- Victoria (7/5): Beautiful old colonial house in the countryside - Old colonial house with well kept grounds and very friendly staff. It was quite expensive in compared to Ecuador in general
- Cristina (8/5): -
- Sharon (1/5): Do not stay here. - Nothing. DO NOT STAY HERE! DO NOT BELIEVE THE OTHER REVIEWS - sadly I did. Especially if you are a solo female or are here in their winter. I’m writing this sitting in the bus terminal for my third hour today and I have 5 more to wait.
I booked this place and I couldn’t have been more excited, I booked it quite late in the day and saw nothing re check out closing, my bus from Cuenca took a lot longer so i didn’t get to Canar until nearly 8:10 and got to the Posada at 8:30/45 expecting there would be a fire on and there would be min drinks / tea available as per reviews.
It was PITCH BLACK no light on nothing, so to say I was freaked out was an understatement, the guy came down eventually after the taxi driver beeped the horn several times. The guy showed me straight to my room no welcome to Posada nothing, I asked for tea, he reluctantly opened the kitchen - which I didn’t expect. Thanked him, but I felt SO unwelcome. I was the only one staying there - whilst I don’t expect a red carpet like just the min welcome would have been appreciated. From here on was me asking them everything, what time was breakfast he seemed confused - we said on 8 am.
I was there for bang on 8am I appreciated I didn’t want them hanging around if I was the only one, all the lights were off in the kitchen/dining building that morning so assumed they forgot about me again, the door was locked. So I knocked, then I banged on the door, then again and someone eventually came out, no good morning. I stayed here as I read it was best to be at the ruins between 9 and 10.
The breakfast wasn’t ready so I just went with it I got out at 8:45 from the dining hall. Half way through my breakfast the manager asks me if I still want to stay that night as the electricity went out - I asked when will it be back he said a few hours - at this point I was getting agitated and abruptly said, can I please just finish my breakfast. I went back to room knowing I wouldn’t make a 9am tour.
- JORGE MOREIRA (10/5): MARAVILLOSA. Totalmente recomendable
- Ana Lucia (10/5): -
- Jean Michel (8/5): - Bâtiment ancien ravissant décoré avec goût. Problème d'eau chaude.
- velez (5/5): me pase regular - La ubicación No sirven las televisiones
- Juan Sebastian (10/5): -
- Sara (8/5): Nice getaway Would return - Nicely maintained property with stunning views. Food was excellent. Rooms were very clean, beds comfortable. Lots of birdsong and fresh air. The common room, with couch and fireplace were just outright dirty. They made fire for us on request but used uncut branches and such which did not burn particularly well - although on one of our walks around the place, we saw piles of split wood.
- frankazoid (10/5): Amazing quiet comfortable place with good restaurant and great location - Room with fireplace is amazing. Breakfast is very good too, just fruit table served oddly, ask for a bowl to mix it all in. There is a nice trail around the property with llamas in the back. Very conveniently located near ruins.
Churrasco is great, tried both with chicken and beef (make sure you have an empty stomach, it's quite a portion).
- mauricio (10/5): Fantastico - Tudo incrivel De ir embora
- Michaela (8/5): -

- Mark (10/5): Highly Recommended - Beautifully restored 200 year old hotel, located just minutes from Ingapirca Ruins. Staff were lovely and the food excellent. Nothing
- Maarten (9/5): - Breakfast as well as location excellent.
- Gerardo (10/5): Un lugar magico - Todo lindisimo Nada
- Sarah (10/5): A perfect base for visiting Ingapirca ruins and abit of luxury on our trip! - From the moment we saw Posada Ingapirca we knew it was going to be an amazing stay! It was definitely worth the gentle climb up from the village. We had a very warm welcome from Jorge and settled into our beautiful room with a great view. The whole property is so well situated and the walk around it was so peaceful, with hammocks to rest in and llamas to meet! Both meals, dinner and breakfast were delicious and the service was first class. We especially enjoyed the little cocktail we had before dinner, it was a lovely touch. We did the walk around the ruins - not in the ruins - on the afternoon we arrived (the ruins are closed on Monday and Tuesday) and we were accompanied by the property’s dog called Doggie, who was so attached to us the whole way! I should also add that it is very peaceful there, so we slept really well. Sad to leave after just one night. Nothing!
- philippe (8/5): - Nice view on the Inca Site Too cold at night
- FRANCOIS (9/5): -
- Gabriel (10/5): - Place, gardens, atmosphere, spacious room, close to the ruins, chimenea in the room, furniture, beds, big bathroom. Extrem cold at night ( no heating), though chimenea in the room working but not warm enough. The only one person attending us ( we were the only two guests) extrem unkind and unfriendly from the very beginning. There were two persons attending our arrival. The very nice and friendly gentleman was only for a moment there. The other gentleman was completely unmotivated. Though we were amazed by the beautiful hacienda. The gentleman seemed very unhappy doing his job. (receiving us, at dinner, and breakfast) really pity.
