Guest Reviews
- Vinchel (9/5): - Clean room The aircon is a bit noisy in the room 310
- nancyrD4638UM (2/5): Horrible Hotel Experience - We have stayed at the Quirk before and loved it. Clearly, there has been a management change as it is a completely different hotel. Our room was spartan, not very clean, with broken door handles and worst of all, NO HOT WATER. Zilch. After a long day of working and driving, all you want is a clean room, hot shower and a comfy bed. Absolutely none of those were present. Sheets felt like sandpaper. Sad that this once lovely hotel has fallen so far so fast.
- Shamiya (10/5): -
- christinemwinder (4/5): Beautiful hotel - but that's where it starts and ends - We stayed at Quirk Hotel for our wedding weekend (we also got married in the hotel), and our stay was truly terrible. Quirk is obviously beautiful, which is why we wanted to get married there, but the appeal stops there. We didn't have hot water in any of the rooms that we or our wedding guests were staying in throughout the hotel for the entirety of a 3-day stay even after letting the front desk know. The TV in the bridal suite didn't work (cracked screen so no picture only sound), and after we let the front desk know, we waited over an hour for someone to come replace it but no one ever came. Quirk clearly values aesthetics more than the actual guest experience.
- Lesslie (8/5): - Location and quirkiness. Good art program and buzzy bar. Value
- woodyi2026 (4/5): Most Overrated Hotel Experience I’ve Ever Had - Too expensive. Indifferent service. Uncomfortable beds. Failure to adhere yo their own published policies. Very overrated. “Art” is a bunch of twee pastel cutesiness
- Kathleen. (8/5): -
- Hilde (9/5): - Fantastische inrichting.
Comfortabele kamers. De prijs.
- gerlind (10/5): Das schönste Hotel - alles in bezaubernden Farben - Wunderschönes Hotel Tolles Ambiente
- Claudia (9/5): -
- Maria Eugenia (7/5): Fun and well located hotel! - Love the location! Need a little of cleaning the floors
- Spridle99 (2/5): No AC - no accountability - no customer care at the Quirk - My husband booked me 2 nights to rest and recharge after a very long and stressful month. I was quite happy to be coming back having celebrated my daughter's birthdays with you in the past and staying there with my husband before. I had a very positive feeling coming in. The young man that checked me in gave me the American Express voucher that was a nice exciter as I checked in, I valeted my car and headed up. I found 2 box fans in my room, and a very hot room. Presentation and feel were terrible.
I went back down, and asked if he maybe gave me the wrong room, he said they were trying to get an electrician to fix and that they might be able to. I asked what they were going to di if they couldn't fix it as for $435/night, I expect basics of comfort, dark and quiet to rest and recharge. He said they weren't sure if the electrician was coming or not and there were no more rooms. I asked for a manager. He had been sitting and watching from the table next to the desk the whole time. He told me it would "kick on and off" but he couldn't fix it. He also said he was about to take it offline, but we booked it before he could. I asked why he let me check in without disclosing it and let me valet my car. He offered no empathy, no explanation. Truly the worst customer expereince I ahve had in so many years. I broke into tears. I was so tired and no kindness with that kind of surprise was not nice. I asked for a full refund and for my car back. I called Am Ex who called him and processed the cancellation. He wrote me an email saying he called them which simply was not true. So very disappointed that this institution that I had such lovely memories at has been so diminished due to lack of care.
They allowed me to lug my suitcase upstairs find this dissapointing site and come back down, have to go back up and get my things and make 2 follow ups for the valet and room cancellations. Sad state of affairs at the Quirk.
- Robert (8/5): Overall very happy with my stay. rooms we're great. great lobby to work in. - Loved the hotel - food was ok. But I'll definitely be coming back. Food was okay. pillows we're bad
- kgkenn (2/5): Awful, terrible. - No hot water. When we called, the front desk says that the hot water is out on the entire floor and they knew that before they checked us in, they’ve been getting many complaints, and engineers won’t be able to look at the problem until tomorrow. Weird a hotel of this size wouldn’t have an engineer on staff. why would you allow guests to stay? Bathroom is visibly dirty with literal hair. Loud noise coming from vent in bedroom that is not controllable. Decor is cheap and dated - giving ikea from 5-8 years ago. Floor is cheap laminate and we have a view of an interior building. Rate was over $500 a nt.
