Guest Reviews
- Stevi (10/5): - Sweet staff, great service, clean room, best parking, great price. Would stay again. Thanks so much!
- Lori (6/5): - The rug and floor in the room was dirty. The toilet ran all night if you didn’t lift the tank and fix it.
- John (6/5): - Tv screen was broken. But room was tidy, smells nice and beds were comfy. Not a bad little spot for price
- Joel (10/5): - The room was newer and clean. I have to say I was just a little bit disappointed there was no coffee maker in the room but I’d stay there again.
- Tammy (10/5): - Great place to stay! Clean affordable!
- Nyla (4/5): - No one was here for check in. You had to phone a number we tried twice. No answer after about 10 min they phoned and said we could pick up a door key in an open room in a drawer. Then in the room the chain lock was broken. No coffee pot not even any glasses. I do not recommend this place
- Tammy (10/5): - Very nice clean quiet stay. Friendly owners
- Randall (6/5): - not a good value for the cost
- Tammy (10/5): - Great stay
- Julie (10/5): Very comfortable. - The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. We stayed on the second floor and the room had everything we needed. Happy that there were outlets right beside the beds. Air con was easy to use. Enough towels and toiletries were provided. We would happily stay again.
- Catrina (6/5): - For the cost it was a great stay. Staff was super friendly. The bed was very firm which could be an issue for some. The soap in the bathroom was very watered down and the shower didn't get very hot. Plus the towels provided were tiny. Bathroom could have been cleaned better there were hairs everywhere. Over all it was a nice cute room.
- Kyle (8/5): - Had what we needed during a busy weekend. Nothing flashy but clean.
- Carrie (2/5): - The website clearly states that there is a free continental breakfast and Wi-Fi. Upon checking in, I was informed that there is no continental breakfast and that the Wi-Fi is not working and we had to use our own hotspot. Despite me stating how many people were checking in when booking, there were not enough towels or pillows. There was mold all over the bottom of shower curtain. I had requested a cot or rollout bed, and was informed that they did not have this upon check in & one of my children had to sleep on the floor because of this. The outside area was very unkempt. There was a bench outside our room that was broken & could not even be sat in. When we entered the room, it smelled so strongly of air freshener/cleaning products. We had to leave the door and windows open for quite a while to air it out. I am requesting that I get a refund or a partial refund as this hotel did not hold up to what their website states.
- Shawn (4/5): - Good in a pinch...... I'll leave it at that.
- Rory (6/5): - This is not the place you choose to start at. It’s the place you end up starting at when everything else is booked.
- Kathy (6/5): Not impressed. - No internet. TV did not work properly. No drinking glasses of any kind. No coffee. Bed was not bad - just a bit hard. Receptionist had music on so loud we could hardly hear. Charged us 170.00 because there was an event going on in Camrose. Worth about 50.00 a night. Office was not open at 7:00 a.m.
- Tammie (10/5): - Stay was excellent, staff was nice and room was very clean.
- Deja (10/5): - It’s old but it was clean and quiet. We felt safe and the room was mostly redone and very clean. Staff was very nice and accommodating to our random travel schedule. Would stay again for that great price!
- Wes (4/5): - No wifi that works consistently, place is dirty , they use paddle locks for doors as keys don’t work ( you could be trapped in your room during a fire ) they are too busy with their screaming kids to be helpful, owner needs to fix just about everything!! It’s bad
- Ashley (4/5): - Hair still in the shower from the last guest
My room key also opened another guests door which I thought was my room by accident as well as my own room.
- Lisa (2/5): - I booked a family room for me and my four children. When we arrived to check-in (at 4:30pm), no one was there and there was a sign with a number to call saying staff was on break until 7pm. Although I tried to call it as well as another number, no one responded until 5:30pm. They said we could meet at 6:20pm. We came back then and no one was there. We weren't able to get checked in until almost 7:00pm. The only thing the offered as compensation was a later check out time which was useless to us because we had to be somewhere at 8am. When we did get checked in, the room was not stocked for us. They did not have the extra bedding to go with the sofa bed ready for us, they actually said they might not have any since they were fully booked until I said "So I need to go buy my own?!" There was not even extra toilet paper in the room. The bathroom door was dirty. The deadbolt did not work and the other safety latch was completely broken. The only reason we stayed instead of leaving immediately was because there were no other vacancies in Camrose likely because of the dance festival my girls were participating in the next day and it was a 2.5 hour drive back to our home. I would never recommend this place!
