- Lai (10/5): - Nearest location to lift
- Reuben (8/5): Perfect location, ski or board to your door, friendly and helpful staff. Really enjoyed the stay. - Perfect location - you can ski or board to the door. Excellent and friendly staff. Very clean. It would be great if there was a shared shower on each floor but you have to go downstairs. The Onsen doesn’t open until 4pm. Futons are pretty old school and could do with an update. I’d also prefer breakfast to be more buffet instead of set menu - but the food was nice.
- May (9/5): Will definitely book again for future skiing trips - Excellent location, right next to the gondola. The futon's are extra comfy and the breakfast was great. none
- Michael (9/5): - Location, staff, room Japanese breakfast was nice, but sometimes a little underwhelming. Coffee with breakfast would also be nice.
At least 1 seperate private shower. I was fine, but my mother struggled with the open Japanese style shower
- hannah (9/5): -
- Alex (8/5): Great location and services. - Location Japanese style beds, a bit uncomfortable for my age.
- Chryscelle (10/5): -
- Lucille (10/5): -
- Jun (10/5): Will definitely come back again! - Location is right next thr slope and the breakfast was great!
- Shevaughan (10/5): Great stay for all. Location is excellent if skiing at the mountain. -

- Andree (8/5): Great little place, felt traditional and super convenient to lifts - We loved Kawahiro, it is a lovely Japanese run lodging with yummy home cooked food each morning and rooms/bathroom super clean and comfortable. We would suggest an English guide for the home and surrounds for example where the washing machine is and where to catch shuttle bus around town etc. Also some hooks in the room for hanging towels or extra clothes would be fab too. Thankyou for having us!
- Zali (10/5): - Very close to Nagasaka gondola & a good walk to the town. Breakfast every morning was delicious and different, both western & japanese.
- Sheena (7/5): Great location and friendly, clean stay, so long as you appreciate shared facilities and floor based sitting. - Excellent proximity to ski area No chair in bedroom so you can’t really sit anywhere. Floor based sitting.
- Michael (9/5): Great location, big enough room. Wifi could be better - Very nice place, staff are great. Very convenient location to main gondola It really is a steep walk up to the hotel. With luggage it's hard but about 15mins.
Biggest issue is the wifi, very terrible. Just really slow most of the time.
Would prefer a choice of breakfast instead of alternate Japanese/Western
- Kostyantyn (4/5): Great location, but noisy, no evening staff, and little privacy. - The location is convenient. This property feels more like a hostel than a hotel.
Amenities are shared, and there is even a sink in the corridor. Combined with very poor sound insulation, it’s extremely hard to sleep: you hear people brushing their teeth at the corridor sink, coughing, chatting next door, and toilet visits throughout the night.
There were loud Aussie guests partying until late, and there are no staff after 5 pm, so there’s nobody to complain to in the evening. The smell from the kitchen spreads through the whole building. Breakfast is fixed at 7:30 am and isn’t very healthy (lots of processed food). The onsen is tiny and usually crowded, so it’s hard to relax or even wash properly. Privacy is also an issue: even if you lock the door, the cleaner can still open it with a key, which is very uncomfortable.
- Danielle (8/5): Amazing location by ski lifts and comfortable tatami rooms that are all you need. The people running this accommodation - Beautiful staff. Amazing location. Great breakfast. Clean rooms.
- Taavi (9/5): Perfect location at a great price - +++ Location
+ Own onsen
+ Breakfast
+ Staff - Thin walls

- Bianca (10/5): Wonderful stay, but one weekend is too short. - Location is amazing, everyone on the staff is very helpful and friendly and the food was delicious and plentiful. The in house Onsen one of the best we tried in town, spacious and with all amenities. Very clean and tidy, despite all the tourists.
- Timothy (8/5): - Fantastic location. Great breakfast. Friendly staff. We had 2 nights and were asked to move rooms for our 2nd night, which was very inconvenient. Beds were uncomfortable. Expensive for what we got, but overall ok stay.

- caroline (8/5): Great location in a traditional style - We loved the traditional rooms and the location to the Nagasaki center/Gondola. Staff allowed us to check in early.
Breakfasts were delicious. Next time I would arrange transport of luggage up to accomodation as it was an uphill hike!

- CHING HUI (10/5):
- Ruobing (9/5): Can't get a better location than this - Outstanding location right next to the main gondola - about as close as possible to being ski-in, ski-out. Clean and comfortable. Small but pleasant onsen inside.
- HAO JEN (8/5): -
- Kiyoshi (6/5): - 場所
- Rosie (9/5): Perfect - Traditional onsen experience and cozy rooms Nothing
- Aaron (5/5): Very close to gondola, if you do not mind a no frills stay. - Location very close to Nagasaka Gondola but a 15 minute walk up slope from the bus station. No transport provided by the property to haul the luggage. Ski and snowboard rental from the owner of the property is next to the property and is affordable. Breakfast is served at 7.30am but must finish by 8.30am. Not enough toilets and wash basins so guests from other level will use the common toilet and wash basin near your room.

