Guest Reviews
- Martha (9/5): 100% recommend - Lovely hotel with history & culture involved, food is excellent and staff super friendly
- Alfredo (10/5): - The colonial architecture is unique.
- Angelica (10/5): -
- X1360QYnataliao (10/5): Beautiful hotel & Amazing staff!! - We celebrated my sister's 50th wedding anniversary. Jazmin, our hotel coordinator, did an AMAZING job!; entire hotel staff was attentive, friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and Hotel has antique vibe with a modern boutique vibe. The reception was BEYOND OUR EXPECTATIONS! Thank you Jazmin and entire Hotel staff for making our experience memorable. 10 out of 10. Hidden gem is the spa on the top floor. ( relaxing and divine facial) highly recommend the Lord Face detox! We'll worth every penny. ❤️
- Dante (10/5): - Everything was great except location had to take an uber every time
- Ivan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Great staff, great room and service all around
- Jorge (10/5): - Clean and good service from the personnel. Recommended.
- Vinna Mae (10/5): - love the food!
- Jaime (10/5): - Very beautiful place to relax and the restaurant has great food at reasonable prices.
- Egle (6/5): Not worth it - The breakfast is great. If you want a real coffee not americano you have to pay extra. Its December and the rooms get very cold in the evenings/night, they have no heating. When requested a heater - was told to wait as they have an event. Upon requesting for the third time in an hour was told there is none. When we told we will leve as its impossible to stay with a baby in such a cold, a heater appeared in 5min miraculously. Considering themselves 4* and not providing season adequate services is a shame.
- Viviana (9/5): Welk located, just few vlocks away from downtown, Stafford was super kind and buffet on Sunday is well recomended. - Excellent custodes service and great SPA Bed had a particular sound that can be replaced or fixed 😉
- LUIS (10/5): - Kindest warm and comfortable service of a small boutique hotel. Great food and ambiance.
- Maria (10/5): - Hotel service and restaurant were very good.
- Estelle (8/5): Very good - Excellent restaurant and breakfast Size of the room, quite small
- Shaun (8/5): I love Casona Maria, this isn’t a party place it’s a very nice hotel with good anemities that’s close to party spots jus - Quality, the staff are very professional, the location is in Analco, slightly off the party noise of centro.
The Free breakfast is top notch. I’m just sayin. Sometimes we catch a night here JUST BECAUSE breakfast, no offense to the other great details The TV situation (I’ve stayed here a lot but get back late from town so can’t complain) the TV situation is unreliable. Also when I walk around in a plain tshirt getting treated with the same respect as the Ricos that show up here. Hahaha
- Shaun (7/5): Good - The rooms are beautiful and the breakfast is amazing. TV didn’t work, the terrace was unavailable before the time we were told it wouldn’t be.
- Cecilia (10/5): Excelente - EVERYTHING!
LOVE IT! Beautiful place, food and staff! 💯💯💯💯
- Valeria (9/5): Great bed and breakfast experience! - The breakfast included was delicious!
The valet parking staff were very kind.
- Yana (9/5): A wonderful stay! - A great stay! Very close to the tourist center and the staff were very kind and accommodating. The free continental breakfast was also excellent! Keep in mind the standard double is a bit cramped for 2 people with big suitcases.
- Carlos (10/5): - The hotel is beatiful.
I need something to be solved, they contacted me proactively and they solved it.
- Francisco (10/5): Excelente - Hotel boutique El trato
- Luis (7/5): Avoid Deluxe Rooms - It’s in a charming building within walking distance to my friends’ home… bed is comfortable and the bedding linens, sheets and towels are of a good quality plus the king bed is nice and firm. Free valet parking… breakfast was okay but nothing special. The Deluxe rooms DON’T have air conditioning yet the cheaper standard rooms do! Nuts because it was boil hot and the standing fan didn’t cool the room. And, I certainly didn’t want to sleep with the windows opened in this sketchy neighborhood. I didn’t have any hot water in the shower. Plus there were other people’s hair in the bathroom! Check in was at 3 pm and because I arrived earlier I had to pay extra.
- Cristy (7/5): It was pretty nice, though the room size was disappointing - The building is so beautiful and so clean, ir smells nice all of the time. The room was way too small.
- Stepan (6/5): Pleasant - Historical type decoration of hotel and rooms Very small rooms, breakfast staff doesnt speak english at all, only Spanish. No gym and pool.
- Eddie (9/5): Superb -
- Eliseo (5/5): Great place, lousy beds. - The staff was great, the building was beautiful inside. For starters I requested a king size bed and got two full size beds instead. And they said when I got there that that was all they had available when I had already reserved a king bed. What is worse is that the beds were harder than sleeping on the floor.
