Guest Reviews
- Christopher (8/5): Nice hotel in the center of Bruges! - Perfect for what we needed whilst we enjoyed beautiful Bruges and the beers! We were met upon arrival and given our key for the room, a number to call if anything was needed and the option to eat next door at the family restaurant if we wanted. We spent most of our time out and about and had our hotel room to shower and sleep in. Thank you.
- Jimselle Enid (2/5): - The place itself is very very dirty, it has a lot of mold. Me and my friend went and we were feeling lightheaded. Please don’t stay here, it’s not healthy and it’s an unsafe please. There was no one in the reception and when they guy appeared he went to the room to close the window, that can tell you something. This place it’s not appropriate for people. We only stay there for less than 2 hours and we lost our money. Please, please don’t stay here. It’s a really bad place to stay.
- Charline (2/5): Médiocre - Hôtel miteux
- Thomas (2/5): No thanks! - Unfortunately I had little time to shop around for somewhere else to stay for my trip to Bruges as everywhere was getting booked up quickly, I found the hotel, saw there were few rooms left, quickly checked the photos and star rating and hoped for the best ..my logic was A £300 3 star hotel can't be that bad.. cant it?
Later that day when I had more time I read the reviews and researched the hotel properly.
After reading reviews ,I discovered the 3 stars advertised were really 2 stars, and the reviews were not good at all.
Lots of negative reviews ,numerous mentions of bedbugs ,dirty rooms ,dirty bathrooms etc..
With the risk of potential bed bugs I decided not to stay there and requested A refund ,the hotels.com staff did what they could but the hotel refused to give me my money back.
An expensive lesson ,and admittedly my own fault for rushing in.
The idea of sharing our bed with bugs and infesting our home on our return put us off completely.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location close to all the action. Hotel was pretty dated and the front door didnt open properly
- Verified traveler (6/5): Hotel - Had to pay extra when checking in, said we never answered his message, but never got a message and ended up paying more for the room we requested in our reservation, room smelled terrible, carpeted room
- Luis Angel (6/5): - It does not have an elevator so it is difficult to access with suitcases and small children since the stairs are very vertical. I didn't like that the toilet was not well done. The walls near the bed had snot stuck to it for a long time. Some accessories such as the shower were in poor condition and the bathroom curtain was dirty, and when you bathe you throw a lot of water on the floor.
- Jose ricardo d (8/5): Boa localização - Lugar muito bem localizado.
- Harold (4/5): - We checked in at around 10 pm and they asked me for US$60 for coming in late ,plus another $20 for taxes all had to be paid in cash, no receipt. Every other hotel will leave the key and instructions to get in, Will not recommend this place.
- Elizabeth (2/5): - I would not recommend this property. We found bed bugs during our stay, fortunately we were only staying two nights and saw them on the second night so did not have to rearrange. Could not tell the owner/manager as apart from when we checked in there was never anyone at the desk. Tried to contact the hotel after our stay but never received any response. Expedia also attempted to contact with no luck. I would have expected at least an apology for the conditions, so rude and extremely poor service. The hotel is also pretty run down, very expensive for what you get. The location is the only good thing, very near the centre.
- Alberto (2/5): Avoid at all cost - Awful place, no front desk help, dirty carpet, broken curtains, old pillows, creaky floor, no AC
- Andrew (6/5): - Convenient location with lots of character. Very close to Belfry.
- Suet (4/5): - After reading the reviews, we were apprehensive over our stay. Our first impressions was that it was a direlict home, but someone’s home non-the-less. The person on front desk explained the family room had bed bugs, therefore they had given us two bedrooms right at the top, it was a trek (and we are a healthy fit family), 6 flights with narrow steps. The gentleman helped me with my bag. This was the last we saw of him.
Having stayed for 3 nights, we can see what others have commented on. The rooms we had (only ended up using the room with the toilet and shower) were small. The shower can only be described as a portable shower that has been fitted into the room (rather than a shower room), it was small. But had good strength and heat.
The room was not very clean (squashed gnat marks on the walls). Floor was rather dirty (thankfully we brought our flip flops. Only a fan, no other facilities (like tea/coffee). We only used the room to sleep in at night. The beds were comfortable, but on the last night, we did not have the fan on and my son was bitten by gnats and what looks like lots of little bites (possible bed bugs).
Would I book again, most likely not. The only real positive was the location. Very central to everything we needed.
- Ana Rosa (4/5): - Muy buena ubicación, pero
necesita reforma.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Bedbugs and run down hotel. Stay Away! - Bedbugs and run down hotel.
Doorhandle fell off and smell of mould when entering. At checkin they charge touristtax in cash eventhough touristtax already was payed to hotels.com.
We woke up in the middle of the night with hundreds of bedbugs crawling all over us and the bed. Had multiple bites and had to get out of the room around 0300.
We had 2 different rooms, so since we had 3 kids with us, we spent some hours in the other room before escaping the premises around 0600.
Had to wait a week before they gave the money for the room back, and only got refunded one of 2 rooms since we "used the other one".
Stay away!
