Guest Reviews
- Moriba (4/5): Terrible stay and accommodations - Staff wasn’t welcoming when we arrived. Front desk attendant did not greet us. She just slid us a box of pastries and gave us a room key. It felt like a cheap motel. The bed was as hard as a rock and did not have a comforter. When we asked for one, we were told that they don’t provide or have comforters — just top sheets for their beds.
- Bobby (10/5): - Clean room and excellent staff
- Nicholas (8/5): - Well kept hotel with good complimentary breakfast offerings, fully equipped gym, pool and restaurant on a quiet street.
- Sherry (10/5): - The property itself was very well maintained, and that was also extended to the rooms, not just the facade or communal areas. The room was very spacious with a full kitchen and seated dining for 4. Ample closet and storage space. Great for families or extended stays.
- Lisa (10/5): - Excellent option when visiting San Fernando - staff are fantastic, rooms are clean, and the general vibe around the pool and Trellis is great, especially when visiting with family & friends. Definitely making this our go-to.
- Andy (10/5): - Beautiful hotel tucked away in a quiet upscale neighborhood. Staff were very friendly and pleasant. Breakfast was delicious and supper happy for mini mart store! Enjoyed our stay! Room was spacious and very clean!
- Mansoor (8/5): - Good
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was in great condition
- David (10/5): Excellent all around - The Tradewinds (Formely Treehouse) is a really comfortable place to stay. The staff are excellent and nothing is too much trouble. It is ideally located for San Fernando and surrounding area by not being too far from the main roads. Altough it is in a quite location, the security is very good and we were well looked after. The Trellis resturant mirrors the hotel with great staff and good food at resonable prices. We will definitley be back.
- Aleisha (6/5): - Beautiful sen
- Laura-Lee (10/5): - We stayed 13 days from May 2 to May 14th. The hotel was clean, safe and the breakfast was the best especially the Trellis Local. There was 24 hour security and St Joseph Village is a beautiful neighbourhood. Would like to give a shout out to Tanya Laing, Carmen, Jennifer, Jenni , Sintra and Remmi G. The only glitch was we requested 2 double beds however the room only had one. The security guard who brought us to our room stated we would have to deal with it as house keeping had left for the day. I went to the front desk and showed our reservation for 2 double bed, within 5 minutes we got the second bed. We got our delicious Puff’N’Stuff treat after complaining about the bed , not at check-in. The complimentary breakfast was not explained properly on what we can order and missed out on the fruit option. The servers should explain the menu without mumbling or pointing. Over all it was an enjoyable stay. We are planning on visiting again same time next year. Thank you again Tradewinds Hotel.
- Allison (10/5): - Visited T&T with family to celebrate 60th birthday with local family. Needed a hotel closer to the South for convenience. Tradewinds was wonderful and very accommodating. The convenience of having breakfast included daily was a a big plus. The atmosphere was calm and serene. Would definitely visit again.
- Rabindra (8/5): - Clean and food was excellent
- Navendra (2/5): - No vacancy when I arrived
- Jhonatan (10/5): - The hotel was good
- Kenisha (10/5): - the Food is Great
- Juanita (8/5): - The staff was very accommodating and hospitable.
The environment and dining options was very impressive
- MARK (10/5): - DISLIKES:
Water pressure in the shower.
Door not levelled in washroom, gets stuck.
Restaurant closes too early during Carnival time … hours should be extended.
Heavy incidentals charged per day
Lack of local dish options at restaurant.
LIKES:
Staff was great & friendly
Food was great.
Pool areas were very clean.
Musical selections modern.
- Subas (6/5): - Construction noises.
- AnnMarie (10/5): - Perfect place for a safe and enjoyable vacation! Food, including the complimentary breakfast was top class and comparable to any 5-star restaurants in the US, France, Spain or Singapore. The staff were well mannered, courteous, and willing to do whatever needed to make guests comfortable.. I also enjoyed the welcome goodies from the most famous bakery store in Trinidad. Puff-n-stuff, a true Trini experience. I will go back there in a heartbeat…
- Julio (8/5): - I like that the resort was immaculate, and the staff was very polite and professional.