- Mary (4/5): - No internet or tv. No room cleaning
- Rosemary (4/5): - When I confirmed in writing that we were grateful the dogs were going to stay free due to lack of advertised electronic amenities the response was “looking forward to seeing you”. When we got there only one of the 2 dogs were free. Excuse? Other guests were only getting one free. Not my problem. When we asked for extra pillows there weren’t any. When I mentioned the freezerin the fridge had something gross looking in it was told she’d have to ask husband to look. Turned out to just be mushy brown paper towel but it couldn’t be cleaned without defrosting the whole fridge and we already had meat and fruit and veg in there so wanted it on Then there were chips in the tub badly covered with mismatched paint and 3 or 4 bugs (the ones with lots of legs and antenna) also mould around the ceiling above the tub, cracked tub surround. asked for queen bed and when we got there were told there was only a double and only one bed in the room. She showed us the room said it was actually the best bed they had and told us we’d fit. The tub also had some strange things glued on it which may have been intended to hold soap or shampoo bottles in another life but were just bits of metal. There was some kind of ibright yellow tube thing on the bathroom wall with one toilet role in that it. I think there were about 12 spaces. Perhaps to try to match the bright orange walls but ther was no place to hang towels. The laminate flooring was good
- Brent (2/5): - For the price I was gouged for this stay at this property it really sucked. The first room I stayed at seemed clean but had a pet dander odor. After walking around the room in my socks for a bit they were full of pet hair & I got so stuffed up I had to switch rooms. 2nd room was cleaner & no odor, but the floor could have been swept at least. The wifi & TV did not work either. Apparently they haven't worked since December? Also no in room coffee. I should have read the reviews before booking. The city was busy & there wasn't any place else to stay aside from going to Wetaskawin. Hence the price gouge. Although the staff was friendly & helpful this wasn't a pleasant stay at all. I will avoid this place in the future. It would have been more tolerable if the wifi & or tv were working.
- Laura Charlotte (2/5): - Dirty, bad odour, un safe, shower didn’t work, tv didn’t work, no wifi, cash or etransfer only.
- Scott (4/5): Overpriced for what is provided. - No wifi as it was broken, which wouldn’t be a huge deal, but the room tv’s aren’t via cable, so to watch tv I would have needed to hotspot off my phone. My room as well as many on the upper level used a cheap padlock to lock them when you leave the room. Looked like someone had forced the door open as the jamb was recently repaired. Room was clean. No onsite coffee or pop machine.
- Robert (10/5): - Property was next to police station. It was walking distance from 2 restaurants and gas station for snacks. Parking lot had lots of room. This is my go to motel in Camrose.
- Rebecca (10/5): - Great value meets all your basic needs
- Rebecca (10/5): - Amazing staff always accommodating our needs quickly
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The stay was good, but the internet was down, therefore we could not watch tv
- Ching (8/5): - Internet unavailable.
- Cory (2/5): - I was charged full price for room and there was no working TV no internet but on the booking page they had both on there as included with room shower curtain was white with some kind of black mold on it takes 10 min for hot water to run warm there was food left in cupboard from previous guests I want my money back but Expedia is very hard to get ahold of. Someone please contact me dishes were dirty not once did they clean my room or give me new towels never going to stay there again place is a absolute dump
- Lori (6/5): - No internet TV No cable TV. Tried to hook up mobile data to the TV dudnt work. No coffee pot or kettle. No drinking glasses.
It was clean and quiet. We also were able to plugin over night. -24 that was appreciated. Thank you! We will stsy again.