- Margarita (9/5): -
- Andrea (6/5): -
- lizanne (10/5): - A magical place! The beauty, quiet, and kindness of the professional staff were amazing. The food was well prepared and presented.
- Rebecca (10/5): Fantastische locatie met geweldige service - Fantastisch mooie, authentieke locatie. Prachtige gebouwen, heel sfeervol en mooi ingericht en aangekleed. Service is geweldig, personeel super aardig.
Rien !
- Rivas (9/5): Superb - La arquitectura
- Ryan (7/5): Cold but beautiful. - Beautiful location and grounds. Breakfast is excellent. Despite log fire dining room is only place to sit and was cold as was our bedroom.
- Ryan (9/5): Superb -
- Mandi3699 (8/5): Very good - We arrived in the evening to a lovely warm fireplace room with the fire lit. The bed was a little too hard for my liking, but it had nice cosy bedding, blankets & pillows
- Martin (6/5): Pleasant - The hotel was close to the Ingapirca ruins. The dinner and breakfast was very healthy The manager was quite stressed and over achieving in control
Being one minute late for breakfast was not permitted and was scolded
- Bonney (9/5): We felt very lucky to stay here, it is a must stay if you are visiting Ingapirca! - The setting was gorgeous, very close to the Ingapirca ruins. We walked to the ruins in 10 minutes from the hotel. Loved the gardens and the historical building. We had lovely meals sitting in the beautiful dining room beside the fireplace. The staff was very kind and helpful throughout our stay. The beds are not very comfortable.
- Alice (10/5): Wonder stay i historicsl property a stone's throw fro Ingapirca ruins. - Outstanding historical property Nothing
- Petan (10/5): Go for a truly authentic Ecuador experience! - We had the most wonderful time here
It was the highlight of our trip. Angelo was an incredible host. The food was AMAZING. The experience was so authentic.
- Anna (10/5): Amazing! - Very beautiful hacienda, wonderful staff, good food. Amazing landscape. Incredible views. Close to archeological site. Room was as shown on pictures. It gets quite cold at night but there's a small heater in the room, hot water is available, and lots of warm blankets. We were very comfortable!
- Emily (10/5): Excellent stay! - Everything about our stay was excellent. The grounds were beautiful, the beds comfortable and warm, the food was delicious and staff was so kind and helpful. We wish we could've stayed another night. The room smelled a bit damp and my sinuses were slightly bothered, but it was not terribly bad.
- Gregory (10/5): Naturally and architecturally beautiful rustic stay. - Rustic - old world charm.
- Angela (9/5): Tranquil and Historic Location with walking distance of the Ingapirca Ruins - What a charming posada! You could really feel the history of the buildings and location. We were greeted and welcomed as soon as we arrived. There are current power outages as normal in most of the country currently, but even with being plunged into darkness at night, we could enjoy the shared space of a 'gathering room'. There was a lovely sitting area in front of a roaring fireplace, a pool table, small library etc. Please keep in mind that this location has been 'in the works' for 200 years. And it feels it! I believe the bathrooms have been upgraded and modernized in most rooms though. There are lovely walks and trails on the property. Breakfast was good with a variety of things offered. The onsite restaurant has a great varied menu. You can see the ruins from the property as well. The nights are cold there, we were fortunate to be given a small space heater. Our shower curtain was too short, so water from the shower spilled out into the bathroom. (room #6)
- Chuanchen (10/5): Exceptional -
- F.j.g. (10/5): Ravishing and idyllic - Ravishing and unique location, idyllic and well preserved! Great service and astonishing restaurant! Absolutely nothing
- Luis (9/5): Superb -
- Christopher (8/5): Very good - This hotel is in a beautiful old hacienda. The restaurant served an excellent breakfast and dinner. It was a bit cold when we were there but they provided a heater in the room. The shower water did not get hot.
- Joerg (8/5): For one night stay good, room a bit cold but the fireplace helped to make it a bit warmer - Good food, good location, Many hotels try to charge 15%IVA which is not applicable to short stay tourists, it’s not honest and it leads to stressful discussions
- David (8/5): Very good - lovely
- Jeff (10/5): Exceptional - Everything it was fantastic Nothing
- Peter (9/5): It is a timecasule hacienda hotel, worth a visit almost by itself, but combined with the Inca ruins it is a must do. - Great sense of yesteryear - location and architecture. A 200 year old hacienda next to an outstanding history monument.
Staff were excellent, food great, real wood fire in a communal area.
- Robin (9/5): Superb -
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pedro (6/5): Pleasant -
- Adrian (9/5): Superb - Fantastic views and lovely garden. Our room was very big and we loved the quirky decorations.
- Capers (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful gardens, delicious breakfast, lovely town :)
- Brent (10/5): One of a kind experience in a magnificent location. - Absolutely beautiful place with a very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The views from the dining area under the treehouse are magnificent and the energy here is something special. It’s a bit pricey, but worth it for a night in my opinion.
