Guest Reviews
- Carlos (9/5): -
- Guest (8/5): -
- Stacey (8/5): -
- Philip (8/5): - Nive Colonial style hotel with nice cebtral courtyard Road noise was a bit load.
- Anthony (8/5): - Great location, helpful staff and lovely old historical building No lifts for access with luggage to upper floors
- Paul (7/5): Good - Heritage ambience Room could have been brighter
- Gerardo (8/5): I enjoyed it, it was very relaxing and cozy - Quiet, very good service
- Karen (9/5): Lovely hotel with a bit of character - Lovely hotel with a bit of character in the heart of Georgetown. Staff were friendly and helpful and allowed us to store our bags when we went on a trip for a couple of days. Dinner in the bar was really enjoyable. The only downside was the price. A perfectly normal dinner for two people cost us 100 Euro.
- Mark (6/5): Charming and well appointed city hotel - Lovely old building with comfortable rooms I didn’t have a hot shower during my stay. Food service slow and variable.
- Ronnie (7/5): A very good overall experience. - The breakfast was adequate although not extensive. But quite enough. There were some ants in the room.
- Beulah (8/5): Relaxing, enjoyable. - Location in good proximity to historic locations I needed to visit - easy access to transportation. Coud hear noise/sounds from outside while in room - not loud but prefers no outside inteference.
- Rob (9/5): -
- Victor (10/5): -
- Jean-Manuel (4/5): décevant - rapport qualité prix + service.
- Bryony (5/5): Wresting on its laurels - Lovely old building in a quiet area. Aircon works and the hot water comes through eventually. Only a few restaurants in the area but dinner at the hotel is decent, if expensive. Breakfast was expensive and a very poor quality. The staff (with the exception of the night receptionist lady) were unhelpful and surly. We had a problem with our room which we reported early morning but wasn’t fixed. The manager eventually came to look at 9pm and also couldn’t fix it. No apology, no offer of a free drink for compensation, just a shrug and ‘deal with it.’
- Jean-Manuel (5/5): - Nice historical building Overpriced and staff service like everything in georgetown
- Neil (8/5): -
- Antoine (7/5): Pleasant - Didn't have any
- Nelson (7/5): -
- David (8/5): Enjoyable, comfortable, quiet, excellent treatment and support by the staff. - More space for parking
- Austin (4/5): -
- Chase (7/5): - Old world, which was nice. Wood floors and furnishings to match. The room was comfortable. Staff were pleasant and the manager was very professional and friendly. No facial tissue provided. Blowing one's nose using toilet paper is not ideal. Toilet appeared not to have been flushed when I checked into the room.
- Juliet (8/5): Very comfortable. The staff are a credit to the institution - Didn't have breakfast Continue to improve.
You're on the right track.
- ONEIL (6/5): - Not too impressed
- Nicola (10/5): Cara is like a home from home for our family. Over 50 years we have been coming to Guyana and this hotel stands the tes - Cara is like home from
Home. It has a beautiful homely but premium feel, immediately relaxing and gorgeous timber building. There is nothing to not like, unless you are high maintenance.
- Elaine (9/5): Beautiful historic place.. Great vibes - Beautiful place...ambience lovely. Stairs?
- Sandy (8/5): - It’s a homey place.
- Seeranie (10/5): - It was great the staff were excellent ,friendly
- Navnit (7/5): Nice quaint hotel with a lovely restaurant but no lifts to reach the two floors - Location No lift or escalator. Difficult for people with handicap. No rooms on the ground floor. We had a tough time climbing stairs.
- Craig (9/5): Superb -
- John (8/5): Disappointed - There were noises from outside that kept me awake. There was no hot water.
- Andrew (10/5): Very pleasant with comfortable indoor and outdoor spaces. - Felt like a family run hotel. Restaurant was very good, but a bit formal. There were times I would have preferred something simpler, and in the neighborhood, simple meant fried chicken or pizza.
