• Ann (6/5): Noise issues in the handicapped accessible room; otherwise, a pleasant stay - There's a nice selection of hot and cold food for breakfast, nice pool area, pretty/comfortable lobby area, plenty of parking, convenient location, the room is clean and well-maintained. Being woken up at 4 AM by an employee in the housekeeping area next to my room banging and dragging things around while playing music on his phone. That is the handicap accessible room on the first floor (105). If you see that listed at a 'special rate,' don't take it. It's next to housekeeping, reception and the lobby. In the morning the front desk personnel's child was obsessively ringing the "away bell" on the desk. Otherwise, the property was quiet and it's been my experience that it is peaceful/quiet during previous stays that weren't in that room. There was also a long wait at check-in because the staff member didn't know protocol for checking in the people ahead of me with a special request which required a call to the manager. He was polite and helpful when checking me in though.

Woke up in the morning with a generally wet feeling; carpet was damp as were clothes that were laying out. Put the air conditioning unit on "dry" the night before, but to no avail. Not fun. Wife also had several bug/spider bites, though that was likely bad luck...

They did have dehumidifiers in the halls but it didn’t seem like they got emptied often enough. The microwave did not work. The tv worked intermittently. The toilet was a pain in the butt - the chain kept falling off when flushing and the tank wouldn’t fill unless you stuck your hand down in it to push the thing down to make the seal. The staff were very friendly. Breakfast has a lot of options. The pool and hot tub were good.

We had the big lock on top latched and they couldn’t come in but still attempted again. Breakfast everything was practically out at 9. Coffee was all gone.

• Jason (1/5): - Nothing the staff when we arrived was just plain rude. The girl at the front desk when we arrived was just plain rude. I did not want to use the card that I booked with. I wanted to pay cash. She would not allow me to do that. The room was dirty, not enough blankets. It was supposed to be a king, sweet with a bedroom and a pullout. No blankets for the pull out. When we went to the pool, there were people in there. Letting their kids jump in the hot tub. Naked, no staff members said anything to them. The breakfast was horrible. It's said, biscuits and gravy, there were no biscuits, the eggs we're cold and tasted like water. The bacon was like plastic. The orange juice was undrinkable, and if you tried to make toast, the bread was too big for the toaster. I am a wyndham rewards member, and I have never stayed in a worse hotel.
• Kelly (8/5): 3 out of 5 - I stayed in a spacious King room with a firm bed, which I prefer less firm. Breakfast was good, but the service during breakfast was below average. There’s no elevator, but with only two floors, it wasn’t a big issue. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy. I also appreciated the flat, safe surroundings—perfect for a morning walk or run. Overall, I’d rate my stay a 3 out of 5.

There were no cookies because “they were too busy” (maybe that’s a good thing). When I asked for extra blankets, I was given a fitted mattress pad and a decorative half blanket.

• Mike (4/5): - My wife and I stayed for four nights. I had to ask for towels every day. Room was never cleaned nor was the bed ever made. I don’t expect new bedding every day, but the used towels were never taken nor replaced. I’m happy to re-use my towel if they would dry, but that never happened because of the humidity. Garbage was not taken out until after the third night. My main reason for staying there was because you have a hot tub. It was not working the entire length of the stay. Probably will not be back.

We opened the window yo let it air oit. Definitely helped. Everything in the room was sticky and not wiped down very good. Lot of finger prints on things. Kinda disappointed since we have stayed at AmericInn many times in the past and it has always been a great experience. Ypyr Spencer Iowa location need a serious makeover.

• brian (4/5): - We chose this hotel because it said adjoining rooms for BOTH of our 2 rooms. What I was told is that I needed to call the hotel to request the rooms adjoined each other but since we checked in at 4pm they had already placed other people in each of the 2 adjoining rooms and could not put us in 2 connected rooms. The receptionist was very polite about it but could not figure out any solution to accomidate 3 women traveling to have the security of rooms together. This hotel was 25minutes from our perferred location but we were ok with this hotel for the primary reason of adjoined rooms.

Should have had sausage patties to make like an egg sandwich. No shampoo/bodywash in the shower. Kind of late to ask for it when you are showering and visited alone.

• Amanda (2/5): Horrible. - Where to begin. The room was absolutely gross. They need some sort of update on their carpet! See pics. Also, we showed up for breakfast at about 8 and there was nothing. The hot food was stale and gross(egg biscuit gravy) the waffle maker was not available as it was the day before. There was mold on the fruits in the fruit basket and there were no other options. Oat Meal was picked through, cereal was stale, one yogurt left, 1 milk carton left. It was the worst stay I have had at a hotel in a long time!! And we always stay in budget friendly places.

Most of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful besides for one front desk clerk who could use some extra customer service training in how to speak to adults and children. The breakfast wasn’t terrible and had a good variety. The room was clean but the bathroom exhaust fan didn’t work and the beds were extremely hard. But everything else was in great shape. The pool was great for the kids. The hot tub was down for maintenance for 2 of the 3 nights which was a bummer for the two adults especially since the hot tub and pool were part of why we picked this hotel. Overall the stay wasn’t our worst but wasn’t our best. It definitely could have been worse.

• Rhonda (8/5): Very pleased with stay - The room was very clean. only thing was the exhaust fan in the bathroom did not work. The staff was very friendly and accomidating. The pool and hot tub was amazing. The breakfast was great, very filling. I will definately stay there again.

The breakfast kind of lacked. OJ was out and I couldn't get Apple juice either. There was one muffin, usually you have biscuits and gravy I thought.

• Gary (4/5): Make sure to check - Place to sleep The room was not clean - thankfully there were two beds - I slept in the one that was not slept in the night before by someone else
• Lynell (8/5): - Super comfortable room and very firm bed that we really appreciated. Spacious and clean room. Quiet. They had complimentary breakfast, but because we went during the last hour, there wasn’t much hot food remaining, nor any juice. The sausage links were delicious, though and we had yogurt and bagels with cream cheese and jelly. We appreciated that they had individually packaged granola bars, though.
• Devin (6/5): - Perfect budget friendly hotel if you just need somewhere to stay for a night.
• Debra (6/5): - Called before we got there and asked if the pool and hot tub were open. Was told hot tub was not open but pool was. The water in the pool was frigid!! We could not use it. When i said something the next morning i was told the heater went out. I wish they would have said something when i called earlier
• Lynett (10/5): - Excellent stay. Very nice accommodations. Very clean and modern. Very quiet! Very friendly helpful staff. Will recommend. Will stay again if in the Spencer area