- Herbert (10/5): Great location with wonderful staff - Historic property. Staff superb. Very good restaurant with exceptional wait staff Our room faced a busy street but was quiet during the night
- Francisco (8/5): Very nice hotel - The overall hotel appearance, nice restaurant, good food. Small restroom
- Adalberto (8/5): Nice stay, small hiccups. - We liked the hotel overall. It was a nice stay, perfect for our work trip. Just a couple of quick notes. There’s no AC. We stayed during the volcano activity so our allergies were bad due to the one fan blowing around all the ash. The window also faces the street and due to the ash, we couldn’t open the windows to let fresh air in. We only opened the doors to let light in.
The restaurant was good. Their conchas were amazing. We will return for those and choose to stay when it’s not so hot.
Lasty the beds were not comfortable. They are older spring mattresses and it was a bit painful to get up in the morning.
- Etienne (9/5): Great option for visiting Puebla historic downtown - Nice hotel which looks like an historic colonial building. Rather fancy with many employees ready to assist you. The free breakfast included was a nice surprise, very good and in a beautiful room. Free valet parking for our rental car. Thin walls, we could hear the tv in the other room, but it was manageable. Easy 10min walk from Puebla historic downtown.
- Claudia (10/5): - Great service all around. Good breakfast. Spa was great! Hotel is very nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Will stay here again and will recommend to friends and family.
- Emma (10/5): Book this hotel.way more then 5 stars - This is a wonderful hotel, the breakfast was out of this world. Don't look further won't regret it ,this is our second time here and won't be our last.
- Arlene (10/5): We loved Puebla. Spent 5 days here. If we come back will definitely stay at Casona Maria. - Our room was very clean, quiet, bright, and airy. We specifically asked for a room with a window, as many of the rooms don't have one, as is the case with many of the old colonial hotels. The common areas of the building are quite pretty and well-maintained.
The neighborhood was an easy and pleasant 10 to 15 minute walk to the Zocalo. Across the street from the hotel is the university, and consequently, there is little night noise to disturb one's sleep. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. The restaurant was terrific with a wonderful breakfast included in the price of the room. And it wasn't just hotel guests enjoying the restaurant, but also many people from the community. Nothing
- Shaun (10/5): An incredible place. - Everything. The staff, the rooms, and the incredible breakfast.
- Ferdi (8/5): Very good -
- Kathleen (9/5): Superb - Attractive, comfortable room, delicious generous breakfast served over several hour time period. Internet in room not always available
- Ami (8/5): Very good -
- Bob (7/5): Comfortable and pleasant environment after a hard days sightseeing in Puebla. - Nice hotel in a fabulous building. Great covered courtyard and restaurant. Easy walking into the main centre of Puebla and then comfy beds and a nice room to return to. Friendly staff and good food. Would have been nice to have a window in the bedroom, but I understand that this is the way in which these old houses were built. I think that the more expensive rooms do have windows onto the street at the front.
- Linda (10/5): Lovely boutique hotel a short walk outside of the historic center - This is a small boutique hotel with an amazing staff. The rooms open off a central indoor patio with stained glass and an open airy space. The room had a comfortable bed, great bathroom with shower, and lovely artisan touches in the decor. Breakfast was included in the price of the room, and we loved the dining room, and returned for a light dinner one night. The hotel is located about a 15 minute walk outside of the busy historical city center, which adds to the serenity. Bonus for us: La Luz Talavera is located directly behind the hotel on the adjacent street! Everything was lovely!
- Luis (10/5): - Confortable
- Lesly (10/5): - All great
- hector (8/5): - Room was small with out air conditioning. Needed more towel holders and towels were beach size towels-too large. The Hotel was really nice and smelled pleasantly nice each morning.
Tha dinning area was immaculate and the servers were great. Breakfast was delicious.Nice place to stay at.
- Alexandra (4/5): Our bad experience was a result of an unlucky coinsidence but we are unlikely to return - Nice interiors, charming, good breakfast The description of the room was incorrect (no sauna, no extra sofa), no windows, no noise isolation, which was a huge problem given that we were unlucky to stay on a day when the hotel hosted a wedding. They could have informed us (so we can bring ear plugs) or kindly offered ear plugs if calming down the guests during the “quiet hours” clearly written in the rules posted inside each room was indeed impossible
- Roberto (10/5): Exceptional -
- Louise (10/5): Classic hotel with great amenities - Beautifully restored beautiful with nice restaurant on site. A bit of a walk to historic center
- Gerrit (10/5): - Great suite it had a Jacuzzi and a sauna room. No noise everything was nicely decorated, I could have used an ac but they had a fan that made it confortable. Walking distance to downtown about 15 minutes. The free breakfast was delicious and staff was friendly and always there.
- Patricia (9/5): Comfortable and very relaxing. - Breakfast was excellent, some confusion about what was included, but everything great. Excellent pan dulce.
