): Very good - Well located, cheap and spacious Very humid inside (as a lot of places in Sa Pa)
Electric heating to plug in and electric blanket in the bed made the nights more comfortable.
- Andrea (9/5): Perfect introduction to beautiful Vietnam - Location is great! Centrally located but yet in a quiet side street. Easy walking distance to everything.
I arrived late at night and it was quite cold outside. The electric blanket made the bed feel quickly cosy warm.
The owners, Nam and his wife, were amazing and beyond kind! Nam made arrangements for the sleeper bus from Hanoi airport, a wonderful trekking tour in Sapa and was always available for questions. When he learned I was a solo traveler visiting Vietnam for the first time, he took me under his wings making sure my travels to and from Sapa went smoothly. Communication was no problem. Having lived in New Zealand his English is excellent.
The highlight was a delicious breakfast at Nam's second property, Sapa Garden B & B - a gorgeous little piece of heaven a short distance from Sapa center. I only wish I had arrived in Sapa in April to see this meticulously designed and lovingly kept garden in full bloom. The pastel exterior and the intricate interior woodwork reminded me of a Swiss or Italian chalet. Just beautiful! The electric blanket and the outlet for the space heater were on the same electric circuit. So I did not realize that once I turn off the blanket the space heater is also off. Made the morning hours a bit chilly. Was easily resolved by using another outlet away from the desk.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leon (10/5): Best kept secret in Sapa - I liked that it was off the main path but still close to the main entertainment of Sapa. It was quiet in the room with everything I needed for the season. The decor was nice looking and it had a home feeling. The price for a private room with toilet was better than the local hostels. I will definitely use this hotel for all my future visits to Sapa.
- Sophie (3/5): Poor - Good location The bed was as hard as a rock, sleeping on a slab of concrete may have been more comfortable. The room wasn't cleaned during the day.
No overhead lights in the room, just a single one by the bed and the bathroom lights, so it was quite dark.
- Paul (7/5): Ok for short stay - very small family run hotel, had few little issues and they did there best to help. no air conditioning/ heaters only oil bar heaters used. they worked so was ok.
- Louise (10/5): Affordable room in a great location with a caring and helpful host - The best part of our stay was our wonderful host Nam Hong. Before we even arrived in Sa Pa he reached out to help us navigate how to reach the town and offered to help book transport there.
Even though we arrived very early we were able to leave our bags in the lobby when the hotel opened at 6.30am until check in at 12 (most places do check in at 2pm so that was also an added bonus!) We also enjoyed a coffee by the fire place in the lobby which was a lovely spot to chill out. He helped us to organize a trekking tour to Mount Fansipan and everyone involved was incredible! When there was an issue with the cable car him and the guide did everything they could to keep us updated on the situation and helped as much as possible. Very generous and helpful people who made our stay so wonderful. He also booked us a sleeper bus back to Hanoi and even upgraded our seats for us! Such a legend. His English is immaculate so it was very easy to communicate!
The rooms were basic but comfortable and very cozy and warm because of electric blankets and a heater. The shower was really hot too! The location was also brilliant, very central to walk to the center of town and down to the lake but we didn't have any issues with loud noises from bars and restaurants because it was tucked away in a back street. It was close to lots of food stands, restaurants and bars so very easy walking location. Nothing!
- Tim (9/5): Superb - Price quality is very good, the rooms have a modern bathroom. The owner speaks good english and was helpfull with organizing tours and transport. The rooms also have an electric heater for cold nights. None
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - Good location, and very helpful and friendly host. Also, the bed heaters worked wonders!
