Guest Reviews
- Farid (2/5): All good, until after departure when we were accused of smoking in the rooms. - This is a 1-2 star motel: no more and no less than expected. The beds and linen were clean and acceptable. The coffee pot was dirty. As well, we were falsely accused of smoking in the rooms.
- samson (7/5): I'll come back again - I like the location Old furniture needs replacement
- Mike (7/5): - Convenient for our travels.
- Yanick (10/5): -
- Chris (9/5): Have stayed before..will stay again...Thanks! - Excellent value for the money...feels more like a b&b. Room had lots of amenities.
- Gwen (7/5): -
- Eugene (7/5): - Загалом у номері було усе потрібне. Це чудовий варіант для тих, хто хоче бюджетно заночувати.
- Zachary (10/5): -
- Monika (7/5): Good value for the price and convenient - Location was good. Price was great and the bed was comfortable Air conditioner did not work
There was no cotact phone number to discuss issues. I found it a little unsettling that our room was open with anyone having access to it before we got there to lock it. But there wasn't any issues other than no air-conditioning.
- Pamela (5/5): -
- Brent (7/5): Clean and comfortable -
- Tim (6/5): Good value… if they change the flooring. - The room was nice and big, and it had lots of windows for good ventilation. And there was a heater in the bathroom that you turn on, and also window in the bathroom (which was good since there was no fan). The room was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. We got in about 20-25 minutes later than I said we would and the manager had left a note on the front door of the office for me, which was nice. I had said that we would get there between 7 pm- 8 PM. There was a musty smell in the room, which I think was likely from the carpet. Also, we couldn’t find the password for the Wi-Fi because the paper had fallen on the floor behind the night table. I later emailed the manager and he told me where it was. I didn’t ask, but I got the impression that “late checkouts” were not available.
- Tim (10/5): -
- Russell (6/5): Good enough for a place to sleep a couple of nights. Might look into other options next time we are. - Location was nice. I like having separate bedrooms. It’s an old motel and could definitely use an update or a deep clean. They clearly try to keep it clean, but after a point these old buildings just always feel dirty. Beds were not very comfy.
- Rolf (7/5): we overnighted and all worked out, including coffee, fridge, linen - VALUE AS i SAID: FACILITIES ARE ADEQUATE FOR SHORTSTAYS
- Ganna (7/5): -
- Alousie (7/5): Good for a basic stay. - Easy to find. Room had microwave and mini fridge (fridge needed to be turned on). Tv was good. Wifi worked well. Toiletries were nice. Bed was decent for a motel. Wished there was a tv tray or some kind of table to eat at. Didn't like that it was hot and no fan. Could open the window but it didn't shut all the way unless you went outside to push it closed fully. While bed was good the pillows were not. Room faced Hwy 1 and could get loud from traffic.
- Bill (9/5): - Large and clean room.
- John Gamblin (7/5): Southern Alberta Road Trip - We booked what we thought was a kitchenette. I don't believe that is what we got . We have stayed there several times in the past and was more than satisfied with the room. This time we brought food to prepare but it was difficult as we did not even have cutlery or dishes. A toaster would have been nice, also. If we come back to the area again, we will probably stay there again but make sure we got what we requested. All is above
- Cheryl-Lynn (2/5): Terrible. - Nothing Pretty what we liked.
- Brentt (8/5): Small town feel, at an affordable price! - The property was cleaning and though no one was in the office for us to check, a Joe note was sent to me indicating what room was open and ready for us.
The room has the typical ‘stuck in the 70s and 80s’ look or should I rather say “charm”. It was a very welcoming place.
- Normand (7/5): - Quaint 1947-built motel. Decorated with pioneer notes & pictures - like a small museum
- Dave (6/5): - Was a decent place for the $$. And close to the family function. Needs to be updated. Would be helpful if staff were available.
- matt (6/5): -
- Kari (3/5): Come on Bluebird, you can do so much better! - The location is great for the travel reason. The rooms are poorly kept. We’re not clean when we arrived. Rodent poop in pull out bed, hair on pillow cases, bugs on the floor in the bathroom.
- Charley (1/5): Absolutely atrocious!!! NOT SAFE!!!! - Location Almost everything, they had my name on a note on the office front door telling me my room was open and the keys in it!! NOT safe at all. No water, toilet backed up, not very clean at all
- Dawn (9/5): Would stay there again - Price, location, staff Couldn't find kitchen light. Beds were a little stiff
- Jaimie (1/5): Room information left for anyone to see, leaving us to feel unsafe. Tried to call, message was ignored. Lying about time - Only spent two hours there, hard to know. Customer service. Safety of guests. Broken door with no deadbolt
- Paul (10/5): Peace and quiet on the praries - Quaint and cozy. I would love to stay there again. Tremendous value. I liked everything
- Dave (5/5): - Location and price Been staying for a number of years now and things are starting to get “old”. Ie beds and pillows.