- Traveler170109 (2/5): Nobody cares anymore - Used to love staying here. While the lobby is still gorgeous and the food is pretty good, it's more like a Comfort Suites than a cool boutique hotel. The service was abysmal, and the condition of the rooms and other facilities has deteriorated.
- L2473TXericg (10/5): Quirk was Fun! - I attended Quirk for a business meeting and found they had a great atmosphere with large nicely appointed rooms and meeting rooms. The rooftop bar was a great place to meet with our team in the evenings.
- O9549WBleslied (10/5): Fun Mother Daughter Trip - I found this hotel through TikTok and thought it would be fun for my teenager. Walking into the hotel, she did that teenaged girl gasp thing where you think something’s wrong but they are just excited. She loved the look and energy of the entire place. We were close to food places and a large thrift/vintage store (walkable). The staff was friendly and greeted us warmly. We dined in the hotel restaurant, pricey so prepare to go offsite if you want more economical prices. I would recommend and I would definitely stay again.
- nabdel2022 (6/5): Bare bones - Spare but clean hotel room, looked like it was decorated by a child and felt like it was run by kids who decided to open a hotel. Room was clean and relatively inexpensive. Arty Neighborhood, not many good food options nearby. Very noisy due to lively neighborhood and rooms were noisy too. lobby restaurant was not great and roof bar made hotel a destination which is nice.
- johannaw929 (10/5): Cozy in Pink - Chic and unique hotel. Very Richmond. Good old southern hospitality from the moment we walked into the pink and white and softly lit lobby. The lady at the front desk was gracious and made us feel like this was home -away-from-home. The room was spacious and comfortable with fun pink decorative elements. Great rooftop terrace with citiscape all around. Stylish cafe with pleasant staff who served up a good old fashion. We had such a cozy overnight at the Quirk!
- madfarley (10/5): Bright, fun and memorable - The colors hit you as soon as you walk into the Quirk. It’s mood changing! Then you notice the bright, fun decor and equally fun and bright guests. Finally the pleasant staff greets you and checks you in. Honestly, I just wanted to stay there in the lobby.
The room was exceptional, as was dinner in the Lobby Bar. Even the valet service was flawless. Finally, at night I took a short, pleasant walk around the artsy neighborhood. I’m going to find reasons to come back to Richmond just so I can stay at the Quirk again!
- Katherine (10/5): Gepflegtes Hotel mit individuellem geschmackvollem Design - Individuelle Einrichtung, gepflegt, nettes Personal, tolle Dachterrasse Nichts
- Jessica (8/5): -
- 549rekhac (6/5): Quirky but for price needs details looked at. - Not sure what to say. Hotel itself was beautiful and the “quirky” decor is very pretty! People are super nice. There are some small details that don’t fit the basically 750 a night price. The paint outside the penthouse is unfinished. The rooftop is cluttered with random tables and stuff. Just details that a hotel at that level shouldn’t miss! Would stay there again.
- Nina (6/5): - The hotel itself is in a nice building and rooms are spacious and nice. I liked the bright colors and the minimal decor. The rooms were so cold; same for the restaurant, where breakfast was served in the morning. We wore our jackets. I really disliked that breakfast was not included and if you wanted it, it was kind of self-service, with very limited (and largely unhealthy options). Also the coffee was very bad.
- Danielle (6/5): Overall, it was a great vibe - but overpriced for the state of the rooms. - I loved the staff at the reception area from 4pm to overnight. They were so kind and helpful. The café option is great. The decor is incredible. Loved all the seating options in the lobby. The balcony didn't look like the pictures, the door handle came off when I went to open it. The rug outside our room on the 7th floor was torn so we tripped on it when we came in and out.
Things just didn't look finished and not in a rustic way. I wouldn't have paid for a balcony if it was going to be what it was.