Room was lovely. Junior suite with jacuzzi. Very quiet and comfortable. A mini bar/refrigerator in the suite would be a bonus. Our steaks with room service the first night were not hot and pricey for no vegetables or a side.
- Amado (9/5): Superb -
- Shaun (10/5): The best hotel I’ve stayed at in Puebla, by far. - It’s beautiful, and impeccably cleaned and maintained. The food is top-notch cuisine and the staff are very professional.
- Michael (10/5): Would stay here again - Our 3rd time in Puebla and 1st time here. Highly recommend the hotel (and Puebla). Location is ideal, about a 5-minute walk to restaurants, shopping, etc., but far enough from the crowds. Buffet breakfast was included and quite good. Hotel staff was friendly and attentive. Vallet service a big plus. Bathroom was on the small side. Bed and pillows were comfortable and afforded a great night's sleep.
- Gayle (10/5): Charming small hotel with with adorable atrium, great rooms and good breakfast every morning. - Hotel was very cute, rooms were clean, bathroom was great; breakfast each morning was very good. We had a great stay. Nothing
- Neal (8/5): Good location, very helpful staff - Buffer breakfast on the weekend was excellent.
- Alejandro (10/5): Exceptional -
- Juan (7/5): It’s ok for the value and location and most of the staff was extremely kind and attentive. NEVER eat - The food at the time was delicious. Later, I got sick and spent half the night in restroom. There’s no AC in the rooms and the door and window seem a little flimsy.
- Alejandro (10/5): Exceptional - Practically everything. The place is tidy and beautiful, the central patio makes feel the space bigger than it is, opposite to the long-hallways-with-room layout. Personnel is always attentive and warm and the food from the restaurant is extremely delicious. Totally recommended for work/leisure trip. Location Location Location! Can't think of anything.
- David (10/5): - Lovely historic hotel with fabulous breakfast and attentive staff.
- Joel (10/5): - Hotel is walking distance to Puebla Centre. Located in a nice colorful neighborhood and next to a university so there’s some bars in the strip. The food is extraordinary delicious and waiters top class. Hotel is beautiful. I love staying in historic hotels rather than chain hotels. Parking is provided with complimentary Valet service. I highly recommend the hotel.
- 216dk (2/5): Casona Maria does not honor rate listed on booking.com - We booked a stay at Casona Maria through booking.com. The rate was very inexpensive. Casona Maria claimed we had invalid credit card and cancelled our booking. We confirmed we had correct info for credit card with booking.com and rebooked at Casona Maria at the same inexpensive rate. Again our booking was cancelled. We called Casona Maria directly and they claimed we had cancelled the booking and then refused to honor the rate they had posted on booking.com. It may be a very nice hotel but they are fraudulent in that they post a low rate, refuse to honor it and then try to get you to book at a much higher rate.
- maria (8/5): - Casona Maria is a beautiful hotel, super clean. Beautiful on the inside, so much so that I was scared of touching or dirtying anything in our room. When checking in, you are given a contract of possible extra chargers you may encounter if you damage any of the room's artwork or if you dirty their lines for example. I dye my hair red, I was nervous about leaving any red stains on their liners or towels. Also, there was no air conditioning in our deluxe room, it was hot at night, poor room circulation with a standing fan and windows open. breakfast was included in our reservation, the food was very tasty and included options of traditional dishes, and the service was outstanding. But the experience vanished on Sundays, since the hotel had live music in one breakfast area, and people who stayed at the hotel were sitting at a second salon and separated from that area. Only the outsiders who were eating at their restaurant could enjoy their live music. I would like to be given the option of having a seat with live music as well. I don't think we would stay again at Casona Maria.
- Victor (10/5): - Excellent staff and excellent facility!!! Totally recommend this place!!!
- Alejandro (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alejandro (10/5): Exceptional -
- Walid (10/5): Beautiful hotel, amazing rooms, the spa was so nice with wonderful views of the city! 5 stars! - Excellent hotel, was very comfortable and we had a wonderful time. Staff was excellent and very accomodating. Everything was perfect!
- oliver (10/5): - The hotel is really nice, the food at the restaurant is really good and the service amazing. It is outside downtown but I recommend staying here since is less busy.
- Jose (10/5): - The service was first class, beautiful restaurant
- Alejandro (10/5): Exceptional -
- willray49 (10/5): We enjoyed a 4 day stay - This is a beautiful near-boutique hotel within walking distance of the Zócalo. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The dining room gives excellent service and great food at reasonable prices. Puebla is a lovely city. We enjoyed a walking tour, the churches, the restaurants and our trip to Cholula.
- Sigrid (10/5): it is the forth time stayed there: great! - lugar, historia, personal y servicios
- Michael (10/5): - Staff is excellent - food/bar is excellent - rooms are great
good location a 15-minute walk to the zocalo.