- Patie (10/5): - Wasn’t what I read on the other reviews, the room space was perfect and the view was perfect.
- Marsha (8/5): - The serene atmosphere and beauty of the hotel’s location.
- Donald (8/5): A little bit of hospitality training will help - My stay was short(2nights) and generally good. The only issues I had was with the reception.Firstly,it’s the 1st time I have ever been called by the reception to ask me what time I will be checking out the following day.I find it quite weird and secondly on the day of my departure after having breakfast,I couldn’t gain access to my room and when I queried they have already deactivated my room room and that was just about 9a.m in the morning.
It wasn’t like the hotel even had guests and without any bias there wasn’t more than 8 guests in the hotel .
Not a great way to treat guests as it’s been my second visit to this establishment.
- Jose (10/5): Great service - Always great cozy experience in South!!!
- Deon (6/5): - It’s a small hotel with a small pool. Rooms are oversized which seemed like a waste of space. Shower needs to be upgraded, water seemed to splatter out. Door to room was a light wooden door that could easily be kicked in, exit door at the end of the hallway leading to the side of the property remained open the entire Friday night, and the hotel is a local dinner and drinks spot on a Friday night. There was no elevator on the 2-story property and I had to physically carry my 50lb bag up 3-flights of stairs.
- cedric (8/5): - Great hotel to stay at. Very clean, great hospitality by the reception staff and housekeeping staff.
The restaurant service needs improvement. Breakfast was included in price. If I ordered a 2nd item I was told I need to pay for it. If I ordered a hot chocolate at breakfast I was told I need to pay for it. Never heard of such a thing at breakfast time anywhere else. There was no breakfast buffet. The times I had lunch at poolside there was no one visible to make ordering easy. All workers sat inside restaurant-this area needs improvement for sure.
- divya (10/5): - Very comfortable stay with all amenities available for a perfect 3 day stay and visit to the Cricket Stadium for a match.
- Rajkumar (8/5): - Overall experience was good
- Adrian (8/5): - Safe and quiet area, housekeeping were very friendly, and rooms were comfortable. The pool was abit small and located around the resturant that allows non hotel guests so it was abit awkward using it.
- Amanda (10/5): - Had a wonderful stay we will be back!
- Shawndell (8/5): - The pool is not for children. It's basically 5ft deep end to end. I asked if they could drain out 1.5 ft of water since NO ONE used the pool for our entire time there. I have 4 small children with me and was looking forward to the onsite pool, of course the request was denied. Other than that nice location and wonderful staff, except the one that clearly does not know the hotel offers roll away beds and told me they have no such accommodation amenity. Three days later I get a knock at my door asking if I still need the roll away bed.
- Shawndell (10/5): - Great location and service, no pool for kids.
- David (10/5): - It's my 3rd time staying there and the service is 5 star everytime
- Lisa (10/5): Home away from home. - Our stay at the trade winds wac amazing , our second time stay ing there. The staff was courteous and very friendly. The cleaning staff was also very courteous and kept our room clean and comfortable. The only issue we had the hotel is axi service.. needs a little more professialism. But there are other taxis you can use. Like Deliver me tt. Overall this hotel is a definite visit again.
- Candice (10/5): - Overall pleased
- Mel (10/5): - Facilities were very clean and plenty of space in the room. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Visible security at the upstairs entrance by the back through the night made me feel very safe.
Great choice of food and the standard was very high. Many locals come in to eat which is a sign that the food is great quality.
The pool was also very clean and the hotel provides a great taxi driver if needed.
Overall a very enjoyable stay
- Juliet (10/5): - Property was well kept and set up was convenient. Restaurants were on premises and breakfast was tasty. Rooms were clean but need a bit updating. I will visit this property again.
- Anil (10/5): - Staff was excellent!
- Diana (8/5): - Generally clean and well presented and maintained although there was a persistent musty odor in our room, possibly due to old pipes? Room was very spacious. Would definitely stay at the hotel again. Friendly, helpful staff especially Raj, Barman at Trellis who was super helpful and very engaging. Also, special acknowledgement and very grateful to a lovely man Nigel for a fantastic taxi service involving daily transfers from the hotel to the National Aquatic Center which made our stay in Trinidad smooth.