- Ram (8/5): - I like the Location, convenient for me to go to Waterton National park. This town has good food outlets nearby the Motel.
Motel rooms are bigger than the usual hotels.
Value for the money. Good for the money we pay. I understand this is what we get for what we pay.
- Katia (9/5): Peace night - Clean, organized, quiet, lady from front office really nice Na
- Braiden (4/5): Loud and cold. But very inexpensive. - You guys are extremely accommodating, you’re so well priced I can’t not stay with you guys. The rooms are great and very clean. The location is great for what we stay there for. My other experience staying here was amazing. My only complaint is the heater in the room was so unbelievably loud that none of us could sleep. We had to turn the temp in the room all the way down so it didn’t turn in very often but then we were freezing.
- Emile (5/5): VERY CUTE MOTEL - NO BREAKFAST INCLUDED ALWAYS HAVE STAYED THERE DUE TO LOCATION This is a little gem of a motel but needs to be upgraded, Under the sink needed cleaning
- Pope (5/5): It was okay - Was quiet and clean. Bed was comfy Had to request a face cloth as none were in the room.
- Joe (10/5): - Just the coziest room Ive ever been in. Cant think of one thing
- Shanon (8/5): It was a quaint vintage room, and kitchenette. - Great location
- karen (9/5): Friendly staff. - Cute and antique like. Felt like I was staying at my grammas house. A sense of comfort.
- Jeff (10/5): -
- Frederika (9/5): - This place was perfect for us seniors. The room was huge. Lovely CP model train decoration. New plumbing with bathtub. The price was the best of our whole 2 week vacation. Thank you ! An open window let a lot of flies into the unit. This is an older motel,
- T F (10/5): Very friendly, great value. - Very friendly family operating the older, antique modelled, good value motel. Room was clean and very spacious. As a heads up they close the front desk around 9pm, and not all the rooms exactly match the description on the site. (They have tried to fix it). Anyway, they happily accommodated our family, we really enjoyed our one night stay and would happily stay again next time. All good, a few small things need repair and they plan to make the upgrades.
- Wendy (9/5): - Great service and clean comfortable room!
- Dongmei (7/5): -
- DARLENE (7/5): Pleasant - Close to everything Needs some serious updating. Couldn’t use the freezer in the refrigerator because the door was off and it was full of ice. Beds were very hard to sleep on and some of the pillows were so lumpy. They should’ve been thrown away a long time ago.
- Hiway101 (10/5): - They always spoil us when our dj company stays there 😀
- Joanne (6/5): -
- Burghardt (8/5): We spent one night on a trip and we're pleased. - This older property is a very clean hidden gem!
- Sarah (6/5): -
- jbaustex (10/5): -
- Elizabeth (8/5): We always enjoy Bluebird Motel. We love the historical comfortable cabin-style room with kitchenette - Nice kitchenette so we could save money and make our own breakfast. Outside of cabin-room is in need of renovations.
- Raphaël (7/5): - Ambiance 'très' américaine avec un parti-pris motel dans son jus des années 1960. La ville, quelconque
- Audra (10/5): -
- Tsz Chan (10/5): -
- Charles (5/5): -
- Scheepers (6/5): - The Manager is an absolute gem! Helpful and extremely friendly. A pointer is to perhaps update the A/C system and consider extra fans if newer A/C system is not viable.
The garden/grass between the rooms should also be kept a bit more tidy - it is quite overgrown and kind of makes it a breeding ground for rats and/or snakes .
- Venkat Srichandan (8/5): It was cozy and comfortable though little dark when we came in the night -
- Vesna (5/5): Won't stay again. - Location Staff.
I asked for an extra sheet for bed. My kids tend to pull on one sheet and it's a fight always.
Whenever we go to motel, hotel I never had an issue and always got an extra sheet.
I was refused. I was told " We cant just give sheet away".
It's not like I was going to take it with me..
Very disappointed. Other than that, stay was good.
- Kristina (9/5): -
- Diane (7/5): We were very happy with the attentive staff and comfortable beds. - Comfortable and well located. Attention to improve noisy air conditioning system. Attention to supply 2 sets of cutlery and saucers or bowls in room.