- Learn101 (4/5): Nowhere near worth the price tag - Hot water is not hot, water pressure in shower nonexistent, no tv remote or ironing board in my room. One of the valet attendants was rude and looked like he was taking a leisurely stroll when going to get my car. Cute lobby and restaurant make hotel look appealing but once inside the rooms there is zero special about this hotel.
- christalN8228GO (2/5): Would Not Recommend - I was excited to stay at Quirk because I heard good things, and I’ve always enjoyed the Lobby Bar and the various events hosted at Quirk. I bought the one night stay for my boyfriend and I even though the price was over $400. I called to pay ahead an I was told I would receive a receipt. I was emailed an invoice with no charges that read $0.00 due. When I called back to ask about this, someone else answered the phone and said there was a note stating “customer will pay upon arrival.” Then when I went to shower in the morning before check out there was no hot water. My boyfriend showered after me and also had a cold shower. I mentioned this to the front desk and he gave me $10 off my Lobby Bar bill and said may card would show a charge of around $555, but $100 is pending and would fall off to be $455. After leaving, I saw the invoice and noticed that I was only discounted $10 for cold showers. I called back and was told I would receive 15% off my bill which would bring my total to $450. I told this person that the other representative already said my bill was $450 so this wasn’t a discount for the cold water inconvenience. This representative said the other representative was incorrect and this was the price. The cold showers plus the service definitely put a damper on my weekend. I am very disappointed with Quirk.
- Jutta (10/5): -
- Caroline (5/5): Beautiful hotel, mediocre service - The hotel is beautifully designed and has a lot of attention to detail down to every “quirk”. The staff were not very helpful overall. I needed help with my bags and asked if there was a luggage cart. The front desk pointed to some carts and told me I could use them. No staff members offered to help me with my many bags or the luggage cart once I loaded it myself. It was very hard to navigate the lobby while pushing my cart. I’ve been to Holiday Inns that offer to help me with those things. The beds were a little too hard for my liking and the pillows too soft. My husband and I had trouble sleeping both nights of our stay.
- brianah900 (6/5): Experience - Beautiful hotel with very friendly staff. However, the room was not as clean as expected, and the bedding appeared dirty and ripped.
- James_Harrigan (8/5): Stylish urban vibe - Stylish hotel in a cool urban neighborhood. The lobby/lounge/bar had a great vibe for hanging out, with locals as well as hotel guests. Room was nicely decorated and comfortable, though no -frills. Staff was welcoming and competent.
- Muhammad Tayyab (5/5): -
- N8283VEreginam (10/5): Excellent venue - My BFF and I attended a Virginia Wine Expo event at the Quirk Hotel on 3/1/26. Everything was beautiful. The wine was excellent. I’d like to shoutout Tyler who works at the front desk. He gave us a tour of several guest rooms and suites, including one with a superior terrace. Also, he guided us through their event space. Needless to say, I’ll be back for business and pleasure.
- Y7643BHandreasl (4/5): Shower with only very hot water - Unfriendly staff at the front desk when the shower could only give hot water and the issue was never resolved and one day later they asked me to change room without any support
- Sam (7/5): -
- Karen (10/5): - Love the decore, nice little bar area with fun drinks
- Susswein (8/5): - Super cute and clean comfortable room The gym needed attention and was small.
- micahs559 (8/5): Low-flow shower heads, be warned! - Cute hotel, friendly staff, great restaurant! But if a nice relaxing shower is a thing for you after a long day, you might have a disappointing 20 minute experience during your stay. Do I take 20 minute showers? No. But that's how long it takes because they have those low-flow shower heads that make it feel like you're standing under an antique watering can, took 10 minutes just to get the temp set before I could stand under the water. Then just wait for the joy of a neighboring room turning on their hot or cold water and having to go through the process of getting the temp dialed in again. Other than that, great hotel!
- tinabC6097IU (4/5): Sadly, a hotel in decline. - I feel like the hotel is in decline. The one staff member we encountered was so unenthusiastic that he bordered on rude. The room didn't seem clean (there was someone else's hair in the bathtub). They have a digital concierge you can get information from on your phone, but there is a delay in response. I used to love this hotel, but it seems like they are cutting too many corners now.
