Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean pool area and room.
- sean (8/5): Value for money - It was a last minute emergency booking. It was clean, tidy and the service was good. Nothing more and nothing less. Fine as a stop over point. It’s part of the best western next door, which isn’t clear at booking.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This is Best Western managed property no mentioned made until arrival. Made reservations early called ahead before arrival but took several minutes to locate. Given rooms next to highway no noise barrier. Pool was closed, breakfast a sham.
- Nancy (6/5): It was ok - Overall it was ok. Location was close to downtown. But I did have problems with the ac and television. Ms. Belinda (I may be getting it wrong) was absolutely the best! And so friendly and accommodating. Priscilla on the other hand not so much. I had to switch rooms due to the ac not working and instead of coming up with a solution, she stated the maintenance guy was busy. I eventually switched rooms but the television wasn't working. I called to let her know and she would just say she would call me back but never did. I had to call her frequently to follow up. I eventually figured she was busy so I let her know i would be leaving at 6pm and asked if the tv would be fixed by when i returned and she assured me it would. I got in at 9pm and when i noticed it wasn't working, i called and a new girl had taken over the shift. She had known nothing about the situation and was not able to help me either.
Overall room is clean and beds are comfortable. But staff is not all attentive. That itself made me not want to return. Things happen all the time that are out of our control, but when dealing with guests, its how you handle it that truly matters.
- Mark (8/5): - For a motor-hotel it's great! Super friendly staff and well run.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice hotel very very comfort .
The staff is very friendly
- tazmachine69 (10/5): Home Away from Home - I recently stayed at this hotel because my plumbing was being repaired and we didn't have water. I had worked all day, my son was at school all day, and we had a cub scout meeting afterwards and didn't find out about no water till we got home at 9 pm. We checked in at another hotel only to find out after we had attempted to take a shower that they were having plumbing issues and had no hot water. We called and made a reservation late at night and arrived in our pajamas at this hotel. It was our first time staying at this hotel. The staff was was friendly and helpful. She offered us bottled water which was great! Our room was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable and we both sleep well and the shower water was hot! I really liked the ceiling fan in the room because that is what I have at home and I'm used to it. The breakfast was good, they offered breakfast tacos which was wonderful! The only draw back was we were in room 301 which is closest to the road and due to the noise from the traffic took a little while to get to sleep.I would definitely recommend this hotel and my 9 year old likes it better too! :)
- trucker1976 (10/5): Back again - i have been here many times now and each time i get here its a warming welcome , the rooms are still in a great shape and if you say something is broken they replace it in a blink of an eye.. they make you feel like family and treat you like you are royal.. the breakfast is outstanding.. it was great to get back here again..
- Jericho66 (10/5): Clean, comfortable and reasonable. - I am reviewing this again so I can give a shout out to Jessica. She is so kind and helpful with anything you need from the front desk. She makes you feel special.
The property is well kept. They do have a complimentary breakfast that is good.
- robin (8/5): - Everything was great except they upgraded me to a room with 2 beds instead of a king. I wanted a king. My wife and I had to sleep in separate beds. If you didn't have a king you shouldn't accept the reservation.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent stay for the price! - We needed several rooms close to an event in Shiner, TX. This property pleasantly surprised us. It was clean, well priced and convenient for our needs.
- Courtney (10/5): Amazing - It was great very clean n comfortable beds
- rrcerny (8/5): Really a great deal for the price! - Motel is an add on for the Best Western next door and where you check in and eat, Probably a pre-fab added on during the recent oil boom. But it is comfortable, roomy and quiet. Staff was great and the breakfast very good for the price level. It was also very clean with ample parking. Good food selection
Only problem it is not set up for older people. No hand rails in bath or toilet, toilets too low & bad seats, bad shower heads.
- ian (10/5): Excellent value! - After passing the hotel 3 or 4 times as there are no signs whatsoever to say that this was the 'Texas Lodge' we found the reception staff friendly and helpful, the complimentary cold beers were a definite plus!!
The room was spacious and clean, as was the bed, which was very comfortable. The air conditioning was very effective.