- Mark (4/5): - Like the fact we could purchase beverages and sundries from the in-house shop and consume by the pool. Thereby making a significant saving from the bar.
It was a shame that this only applied until 6pm.
On the downside there are only two sun beds and whilst space is limited this is restrictive.
- Peter (8/5): Strange location but nice place - Staff were particularly friendly and helpful. The hotel has good facilities and apart from a rather noisy AC everything worked. Nice big bed. It’s rather strangely located in the middle of a quiet residential suburb. We walked from the hotel to San Fernando hill, which was fine. Nothing else within walking distance, that we found, except a good Chinese restaurant.
- Anthony (10/5): - The staff were courteous and they provided excellent customer service.
- Dwayne (8/5): - There were not a lot of places to go without a drive.
- Beverly (8/5): - Good service, pleasant staff.
- Allan (8/5): - Loved my stay at Tradewinds. Had a couple issues which was quickly rectified.
Customer service top notch.
The Trellis has amazing service and good!!!
- Joseph (10/5): - Great stay always!!! Staff was the best!!
- Donald (10/5): A little gem in southern Trinidad - My experience was great. Clean and friendly staff. The only issue is that with the complimentary breakfast, there was some items on the menu you had to pay an extra charge for
- Michael (6/5): - overall nice and some unique special charms but the toilets didn't work well and there was not an onsite skilled plumber.
The location seems a bit awkward as you have to drive into many small roads to reach it but the taxi and local folks know how to get there.
There's an unsightly abandoned building across the road which should either be acquired or demolished.
The place is not structured for persons with wheelchairs. Lot of stairs and no elevators. An opportunities to improve.
Breakfast at Trellis restaurant was awesome!
- Keith Alan (8/5): - Hotel is quiet yet there is always activity by the restaurant are
- Alicia (10/5): - An absolute pleasure to stay here. Everything up to mark with many options for breakfast choices - all complimentary. Tradewinds Hotel is the owner of Puff-Stuff, a bakery with the best baked goods in town. As you check into the hotel you are handed Wi-Fi passscodes, key cards to your room, two pastries from Puff-n-Stuff and information on the gym, restaurants, pool and mini-mart schedule. Tradewinds is centrally located so it’s easy to travel to various places - Gulf City Mall, Chaguanas Market, C3 Mall, and even Maracas Bay. We had a delightful time at this hotel. Will definitely stay here during future visits.
- cedric (8/5): - No complementary drinking water.
For breakfast if you order 2 items then 2nd item you have to pay for. There is no breakfast buffet.
- Gale (10/5): Experience of a Lifetime - Our stay at the Tradewinds Hotel San Fernando was a great. The rooms were large, very clean, comfortable and was beyond our expectations. The staff was friendly, and the breakfast was exceptional . Definitely, will spread the word about this hidden treasure, and we will be back.
- Mark (8/5): - Room was good value for money but food and drinks were very very expensive for the standard.
- Devin (6/5): - The breakfast selection was small
- Addland (10/5): - Very comfortable,loved dining access.Loved tropical atmosphere
- Shamid (6/5): - The front desk area takes the life out of a vacation mode. Dark, dingy and depressing are words that expresses how we felt. Absolutely no energy or typical Trinidadian friendliness from the staff.
The room was almost basement level with a terrible window shade and a curtain on a broken rod behind it, the view of a stairway and cars on the street was very depressing. The pool area is always set up for dining so the one thing that could make up for the things that are lacking is made to feel very uncomfortable for the paying hotel guests. Set up lounge chairs during the day for guests and after pool closes go ahead and set up night time dining...that simple. At checking in offer your guests a printed list of tours that you can assist with bookings instead of a random phone number from some guy and a website to look at. Let the hotel occupants know about your facilities, offer reservations for dining and especially for special entertainment nights.
Saving grace are the staff and food at the two restaurants on property.
