• ofckaitlyn (2/5): Dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed in! - The room was disgusting. Dust/stains on the beds and carpets. I was wondering if they've ever properly cleaned the rooms and only washed the sheets once a month. This is honestly a health hazard. The bathroom was the worst part about my stay. The mini-fridge and the kettle weren't functioning and it was honestly disgusting as it had a horrible smell. I do not recommend anyone to stay here unless it's urgent.
• peter (10/5): Wonderful Yangon - Enjoyed being close to the Pagoda, can't remember the name, and the neighborhood shopping area that one walks through to get to the Pagoda. A lovely experience.
• allanj169 (8/5): Days of Yore - This was my 6th visit to Yangon, but my first stay at the Golden Butterfly. The hotel was chosen for its close proximity to the Shwedegon, our only reason for this visit. The hotel is ageing, aren't we all, but it still maintains some of its old grandeur with its beautiful entrance displaying timber craftsmanship of days gone by. The reception was managed professionally in a friendly welcoming manner. The room allocated was airy and clean, with a very large bed, TV and room safe. The bathroom was of normal size,clean and well maintained however the old style shower bath configuration may be difficult for the aged or those with hip and back problems as the bath stands approximately 50 cm high. We were only at the hotel for three days/two nights and as stated earlier our sole purpose this visit was to see the Shwedegon. During OUR stay the staff were friendly and helpful, arranged taxis for us and provided us with guidance as to shopping. The restaurant staff could not have been more helpful and friendly, providing me with a large mug for my breakfast tea rather than the usual 'thimble' size cups. The pool area was clean and a nice place to finish one's evening with a cold beer and a glass of wine. Overall this is a low to medium priced hotel ideally situated for a visit to the Shwedegon. Recommended though older or infirm guests should check out the bathroom configuration before booking.
• X8488MTabhisheks (2/5): Worst Massage possible - Just got a full body massage done here and I must say I am very easy to please usually. However, pathetic is an understatement for my review here. In a 90 mins massage, 20 mins were used to clean you and was finished 15 mins earlier. The quality of the massage was also below average. Strongly urge you to go to a place like Health Blessing, a few times better
• barryk401 (2/5): Worst customer service in my life - Walked in the restaurant for take-away - as it was quite late I was quite grateful and didn't pay too much attention to the waiters being sassy and mocking. Bill was presented in kyats - i asked to pay in dollars and get change in kyats, which has never been an issue in 2 weeks across Myanmar. They came back with dollars. I insisted nicely, the waiter pretended to go back in but came back laughing at my face with the dollars, saying they would give me 1000 kyats for one dollar (official rate being 1350, which we used to divide the bill earlier). The waiter brought me to the front desk, mocking me in front of 3 security guys out front and shouted in burmese to the girls at front desk, who didn't care to listen to me and laughingly stood by the waiter for the rip-off exchange rate, incapable of any further explanation. The level of English and care for the paying customer is a far cry from the hotel category they pretend to be in. Left with my dollars, startled, while they acted as they were going to call above manager. Food was good, too bad I found human hair in it. Worst hospitality experience ever, let alone in Asia.
• Raafatkurdi (4/5): My 2nd trip to yangon - This is my second trip to yangon. The hotel below average if I compare it with other hotel, the value I pay in my first trip and service I got there much better. If you'r coming to see the country and visit bogoda maybe good option. I don't recommend this hotel for people who are coming in business.
• al_ditto (6/5): Good - For the rating we found that this was OK. The location was good for us with a park nearby and easy access to Yangon Central. Rooms, beds, wifi, bathroom were all as we would expect at this level. Breakfast was also good. Typical finish in bathrooms with some mould, etc but all functional.
• Jeanine (6/5): central location - but disappointing because it has no charm.. The swimming pool was not attractive at all but the staff was nice Good massage at the Spa.