- Paula (7/5): Good -
- Juliet (6/5): Pleasant -
- Powell (8/5): Overall, the Cara is a nice, safe, and comfortable place to stay. - I liked that it was quiet, centrally located and that there was a manned security booth at the entrance that provided 24 hours security. The terrace is located in the corridor outside of the room. Opening the blinds gives you no privacy. So, the only natural light is from a small window near the ceiling in the bathroom. The service in the restaurant is very slow, since the food is cooked to order. This property does not take Amex.
- Zenobia (9/5): Superb - Vanity with mirror or a full length mirror
- Charmaine (8/5): Very good - Colonial building very nice
- Jessica (8/5): Very good -
- Jason (8/5): Very good -
- Christopher Andrew (2/5): - A complete and total dump hotel. It's a very odd property (don't let the pictures fool you). The staff is rude, unpleasant, and do not like their job. Save yourself and pick another hotel in Georgetown.
- Osarogie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Winslow (7/5): Good -
- Richard (9/5): Well maintained colonial hotel with very good restaurant - Staff were excellent. An older building but the colonial feel has been beautifully maintained. Very good food in the restaurant. Some noise at night due to a party (it was Saturday) and the crickets!
- Glynis (3/5): 1st and only time will visit. - Friendly staff Entering the room had a bad musty smell. Mold in bath tub, ants running on all surfaces, old, uneven floor, creaky bed, toilet took at least 3 tries to flush.
- Thomas (9/5): Superb -
- Butler (9/5): Superb - Welcoming staff, clean and comfortable room. Good breakfast with a good variety of options.
- Living (10/5): always feels like home! - Execellent food
- Albert (10/5): - Safe , convenient and good parking.
- Butler (8/5): Very good - Lovely old colonial style property - well kept and unspoilt. Comfortable bed, clean room and good walk in shower in the ensuite. Cold water provided in the fridge. It was difficult to carry heavy suitcases up and down the wooden staircases.
- Ch (10/5): - Great service, food and environment
- Norbert (4/5): - No hot water to shower
- Wendall (4/5): Would hesitate to recommend Cara. - Housekeeping staff (especially Carol and Kim) was very friendly and always willing to help and please. Thanks.
Also, Mark from Security was always cheerful, pleasant and willingly offered his assistance when needed. Thanks. Tap water quality was poor; there was an ever persistent unpleasant smell of impurity whenever the faucet was turned on.
Credit card on file was charged more than I was quoted and agreed to at the time of booking. Lame excuse from the Cara checkout person was that there was an interim rate increase since my booking. I was never notified of such, therefore never agreed to any rate change. I abhor unprincipled business practices!
- Keegan (4/5): Disappointing - bed linens my feet got entagled and my feet got damaged. I had to sick leave for feet to heal
- Satinder (8/5): Hood - Good Good
- Vanelda (4/5): - No room service, dining not available at times and inconvenient
- Kartic (5/5): Passable - A Gym or some facility to exercise For the cost , there was no facilities
- Vinod (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ricardo (8/5): - The staff was very friendly and always willing to assist.
My room was clean and very comfortable.
Internet connection was reasonable.
The rooms are not soundproof enough, I heard every activity outside of my room
- Rainer (8/5): Very good -
- Ederle Lord (10/5): - Love it and will return only bad thing is they program the tv not to stream from your phone and they don't have Netflix or Prime set up so your only entertainment is local channels
- Anthony (4/5): Not comfortable - The accommodation itself is ok but, the rooms are not isolated (noise cancelation). You will hear steps, knocks, and scratches on the wooden floors and walls. Also, the people who have very early flight AM flights due to non-isolated rooms will hear a lot of noise.
- Shirley (10/5): 3rd stay at Cara Lodge Hotel - Great staff, great location, beautiful old hotel. Loved it all!
- Shirley (10/5): Perfect, I'm going back today for a second stay. - Great location can walk to historical sites in the area, and it is so quiet!
Love the historical architecture. Nothing, all perfect.
- Geoffrey (10/5): - It an old house in the centre of Georgetown which has been a hotel for many years. It has an open courtyard in the centre that induces a cooling breeze during the evening. No better place to stay in Georgetown
- Michelle (9/5): Confortable stay - The warmth and helpfulness of the staff and the tasty meals. Appliances modern. Furnishings a bit dated.