- Robert (8/5): enjoyable stay - Great location, plenty of hot water, electric blanket in bed, balcony, good Wifi , cosy fire in main reception, owner spoke good English, day trips can be arranged here and also shuttle to Lao Cai railway station No breakfast provided
- Márton (3/5): Cold room, the internet didn't work, the receptionist does not speak a single word in English. - The time when I left this place. I didnt like the place
- Masahiro (10/5): - 教会から徒歩2分。当日予約で、21時のチェックインにもかかわらずスムーズな対応や、11月初旬なのにベッドが電気で温められていて良かったです。
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice stay - The breakfast is nice! Staff very friendly although we mainly communicate via google translate.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Best host in Sapa, best breakfast and the owner helped so much
- HSU HUI (6/5): - 環境不錯但棉被有發霉的味道,早餐準備的很普通,第2天卻沒有早餐,盥洗用具跟浴巾都沒換新,感覺有點差
- Kerever (8/5): - Good stay.but there was a marriage very Noisy in an hôtel in front of Thaï Binh Sapa. The manager is full of ressources, speaks very good english
- Chris (8/5): Nice location and value for money - Hotel located right next to SaPa Town Square, within a 3min walk. The entrance to Hamrong mountain, a popular attraction is right outside the doorstep. Room was very spacious and clean too. Offers bike rental services.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful and helpful staff.
- Shlomit (10/5): Excellent situated cosy family hotel - this little hotel just in the center of Sapa but in a relatively quiet alley is near everything bus and taxi station, tourism information and tourist buses and on the way to Ham Rong park and mountain.
Very nice ambiance , beautiful lobby and very comfy bathroom and all for a minimum price. Really great value for money.
Very nice owner they give us our room at seven o'clock in the morning!!!
- Suk Ling (10/5): Definitely worth your penny - The hotel’s owner and the staffs has been very helpful with our 3D2N stay at the hotel. The breakfast is remarkably nice as well as the location of the hotel itself. However, one of our room’s bathroom got its water system clogged and we have informed the staff since the night of our check in date but didn’t got it fixed by the hotel management even though we have been kept informing them each day which is a slight disappointment for us. Others are all perfect.
- Kenneth (10/5): Basic, clean and great service. Great value for $ - This hotel is simple and with an ensuite, a fireplace in the room, a balcony with a window that opened and a Tv that worked, not to mention a double bed, what more could anyone need?
The breakfast was cooked to order and the baguettes were only surpassed by the Vietnamese coffee served as we ate.
- Priya (4/5): - Although most of our stay was pleasant, our experience with the manager upon checking out was very negative. Because of it I would recommend staying somewhere else in Sapa. To begin, we were wildly overcharged for services. Then, the manager arranged for a private car and driver for us but the driver literally kicked us out of the car once out of town, leaving us by the side of the road. The manager was supposed to buy us train tickets; he kept asking us to pay him without providing the tickets, lying when asked about what was going on. Something that could have been so simple ended up being very stressful and requiring a lot of waiting time and uncertainty and interaction with someone being dishonest and disrespectful. I don't normally write negative reviews but this was seriously the only bad experience we had in our three weeks in Vietnam. Disappointing and unnecessary as Sapa has a million other options.
- Barry (8/5): Great location - Stylish hotel right in the middle of town. Good breakfast. Friendly staff.
Would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Quaint - The hotel was a little hard to find, but was within walking distance to everything in Sapa town. The owner is very kind, and speaks English fluently.
- An (8/5): nice hotel near Sapa church. - This hotel does not open 24 hours. My sis and I reached there early morning, there was no place to hang out in the town. TV and one of an electric blanket did not work, just informed one of the staffs. they came and fixed them. A bit difficult to communicate in English but it was not a big problem for us.We like a homy atmosphere.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Location! Great hotel! - Staff was friendly, breakfast was
Very good. The room was clean and shower was great. Would recommend
The hotel to any traveler!!!!
- Katie (10/5): Great little spot! - Friendly, clean, convenient with a great view. Lovely included breakfast. Scale of the hotel is very local and charming.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice room and good view.it is very very beautiful - Sapa is very beautiful, Once a time in your life, should see of your eye.
- Deborah (8/5): Great Breakfast - Lovely family who owned the hotel. Great breakfast!
- eliza (10/5): Beautiful hotel, lovely staff - This hotel was spotless. The staff were so warm and lovely. The breakfasts were delicious, and we even rented scooters through them.
There aren't mountain views - but we saw those on our walk. The staff and cleanliness is worth sacrificing a window view!
10/10, highly recommend!!!
