Guest Reviews
- Robert (8/5): - Good little hotel, we only stayed for the one night. All was clean and tidy, the staff we met were friendly and helpful. All in all a good place, I would use it again if a stop at that point in my journey was needed.
Well done all the staf.
- Beatrice (6/5): - Very clean room, but no fridge or drink making facilities (which we had at another hotel elsewhere in France for around the same price).
Breakfast was quite good though not a hugely wide choice: the croissants and pains of chocolat were excellent, though the little rolls were rather tough.
- Katarina (4/5): - Spartanskt och mycket lyhört och svalt.
2 min innan varm dusch.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect for an overnight stop and clean/friendly. - Our stay was perfect for an overnight during further travel. We had a friendly greeting with information of where to eat. The room was clean and comfortable and a more than adequate breakfast. We were lucky to have a parking space on site but there are not really enough spaces for the number of rooms.
- Nicole (8/5): - Simple Petit hôtel propre, bonne literie
Copieux Petit déjeuner servi à table
- PESSIDOUS (8/5): - Très bien
- John (8/5): Stopover - This was a one night stopover. Comfortable beds and good breakfast.
This was a repeat as we’ve used this hotel as stopover when travelling to South of France.
- Lilian (8/5): Prima overnachting - Prima hotel voor doorreis overnachting. Had iets schoner gekund. Ontbijt was voldoende. Aardige eigenaar. Parkeerplaats naast hotel op eigen terrein. Vlakbij centrum gelegen; lopend 15 minuten waar diverse restaurants zijn.
- Adrian (2/5): - Clean premises and courteous staff.
However, we did not get the room we booked with 3 beds but an inferior room only 2 beds and really small.
The en suite was minute and the toilet un-usable except sitting on it sideways. Quite awful.
Breakfast adequate.
- David (4/5): - Odeur persistante dans la chambre
- Laurent (8/5): - Un seul soucis.
- Teri Sharon (8/5): - We had a nice clean room. Owner helped us find a gas station with an attendant.
- Philip (10/5): - Good value for a quick stop over
Insonorisation faible.
- Femke (8/5): - De receptionist was zeer vriendelijk. Prijs kwaliteit verhouding is in orde.
- William (2/5): Awfull - From the outside the place looks ok and with tight parking . The rooms are tiny and uncomfortable , besides very cold at night as there was no heating on .
Sleepless nights staying in hotels are pointless . Was glad to get out first thing in the morning .
- Andrew (4/5): - Not to made feel that welcome, no one to check us in, noses turned up at the dog
Room ok, some damp, overall was not worth the money
- Verified traveler (8/5): Perfect for what we required - Very clean and tidy, the manager was very welcoming and efficient. Great for the one night stay on a long journey. Really enjoyed the breakfast!
- Lucy (10/5): Really helpful hotel - Room clean and bed comfortable. The shower was good and towels fluffy. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were so impressed that the hotel manager allowed us to arrive outside of normal check in time due to an unforeseen delay (we did phone ahead, expecting to find ourselves sleeping in the car, but he was so helpful). There were spaces in the free car park for us to use. We did not have the breakfast as had to make an early start, but the price looked reasonable.
- Russ (8/5): Excellent for a night stopover - Excellent stopover hotel. Clean, good Breakfast. Rooms small however spotless. Hotel is next to busy road and junction which you couldn't see from the listing, however the rooms were fully soundproofed.
- a (6/5): End route to Valencia - It was a stopover. Met my requirements well. Breakfast satisfactory.
- Denny (8/5): - What to say - a nice hotel not too far from the town centre. Why make me fill this bit in?
- Cynthia (8/5): Ok for one night - Good stopover en route...friendly
- sue (10/5): Stopover on long journey - We arrived very late, staff very friendly, spotlessly clean and a great breakfast.
- Peter (10/5): Not posh but great value for money. - Great value for the price and an easy walk into town where there are plenty restaurants
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok but could be better - Awkward location. Dark hallway but reasonable room. Quite good location
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Shower room very very tiny.
- J (8/5): Good location - Friendly helpful staff. Rooms basic but with everything you need.
- Michael (10/5): Chapeau bas - hats off to the the Red Hat. - Alençon is a sleepy little town where the side walks roll up at night, so this little hotel with free parking was greatly appreciated.
- Graham (2/5): S'house - Aussie travelers, give this one a wide berth.
- Dot (6/5): Small hotel with parking - Le Chapeau Rouge was a good hotel for our overnight stay en route from Caen to the Loire Valley. It is on the edge of Alencon and we struggled to find a place for an evening meal but finally had one of the best meals ever at small restaurant, La Cave aux Boeufs, in the pedestrian shopping area. We would highly recommend that restaurant for the very friendly Patron and Madame and the quality of the food. The hotel rooms are small but perfectly adequate for one night with en suite facilities. The staff are friendly. The best part of our stay was the breakfast in the morning! Lots of choice, excellent quality and plenty of it! Our daughter and grandson especially recommend the hot chocolate! Thank you!
- Alaina (8/5): - Ideal hotel for travelling through. Room was clean and good breakfast and some restaurants close by for evening meal.
- Steve Medlock (10/5): Small clean and well kept hotel. - Nice clean and well maintained. An easy walk to the town centre and restaurants. Nice breakfast.
- JS (10/5): Great location, friendly staff - Great location - walking distance to town. The hotel owner gave us a choice of rooms - don't usually get that! Really friendly and helpful. Watched the hotel owner being great with a disabled guest too.
- Verified traveler (4/5): This is a 2 star hotel - No air conditioning, small rooms, uncomfortable beds. Everything about this place screams 2 star hotel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): overnight stop. - Pleasant hotel, fine for an overnight stop. Quiet location. Limited parking. No real issues/concerns.
- Tracy (8/5): Great stopover hotel - Stopover en route to Dordogne. Manager was helpful and friendly. Rooms basic but clean. Continental breakfast good value at €7
- Corrissa (8/5): Comfortable hotel, perfect for stopover on journey - Stayed at Le Chapeau Rouge for one night while travelling to the Loire Valley. Hotel was very comfortable and clean. Room was basic, but had everything needed for a one night stay - desk, TV, en suite shower, wardrobe, hairdryer. The man who greeted me, who I think was also the owner, was very friendly and very efficient. Arrived tired at the end of my day's travelling and was checked in quickly with no fuss. 5 minute walk to the centre of Alencon, which is a pleasant place for a night's stopover.
- Clare (10/5): Comfortable, convenient stay in a charming city - Newly updated rooms in a convenient location with a very friendly, accommodating staff. (When the handle of our luggage needed fixing, they promptly offered us use of a complete screwdriver set.) Both the room and bathroom were spacious and comfortable. A 5 - 10 minute drive to the dining and tourist area of Alencon. We stayed for one night at the tail end of a week-long driving tour of Normandy with our college-aged daughter. We did not have breakfast. Only concern was the free parking adjacent to the hotel was tight for our cross-over SUV and spotty WiFi. Enjoyed the region, the city of Alencon and this hotel.
- Caroline (8/5): overnight stop over - Lady who showed us to room very friendly, man who served breakfast obviously not a morning person. Room was clean and nice decor. Car park was very tight.
- Verified traveler (8/5): So So - 10 mins walk from the town centre, on a fairly busy crossroads. Not a problem with the noise, as the windows were good quality. Bathroom nice. Breakfast just bread and a croissant.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Convenient stopover - Overnight stop on way to South of France. Convenient for Motorway, perfectly clean modest accommodation, very helpful staff.