• DonieoLeary (8/5): A welcome and always a smile. - I booked a room for three nights in July 2017. The hotel is located about 45 minutes drive from airport but the taxi fare was very reasonable at 8,000 Khat. which worked out at about 6 Euro. The hotel is not near the town centre but taxis are cheap so it was not a problem. It is however near the big Pagoda which you can view after a short walk. The hotel staff are the biggest asset the hotel has because every single member of staff was very polite and friendly. The pool is outdoor and very handy for a swim. Food is varied and a freshly made omelette together with lovely fresh bread is a welcome western style breakfast. Room on second floor is preferable as music can be loud on upper floors at night. I Definitely would recommend a head and shoulder massage in this hotel as it left me feeling great by a lady who had strength which belied her small frame. The Chinese food available in the restaurant near Reception is nice and very generous portions too.This hotel is good value for money but you will have to travel further in a taxi to get a range of restaurants and shopping. A rule of thumb is about 3,000 Khat for any taxi journey to town. The smiling and very helpful staff made our stay a nice one. Thank you Golden Butterfly Hotel.
• michaeltD1541NO (10/5): Great location, service,bed and pool - Stayed when we arrived and before we left Yangon. Short walk to Shweddegon Pagoda and Kandawyggi Lake, not too far to downturn or short taxi trip 2-3000 kyats. Enjoyed the service, was the best bed we stayed in and cheapest. Travelled in April so pools were essential and best pool too. Great hotel and great value.
• JohnT344 (10/5): Great hotel great price - $55 a night double room. Hotel was well maintained, clean and very welcoming staff. I talked with staff as is my habit and they all expressed how much they liked working there with most staff 5+years on job. always a good sign.
• Dutchman-travelling (6/5): Some noise from the Karaoke place upstairs - I spend several nights here in different rooms. The hotel is quite nice, and rooms are spacious and clean. I noticed that the higher rooms are not appropriate for jet-lagged people as the noise from the Karaoke bar (7th floor) penetrates through the building. However, the lower floors are fine, and easy to cancel out remaining noise by using the AC. Be also careful not taking the smoking room: the smoke smell is masked by use of mothballs. After return my wife ordered me to throw all the contents of my suitecase in the laundry because of the moth-ball smell. The European restaurant downstairs (next to the Chinese one) is quite favorite with expat families that like to have a burger or some other western food with the children. The breakfast in this hotel is not very exciting, but adequate (both western and Asian).
• F3046IXroberts (8/5): Good location, comfortable room, good value - This place is a really good deal in almost all aspects: location (near the top attraction and also to a nice city lake+park), value (good price) and the amenities: it has a great pool, a decent restaurant and well-sized comfortable rooms.

• 964iand (6/5): Non event - Attended for a dinner which was cancelled but had a good look.The restaurant and rooms are certainly look quite stylish and the facilities are extensive.Nice location overlooking Inya Lake ... and with a great little hot pot next door.
• kathhenry (8/5): Quiet and central - I would highly recommend this hotel The staff were very helpful. The rooms are comfortable and clean. They had some problems with the internet but each time came and fixed it. We were on the second floor which was very quiet. I had a massage at the spa which I can also recommend. The outdoor pool is just long enough to swim a short lap. The food was both western and eastern and everything we tried was good. Scot market is close by and also an excellent shopping center
• Sarah88HongKong (10/5): Very efficient and comfortable hotel - The staff were all very helpful and spoke good English. I found the air con not working in the afternoon and they sent two technicians soon who fixed the problem in just a few minutes. Very efficient indeed. The room with balcony was spacious, clean and quiet. Good wifi, sufficient hot water and sufficient TV channels to choose from. The buffet breakfast included green salad, toast, fruits, congee, fried rice/noodles and fried meat/vegetables in Asian style. The swimming pool was clean too though the water was a bit icy which should not be a problem once I got started. The hotel is also located within walking distance from the Swedagon Pagoda, Bogyote Aung San Museum and the Kangdawi Lake. The taxi rides to downtown only cost about 3,000 Ks and took around 10 minutes.
• Matthew (8/5): Golden butterfly Yangon - Had a great time at the golden butterfly. Lovely hotel with excellent staff who really do look after you. Great food in the restaurant and a nice pool. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the Shwedagon pagoda and just a short taxi ride (3000kyat) from downtown. Next time we visit Yangon we will definitely be staying at the golden butterfly.