- Companion21688236946 (10/5): I'll be back and I can't wait - It was such a fabulous experience, I plan on coming back for a few days very soon. The staff was outstanding and the food was deliciouse.
- melissamC2904QH (6/5): Beautiful, but no hot water - Beautiful hotel, but our experience was disappointing. We had no hot water for a shower, and the hotel staff did not apologize or offer any compensation or credit
- Wandergirl5 (4/5): "Quirky" Is Not Good Here - I chose Quirk Hotel because it looked like a unique, artsy hotel. I was excited about the gallery, etc. I usually seek out independent, unique hotels v. chains. It's quirky for sure - but not in an upscale way. They are trying way too hard to be cool, and failing.
Bottom line - Quirk is all quirk and no substance. The pink walls and funny animal pictures do not make up for the lack of care, maintenance and service at the property.
They charged me a $30 fee for an early check -in, but did not disclose that they would do so at the time. I am totally fine paying the fee if given the choice - but they did not dislcose it. Very misleading.
I had no hot water. There was no engineer onsite to make repairs. They discounted my rate, but did not acknowledge how inconvenient it was or acknowledge how troubling it was that a basic habitability feature was not in working order.
The heating/cooling system crashed and banged every time the fan stopped. I did not sleep because of it.
Basic features were lacking and, for that reason, I will never return.
- I8160NOelvism (10/5): Amazing - Great hotel & Stay - I had a great stay. The hotel was very clean, the staff was attentive and welcoming, and the food was delicious. Everything came together for a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
- Y9035BQfelipeb (10/5): Art & History meet Modern Aesthetic and Fine Dining!!! - Location: Quirk Hotel's central location is great for venturing out to any part of Richmond.
Atmosphere: This reimagined historic venue is absolutely beautiful!
Rooms: I love how the rooms have a modern and artistic element with a historic back drop. Very creative!!!!
Value: When you compare prices for some of the more generic hotel experiences in the area (Marriot, Hilton), Quirk Hotel offers similar rates with a truly unique experience. From art focused rooms to phenomenal food and drinks at The Lobby Bar. The value is felt from the time you walk in the door to your departure.
Service: What a personable experience. It was refreshing to engage with staff where conversation doesn't feel scripted. At every turn there were people eager to meet my needs.
Amenities: The Lobby Bar Restaurant must be a hidden gem? Although, my research of local food options brought a plethora of suggestions, my experience at The Lobby Bar was bar none the best I've had in Richmond.
- LauraLay (10/5): Amazing Experience at Quirk! - Chic, artsy and beautiful hotel in a great location downtown! We loved the pink theme, innovative cocktails, and beautiful rooms. It was especially fun to walk to restaurants and enjoy the beautiful views from the room.
- rbL9885MG (8/5): Pleasant stay. - Beautiful hotel. Unique touches . Our room had a nice view of the city. The coffee station could use a upgrade and be better supplied. Bit pricey for not having breakfast included. Great location, short walks to nice places to eat.
- BethAnnP (10/5): Great 3 night stay - We stayed at Quirk for a local volleyball tournament. The hotel is adorable. We loved the lobby and room decorations. I wish it were warmer so we could have enjoyed the courtyard or the rooftop bar. The location was perfect for walking to the convention center, and local restaurants. Our room was clean and well-appointed. The towels were fluffy, shower was hot, and the bed was comfortable, all the things you look for when you are away from home.
- Graham (6/5): - The front desk staff were lovely and the hotel is very charmingly decorated. The lobby was a pretty spot to sit with a cup of coffee or a cocktail. It was a fine experience for the most part, but the room was a suite so it was very, very noisy, and I could hear every movement of the people next-door through the connecting door. It was also distressing that not only was I jarred awake by a text at 9 AM informing me that checkout time was 11, but then housekeeping rapped on my door around 10:40 asking whether I planned to check out at 11. It felt like I was being hustled out of the room so housekeeping could get started, which just isn’t something I expected at a luxury hotel.
