- Beth (10/5): - At the end of my Costa Rica trip, I decided to leave Manuel Antonio and spend a few days in Monteverde. I booked a room here on Expedia in the morning and arrived by 2pm. Laura met me in the reception center and immediately made me feel so welcome! She greeted me with a huge smile and her English is wonderful (my Spanish is terrible!!). I felt right at home and she helped me book tours, taxis and also gave me an overview of the area. Breakfast was delicious every morning and my room was spotlessly clean with a nice hot shower and plenty of pillows and extra blankets for the bed. The place is obviously loved and well cared for. As a solo female traveler, I’d also like to add that I felt completely safe and at ease at the property and in the surrounding area. I walked all over and felt very comfortable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): A rustic hotel - This hotel is pretty rustic and basic. There is no wardrobe and no safe for valuables. There is no wifi in the room, one needs to go outside to the reception area for the internet connection. The shower was clean but it was impossible to get right water temperature - it was either too hot or extremely cold. So taking a shower was quite a challenge. The hotel is not in town and is on an unpaved road. One needs a short drive to Santa Elena where most good restaurants are located. On the positive side, the room was clean and breakfast was tasty (they have 5 breakfast options, but no breakfast buffet).

The restaurant is no more, but breakfast is good and a taxi into town very cheap and easy. Best of all, they arrange trips for you and bus comes to pick up on the doorstep.
- Karen (10/5): Perfect for us - Our family of four stayed 2 nights in early August and loved the room (a king and queen) and big windows. The made-to-order breakfast and coffee were really good. The location is near town (Santa Elena) so it does not have forest next to it, but did have a variety of birds to watch on the hotel grounds. Convenient to small mart, restaurant and the various activities. Good parking lot.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Great hotel in the Monteverdes area - The roads to get to Miramontes, going around Lake Arenal, are very rough! But, once we made it to the hotel, it was a very nice stay. Laura, at the front desk, was very helpful and took care of anything we needed. The hotel is located very close to the town of Santa Elena and the roads into town from the hotel are pretty good. It is a good location to stay if you want to visit the nearby Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. We also did a night walk tour at a place only about 200 meters away from the hotel - they picked us up at the hotel and brought us back. Our room was nice and large, and the grounds are nice. The hotel serves made to order breakfast each day. Overall a great place to stay!

Laura the hostess is a wonderfully friendly person, very helpful with recommendations for activities and restaurants. The chalet rooms are just like the photos and the porches are so pleasant for watching birds in the trees and gardens, reading, or just looking at the view. We walked the road to Santa Elena for dinner, for breakfast we ate at the hotel, basic but good food, and talked with the other guests and Laura in a mix of languages. We had a great time. Highly recommended.

- titti (10/5): Nice hotel and great staff - The hotel is very simple but clean comfortable and cosy. It has all you need in monteverde. Very close to tours and forest. You can reach the town centre easily by your own car or paying around 4 dollars to a taxi. The staff is extraordinary. They helped us in everything: from tours to transfers to our next hotel, anything we asked was never too much, they are friendly and caring. I would highly recommend hotel Miramontes . Clayton, Adriana and the rest of the staff foroom all your kindness, it made our stay really special.

I would suggest investment in TV's with multi-lingual options AND dining at facility.... I will be interested in visiting again to see the improved operations..
- Martin, Claudia (2/5): veraltet und überbewertet - von 8 besuchten hotels (alle preisklasse +- 75$) in costa rica hatte dieses unser meinung nach das schlechteste preisleistungsverhältnis. empfang: konnte kaum englisch sprechen, kommunikation fiel eher schwer. zimmer/bad: sehr! veraltet, das bett knarzte bei kleinster bewegung, bad ist sehr eng und der duschkopf sehr verkalkt sauberkeit: i.o., bettwäsche war sauber und frisch, sowie die tücher. frühstück: war vom 06:00 bis 08:00! in unseren augen war das frühstück zu früh geschlossen, buffet fiel eher mager aus. leider kann ich dieses hotel nicht weiter empfehlen und frage mich ehrlich gesagt wie die gute bewertungen entstanden sind. hatten ein normales zimmer gebucht.

Wonderful staff/people who run the place. Booked all tours through the staff and the vehicle picks and drops off.

Ils ont fait les appels et demandé les navettes pour nous. Le restaurant de l'hôtel offre une belle variété de plats, dont plusieurs typiquement costaricien, et à bon prix! Le Casado est particulièrement bon et très suffisant!

- Robert (10/5): Best value and super service! - Manfred and his father couldn't have been any better. The service was fantastic!! Super nice and they attended to our every request. This is the VERY BEST value. Not right in town but the best place to stay if you have a car. The room was comfortable, the breakfast was great (we loved the homemade bread/toast and eggs) and they gave us the biggest room they had at no additional cost. Then they allowed us to check out late to give us time for our tour. Highly recommend this hotel!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Swiss Hotel Miramontes was centrally located. - It is about 20 minutes from the cloud forest and about 8 minutes from St Elena downtown. Eateries are about 5 minutes away. The owners are kind and helpful. The place is comfortable. Breakfast is included. They have 2 cats and my kids enjoyed playing with them. St Elena is a cozy down town with lots of food and shopping options. The nearest sodas (restaurants are about 5 minutes away)

De bediening was zeer goed, alsmede het ontbijt en de hulp van de medewerkers.Het hotel ligt in een mooie omgeving maar is geen aanrader. Hotelvoorziening is zeker matig, op de aanwijzing staat hotel restaurant, echter er is geen restaurant.

The cabin rooms were great-our friends were staying next door and we enjoyed the front porch area. The breakfast was delicious. You can tell there is a lot of love in this place- well kept, very friendly and safe.
- M (8/5): Cozy.and quiet - This is a family managed place. They strive to make things comfortable. Free wifi that works! The chalet itself is above ground and you have to take a few steps to get to the room.Two units in a 'chalet'. Each unit has 1 large room w 2 beds- one king and 1 double- enough for a family of 4. The chalet has a small porch/sitting area outside.We were 2 families of 4 plus our parents and so we occupied 2 units in one and 1 unit in the other chalet. Breakfast is very basic- with coffee/juice/fruit/toast and eggs made to order- but fresh and tasty! Rooms are clean and the mattresses are firm and supportive ( after a long day of active vacationing that is a good feeling) and not soft and sagging. If you need anything ( from towels to information about local activities) just ask the owners and they will try to help. All in all we had a great stay!
- Bruce E. (10/5): First trip out of the country - I came to this locations for the cloud forests, orchids and fauna. Staff very friendly and willing to help book tours from the hotel. Gardens on site are being renovated and hummingbirds hovered outside my window each morning. Breakfast is included with the stay, but they don't serve lunch or dinner. There are plenty of restaurants in town, one a block away. Wi-fi works great and they even tuned in the Packer game for us at the bar so we could watch the exciting last second win! If you want luxury, like a mini-fridge and room tv, this is not for you, but if you like quaint and natural with good value, this is the place. Make sure you read directions in the lavatory! While here, we visited a butterfly farm, coffee plantation, orchid gardens, and nature reserve along with touring the town, including the restaurant with a 3 story tree growing though the center of it and live music. Last night was a light parade in town and fireworks.

The bed itself was one of the most comfy of our two weeks in CR, & the hotel staff were friendly & helpful. We booked a night walk through the reception which ended up being the best part of our Monteverde stay, along with taking up resturant recommendations which were spot on. We sampled all the various breakfasts all of which were great! Particularly the pancakes & pinto!
