Guest Reviews
- Joann (10/5): Tv not working. Staff promptly fixed the problem. - The location is perfect for shopping and sightseeing in this quaint Amish area. Everything was very nice and comfortable.
- Miller (1/5): -
- Yonker (9/5): -
- Hoxworth (7/5): Perfectly sufficient. - It was close to the Blue Gate Performing Arts Center and close enough to shopping and restaurants. It was nothing fancy but it was comfortable and I slept well.
- Char (10/5): Overall, very good and priced right - Rooms were clean and comfortable. Adequate amenities. Parking outside your unit door is handy for unloading luggage. Walls are a bit thin so I could hear the tv from one or two doors down.
- Deckard (8/5): -
- Helen (5/5): Visiting and shopping in Shipshewana was a great experience. - Location easy to find. A little dated.
Gentleman checking us in was difficult to understand and grumpy. I didn’t feel very welcome.
Breakfast was skimpy
- Wanita (9/5): Nasty workers - Everything was great EXCEPT for the man who checked me in and out! It was very apparent that I interrupted his day and he hates his job and dealing with people. Never spoke one word to me thru the process. If it wasn't for the fact that I was exhausted from travel I would definitely have taken my business elsewhere!
- andrew (9/5): -
- JOHN (9/5): -
- Gary (5/5): served purpose - good breakfast bed was very uncomfortable.dead fly in refrigerator.popcorn on floor behind recliner
- Jeff (5/5): - Room was cleaned well. The price couldn’t be beat. 1 Walls were extremely thin. We could easily hear the people in the next room. 2 The shower made a loud screeching noise during the entire time the water was on.
- Gary (8/5): - waffles were very good. Toasted bagel was good. Yogurt and cereal were fine. A muffin would’ve been good. Scrambled eggs were tasteless.
- FREDA (9/5): -
- Richard (9/5): Our stay was very pleasant and the location of the motel is great! I would recommend this motel to anyone. - The accessibility features were excellent and some of the best we have experienced in our travels. I’d forgotten how narrow a double bed is. However, we could have used both beds if we wanted.
- Elaine (8/5): -
- Margaret (10/5): Convenient for us - We have stayed at Der Rhue Platz several times. It is our first choice when we visit Shipshewanna. Convenient, clean and definitely meets my needs for a disability room. I call early to make sure we can have the handicapped room. Never a problem. They have our business for future trips.
- Kenneth (8/5): Would stay there again and give a good referral. - Excellent breakfast. Very clean and a good location for shopping. None
- Rickey (10/5): - The staff was very nice N/A

- Jessica (7/5): Great location lacking comfort and breakfast - Cute good location clean The pillows and the bed is hard you can feel the coils in the mattress I sleep 4 hrs and left at 8am after getting breakfast and deciding the breakfast wasn’t good I tried the biscuits and gravy
- Leidner (3/5): Will not be returning. - The bathroom was clean as well as the linens. Room was outdated in decor and furniture. Carpet was outdated and looked extremely dirty. There was no comfortable chair to sit in. There was a sheet of ice outside of our motel room door. The heat was not on and it took close to two hours to warm up the room all the way to the bathroom. The breakfast presented was in the motel lobby. Served out of crockpots with minimal extras.
- Brian (9/5): Nice, peaceful place to stay ! - Good location, friendly staff and service, nice room. N/a
- Jessica (5/5): - It was clean Small, out of date, uncomfortable bed

- Marilyn (7/5): Prey good for value…very clean - Most everything was ok Lighting in room
- Shelly (7/5): -
- Roger (5/5): - Cleanliness Noisy heating unit. Carpet wet near door and not from our footwear - my socks got wet. Motion sensor lights came on and woke me up when spouse got up in the night and one at table area kept going off while trying to read.
- Jerry (10/5): Good sleep-good fun. - Convenient location to where we having fun hobby time. It was clean. Plenty of room in our room. Comfortable and homey.
- Deborah (5/5): Our stay was okay-despite the 3 inconveniences. Will not stay there again due to the lack of refund. - The beds were comfortable. Nice to have refrigerator & microwave The showerhead needs to be replaced. Management told us the room would be ready for our arrival. However, the room thermostat was not turned on nor was the refrigerator turned on before our arrival to the room.
Our booking.com reservations was for Feb 24 to Feb 28. We decided to leave on the 27th, Management would not give us a refund for the last night that we did not stay. (Other Hotels do not charge you for nights you do not stay.)
- Dawn (10/5): -
- Joseph (1/5): Poor example of a good motel - The room was freezing and no hot water. When I checked in they were burning incense and smelled of weed in the lobby.
Would not recommend.