- Leslie37 (10/5): No Cookie-Cutter Hotel - This hotel is different in a good way. Happy, funky and friendly is the vibe. It’s an old building dressed up in her finery.
- Ryan (10/5): Staff and restaurant were above average - I loved the bar and restaurant was excellent Our balcony room was not cleaned before we arrived
- AKEEM (9/5): really great. met expectations - great ambiance, great staff no complimentary parking
- Patrick (5/5): So so. Wouldn’t go back unless no other choice available. - Clean. Good location. 30 dollar fee to check in at 3 instead of 4. Warm shower, not hot. No blankets just a thin duvet.
- 847khaliab (4/5): Ok. Probably won’t stay again. - I have stayed in the Terrace Suite (202) twice in two years, both during the month of January.
Goods: the lobby is even cuter than the photos. So adorable and worth considering for event spaces, but probably not accommodations.
Others: Here are the issues we experienced during this stay:
The pullout sofa had no sheets. Last year I sent an email asking for the pullout sofa to be set up and it wasn't. So I didn't bother this time; but I wasn't expecting a bare mattress.
When you are facing the pullout sofa there is a side table on the left. There is a brown sticky stain that is hard to miss. It was gross and off putting.
In the restroom that comes immediately after the entrance, the faucet is broken. I appreciate the building and hardware are aged. But, this was unacceptable. If you do not keep a hand on the faucet, the spigot rotates until the water is flowing exclusively on the counter and not the sink.
When you are facing the bed in the main bedroom, the outlets on the right side are inoperable. All of them: the two traditional outlets and the USB. This is a known issue, because an extension cord is routed for the sound machine.
The carpet underneath the main bed was rotated at some point. The line between the part of the floor that was covered and the part that was not is obvious and equally off-putting. It's a 3'x6' brown/black line that makes any logical person question how often the floors are given a wet mop.
There are 2 entrances to this suite. The room key only works for one of the doors. The other door is coded as room 200. Not once was this mentioned to us. Instead we spent 20+ minutes on Saturday morning having multiple keys remade because we bolted the main entrance.
You all hosted a bachelorette party over the weekend. The ladies were unbearable and stayed in the room next to ours. Dug was unhelpful and rude.
I would genuinely like to know why we were assigned that room. I have a hard time understanding the rationale of charging $500+ per night, but not ensuring that all the outlets work, the floors are clean, and the plumbing intact.
- J9498JXellenh (2/5): 5 star price for 2 star comfort - My husband booked a suite for me at Quirk as a Christmas present to take a night to myself as a working mom of two. He thoughtfully booked me a suite (total cost was nearly $700) so that I could have a bath. When I arrived to my room there was no bath. I attempted to call the front desk to see if I could change rooms but the in room phone was not working. I had invited friends to meet me in the lobby for their happy hour starting at 4, so I decided to let go of the bath and take a shower and enjoy my evening. There was no hot water - the shower got to a tepid temperature.
The bedding is cheap and the main blanket incredibly thin. The towels are thin and scratchy. I asked for an additional blanket after the happy hour (and the staff who were all kind and polite did provide). In the night I went to flush the toilet and it it wouldn’t flush. It later did work by holding down the flusher.
As someone who lives here and enjoys an occasional staycation, I had hoped that could rely on Quirk, but at the price point in particular, it was simply not in any way a luxury stay. I let the front desk know my concerns and was issued a $100 refund a week later after calling to follow up. Based on the $700 price tag and the lack of hot water I felt that this should have been significantly higher. I will not be recommending Quirk or staying there again.
- 229douglash (10/5): Visited for my wife’s birthday with good friends. - Celebrated my wife’s birthday with good friends. Visited the nearby Virginia Museum of Art and saw the Giants show. Took the free city bus to the Valentine. Visited galleries across the street.
Ate many good meals in Richmond. What a good time!
