• William (9/5): Idyllic upgraded motel with resort elements. Attractive room and grounds, steps from the village. - Comfortable, upgraded, almost luxurious yet still motel convenient. Good resort amenities and nicely landscaped. Beautiful pool and hot tub. Good choices for places to relax, both inside and out. No housekeeping during the four nights we stayed. Previously, we were offered change of towels/soaps etc every third night.

• Laurel (9/5): Perfect for a weekend getaway, we will be back. - Love the layout of the properly, it seems all the rooms have patios facing the pool, also features a hot tub, the rooms are so cute MCM design. Free coffee and pastries in the lobby whim is more like a nice living/dining room The hotel pillows could be upgraded, there were a but small and lumpy.
• Roman (6/5): - Loved walking to some small cafes in a quaint area. The location was great, including short drives to Carmel by the Sea and Big Sur. Went to watch the sun set nearly every night. Trip really got off on the wrong foot. One of my dogs was too sick to board, so my wife couldn't make it. I made the mistake of not buying trip insurances -- never again. So I asked if I could cancel, and there was only 24 hours notice, and the hotel said no. I realized it was my mistake, so hard to hold that against them. So I stayed nearly a week by myself. There were a couple of bugs in the room, but nothing crazy. They don't make up the room unless you ask. Overall, for the price, it was nice.

• Tim (9/5): A nice “unexpected” stay with spacious rooms and grounds! - Light pastries. … perfect for us! The location in Carmel Valley was perfect. An easy walk to two great winery tasting rooms. Also close to a great restaurant or two. The room size was spacious, fridge was large, the dining table had two fabulous swivel chairs, perfect decor, and wonderful hospitality. The layout of the facility is spacious. The pool area and privacy screening for rooms tops some of the better properties we haves stayed at. I noticed they have a charcoal BBQ available to visitors. Bravo to this “secret location”! Not much. Maybe better pillows (a mix of soft and medium and three on beds). We always bring our own, however, but we would love to not have to bring an extra. Some of the lower trim on doors could use some sanding and repainting, but our unit and the whole property looked absolutely clean.

• cal_nina (9/5): Cozy place to stay close the charming village. - It's an older motel that has been updated into hipster cool. I really liked the beds and found them very comfortable. The room is very spacious and the village is a couple of blocks away. Very nice helpful staff and pleasantly accommodating guests. Shower head was super low for anyone 6 ft or more. The internet was pretty much unusable and there were very few guests so I can't imagine what it would be like in the high season.

The heaters smelled like something was burning so we turned it off. Picture on wall fell down while we were laying on the bed. Bathroom needs updating.

• Tracy (9/5): A lovely, peaceful place to stay! - Great service, nice ammenities and lovely spacious rooms and bathrooms. We loved the easy walk to the restaurant Cafe Rustica around the corner. We had a great night sleep and would love to stay again! Bathrooms were a little dated.

The internet works very well. A perfect place to stay away from home. Kala, the innkeeper, was extremely helpful in forwarding my medication I forgot in the room. I don't now what I would have done without her professional help.

• S2108AGjenniferm (10/5): Quiet escape - If you are looking for a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of Monterey and Carmel this is the place. This was our second stay. It's always clean and extremely quiet. We rarely see anyone else on the property. Parking is plentiful. The property is walking distance to pretty much everything in town. We will definitely be back.

• Mary (10/5): Comfortable and fabulous! - An enchanting, unique experience. The location and grounds come together to make this magical. Fresh, original decor is uplifting. Airy, with awesome views. So tastefully appointed, the room was extremely comfortable including the ultrapadded carpet. Management truly wonderful. Incredible price. The best bed I've slept in as far back as I can remember. • Verified traveler (10/5): First timers at Contenta Inn - We weren't sure what to expect as we were not familiar with the area or Inn, but from the minute we went to the lobby to ask if we could store our luggage since it was too early to check in, the front desk clerk was so welcoming, warm and so nice ! The room and entire retro vibe of the Inn is very cool, clean and modern !

• Bilal (1/5): This place lacks maintenance and is extremely overpriced. - The lobby / office area. This place lacks maintenance and feels abandoned. The room had an unpleasant smell, the carpet was dirty, some towels were stained, the patio was dusty, the pool was full of leaves. On top of that they charged us 400$ per night! Steer clear and find a proper place.

The owner/manager was very nice and helpful – they have a really nice lobby area where they provided coffee and pastries in the morning along with filtered water and anything else you might need. It was all good.

• R3646QRnancyb (10/5): Quite a Find - My husband and I were delighted with our stay at The Contenta Inn. We were impressed with the retro decor throughout the inn. We stayed in Room # 9 which was quiet and clean. The bed was very comfortable . As we were in Carmel Valley for a church service, we were happy to be so close to the Catholic Church . We joked that a gate in the back fence would be convenient as it would allow people to walk right into the church parking lot. We plan to revisit the inn again. The weather was beautiful and we would like to take advantage of the pool . The grounds are well kept and inviting.
• davidj94112 (10/5): A Great Weekend at the Contenta Inn - My family spent two nights at the Contenta Inn and had a fabulous time. We were looking for a last minute getaway over a busy holiday weekend and were lucky to find a room available at this property. It was rather pricey, but expectedly so given the timing, demand, and location (Carmel Valley is not a budget destination!). The Contenta Inn was exactly what we needed. The room was spacious and comfortable with a very nice private patio. The pool and hot tub were perfect for lounging around each afternoon. And the location was superb, within a short walk to all the wineries, restaurants and shopping in Carmel Valley Village. The property is also very dog friendly and our pup enjoyed it as much as we did. Special kudos to Ben the Innkeeper who was very hospitable and went above and beyond to insure that our stay was enjoyable. We encountered a plumbing issue our last night there and when it couldn’t be immediately resolved he gave us a second (adjacent )room to use as well. Ben also provided us with some solid recommendations of places to explore during our stay. If you are looking for a cozy, clean, comfortable & pet friendly place to day in Carmel Valley, I highly recommend the Contenta Inn.

The other things I appreciated: the decor was a cool retro motif, the pool and spa were greatly appreciated, the room was very spacious with a very nice newly fenced outdoor patio that led to the pool, and the hosts were kind and accommodating. Highly recommend!
• kauaivalentine (10/5): Just the Right Groove - What a find in the Village! Well-cared for mid-century style motel - pet friendly - complete with pool and jacuzzi and great walks any direction…. We arrived a couple of hours later than planned, after a golden hour drive over the grade and were greeted by a friendly gent and “Trooper” the house mascot. Everything we need - a great patio and chairs for sun worship and a very comfortable bed. Coffee and croissants in the morning, if desired. We were completely charmed and will definitely return.

• Karen (10/5): Great gathering spot for families and friends that want to feel like home away from home - We stayed at this hotel for our son's wedding at the Bernardaus. We had 4 of the 18 rooms. I just wish more family and friends would have stayed at this same location. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Plenty of space throughout the property for our group to gather and relax and spend time together. The Innkeeper, Ben was generous and genuinely warm, going out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed including special greetings from Trooper the property dog made it even more homey. It was a wonderful experience and we're so grateful to have had such a welcoming place to stay during such a special time. bathrooms were dated