The only downside, which is not really the hotel's fault, was that the room had been smoked in despite being a non-smoking room. This seems to be a common problem in American hotels and motels.
Overall a very pleasant stay.
- Ray (10/5): - Great cabins, very nice. Super breakfast
- Mark (10/5): Great stay in Gonzaled - Very friendly staff at checking and out, the room was very good, clean and spacious. Also the breakfast was outstanding. Excellent value, will recommend highly!
- Jericho66 (10/5): Clean Comfortable Reasonable - It is a fairly new property next to the Best Western. In fact, you register at the Best Western. There is no sign so you have to know about the Best Western check in. The rooms are clean and quite adequate.
- sondrac140 (10/5): Amazing Stay and Excellent Customer Service - This was a gem of a find. We have spent a couple of days in South Texas visiting historical sites. Gonzales is home of the "come take it" cannon fight. Great history here. We are staying at Texas Lodge and have loved it! Neil is amazing and offers true caring customer service. The rooms are large with two king beds, coffee, microwave and fridge. Parks our car right outside your room which is a cabin like look. The rooms have ceiling fans which were a nice feel of home. The complimentary breakfast had everything you find in a high end hotel. Fresh made breakfast wraps as well. The room rate with senior discount was 59.00 a night. We liked it so much we are coming back from Goliad to stay a second night on our way home. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Texas Lodge Best Western.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This lodge is very clean. The staff were very kind and friendly. I have a very comfortable night there.
- Erin (10/5): Cute but hard to locate - Cute, private, cabin-style rooms next to the Best Western. Caution: there are no signs and there was no phone number on the reservation! You have to check in at Best Western! Great breakfast. Awesome staff.
- Pamela (10/5): Big Bang for the price - Wonderful friendly service, clean rooms, all new, location was perfect, easy access to everything
- JonathanB7 (10/5): OMG What an amazing motel! - This was a pleasant surprise to find ammenities like this for the low price. Even offered adult beverages upon check in to each guest! Breakfast was complete and included local egg and bacon burritos . Very clean outside on the grounds and even had very nice ceiling fans above the beds. Cant beat this place for the price. Ownership pride shows up in how well this place is taken care of. Even the door card is the latest technology, where you just wave it near the door to open it!
- Verified traveler (10/5): OMG, Cleanest Hotel Ive seen in many years - Property was super clean, didn't see any trash laying around anywhere. At check in they give you an adult beverage for each adult at check in, which Ive never seen at any roadside motel. Maybe yes at the Mauna Kea in Hawaii, but not at a motel in a small town. Breakfast was excellent with everything you would see at a Country Inn or Ramada plus a bonus local made burritos with local hot sauce. Cant say enuf about how pleasant this motel is and the staff was very nice and helpful.
- Edward (10/5): Never expected the quality for the low price. - Great room and the price was just as great. Check in is next door at the Best Western and so is the pool a few feet away.
- mannykat (10/5): Slightly Odd Set-Up, But We Were Pleasantly Surprised Over & Over - The Texas Lodge is a little bit hard to find for those unfamiliar with the property or Gonzales. Apparently, the property is owned by the Best Western which immediately next door. There is no sign for "The Texas Lodge" anywhere to been seen. We took a chance and went next door to the Best Western to ask about The Texas Lodge only to find out that you actually check in and out at the Best Western Office. Also, the pool and ice machine and breakfast room are all located on the Best Western property, but Texas Lodge guests have access to all.
We were very pleasantly surprised at the generously sized rooms and how nice they were! The room are actually housed in what looks like adorable duplex-type cabins, with two rooms in each "cabin." There are two handicap accessible rooms and each are housed in a "single cabin" by themselves.
The rooms have a great kitchen area with a kitchen sink, mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker and lovely black granite counter tops. Each room has a small front porch area and their own front porch light. The rooms are super quiet! I saw that the people staying in the room next to us had a baby, but we never once heard the baby, heard their tv or heard any other sounds coming from their side.
The beds and pillow were very comfortable and my husband and I both were able to sleep very well. That is saying a lot for me because I am a very light sleeper and I generally do not sleep well in an unfamiliar setting.