- Donna (7/5): -
- Lynn (3/5): - Place needs serious cleaning and up grading, or tear it down.
- Ruth (1/5): - Office was closed and my name was taped to the inside door (plus another guests name) to tell me to go to the room and everything would be there for me (key, "sign-in" sheet). This is a "confidentiality issue" for me! I have never stayed in a hotel that didn't supply facecloths!!!!! Over the years, we've stayed in the theme rooms (5? times) and enjoyed the rooms and the stay. The screen was ripped on the door, weeds everywhere, no facecloth, no person to welcome us (office closed); big change from our previous visits! When we were deciding on our holiday, we decided it was time to return to the Bluebird again. This is the first time we booked on-line (again, no human contact), so I couldn't even choose a different theme room (if there are still some). The sign out front has letters missing. Sometime during the night a woman was shouting. Disappointed with our stay but do have memories of previous stays that were enjoyable! Sorry but we won't be back.
- Claudia (8/5): -
- Mcnutt (9/5): It was very clean wmeniviroment - Excellent location room was ver clean Nothing really
- Brian (8/5): -
- Dave (6/5): -
- Chris (8/5): Good value for the price - Nice homey decor...felt more like a permanent residence...well stocked with essentials
- Bruce (6/5): It was accommodating; the staff were GREAT! Amenities were sufficient but exterior appearance need - The grounds need a lot of work! Unkempt! They lost the luster of what it once was. First impressions mean a lot.p
- AMANDA (3/5): I was a bit disappointed, we were recommended by many to stay here. - The staff was lovely and location to where we needed to be in Claresholm was good. The bathroom was dirty, bugs crawling between the carpet on to the bathroom tiles, hair all over the floor and in the tub.
- Jaime (3/5): Cheap and clean but super run down. - We didn’t eat, wasn’t aware it was available…if it was. Location is handy but very loud and doesn’t feel super safe. Hotel is extremely rundown (eg. broken window in door, couch in room was stained and ripped, carpet threadbare. Everything super dated, which would be ok if it was in mint condition, but that wasn’t the case. The heat is provided by space heaters and the bathroom tub faucet was broken so tricky to get hot water…but doable. It was clean and the beds were warm and comfortable. That was the only saving grace really, not super expensive but more than I would pay in the future unless there are at least some small updates made.

- RunMountain (7/5): -
- Claire (8/5): -
- Kathy (5/5): - Room was clean. Loved all the antique furniture and fixtures. Pillows were like stone. Heater was either baking the room or freezing.
- Nicole (8/5): - Room was very clean and comfortable Pillows were a little flat
- D (10/5): - Nice Motel, very clean and homely. Great to spend my time there. Good price. No comment.
- Glory (10/5): Comfortable and cozy - Loved the vintage decor! Staff accommodated my special requests. N/A
- Jack (4/5): Stay was good but a concern about forced entry possibilities. Placed a large chair against the door before going to bed. - Clean, quiet, reasonable price, ready for us, paid before checkin, good heat controls. Dead bolt lock disfunctional, outside door cracked, dead bug on night table(about an inch long)
- Janell (5/5): Different - Location , staff were friendly , price Cat hair through rooms and bed linen. Dirty furniture
- LaderouteCsizmadi (7/5): -
- Monique (7/5): Perfect fit for our family. - We loved the history of the Motel that we found in the binder.
- Perry (7/5): - It needs some work. Furnace didn’t work. Had to use electric heaters. Front step needs repair.
- Steven (8/5): -
- Bill (5/5): -
- Latifa (9/5): - Great location. Friendly staff. Very clean and quiet.
- conroy (3/5): Hotel needs major repairs - They are trying to keep up with a very old building but it needs major repairs Room wasn’t very clean
The door lock doesn’t work
Beds were very hard.
Furnace in room didn’t work they had a cheap space heater that ran constantly

- Laura (9/5): - Very comfy and cosy room, the location was very convenient for my trip (there's also a gas station and supermarket at walking distance which was great). The bed was nice, I slept very well! Bathroom was clean. Plenty of space to park your car. Neighbourhood felt very safe. Overall, GREAT value for money!!
- Kidd (9/5): -
- larry (7/5): -
- Christina (8/5): - It's very charming Needed more pillows
- robert (2/5): Likely the worst place I have ever stayed. Falling into total disrepair - Nothing Bugs, inoperative lights. Sinks with no drain plug, untended grounds. Office sporadically open. Full time long term renters- not operating like a motel