- Alexandre (10/5): A Place to Stay - staff very attentive to your needs. Restaurant is EXCELLENT, with variety of food, upscale ambient, and meticulous table sets. Very nice and neat hotel.
- Francisco (10/5): - The room was well appointed, clean and fresh. The balcony allowed to admire the city while enjoying an early morning cup of great coffee. The staff was friendly, prompt, and competent. The restaurant and bar were top shelf including prompt excellent room service. The facility was reminiscing of a colonial building, casona, while offering modern conveniences. The facility convenient location allowed walking to the historical center and other interesting city areas. I would definitely recommend Casona Maria for visitors while in Puebla.
- Lockhart (10/5): Excellent, comfortable, intimate, clean and beautiful! - Beautifully, architecturally rich boutique hotel with each room having its' own character! Resturaunt food and service was excellent; and the quaint bar upstairs a bonus! The small size made it that much more cozy and intimate. There was 7 of us with 3 different rooms and we enjoyed not having to walk a half a mile to meet! Service from front desk to cleaning was superb! Was perfect not being in the center of the tourist hub, but rather 3/4 mile down the ways! Got to have delicious food in the local resturaunts, as well as in the center of Puebla. Cable! Very few channels and all Spanish speaking.
- Isabel (10/5): Exceptional -
- 536arunk (10/5): Lovely!! - A really beautiful boutique hotel. Located walking distance from the Zocalo. The hotel is clean and has a nice feel. The staff is great, especially Felix who is one to go above and beyond his duties. Book without hesitation! I realized I had this review in my draft - this was five years ago - but the memories are still fresh!
- vbwillin (6/5): Lovely hotel but poor service - The hotel is gorgeous and our suite was perfect, but I experienced poor service on 2 occasions.
Firstly, when I made my booking I asked for a dinner reservation and they confirmed that I had one. When I arrived, I was notified that our reservation was for the Terraza. I did not realize at the time that the Terraza is different from the restaurant. Instead of booking us for the restaurant they booked us for the Terraza, which is not as nice and has a smaller menu. When I asked them about it they said they thought it was what I wanted. WHATT?? That makes no sense. I was hugely disappointed.
Also, I ordered a soup for room service and was told it would be delivered to me in 15 minutes. After 30 minutes of waiting I called and was told again that it would take 15 minutes. After a full hour of waiting, I decided to go to the restaurant and just wait and pick it up. It still took another 30 minutes or so. It's soup. My goodness, there is no excuse for that.
- RAMZI (10/5): - Extremely well maintained and nicely decorated property with a relaxed atmosphere. Delicious food and attentive staff.
- Lawrence (10/5): - The property is well kept and elegant older hotel. Well upgraded and maintained. The two restaurants are great , breakfast amazing. The staff is no less than wonderful. Whatever shortcomings there maybe it is more than made up for by the fabulous staff.
- raul (10/5): - Don't look else where this is the place to stay... Highly recommend it. You can not beet the price ,service and breakfast, which is extremely delicious. All the food is freshly made. And the hotel is immaculately clean. Will definitely be back. Our server Edwardo was great w his service and deserves a raise. Our spa was great as well.... GREAT PLACE!!!!!
- Amber Leigh (10/5): - Beautiful property. Super friendly staff. Always helpful. Great breakfasts
- Abraham Ulises Arenas (10/5): - Wonderful restaurant. Will definitely suggest this property to others.
- BetsyFB (10/5): Great Place in Puebla! - Great hotel. Service is outstanding.
We needed to check in very late and they were available and ready to receive us.
Breakfast was delicious.
Rooms super clean and you feel relaxed and in home. Beautiful hotel.
Staff was always helpful, available and they gave us some advices for landmarks on the city.
- Rogelio (10/5): - We were extremely pleased with our stay. The property was constantly being cleaned. The regular room was very small but quaint. They showed us a larger room but we liked the decor in the smaller one better. The decor in the hotel is beautiful. We had breakfast there (included in price) and all I can say is wow. Anything on the extensive menu. Drinks are not included, but hey—no biggie. The restaurant is top notch! I wanted something in the historic district and it was perfect! The have a bar, spa and gym. We did visit the bar and loved it!
- Daniel (10/5): - Beautiful and historic hotel. You can tell they’ve recently updated everything. The included breakfast was wonderful. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the Zócalo.
The best part was the excellent staff. We’re so happy we chose this hotel. We’ll choose it again our next trip to Puebla.
Dormir temprano
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Simply wonderful. High quality food, accommodations and service at a low price point. We had originally booked a neighboring hotel for the last leg of our trip and ended up canceling that one to return to Casona instead. Will definitely go back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely hotel! Amazing staff, fabulous breakfast. 15 minutes away from the city centre
- Amy (10/5): Awesome hotel! - We loved the hotel, the location, and the friendliness of the staff! I’ll gladly return!