Tenisha and Karina at Trellis and the entire staff at Bottles and Bites especially Janelle and Curvin are the perfect example of what one expects in the Hospitality Industry.
Going above and beyond to offer a wonderful dining experience created some great memories for us. We spent a lot of time on property and there's so much potential to be a great overall experience but it seems like complacency by Hotel management has set in.
- David (10/5): Loved my stay here - I enjoyed my stay at Tradewinds hotel. Friendly staff, great food and remarkable cleanliness.
- Tia (8/5): - Nice food, nice staff
- milton (10/5): - Easy accessibility to the different areas. Spacing very well thought out. Extra accommodation on my floor to sit quietly outside of my room. Excellent care of my room. Pleasant, cooperative staff.
- Roxanne (8/5): - It was great but the bathroom was not well clean the day we checked in
- Dorean (10/5): - Very quiet, clean and relaxing. The staff was very nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very quiet, clean and relaxing. The staff was very nice.
- Philip Herd (8/5): - Very surprisingly safe location, very nice staff and restaurant. Extremely comfortable stay. Will stay again, and ideally located with quick access to San Fernando and Marabella.
Only drawback is the need for a car.
- Barbara (10/5): - The employees could not be more accommodating or nicer. We LOVED our stay, the room was amazing!!
- Frederick (8/5): - A great stay for a couple of nights in a comfortable room. The complimentary breakfast was good, staff were friendly and helpful and the overall ambience is pleasant. Dinner at the Trellis restaurant was excellent.
The location is convenient for those with a vehicle, but may be less so for anyone wishing to walk.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We arrived in the evening , the safe was not working , saying low battery
We were told at reception when we reported it that the maintenance workers were gone for the day and would look at it the next day .
- Ijeoma (10/5): - Visiting family and friends from US.
Hotel was great, service was excellent.
- Helen (8/5): - Large room with all amenities:plates, glasses, pots; strong wifi. 2 restaurants on property. Nice bar with pleasant staff.
You have to drive to nearest shopping and other food options.
- Azad (6/5): - Due to no handicap parking, the steps from the parking to the room were my biggest inconvenience due to my disability limitations. Also the pool is located in the middle of the outdoor dining.
- Jerome (10/5): - The staff was excellent
- CAMILLE (8/5): - quiet
- SHERMAN (10/5): - The surrounding area was quiet and acessable. Close to shopping and entertainment.
- Colin (10/5): Gem in South Trinidad - I love staying at this family owned hotel Everytime I go to Trinidad!
The location is close to my parents and the hotel itself is cosy and clean
The complimentary breakfast is always great and the staff friendly and helpful
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I have stayed at this hotel on many occasions and enjoyed it very much. This trip I was placed in one of the rooms in the rear. It was clean and comfortable.
The problem arose when at checkout time it was raining hard and I had to leave because getting to my flight in Port of Spain requiring a one hour minimum drive.
Gates were locked, no security and I had to walk quite a distance in the heavy rain outside through the parking lot to get to the lobby.
A covered path would have made a huge difference.
- Paul (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay at Tradewinds. We're glad we found this place. There were very few hotel options in San Fernando for the time of our stay and we lucked out with what turned out to be one of the best.
The staff was very attentive and all around great to interact with. The service, meals and drinks at the restaurant were all great. Overall the public spaces and rooms were clean and well kept. Shout out to Nigel who the hotel put us in contact with to arrange all our transportation to and from the airport and around the town. He was responsive and very helpful.
All around an excellent place to stay that I would receommend to anyone.
- Joseph (10/5): I'll be back - Overall the stay at Tradewinds Hotel was nice. The only problem that I had was that waster was leaking into the closets where my clothes were. I think it may have been condensation from the air conditioning that was above it. I didn't mention it to anyone at the desk however. It wasn't a major big deal. The people were nice and they treated me well. The cleaners and the restaurant people were very nice and accomodating.
- Marva (8/5): - The property has not taken into account persons with certain disabilities (wheelchair), lack of ramps to get to their room and to the restaurant. Also entering the main entrance to the lobby.
- Roger (8/5): - Property needs a little upgrade, but overall it's a great place to stay. I will definitely stay again.