The complimentary breakfast was one of the best that we have ever had at a hotel! There was such a huge selection and variety of items to choose from. From fresh coffee and juices, fresh breakfast taquitos, waffles, a choice or 3 hot cereals or 3 cold cereals, microwavable breakfast sandwiches, white or wheat toast, and pastries! We were both very impressed. We have stayed at much more expensive hotels and their complimentary breakfast didn't even come close to what was offered here!
I chose these accommodations for the economical, budget-friendly price, but we were not disappointed by anything during our stay. In fact, we were pleasantly surprised at how many times we were impressed with these accommodations and the staff! We will definitely book another stay here next time we happen to be in the area again!
- mike (6/5): inexpensive - advertised as having a pool, however you have to go next door to the best western.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice little place. Comfortable room, no frills. Decent breakfast. A bit confusing as you check in next door, but no other problems. Beds were fine and parking was easy. All I needed for a work trip.
- Gale (8/5): Nice one night stay - The office was a little hard to find... As it's part of another hotel and there is not a specific sign for the lodge. But the room was quiet and the pool was nice.
- hayesclan5 (10/5): ALREADY BOOKED OUR NEXT STAY - room was great... customer service was also great. Couldn't believe the quality for the price! Breakfast was more than I expected... We are staying there any time we need to be within 50 miles of Gonzales.. Check in again on Friday!
- trucker1976 (10/5): nice clean place and i will go back again - this place is really good, i did stay there 2 nights and the price was the reason did go there..
i did not expect to much of it but when i did arrive i was surprised how clean and up to date the rooms were
the lady at the front desk had computer problems and couldn't check me in.. though she gave me a room key so i could settle and relax . about 30 min later she came to the room with the bill i needed to sign and her apologize it took so long... what else can i say... its next to the Best western and the pool is clean and nice
thank all the staff very much for you hospitality hope to be back soon
- JeanGon (10/5): Very nice inside - Walking in was very nice, everything look very clean, the restroom were pleasant and offered complimentary shampoo and body soap. Breakfast was great and had a variety of foods and drinks. Our front desk was very nice
- Quiltlady0000 (10/5): Comfortable bed, big room!! - We stayed at the Texas Lodge while visiting Gonzales, Texas for the Come and Take It celebration. The room was big, the king size bed very comfortable, and there were breakfast tacos available from a local restaurant. The price was comparable to other hotels in the area. We will definitely stay here again!
- stronghuggd (10/5): Stronghuggs - I was stranded on I10 with car trouble, located the Texas Lodge via the internet, after contacting the hotel and making a reservation, the desk clerk recommended a towing service and repair shop which both turned out to be excellent suggestions. The staff at the Texas Lodge went beyond the call of duty in terms of service and accommodations. The room was first class. I plan to come back for a leisurely stay and would and have highly recommended to my friends and others who happen to be in the area.
- Roadwarrior018 (8/5): Wow.... - When I opened the door to my room, I forgot I was in a small oilboom town in Texas. Clean, modern, hellacious wifi speed, roomy and excellent service.....my expense account loves it, and so do I.
Our company said to seek out "economic lodging"...well, I never dreamed that Economic Lodging is cleaner , more comfortable, and the staff already knows what we need in our market niche.
Totally impressed.
- 571jessicat (10/5): So Helpful! - Maribell I think was the employees name that so graciously helped me arrange for a birthday gift delivery, I was sending a gift basket to a guest and the staff was so helpful in making this happen for us! This was certainly above and beyond her job description in my mind as I was not a guest of the hotel. Thank you for helping make his birthday on the road just a little better!!!
- DLArcher (10/5): Great place to stay - Check in was easy and quick. The rooms were very spacious, plenty of counter space in bathroom area and beds very comfortable. We had a group of 8 sharing 3 rooms and everyone was extremely pleased with the set up. Decor was very nice and room had everything you could need including small refrigerator and microwave. Breakfast was excellent, especially the fresh breakfast tacos. Will definitely be back again next year...this is the best place to stay if you are running The Texas Independence Relay.