- Susanne (8/5): - They had problems with their Wifi, which led to a lack of television during the stay, but accommodated the inconvenience by offering a low cost stay.
- Rebecca (10/5): - Staff very friendly but no wifi
- Rebecca (10/5): - The staff here are amazing they sure make you feel at home and I will definitely be back
- Krista (10/5): - Friendly staff
- David (10/5): - I like the bad was really good
- Stu (6/5): - The staff is very friendly and helpful, room is very clean but very limited amenities in the room and quite out of date, tv is solely on wifi, yet the wifi does not work, but for the rate, you get what you pay for
- Cheyenne (10/5): - Comforter had massive yellow stains on it....
- Wendy (2/5): - Stayed here Monday night, mold on cracks in shower and noisy. No toilet paper on roll, placed on side instead. Not worth $85
Had already booked for Thursday night too and paid in full. Went to check in at 6pm, nobody there until 8:45 but left office open. I have pictures. They left my invoice and key card on desk , so odd. Door wouldn’t open. Was frozen shut. Number in the office door was wrong. Messaged them and they refuse to give a refund after I had yo go elsewhere and pay $115. I’m glad I did.
Then I’ve heard they operate this way unless you’re the police bringing homeless people there for a good nights sleep. Awful way to conduct business.
- Wayne (6/5): - Easy check-in, clean for an older hotel. On the main road in Camrose so easy to find.
- Connor (6/5): - Stayed for a week, no room service during the stay. Stairs were not shovelled and doors were locked with a padlock from the outside. Latches did not work.
- Terrence (8/5): - If all you need is a warm bed, netflix and safe place to park, this is perfectly fine. It's a bit minimalist as there wasn't any wifi at the time of visit (though apparently they do offer wifi normally) and coffee is offered only at the front desk, but it was comfortble enough and the location is excellent overall for Camrose as there's plenty of stores and restaurants around.
- Jason (8/5): - Internet....
Not good 😐
- Robert (10/5): - Clean, cheap. NO BEDBUGS. Close to everything. Owners are nice, got out of bed to check me in when I had car trouble at 2 AM. Parking lot has spots with plug ins.
- Brian (6/5): Room with a Brrrrrrrr - Well when we got into the room it was an ice box...there was once hot water fed heat but registers dont work and the air cond/heater is not large enough on the -20c evening Saturday took till 3am to get the chill out and set it to 28c...took running the shower a while to get warm water...needed to be a bit cleaner...it was certainly not complete...however beds were comfortable...good in a pinch but not something i would recommend
- Dale (10/5): - Convenient and easy parking
- Crystal (6/5): - Room was more clean the last time I stayed there however the beds were comfortable and the flooring was perfect for dogs.
- Leanne (8/5): - Decent clean motel. Came for the dog show so it was pet friendly and a one time pet fee. 2 nice spots to potty the dogs along the sides of the motel. Police station is next door so feels nice and safe. Laminate floors. Staff were nice. Easy access to the rooms however it was full the weekend I was there so parking with pretty cramped.
- Mary (4/5): - Had to wait three hours to get new towels as they said they had to wash ours first. No tv
- Ton (10/5): - Everything close by , nice place for the $
- Robert (10/5): - It was cheap, and clean. Which can sometimes be hard to find. Staff was nice.
Had to drive around to avoid construction, but that wasn't the property's fault.
- LINDA (4/5): - It was convenient to everything.
There should be bars on the wall in the bathroom.
Not even a box of kleenex in the rooms
No container for recycling.
- Jeffery (4/5): Please be aware, not the best place to stay. - I was there to help my son and had no idea what the hell I got myself into. The staff was great. The young lady at the desk was a GEM. Aileen I think was her name, and she was very accommodating through out my stay as I was the only non drug addict in the hotel. It was just a mess as people live in this place, and no disrespect to any of them, however do not post pics that are untrue. Again, AILEEN was the best. She was decent and accommodating. Had I seen this place prior to booking (pics were so deceiving) would not have stayed. Good thing I felt safe as the police station was right next door. PD stated this place was a lot worse the few months earlier when POPO had to remove people. The good thing was it was dreadfully HOT, sitcom worked great.