- MICHAEL (10/5): - Can’t wait to go back
- vijay (10/5): Feedback - Very friendly staff, front desk always willing to assist with a smile.
The toilet seat was broken, but, everything else was great.
Will like complementary water, rather than, paid for use.
- ann marie (10/5): - What I loved about the property is the layout and location.
One big draw back about the hotel - No elevators! Can you imagine having to lug suitcases up all those flight of stairs!!?
- Katina (10/5): - Quaint hotel with accommodating staff.
- Chelle (10/5): - The property was beautiful and the staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The room was clean and provided everything we needed. We appreciate the staff at the property and enjoyed our stay during our time.
- Sherry-Ann (8/5): First time guest - Lovely hotel, very clean and staff are helpful. Breakfast was very good and freshly prepared. Happy that it wasn’t a buffet. So this ensured greater hygiene. I wasn’t aware that a holding deposit is taken per night, but this was returned at the end. Would have been nice to have complimentary water in the room along with tea and coffee. There was some in the fridge, but it wasn’t free. However we received a little box of local pastries on arrival which was nice. Will stay there again.
- Trey (8/5): - Food at the restaurant is amazing! Staff is friendly, and the neighborhood is quite pleasant.
- Tamar (10/5): - The ambiance of the hotel was great, with a lovely pool and delicious food. All at a great price.
- Carolyn (8/5): - The property was clean, staff friendly, and breakfast excellent! We got directions multiple times to get to the mall and help with gps. The check in person was very pleasant and explained everything. The hotel was on a hill and i loved the view and the trees around the hotels. Tradewinds is close to a lot of beautiful malls and eating places. I enjoyed my stay
- Wolfgang (6/5): - 1) Power was out for an entire day and room was not usable (no water, no light, no A/C), no discount was given for this major inconvenience
2) Entrance person was sitting at door, not even helping me with a lot of luggage, or opening the door when I arrived
3) Front desk personell was rather grumpy
4) Facility was nice, restaurant nice, rooms were ok, furniture outdated
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay. Secluded neighborhood area. Friendly staff and great bar for food and beers.
- Stephen (8/5): Tradewinds ✅ ✅ ✅ - Excellent room
After a dodgy check in (Late, tired, cured with a complementary beer) everything was brilliant.
Lovely room, good service, but only thing is the oil smell at breakfast stays in your clothes a bit.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good food and large room with powerful air conditioning.
- Jose (10/5): - Very good service nice tranquil environment
- Ricardo E (6/5): Good under Trinidad standard - This hotel is good on Trinidad standards. However, as in many hotels in Trinidad, you might find some items in the room broken or stained - e.g. desks, drawers, sofas, some items in the bathroom. The checking process was not the greatest. The person in the front desk did not understand that I did my reservation on hotels.com nor how it worked and we had some discussions on deposits and charges.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Although this property is in an isolated location, it is well-maintained and most of the staff are friendly. It is not close to a beach. There is a small pool that no one uses. The rooms are large and comfortable and has air conditioning. The free breakfast is nothing to write home about. Bottles and bites restaurant located at the property adds value. It seems to be the restaurant where the locals will make reservations to enjoy a birthday celebration. The food is absolutely fabulous. Make reservations if you plan to eat there. Wayne and his staff does a great job of welcoming everyone. This restaurant is only open in the evenings and closed on Mondays. I would consider staying here again.
- Jose (10/5): Great Place down south - Great Service made me feel very comfortable
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Loved the property! Staff was great! The only complaint was they were renovating the room right in front of us and there was a lot of noise in the morning. The walls are also very thin so you can hear everything.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice hotel. We enjoyed ourselves. Hope to visit again.
- Samantha (10/5): Great hotel lovely friendly staff - I have stayed here numerous times now weeks at a time on my trips to Trinidad . I cannot fault the hotel especially the lovely staff. They cannot do enough for you . Highly recommend
- Simone (10/5): Trade winds represent the warmth, genuinely folks - It was all good friendly welcoming warm individuals everywhere and they were always concerned about our comfort