- Amber (8/5): Great value, comfortable and chic - Very cute boutique hotel with good amenities and comfortable stay. Valet parking was not the greatest
- Explorer24207910867 (2/5): Horrible service and staff - Bad check in experience. Room was not ready at check in time. Even though I was told they would call me, it took me checking on the status for the room to be miraculously ready. I had ordered a charcuterie board during the booking process, which was not in the room. After I inquired and proceeded to cancel, since it was going to get there too close to us leaving, they still delivered it to the room. I had also booked a dog package that came with a doggie basket. Those things were also not in the room; I had to call and after speaking to a couple of people, they dropped the stuff off to the room. During check out, the valet man handed me the keys and told me to go get my car, which was parked a block away.
This hotel lacks customer service, friendliness, attention to guest needs, and staff! Seemed they had the same people at night that were working during the next morning. While we waited, there was no attempt to make us happy, like offering us something to drink or even showed us where the bar was, if we decided to wait there. Save your money for a better hotel!
- mdavidwallace84 (2/5): Great location and aesthetic ruined by disorganization and poor leadership - We chose to go to Richmond to celebrate New Year’s Eve because of this hotel and their NYE celebration. Unfortunately, I spent much of the evening before the party trying to confirm that I was allowed to attend the event. It turned out they had made the same mistake with several guests. There was never an apology offered, nor did I have an opportunity to speak with any one of authority, even though I know they were made aware. We left feeling like an inconvenience. I would recommend saving money and staying someplace further out of the city where you are wanted. Then you can use the difference saved to rideshare into downtown.
- Fiechter (7/5): Hotel and New Year’s Eve party were good, velet service losing the keys to my car in the morning bad, should not have to - Room and hotel were comfortable The day we arrived there was no hot water. The next day was better but temperature of water varied greatly with small adjustments to faucet.
On checkout the valet service lost the keys to our car. I made a complaint to the receptionist wanting to have our valet service fee refunded. She told me it was a third-party contractor that I would have to go through them. I made a complaint to the contractor service but have not heard back from them. I would like to make sure that this money is refunded.
- Bennett (8/5): Very comfortable stay in a nice and truly quirky hotel - Cute decoration and fun vibe Attention to detail- only one robe in room with double occupancy, no water in rooms, no trash in the bathroom
- Jennifer (10/5): Wonderful Property & Staff - Any boutique hotel can rely on artistic design and Instagram worthy details to fill rooms, but Quirk delivered in full with some of the best service and hospitality I’ve encountered as a frequent traveler. The hotel is truly focused on guest experience. Appreciated the comfy bed, water filling stations, and ample space to work functionally in my room. The unique design of the sink (faucet on the side) results in the counter/mirror and anything placed there getting sprayed with water if turned to anything beyond a trickle. Was slightly annoying to navigate, but a small inconvenience.
- thenewtons_10 (2/5): Completely disappointed - We were there to celebrate our 40th anniversary with dinner and an overnight stay. We booked a rooftop room so we could have a view of our beautiful city and the holiday lights from our terrace. Before our stay, we were offered an upgrade to a suite and opted for this as well. Once we arrived, an issue with the linen service prevented us from checking in for an hour. When we got into our room, we discovered it wasn't a rooftop room. While it was a suite, it was on the 2nd floor and the terrace looked out over the top of an event tent in the atrium. The room was quite cold - even with the heat turned up to the max. The phone to call the front desk didn't work. The hotel gave us a celebratory bottle of prosecco, but it had a metal top that required a bottle opener....there wasn't one. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant - surprisingly, both the service and the dinner were quite good. Later, the room was still cold and the only blanket for the bed was a thin cover I found in the closet.
Since getting sleep that night was not an option, we decided to go home quite early. That morning, we also discovered that the shower had only cold water. The valet app indicated we were third in line to get our car....actually, the valet wasn't even open. The one employee who happened to be walking through the lobby offered to get our car and print the bill for me. I was surprised to see I had been charged twice for the "upgrade" and when I talked with the manager about this and the other issues, she refunded the duplicate charge and credited us about 50% for the room (only after I reminded her that she offered it during our 1st phone call). I probably spent more time over two days trying to get the charges for our stay straight than the time we spent at the hotel.