- ALi (2/5): - Could not even check in till 5pm they said some reason room wasn’t ready and also he charged us extra ( which is already booked for two separate bed)what Expedia showing on the app. Room has no aircon
Wasn’t clean the room day after we stayed, windows even don’t have window blinds( if not opened the window can’t breathe inside the room)to stop the mosquito
Could not sleep at all because of it 0start if I could
Hopefully this help they will improve they services
- Verified traveler (8/5): Friendly - Very friendly owner. We were made to feel very welcome
- Michael (2/5): - DONT STAY HERE!!! Extremely over priced stayed here for 2 nights and the first night was kept up to 3am with young people shouting and running about with no staff to be seen to keep them quite. The building had very thin walls and was very old with the stairs extremely steep and nearly falling apart. Bed had bed bugs in and have come home with lots of bites all around my body. Only good part was the positioning of the hotel other than that it was a shocking stay for the price. Pictures look so much nicer than it actually is and there is not restraint or breakfast
- Samuel (2/5): - This property was not up to standard. The desk was not staffed at all, the linen was worn and had stains, doors to the bathroom wouldn’t close, the shower and towel rails were falling off the wall. There was mould on the walls, broken door handles, curtains didn’t cover the window. Pillows were uncomfortable and the contact number did not work. Location was the only good thing, but that’s because Bruges is a walkable city. Would highly recommend looking elsewhere.
- Ali (2/5): Do not book this hotel! - I strongly advise to avoid booking a room in this hotel. Absolutely below any standards. Hotels.com shouldn’t be promoting this hotel in the first place.
- Tony (8/5): - Despite reviews citing thin walls, we did not experience that. Yes, you can hear other guests, but only if they were talking loud or coughing, etc. The stairs are steep, and the steps are narrow. There's no elevator, but that's part of its charm. Nice room, with a good mattress, instant hot water, nice shower (the height adjustment was missing, but not an issue for me). One of the two large windows opened fully, allowing us to get chill night air while we slept. Not much of a view, but we didn't care since we were not in the room much. Very clean, but no daily housekeeping. I'd stay here again, especially considering the host changed or room to the nearest at the top of the steps due to my wife's knee condition.
- Cara (2/5): - We booked last minute after an issue with our original accommodation. When we arrived the door was locked and nobody answered the phone for about 30 mins. When they finally answered we were told that the hotel didn’t work with hotels.com, but that they could provide a room for cash.
I said that we wouldn’t be paying again at which point the owner became very rude and hung up the phone.
Ended up staying at the lovely Hotel Rosenburg. Avoid Hotel Cavalier at all costs!!!
Insomma state lontano da qua.
- Senma (8/5): - Agradable el cuarto
- Barbara (8/5): - Location was excellent - all the main attractions on your door step
Breakfast was nice plenty choice and coffee/tea good
Only downfall was we had requested a twin room and got a double - had to pay extra when we arrived only to find we got given the same room back they just separated the bed and said they would never have given a twin room for what we had been quoted to pay
On a plus side room was clean/ shower was great and staff very pleasant
- Tomas (8/5): Bra läge! - Bra läge trevlig personal. Pittoreskt hotell
- Carla (6/5): Goed gelegen, charmant hotelletje.
- gonzalo (8/5): Sencillo y agradable - En general bien.
- Naila (10/5): - Wunderbar
- Stel (8/5): Goed betaalbaar hotel dicht bij centrum. - Prima bed. Authentieke sfeer. Wel wat onderhoud nodig.
Ontbijt was goed.
- Gran (8/5): A typical Bruge city centre hotel - A nice hotel in the centre of the Old City within easy walk of the Christmas Markets.
It is spotlessly clean. Breakfast was good and plentiful.
A good night stop over
Centrum vlakbij, parkeergarage dichtbij. Ontbijt was prima. Zouden er gerust nogmaals naartoe gaan.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great discount hotel - Recommended for a "cheap" stay. Super-friendly staff. Fantastic location.
- JOHN (10/5): Perfect spot in Brugge - The lady running the hotel was super friendly and offered local places to eat and see. She also made breakfast and seemed to always go out of her way to ensure our comfort. We stayed on the first floor and had a lovely double window which opened right onto the street while letting a nice breeze blow through. I would highly recommend this place and would certainly ok again!
- Andrea (10/5): Lovely hotel in a lovely city - Very nice hotel with clean and confortable room and very nice staff. Wonderful breakfast and very helpfull hotel owener/manager. Very pleasent experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We had a pleasant stay at the Hotel Cavalier. Staff was very helpful in planning our visit in Bruges.
- Annie (10/5): Great bed and breakfast, convenient location - We were a group of four who stayed here for two nights in the quadruple room. The owner was great and friendly! She gave us tons of information about the events going on and where everything is located. She also gave us a hotel card that gave us a small discount at museums and other places. The building seems outdated but it was clean. The stairs leading to our room were steep and narrow. We didn't have any problems with it, but others might. The hotel is located right behind the theater and was walking distance to everything. Breakfast was fresh and offered many options. Would stay here again!
- Lewis Family (8/5): Quaint hotel in Brugge - Lovely Owner so very helpful and friendly.
Our accomodation was up some steep stairs but we didn't mind at all although some people may find it difficult. Lovely breakfast in the morning and the owner was so kind wanting to pack some breakfast when she thought we had to leave early.
Great location, friendly and very helpful owner. Our stay in Brugge was memorable - just great.