- Lloyd (8/5): - Great water pressure in the shower!
- Luke (6/5): - Decent for price, convenient close to all you'd need
- Jake Raberts (6/5): - Not clean ,very dusty and washroom looking nasty . It's a family room so we expected towels won't be an issue but it was .
- Brooke (2/5): - When I stayed at this hotel a year ago when it was under different ownership and named Motel 6 I had a good experience and even gave a great review at that time. This year my experience was the opposite.
If I could now give this motel zero stars I would. Worst experience of any hospitality service. While getting ready for bed, a stranger entered our room while my roommate was undressed and I was in the shower.
She quickly dressed and went outside where she met the person trying to enter our room. That guest was extremely apologetic explaining that is the room he was just given and his key card worked. The desk clerk had assigned our room to him. She went to the office where she was meet with a silly giggle and not a single effort to apologize. All the clerk could say was that he let us check in early that day and I could just leave the motel if I did not like it. She has written an email to the motel owner and no one responds.
This motel is filthy dirty! I don't think they clean any surface in the rooms. When showering the water was not going down the drain and when it did eventually fully drain about 10 mins after I got out of the shower a LOT of hair balls had floated out of the drains that were short curly, none of which was my long and straight hair.
Also my Expedia Account says my charges should have been $119 incl taxes and I was charged $130, not a big difference but not ok to change the rate I agreed to at booking.
- Percy (2/5): - Run down, dirty, bugs, soiled sheets, no garbage container, patches on bathtub
- Randall (6/5): - Although they are trying to upgrade the facility, it is quite average.
- Mitch (10/5): - I thought this was a great stay. Updated on the inside, although it is a little dated on the outside, but I didn't care about that. Staff was great and accommodating as I booked on a platform in which I thought I had booked to beds, but only had one queen. They switched it immediately for me with no hassle.
- Patrick (2/5): - This place is awful first it was not ready at 4 pm supposedly getting cleaned when we did get in we saw that floor was dirty bath towels dirty but thought ok one night then pulled covers down on bed and there was lots of small hairs staining on sheets then pillow case had stain on it : talked to person at desk he came took the covers and came back with another dirty sheet he could not find any clean bedding did not clean room just asking for another chance but did not even know what to do finally at 11:00 pm we left went to wetaskiwin and got a clean beautiful room there
This place is a disaster unhealthy and not worth a penny let alone what we paid almost 200 dollars
Do NOT ever stay at this place you will regret it for sure
- john (4/5): - Very old place and lock on main door broken .
- Codie lee (2/5): - I booked our hotel room at 10:30 pm, and showed up to check in around 11:30 pm. My husband went into the lobby to check in. There was a couple of guests screaming at each other in the lobby, other guests loitering around the parking lot amd the whole place was dirty. We were told our room would need to be cleaned before we could check in so we had to wait. We waited in the parking lot for roughly 30 minutes before we decided to leave because we were so worried for our safety. We stayed at a different hotel but I was still charged for the 2 nights at Motel Bo. DO NOT STAY HERE.
- Leonard (4/5): - 1 of the 2 safety devices on the door was broken.
Used towels from last guest were left in the room.
Garbage was not emptied after previous guest.
Hard bed mattress.
No one in the office when i went to check out in the morning.
2 positives; the price was phenomenal, and at least they made the bed after the last guest.
- Laureen (2/5): - We drove in and didn’t even get out of the vehicle and drove away.
- Tanya (2/5): - Absolutely filthy. I had already paid through Expedia so wouldn’t get my money back. I went to store and bought cleaning supplies snd clean the room myself from top to bottom. Do NOT book here!!!
- Jennifer (4/5): - Asphalt in parking lot heaving. Cement crumbling on side walk. Floor in room fithly. No glasses in room by sink for water. Thin walls, coild hear EVERYTHING!