To say we were disappointed in our stay that was intended to celebrate a milestone anniversary would be quite an understatement. I would definitely not recommend the Quirk Hotel - it is an embarrassment to think this would be an accommodation offered to visitors to our city. There are many other high quality hotel options in Richmond - we will definitely choose one of the others next time!

- N9164GVkristens (2/5): Would not recommend - Awful experience: incredibly pretentious staff, cold shower water, stained sheets, and bad food. Over priced and not worth the money. Will be going to a more reliable and comfortable hotel next visit.
- Kathleen (9/5): Welcoming and comfortable stay in a very pretty setting - Charming and comfortable; welcoming staff Sticky countertops in lobby/cafe area where I ate breakfast
- christina (10/5): - Comfy beds and great decor. Amazing breakfast! Nothing
- Donna (8/5): Quirky hotel in a great location of Richmond. - Very fun hotel. Fantastic location. Room and bathroom were large and well furnished. It was really warm in the room. Had to turn the A/C on in December. Valet parking drop off was a bit unorganized; pickup was better. The guys were great but overwhelmed.
- Gabrielle (8/5): Good getaway weekend with my husband - Food and drinks were great when the kitchen was open the second day. Our room was nice, though wish the beds and pillows were a tad more comfy. Shower was awesome and overall loved our stay. Food was good but a limited room service menu during Thanksgiving night was disappointing. Having a closed kitchen on arrival should have been relayed in the emails and text we got welcoming us for an upcoming stay. Ordered room service for breakfast and it was delivered to the wrong room and was wrong when it arrived, it was comped which was nice.
- Peeples (10/5): Had an amazing time at the Quirk! The staff was accommodating and the atmosphere was exceptional -
- Leslie (9/5): The atmosphere made me want to stay in the room happily. - N/a. Wish the lobby could provide a complimentary coffee station. More coffee cups in room. Shades were too hard to use.
- David (8/5): We enjoyed our time and will stay again when in Richmond most likely. - Room is very clean as are the hallways and common areas. It was our anniversary and the staff sent us a bottle of wine which was very kind. Bartender was cool and recommended drinks at the place where we were going to go eat. All personnel we had contact with were kind and professional. One of the bedside lamps didn't work. I tried the bulb in the other lamp and determined it was a problem with the lamp and not the bulb. Also, we couldn't figure out where to plug in the coffee maker in the area where it was. It wasn't until the following morning that we found the outlets under the bedside tables. The area is dark and the outlets are dark so we didn't see them until we were leaving. Perhaps a small "power" button sticker on the front of the table would help. Also, the room only had one robe. We called down for another and it was brought right up.
- Martin (9/5): -
- Elisa (8/5): -
- Marissa (4/5): - Seemed run down and didn’t get the room I booked. Staff was too busy to actually help and find solutions.
- jennifer (6/5): - While I wanted to like this hotel there were several negative that adversely affected my stay. Upon entering our room we noticed an odor and musty smell, we never could figure out what it was but everytime we left the room and came back you noticed it immediately. When I tried to open the blinds I realized they were also broken, once I got them open a few feet I was unable to close them again. I could overlook all of this if it weren’t for the last and final straw. When I went to shower there was no hot water. I called the. Front desk and they said let it run and they would reset the boiler. I let it run for 30 minutes then had to shower in barely and I mean barely lukewarm water. My 2 children were in the same boat and it was not an enjoyable bedtime. The property was cute so I hated this. I choose it for a fun place to stay while looking at colleges with my daughter, unfortunately I would recommend it again. I was going to let the front desk know when I checked out how disappointed I was but no one even asked how my stay was.
- Fraser (8/5): -
- Mirjam (9/5): -
- Mary (6/5): - The staff were friendly and consistently went above and beyond, but the hotel itself has not been well-maintained and feels like it was cheaply updated to begin with.
- david (10/5): - Beautiful old department store converted into a wonderful hotel.
- Christine (1/5): Not coming back - Lobby was pretty Rooms were extremely dirty
- Emil (8/5): -
- Hartman (10/5): Our room was painted in a cloud motif, we were definitely in heaven. - Exceptionally eclectic. Nothing comes to mind
- Renee (10/5): - Love the Quirk! The cutest hotel I’ve ever seen. It’s my go-to whenever I’m in the area.