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely location. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Everything was brilliant
- Enriquez (9/5): Superb - Excellent location very clean, beautiful place very close to the ruins
- Clara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janet (8/5): Great place to stay for a unique experience, and to visit the Ingapirca ruins. - It felt like we were in a private, secluded villa or hacienda. It was incredible to see the sun temple from the grounds while walking the trails. The restaurant was excellent. Water pressure was not good. In fact, one room had no water for a while. The staff was very accommodating, brining bottles for washing faces, brushing teeth, etc.
- Oscar (8/5): The site es wonderful - The site is comfortable and silent. The landscape is amazing wonderful, even the night sky I think that the lock system of the door of the rooms is obsolet, even can dangerous in case of emergency (fire, earthquake, etc.). The time for open the door is more of 2 minutes.
- Charline (8/5): Very good -
- Davin (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic location, great food and close to the ruins.
- Jean (8/5): Very good -
- T. (8/5): Very good - The location is amazing, and very close to the ingapirca site. The hotel itself is old, but very beautiful. You can talk a short walk on the area. The staff is lovely. The rooms are noisy (you can hear your neighbour), beds are quite small (for Dutch people at least) and the food was fine (taste was fine), but too expensive for what you got ($11 for a dish). You can consider walking 8min down to the town. We thought that the hotel is a bit expensive, but it is fine for one night and to see the ingapirca.
- Robbert (7/5): Charming! - Lovely typical Ecuadorean posada! Simple but very clean. Little cold but they have a small heater and lot of blankets. Food is very good. All fresh and tasty. Would certainly recommend!
- Jérôme (10/5): Exceptional - One of the nicest hotels (and restaurants) in Ecuador. Common areas (entrance, restaurant, gardens) and rooms are very beautiful and in the style of an antique hacienda. The room was warmed which is a great plus in the higher regions of Ecuador. Moreover, a fire can be lit in some suites/rooms. nothing
- Marc-henri (10/5): Nice stay - Nice hotel near Ingapirca
- Riccardoforte (8/5): Good hotel in an old historic house. - Location, close to Ingapirca archeological site. Good service and breakfast. Good restaurant. Very cold during night, but you should expect that at 3,000 mts.
- Martha (9/5): Delightful choice to rest and refresh while touring archeological site. - Proximity to Ingapirca
Rustic decor
Gardens Cold
- Michele (9/5): Charming - The location and views of the ruins were fantastic. The grounds and the restaurant were absolutely charming, and we loved having both breakfast and lunch there. Overall, very pleased with our stay there and not having to do a round trip day trip from Cuenca to see the ruins. We arrived around 9pm, and the reception area was closed and completely dark with no one around. This after having messaged the hotel to let them know we would be arriving late and being told they would wait for us. Fortunately, someone did show up shortly, but it was a bit disconcerting for a few minutes to be waiting in an isolated, dark place. The staff were all professional, but didn’t converse with us much at all, in Spanish or English, when we asked for information or suggestions.
- Tanya (9/5): Superb - Very close to Ingapirca ruins
- Andreja (8/5): Nice stay In Ingapirca - Amazing location, great property with a lot of history. Big room with two comfortable beds, hot shower, amazing breakfast. We had for heating in the room only very little heater which was not enough to heat the room. So it was really cold in the room. We had many blankets but still really cold.
- Dawn (9/5): Superb -
- Brett (8/5): Great place to stay when visiting the Ingapirica ruins. - Large room with fireplace. Very good restaurant. Nice grounds around property buildings. Inadequate heat in room even with fireplace in room.
- Simon (9/5): Superb - Beautiful Posada very close to the ruins. Everything is decorated nicely, the staff is friendly and the rooms are big and comfortable. Although the dinner we had was tasty, it was very similar to every other traditional restaurants in the area. We expected a bit more for the price.
- Mao (8/5): Very good -
- Krzysztof (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful surroundings, mountain views. Rustic atmosphere. Beautifully furnished and decorated with local art and artifacts. Great breakfast. Fireplace in the dining hall.
- Miriam (10/5): Romantic and cosy! - Very romantic, traditional house, equipped with lots of love for details. The garden is amazing! Our room was very spacious and had a chimney, which is very cosy - especially when it‘s cold outside. Included was a very rich breakfast with fruit, eggs, pastry and juice. We felt very much at home!
- Susan (8/5): Ideal for Ingapira ruins - The food in the restaurant, the nearness to the archaeological site (which opens at 9.00 am) and the staff; thank you Angel for the hot-water bottles! We were the only people staying that night and some of the lounge areas were closed. So as it was unusually cold, we stayed in our room apart from having supper in the restaurant.
- Arne (10/5): Beautiful old Hacienda - Beautiful old Hacienda with super nice staff. We really enjoyed our stay and could have stayed many more days.
- Hall (10/5): Perfect Location to see the ruins - Location was amazing
Breakfast was typical for Ecuador and perfect
Coffee was great
Bed was comfortable
The food at the restaurant was amazing
The staff works very hard to please you Shower leaked but it was hot so it was OK
