Guest Reviews
- David (10/5): - No coffee in the morning was a disappointment. Windows didn't fully close so we listened to street noise until late.
- Cameron (10/5): - Royal Palm felt like a home away from home! The room provided met my needs, was clean & comfortable. The island serenity allowed me to relax & unwind, also the staff appeared very helpful & pleasant during my time there. Thank you all for making my stay memorable & hope to see you again soon!
- Jose R. (10/5): - staff are super friendly and helpfull at all times place nice clean just short walk to the pink beach nice big beds and air conditioner. with also a little front yard in every room
- John (10/5): - Please don't think I am crazy, but a coffee maker in the room with a few coffee pods would go a long way. I went all over town this AM and one spot I found open. There should also be at least a chair inside so you can put your shoes on.
- Lila (10/5): - Great place to stay with the best staff. Kevin was incredible - so friendly and helpful. We will be back!!!!!
- Lance (8/5): - Good value for the money. Very friendly staff
- Margaret (8/5): - The room was clean, but small. Other than that it’s perfectly fine
- Conan (10/5): - I had a great stay at the property. Staff was wecloming & nice. I will stay there when i return. I recommend the property for others to stay. One thing & the only thing i was disappointed in was the temperature of the hot water....didn't get to my liking, more warm than anything. But overall it was a great stay.
- Kent (10/5): - Nice place to stay
- Jason (8/5): - 👍
- Roderick (6/5): - It was unexpectedly nice, walkable to different restaurants, clean and friendly staff. I’d book again.
- Leandro (8/5): - The property was clean and a good value for the price. The ac was cold and the shower had great hot water and water pressure. Just need mats on the floor and in the bathroom as well as a longer curtain so the floor doesn’t get wet.
- Quentin (8/5): - Central position
- Kara (6/5): - This small pronery is clean but dated. Check-in was polite but slow, i was charged more that expected. The rooms are small and very nosiey as the walls are thin and the street is busy.
Staff is polite and location is close to the dock for the ferry
- Shawn (10/5): - I will definitely recommend and stay again at this hotel , it was very nice for the price and the staff was very friendly and helpful!
- Kim (8/5): - Was a last minute stay for one night and was clean and comfy! TU
- Jorge (2/5): - We had to stay here as there wasn't availability at our other hotel and our experience was not a good one. The hotel is extremely old and it shows. The bathtub had rust coming out beneath the faucet and on its base. There was a sofa chair that was originally beige that is almost dark grey from the visible dirt. The bed was hard and the pillows were old and flat. A cable box hung from the television set. We were also woken up by noise coming from neighboring rooms throughout the night. I would definitely not recommend staying at this property. It looks like it hasn't been touched since it opened in the 1970s. On the positive side, the air conditioning and wifi were great.
- Katie (8/5): - Kevin kindly moved us because certain rooms can’t get WiFi. Once that was sorted we had no issues at all
- Leslie (8/5): - Close to the pier. Very friendly and accommodating.
- Joseph (8/5): - Clean
- Casandra (8/5): - Good
- David (10/5): - Clean, safe and friendly staff. Wonderful stay!
- Chelle (10/5): - Friendly and helpful staff. The room was comfortable and clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel room was spacious, clean and tidy. It is in a great location for walking around and getting to the beach. Staff were friendly and helpful. It had good linen and towels. Due to the cost of accommodation on the island it was good value, please consider this when booking. I enjoyed staying here.
- Agatha (4/5): - The property is in desperate need of updates. The first room we were assigned had a visible footprint / shoeprint marks on one of the beds.
There were visible stains on the sheets on the other bed.
The blinds didn't appear to have been cleaned in some time.
The shower was in need of cleaning.
We were transferred to another room, however this shower/ tub combo was in even more need of cleaning than the first room. The blinds were also dirty in this room. The small fridge was rusty, the tiles were old.
- Jermaine (6/5): - Noise dated
- ARNETTA (10/5): - I will be back again. Everyone was nice and in perfect location.
- Justin (4/5): - Needs security and more staff
- Margherita (8/5): - Very nice staff and reception
- Pinder (4/5): - Stuff was wonderful and helpful but for staying the Bahamas at the price wasn't worth it. It was just a basic room and a hotel motel. I think it would have been better to rent a house or go to a resort
- Kevin (10/5): - The staff were super friendly and helpful and Kevin always checked in on us when passing by around the island!
- Hugo (8/5): - Didn’t like the view out the bathroom window.should have a wall up instead of fence because you can see the house on next property behind hotel.bathroom blind is the wrong size, you can see out on both sides of blind at the window which means someone can see in also
- Walker (10/5): - Great location. Clean beds, nice staff!
