- GaryBHollywood1891 (10/5): Five Stars Across the Board! - The Winneshiek provides a fantastic stay: an extremely courteous, friendly, and highly-attentive staff; cozy, comfortable rooms in a gorgeous, historic building; location, location, location! The charm of being able to step out the front door and be smack in the middle of Decorah's incredibly quaint, well-preserved downtown is immense. But availing yourself of the parking lot entrance and wending your way on foot down to the river is equally satisfying. It's a beautiful hotel in the middle of one of Iowa's most beautifulI towns. Oh, and the complimentary breakfast buffet is an extra, wonderful perq! I stayed at the Winneshiek over Memorial Day Weekend with my 91-year-old father. I cannot emphasize enough the tremendous understanding and support offered by the staff and management to myself and my dad regarding his needs as a nonagenarian. Deepest heartfelt thanks to everyone there for all their help and thoughtfulness. My apologies for having taken so long to write this review! I hope to be able to return to this wonderful locale sometime sooner than later!

Room was on point. It had what I needed. Was super clean. Bed was very comfortable. Will inquire to see if they can accommodate my family next year.
- 592jima (10/5): Wonderful historic hotel in a charming town - We visited Decorah for my wife's birthday and stayed at the Hotel Winneshiek. It is a wonderful historic hotel in the heart of the old downtown. The hotel is in beautiful shape and very clean. The staff is great and we enjoyed a nightcap at the hotel bar in the evening. There is also a Continental breakfast in the morning.

- karencQ8550HX (10/5): Historic but Modern - The historic Hotel Winneshiek is a gem on Water Street in Decorah. You walk through the doors and immediately notice that everything is well cared-for. It's doesn't feel old, but instead it feels like a step back in time. The entire hotel is very clean, the staff are friendly, and the amenities are completely up-to-date. The room and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom modern and bright. The entire stay was lovely, and we'll book again when we return to Decorah!

- walletbuffer (8/5): Very nice older hotel in downtown Decorah - This was our third time staying at the Winneshiek hotel. Had an overall good experience. Booked a room with a view that turned out to be on the side of the hotel, which overlooked another wall of the building but that’s OK very quiet very comfortable very clean hotel. We would recommend going to Mabe‘s Pizza for food. We ordered a small pizza which is right next-door and it was fabulous. Adequate. Would definitely stay here again.

Walking access to shops, the Vesterheim Museum and even some local parks. And it was quiet. Even though the hotel was fully booked, we never heard any noises coming from other rooms or the lobby. We had a great time.

There is so much more interest and character in a building with history, a building which was constructed in an era when craftsmanship was prized and the materials used were beautiful wood and stone. - d98phoenix (10/5): THE place to stay in Decorah - The Hotel Winneshiek is located in the heart of downtown Decorah. It is within walking distance of all the best local restaurants and shops. The hotel is very inviting. We found it to be very clean and comfortable--amazing bed and pillows. Staff was friendly and accommodating. As tourists, it had just what we needed-- breakfast, a bar, and restaurant for evening dining were right on site. Decor was a throw back to older times and very inviting. Looked newly remodeled. We will be back.

- nancih469 (10/5): Great spot! - I have stayed at the Winneshiek Hotel many times and keep coming back. It’s a perfect location to explore the town on foot. The hotel is unique in style and history. Very clean and comfortable. It has morning breakfast items and a restaurant/bar. Across the street is a fun coffee shop too. A great place to gather with family and friends.