• CamilleBoylan (8/5): Nice hotel in a good location - We stayed at the Golden Butterfly for 7 days and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly, always smiling and we had a bit of fun with them. Unfortunately, the first room we stayed in the air conditioner leaked all over the carpet, changed rooms but it didn't have a shower as we requested so we changed rooms again. The next room the shower leaked all over the bathroom floor. Don't get me wrong, they were very apologetic and bent over backwards to accommodate our needs. We had the shower fixed and after that everything was great! If they don't know the problem, they can't fix it. The Wifi was also a problem for a couple of days, but the IT staff were very helpful and sorted it out. We were situated on the 5th floor and had an amazing view of the Shwedagon Pagoda. The food at the restaurant was fantastic and we ate there just about every day. I had the best seafood carbonara I've ever eaten. The karaoke on the 7th floor was really loud the first couple of days and then it toned down, we didn't lose any sleep. We had Christmas lunch at the hotel which was lovely. The hotel is close to the Kandawgyi Lake and restaurants. The Scott market is a great place to shop, it's massive. The 'feel' restaurant is a authentic Burmese restaurant and the food is amazing! Definitely stay here again.
• LaosLife (10/5): By far the best price to quality hotel in Yangon - This is my 7th trip to Yangon and first at this hotel. Ill never book in another. I travel for business. The room, service, food and location are excellent. The hotel itself has good facilities. Bar, good restaurant and karaoke. It oozes atmosphere and is as far from a sterile hotel as one can get. It has its issues. A little aged. The bathroom plug is broken..... But on the whole, and for the price, Im a happy customer.
• GundaBoy (8/5): New Adventure - As we pass this hotel many times & we were about to leave friends who were on sightseeing tour of Myanmar we opted to stay. It was very quiet. Location fantastic. Rooms facing the Schwedagon Pagoda are nicer. The golden lights at night are just stunning. Also has a fantastic restaurant near the lobby. Delicious 😋 food
• ulha01 (6/5): A nice hotel with identity problems - I stayed for five nights in January. The rooms are spacious and clean with nice beds. From the balcony you have a beautiful view of the Scwedagon Pagoda, it's just a short walk from the hotel. The service was excellent both from the hotel staff and in the restaurant. The breakfast was good. I chose this hotel since it has a swimming pool and is located in a quiet neighborhood. If you want to go downtown a taxi will cost around 3 USD. The first room I got was on the 5th floor with the hotel spa on the 6th. The problem was the 7th floor where they have karaoke rooms. They open at 5 pm and close at 2 am and the music was very loud. In fact, I couldn't get any sleep until they finally closed. The next day I complained and the manager arranged another more quiet room on the 2nd floor. As I see it they have to decide what to prioritize, the hotel or the karaoke guests. + Close to the Shwedagon Pagoda. + Nice rooms. + Good service. + Swimming pool. + Quiet air-condition. - Karaoke rooms.
• Getaway567072 (8/5): Well located - We stayed here for just a few nights and although it's location is good, the hotel could do with just a little bit of tlc. The buffet breakfast is good and caters for all tastes - east and west - and we found the staff in the restaurant to be very attentive without being intrusive. Our room was clean with modern furnishings and a decent wifi signal. The TV channels are a bit erratic but that didn't bother us too much. We did feel that the bathroom let it down a bit though. Our tap couldn't be fully turned off and dribbled water for days which after a while became quite annoying, especially at night. All the usual toiletries are provided, as well as a hairdryer and we were a little bemused to see that you are also provided with free condoms... The staff however are wonderfully warm and friendly and made us feel very welcome.
• MyTravel44 (8/5): Excellent staff and quiet location - We stayed here for 2 nights initially, left our bags for an overnight trip then had another night here. The staff are amazing. So friendly and helpful with booking us a bus and two plane tickets. Thank you to everyone who helped us. The room was large with shower over bath so the floor stayed dry. Air con worked very well but was straight onto the bed which I personally don't enjoy. TV, safe etc. Wifi worked well in the room. The room did smell a little of damp I think? Once the air con is going, the smell drops away. The hotel is set back from the road so is a quiet oasis in a bustling and noisy city. The pool looked great but we were too busy doing things to use it. Breakfast was varied. Similar to most places in Myanmar. We met a guy called Melvin in reception.