- Molly (8/5): - The Royal Palm was quaint, affordable and well kept. The family-run hotel has a wonderfully accommodating and nice staff, and is in a convenient location!
- Jennifer (10/5): - The front desk staff was wonderful. Helped us find whatever we needed.
- Janiqua (4/5): - Needs to be updated
- mikel (10/5): - Lovely staff and very accondating
- Michal (10/5): - Omg. I got in late an the front desk lady was extremely helpful an nice she walked with me to my room we talked an laughed on the way. I love it. The room is a 100/10 lol
- Tyreik (8/5): - Good
- Elizabeth (2/5): - I cannot give a review of the property as we never got to the island.was told ferries run to harbor island and upon arrival to nassau we learned that was not true. We had no means to get to the island and were still charged and had to pay last min pricing on 4 more days in nassau. They refused to let me rebook for a different week. Simply said tough luck we are keeping the money
- Danielle (4/5): - The door could not open properly because it kept hitting the bed. Which made it an issue for getting in & out of the room. Also, the tv never worked properly in the room. There was a lot of noise from unruly guests. I would suggest that they make that a one king bed room. Also, I would suggest adding a deadbolt to the rooms for extra security. There was also a lack of service from staff.
- Shanell (10/5): - My stay was excellent, the staff were great with a clean environment. Awesome Stay!
- Rashard (10/5): - Nothing was unique about the property really.
- andrew (10/5): - Great basic hotel. No frills. Great location, very reasonable price, super owner!!
- Naoko (8/5): - We really enjoyed!
- Dania (2/5): - They messed up are room ,3 persons had to sleep in one bed . No hot water
- curtonzia (10/5): - Everything as expected
- Marvin (10/5): - Rooms have been updated, very clean. Very cost affective for Briland!
- Lorraine (6/5): - At times there was no cold water coming out of the shower and the toilet was not flushing. Maintenance had to be called in to rectify the problem.
The housekeeping department had a bad attitude when we requested additional towels. Tellling us there were only two guests when it was actually three. The reservations were made for two adults and a child. Additionally they need to definitely upgrade the size of the towels. Seem as though some renovations have been started at the facility but needs much more upgrading.
On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 3, but I guess you only get what you pay for.
- Shameka (10/5): - I love the updated rooms which are so welcoming and very cozy...the service is excellent..check in and out is very easy and thus place is just a step away from the bank, restaurants and local bars...i will most definitely stay here again!
- Stacey (10/5): Pleasant stay - We had a quick stay at the Royal Palm and it was very pleasant!
- Jenna (10/5): - Wonderful stay and close to everything !
- Brad (10/5): - Great place to stay. Definitely not a fancy resort but perfect for those on a human budget. Staff was nice/helpful and it's in a great location, with the main building just a stones throw from Government Dock on one end of the street with an entrance to the Pink Sands Beach on the other.
- Miranda (8/5): - The staff was great! We were able to check in early and they gave us extra waters and towels.
- Christopher (6/5): - Staff incredibly friendly. Room is basic but good enough if you are looking for a value option.
Bring earplugs as you will hear every golf cart that drives by. And there is a church very close that is loud loud loud with street preaching on Sunday’s. Water in shower only got warm; wasn’t uncomfortable, just not hot.
Again, good option if you want basics covered, but that typically comes at the expense of something else.
- Shana (10/5): - Great place for a low price
- AVA (6/5): - I don’t know if it’s customary in the Bahamas to accept dilapidated grounds, and disrepair in hotel rooms, but that was my experience staying at the hotel, as well as, another in Nassau. Utterly shocked by the low level of standards at these hotels, as I constantly found that the images online to be misleading. Royal Palm Hotel is not as ‘boutique’ as it is advertised, it’s just an array of block hotel rooms on different neighboring streets.
Since everything on the island was booked for the holidays, we booked the King Deluxe room - which we found was just a hotel room in one of its blocks. No white fence, no bougainvilleas, or grass - as advertised. Instead, we had just dirt, chipped counters, a blocked sink, and rusty tub. Thankfully, we had a very thoughtful cleaning lady, but structurally it was horrible.
- Nicholas (10/5): - You get what you pay for on harbour island. Staff was very nice , will be back
- Barrett (2/5): - Do not book here. No running water for 2 days. Book a different hotel!
- Tiffany (10/5): - I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It’s clearly recently renovated with great finishes and fixtures.