- Jordan (10/5): Absolutely the best location of any ski accomodation in all of Nagano. - Breakfast is exceptional. Alternating between tradition Japanese and Western. The location is the singular best in all of Nozawa Onsen. Walk 20m to the Nagasaka Gondola, and ski back to the door at end of the day. Perfect! Can't find anything to fault Kawahiro. We loved everything about it.
- Peggy (10/5): -
- Ocke (8/5): - Sehr gute Lage zum Skilift. Direkt nebenan.
- Brittany (10/5): - Great traditional Royokan conveniently right next to the Ski Centre. Staff very friendly and place well kept and clean. Breakfast was delicious too, will be back again :)
- Austin (2/5): - Do not stay here it is not worth the “ski in, ski out”
Absolutely horrible place to stay there are plenty of better options right down the road
- Peter (8/5): - Very close to Gondola, kind staff, healthy breakfasts
- Richard (10/5): - very friendly staff. breakfast was great.
- Renee (10/5): Love it here! - We absolutely loved our stay at Ryokan Kawahiro. Wonderful service, amazing Japanese breakfast and futons were really comfortable. Thankyou for having us.
- Lionel (8/5): - Great location, right next to the ski resort . also walkable to center of town. Great breakfast and clean room and facilities. It was my first time in a Ryokan accomodation i thought the beds are a bit hard but i supposed thats normal for traditional setup for beds on the floor.
- Daniel (8/5): Right next to Gondola - Great ski-in ski-out location right next to the main gondola. Cozy building with onsen. About 5min walk to restaurants. Very efficient and pleasant stay. On check-out day parking only until 10am, so need to use day-trip lot.
- Alexandre (10/5): Nozawa Onsen Kawahiro - Amazing location, great japanese breakfast right in front of the slopes. Sleeping on tatami mats was more confortable than expected. The town is amazing, but with the type of crowd it feels a little bit like Aspen or Jackson Hole in the US...great views of the valley and the sea from the top of the mountain.
- Russell (10/5): - The staff working here were excellent. Drying room is large and easy to access. We didn’t really use the Onsen since we wanted to try out some of the ones around town. The hallways are chilly, but this is completely acceptable in such a large building. We had a nice view from the room and plenty of space. Good temperature control in the room. Being right in front of the gondola was awesome. Breakfast was great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We were welcomed warmly by the lovely hosts (good English speakers too which helped), even being allowed into our rooms (we just expected luggage drop) a few hours before check-in. Delicious Japanese and western breakfasts, clean and relaxing onsens. Location perfect, right next to slopes (handy in Spring when no snow in village but still a snowy outlook onto slopes), ski lifts (can buy lift tickets here) and shuttle to other ski lifts and ski school. Quick walk down to village for restaurants, shops and onsens. Uphill walk home was quick (the quicker the better to warm us up!). Rooms were traditional Japanese so only table and cushions and futons (a little thin, but there were ample doonas and cushions to pad up) on tatami mats which was a good traditional experience and we weren't hanging around in the room much (too much skiing, eating, shopping and bathing to do!). Next door to ski hire shop with discount for hotel guests. Craft beer bar and restaurants nearby. Would definitely stay here again. Hopefully return to Nozawa Onsen again very soon!
- Kel (10/5): - Location is awesome across from the main Nagasaka gondola. The rooms are very basic by western standards. The dining experience at the Ryokan is excellent. The owner and his son are very kind and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (4/5):
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Gavin (10/5): - This lodge is literally 30 metres from the main gondola up the mountain. At lunchtime (which is a bargain at about 1000 yen for a huge bowl of noodles or rice with meat) you can ski straight to the door and walk in boots on. Onsen small but nice and staff were incredibly helpful. They have English speaking staff from overseas and even some very good English speakers in the restaurant serving area. Breakfast also very good, and despite them serving a traditional Japanese dinner we didn’t feel hungry enough after breakfast and lunch. Of course the rooms are tatami mats, and sleeping on the floor, but have safe, TV and small table with cushions for resting. It’s better to stay at the mountain and walk the 5-10 minutes into town without ski gear than the other way round. Would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location ski to door - We loved our stay here. Great breakfasts, great location for skiing and not far into the middle of the village. Lovely hosts, love the onsen. We would stay here again.