- Darleen (10/5): - Artistic / beautiful aesthetic, excellent customer service, fantastic dining / 5 star culinary delight!
- Patrick (10/5): - The staff are friendly and helpful. Smooth check in.
- Wilder (10/5): - It's a beautiful old hotel with a brand new look. The color palette was very subtle, but charming. We went to a concert at the new Allianz Amphitheater which was only a 15 minute drive away.
I love downtown Richmond. It's very walkable, which helps when traveling with a pupster. We were traveling with a pet, no problem there, but it appears that a previous pet had an accident, or a person spliced something between one of the beds and the window. It did not appear to have been addressed.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Meh - The hotel is really attractive but my room wasn’t very comfortable– from the mattress to how the bathroom is situated. The rooms also need a deep clean. It wasn’t filthy but it also wasn’t clean– it was just tidy. Because of the degree of dust on the curtains, the heavy yellow food spills on the floor that have been there for a while, I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again. The beds were also full sized, not queen, which I think was a bad choice.
- Caroline (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (4/5): Effort is evident; ultimately lacking in the end - I hope pink isn't a color that you hate. It's everywhere. Don't intend to sleep before 11pm on the night of a wedding. My friend had a migraine headache; the loud music from the event in the courtyard just made things worse. I wasn't satisfied with "Thank you for your patience," in response to my question about the loud music. I wasn't feeling patient; I would rather have been asleep in prep for the next day.
From the vantage point of safety, I found the fact that there was not one grab bar in the shower and nothing to keep the shower floor tiles from becoming slippery to be concerning. One of the two emergency water sprinklers in our room was blocked by a support pillar. The toilet seat and cover were not tightly screwed on. The water flow in the sink has to be high so that the water will spray far enough to be usable. The room doors are rigged not to slam and to give you time to roll your suitcase behind you and into the hallway before it closes. But that also means that I can't shut and lock the door quickly if I'm not comfortable with someone following me in the corridor.
The staff was helpful and friendly in responding to questions, even explaining unspecified charges on the bill.
Food and drink prices were high, but to be expected. Be sure to check out The Lift one block away for breakfast -- quick & satisfying & affordable with friendly service.
The decor and atmosphere suits young people best. I heard that the rooftop has great view though I didn't see it myself.
- Manolia (9/5): Muy bonito el ambiente - Pink color Breakfast
- Nicki (6/5): We wanted a boutique hotel experience, which the Quirk provides to some extent but the customer service was a bit lackin - Quirky design! Interesting concept. Rooms were a bit basic - looked great in photos but didn’t live up to expectations.
Staff too laid back! Reception staff when we arrived were not very professional or attentive (receptionist was eating crisps when I approached desk to check in). No help with luggage.
- James (8/5): Very pleasant.if you don’t like the color Pink this hotel is not for you - Rooftop terrace There are no electric chargers on-site for your vehicles as the booking.com site says. The hotel had to remove them and asked booking .com to remove the mention of electric chargers but they have not done so
- kim (5/5): Beautiful old building given a face lift but still thevolunbilites from old structure. - Roof top bar Loud street noise
Thin walls in room,
Pipes made weird noises
Could her toilet from room above
Had to change room because of strange noise coming from HVAC.
Mattress was not pleasant
- Verified traveler (8/5): Still good but slipped a bit from previous stays. - This is the third time we have stayed here. We like the hotel and the convenient location. This stay wasn’t quite as good as the others. The hallway had an odd smell- and our friends said their room smelled as well. The water in our shower was lukewarm and didn’t get any hotter. We would have asked for this to be resolved but we only stayed one night. That said I would stay here again. In general, I like the hotel
- Phyllis (10/5): - Comfortable hotel.
- KRISTEN (10/5): Boutique hotel - Greet boutique hotel thst was super dog friendly. Highly recommend!
- Megan (6/5): - Overall it was a fine stay. Felt the staff could have been a little more forth coming with being helpful and assisting. After our