- Marvin (8/5): - Good location. Very Affordable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This property is a gem on the island. The rooms are very large and had a full kitchen. The air conditioning was super cold. We were able to park our golf cart steps from our door. But the best part is that this was a fraction of a fraction of the price of the other hotels and we all had access to the same beach. The hotel has a nice set up of umbrellas and beach loungers for guests free of charge. We loved our stay and will stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was a nice quaint resort more apartment style but great for the price compared to others on the island would definitely stay again and the staff was very helpful and friendly
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very poor attention and rooms, next time we will get another hotel
- Chris (10/5): Briland hotel - Great place to stay! Near shops and restaurants and Valentines Marina.
- Robert (8/5): Good choice - Concrete block property well run walking distance to everything in Harbour Island. 4 blocks to beach.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The location is good. However, the facilities are old. The tap water is salty and has sewage smell.
- CiCi (2/5): - the property is not clean,no water at all to shower, no Wi-if
- Craig (10/5): - Good location, nice and clean, Ideal for Harbour Island visit.
- KAREN (4/5): - We were there 2 nights. The first day no hot water. The next, no water at all!!
They had to move us to another building blocks away, which was a real pain!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The water is salt
- Verified traveler (6/5): - We got what we paid for. We weren’t looking for luxury, just a place to lay our head at night. We fell in love with Harbour Island though!
- Wendy (6/5): - We stayed at the off-site part of the hotel, so you check in and are then told to go down a few streets where there is a small apartment building with the one bedroom units. Very basic, bed was good, things were clean but the bath was stained. Water worse than undrinkable and we weren't told till the next morning not to even use it to make coffee, but luckily we had worked it out ourselves. It was a good location to get around Harbour Island though. Overall, perfectly adequate but the picture makes it look a lot more luxurious than it is.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Close to pink sand beach!!!! Great location! Make sure you stay 7 days to enjoy the whole island and pink sand everyday! Night time on the beach is the best!
- Abosede (8/5): Excellent hotel staff - The wonderful staff were very pleasant. Marie, Tisha and Jojo were just excellent!!!
- Wayne (8/5): Good value for Harbor Island - The Royal Palm is not one hotel, but several buildings scattered around town; when you check in you are sent down the street! Ours was recently refreshed, very spacious and clean and the location was dead center of town steps from Valentines. The island power went out twice and they didn't have a generator and the island is quite pricy, so this is probably the best value there. You can walk to the ferry and it is $5 each and the airport taxi also $5 each.
- Jules (8/5): - A nice place, clean, and friendly staff. It’s not as glamorous as some of the other hotels, but it was an affordable and pleasant way to get to experience Harbor Island. No complaints and would stay again.
- Jill (6/5): Nice hotel for a one night stay. - Hotel was close to water taxi. It was clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly.
- MONICA (10/5): Exceptional Service - The hotel was exactly what we needed - a comfortable place to stay on Harbour Island. We loved having the fridge, microwave, sink and coffee maker available. The staff was SO helpful. We had an issue with a phone that got left in a cab and they called around for us, had the phone dropped at the office after it was located. The staff coordinated a golf cart rental for us as well! I truly cannot say enough about the exceptional service! Should I ever travel to Harbour Island again, the Royal Palm is where I will stay!
- Andrew (8/5): Royal Palms Stay - The Hotel was as expected. It is a no frills hotel close to Valentines. Our boat was docked in Valentines Marina, so we had access to their pool and facilities. The price was excellent. It was clean and didn’t disappoint. The only slight hiccup was that they forgot to clean our room one day, but that was not a big issue. I would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Tolerable - The bathtub was clogged (it was clearly clogged, with chunks of soap in the drain) and has not been cleaned prior to our arrival. It made us question what else was not cleaned. We had no regular coffee, we were only given tea and decaf. The coffee machine was not working (water was draining through it). The rooms are located a block away from the office and there is no phone in the rooms to call them, so you always have to go there with questions. Wifi and AC worked fine. I would give it 2.5 stars.
- BeachBum99 (6/5): Very nice staff, neighborhood not so unappealing - This was my first trip to The Bahamas and to this island and hotel. The hotel staff is very nice, and they refunded my money for part of my trip when I needed to go back to Nassau. Walking around the island, it appears this is one of the nicer hotels -- the other lodging options looked pretty awful.
I'm not sure what the island normally looks like, i.e. was this area damaged by 2017 hurricanes? It is a bit rough looking though seemed safe enough. There are many rundown buildings near the hotel. I feel bad for the residents (who are extremely nice and friendly) but it not an appealing vacation spot.
It was way too windy and cold to enjoy the beautiful pink sand beach or the ocean or the seaport area.
There are very good food stands with fresh seafood nearby. If you are wealthy and part of the yacht crowd, there are some upscale restaurants which I didn't visit.
These are the nicest people I've met in my trips in and around the Caribbean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel close to the beach - Nice and friendly staffs. Great location. The room is clean but the speed of the internet is quite slow.