- Joseph (10/5): -
- Teena (5/5): Decent and clean. Probably not book again - Location Motel
- Alvaro (7/5): location location location - . Location was the selling point. Close to many shops and places to eat. Staff did not inform us the fridge was plugged in. Not a big deal.
- Carol (10/5): We would stay here again. - Breakfast was good. There were several options.
- Lynda and david (10/5): -
- Shirley (3/5): - There was not a lot of food left and no one came to check on it. Had to ask for more waffle batter. Not enough eating space for a hotel that size. Some people had to take to rooms. I did not like room setup. The bathroom should have sink tub toilet all in one space for privacy. Hated that. For the price of the rooms they could really use some updates. Would probably not stay here again
I booked a room here because we had stayed here many years ago and I thought it was so nice. Now not so much.
- Juva (8/5): -
- Janet (10/5): Good value - Love it. One mile from downtown Shipshewana. Good breakfast . Clean rooms. Good value.
- Holly (8/5): - I didn't make it in time for breakfast The small toilet. It was toddler size. Brought me back to my elementary school years.
- Angela (7/5): Clean, cozy - Cozy, clean room with everything needed. Location is wonderful for the heart of Shipshewana. Coffee available anytime after 5am, 7am is too late. Why do you have heat and refrigerator off in the room?
It took forever to warm!!!
- Danella (8/5): Good - Good Nothing
- Stanley (10/5): -
- Alan (8/5): - Meal was what I expected, room was cramped. Staff was very friendly. Room floor could use a cleaning - walking in the room without shoes my socks were very dirty. Next morning after walking in the room without, went to take a shower and you could see dirty footprints in the tub.
- Jean (4/5): - Room was clean but definitely needed updating. Breakfast was good but very small. Only three tables. Thought it was way overpriced for such an outdated facility.
- Paul and Beverly (10/5): I will return to this hotel for all my stays in Shipshewanna! - The breakfast was fantastic..eggs, pancakes, toast, sausage, yogurt, cereal, potatoes, muffins, fruit, juice and coffee...an extensive array of delicious food!
The room was very clean and comfortable.
- Mark (6/5): - Breakfast was good assorted eggs, gravy, biscuits, cereal, and so forth! Updated rooms
- Michele (10/5): -
- Sharon (8/5): -

- Eugene H (5/5): -
- Mary (8/5): The day was fine - N/a N/A
- David (7/5): All in all good value - Basic but very clean No comfortable chair in room. Husband didn’t sleep well and only had hard wooden chair to sleep on. Pillows not comfortable.
- Alfred (10/5): Very good location to all things we was hoping for - Out standing everything was excellent I’m glad we stayed there. I enjoyed our stay so nothing was bad it was all good
- Inez (6/5): The room had a musty smell. It may neef a better filtration system - The comfortable dining area I would have liked some kind of fresh fruit
- Dale (8/5): -
- Pamela (10/5): -
- Roger (10/5): -
- Gregg (8/5): Was a nice friendly town. Nice atmosphere. - Ok, liked the waffles, juice and toast The gravy was barely warm and the egg patties were cold. The refrigerator in room had mold on door due to it being turned off. Did not want to use it.
- Pamela (7/5): - The welcome experience from staff member who processed our bill for the room...no smile or friendly general welcome...other than that the accommodations were good....
- Annette (6/5): -
- Donald (8/5): -
- Pamela (5/5): - The price ended up being higher because of the holiday.

- Judy (9/5): -
- LINDA (3/5): Will not go back. - Room was clean Breakfast, litte eggs left in container. Dirty rag left on food counter, trash bad left open on the floor. Woman clearing out the food and we were still eating.