- Elizabeth (2/5): - Terrible bad service
- Crystal (6/5): - Pretty sure the price changed from when I booked to when I checked in because I would not have booked it had it been $199 per night for a 2 star at best hotel with no breakfast offers or daily service. I had no choice but to pay the rate as everything else was book. Staff was good and room was ok just didn't expect to pay 650 for 3 nights when other friends paid 450 for other places.
- Tammy (2/5): Disappointed - Was dirty, noisy. Room not cleaned during the stay.
- Jordan (2/5): - People live at this hotel. Loud music till 1 am, fighting at 5 am. Then the hotel manager woke me at 7am banging on the door. Saying I had a phone call. I asked for a refund on the next two nights. They would not give me my money back. Instead offered me a room with a wet soiled mattress
- Akrm (2/5): - Smell of room was awful
- Christine (6/5): - Rooms were spacious and clean. Some upgrades. Price was reasonable.
Wifi was spotty at best. Walls are thin and you can hear normal volume conversations in the next room. Smokers outside the rooms were plentiful and smoke leaked into rooms. We asked to be moved to the other side (almost all occupants were on one side of the motel, clumped together) where the smoke was not evident. No glasses or cups in the room or provided at the office, so no chance of a drink - or even a glass of water - without going out to a convenience store to get something to drink out of.
We’ll try a different place on our next stay.
- Duane (8/5): - Clean rooms is a plus
- Brooke (10/5): - Interior of rooms has recently been updated, hard flooring in rooms is a great idea to help keep it cleaner. Rooms are overall on the smaller side with double beds and a small bathroom. Beds were comfy. Exterior of motel looks like an old motel but that really has no affect on my stay experience because I care more about the cost and the interior of the rooms. I'll be booking again to stay here for the same event next year.
- Donna (8/5): - Very busy in Camrose the weekend we stayed. Clean rooms, polite staff.
- Kristin (6/5): - It’s a motel. Outside is in serious disrepair but the room wasn’t that bad. Surprised after seeing the outside. Two double beds are inconvenient instead of queens and the beds slide around on the platforms. Room was musty.
It’s really noisy with lots of people smoking and drinking right outside of rooms and right along the highway. Thank god for the a/c for white noise or the people below us would have sounded like they were in our room.
- Sherry (10/5): - Exterior could be more appealing
- Patty (6/5): - The staff were super friendly and helpful. The room was much nicer than the outside appearance of the motel. It was very convenient to unload, especially at 11pm. The beds were very clean and well kept. The floor and the heating vents seemed a bit dirty. Overall it was ok.
- Sherry (10/5): - Great affordable place in Camrose. Staff always friendly.
- Colleen (10/5): Battle River Association Dog Shiw - Nice rooms lots of space. Internet a bit weak but other than that great. It is close to pubs groceries and restaurants within walking distance
- sandy (10/5): - The motel is older but the rooms are definitely clean and updated
- Michael C (6/5): - Great location and close to shuttle for BVJ and smitty’s for breakfast. Clean rooms our only complaint was tub leaked last River with any use and you can tell they just keep bandaiding the problem and not fixing
- Dawn (8/5): - The outside of the hotel is misleading. The rooms have been renovated and are nice and clean
- Sherry (10/5): - Perfect for what I was needing
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant stay - The outside of the motel is dated, however the rooms look to have been redone recently. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The only things I would improve upon as a priority is the stairs up to the second floor are slanted and awkward to walk up/down. and the heaters in the rooms are noisy.
- Blaine (6/5): - The price is a bit High for such a basic room. I don't want to be a whiner but there should at least be coffee
- Colleen (10/5): Awesome stay - It was very clean and comfortable. Good location as well
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very good budget option - Has all the basics, and is modern and clean. No in-room coffee or tea due to Covid. Only two pillows.
- Donna (10/5): - Very clean!! Bed was not comfortable. Very hard.
- Lloyd (6/5): - Get what you pay for. Reasonable price but be prepared for noise from animals from being pet friendly. Room could have been cleaner