- Steven (8/5): Very good - Centrally located in town
- Norbert (9/5): Superb -
- Jason (7/5): Good -
- Suzie (9/5): I would definitely stay here again, charming place - Charming wood building, and beautiful courtyard to sit hangout. Very close to everything I liked everything. They could have lively music at the restaurant gor guest on the weekends
- Sergio (6/5): - Stayed here for 3 nights. The restaurant had a good selection of food, and it was quite good. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The rooms are very outdated and need to be renovated. The WiFi didn’t work up in the rooms, only in the lobby could we connect.
- Antoine (6/5): - Food is very good, Staff is very good.
Rooms are clean but old (need some renovation)
Sometime missing soap, shampoo and water.
- Phillip (8/5): Very good -
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant Hotel - Pleasant
- JOYCELYN (8/5): - I was in Guyana for a short stay and needed to be nearby. It was a plesant experience. Staff was cordial and helpful. They hotel has done a very good job of modernizing the space and still maintained its quaint historic features.
- Deborah (8/5): Very well taken care of - The heritage aspects The lack of elevators
- Rejean (10/5): - The property was very picturesque. The lawns were well manicured and the building is well preserved with updated features like internet access and modernized bathrooms. The mattresses are super-comfortable and afford guests great sleep. The seating areas surrounding by beautiful foliage were very relaxing. Because the furniture was susceptible to dust, great care should be taken to maintain
them. Because of the foliage, is there something that can be done about the mosquitoes? Furthermore, while it may not be safe for each room to have a microwave, I suggest that some common area should be set aside with disposable dishes and flatware for guests to warm up food.
- lennox (10/5): - Food excellent, service awesome, employees are super supportive and very friendly
- Aneka (9/5): Fantastic accommodations. The food and service was great. Loved the location, I would stay again. - The breakfast was phenomenal. Nothing. I would stay again.
- Tayab (8/5): - Room was great, good air conditioning, ceiling fan, mattress was soo comfortable. Service was top notch. It was a dhame that the food was low quality. We ate their 5 times 2 breakfast and 3 lunch/dinner. Brrakfast was 4/10 I didn't like the fake suasage and the toast with no butter, reaally wasn't worth the price we paid. Lunch/dinner, the beef burger was mush and couldn't finish it and the chips was standard frozen chips deep fried. The quality for the price we paid was defo not worth it. Would recommend eating out.
- Arkadiusz (7/5): Good -
- Avinash (2/5): This hotel is only good for white people. Other race should avoid it - Nothing Staff behavior was very bad specially reception was pathetic. This hotel is racially biased. if you are white guy, you will treated well otherwise you are unwelcome guest. Staff does not even bother to smile.I spent around 500USD in this hotel but I was not treated as par with other guest. I still can't forgot way lady at reception looked at me and talk to me. It was horrible experience.
- Sarika (2/5): - I called for directions and no one answered. Finally found the place and entrance is closed so we entered via the exit. Then walked in and found a half eaten plate of food on the front desk but no concierge. A "security guard" then approached and checked us in... On top of all that i believe i was double charged so that's another stress. I have and will continue to share my experiences of this establishment.
- Peterson (8/5): Great stay at The Cara Lodge - Clean rooms, comfortable beds, friendly and helpful staff, and beautiful well-kept grounds. This is an excellent location in Georgetown close to Bourda Market, Botanical Gardens, St. George Cathedral, Stabroek Market, Shopping Centres, etc. There is no elevator and no pool. Also, they were very slow in the restaurant. We waited very long for food and to receive our bill after eating. The staff at the restaurant were friendly but could likely benefit from some customer service training. The food was tasty and well prepared.
- Rebekahp (7/5): Good -
- Lincoln (2/5): - No internet connection or tv no one comes to clean in 2 days and rooms are too small and not enough ventilation for such a cramp space this hotel is just for sleeping
- Orçun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (4/5): Disappointing - Beautiful colonial setting, nice bar staff and good cocktails. Reception staff were not welcoming and not particularly helpful. The room was shabby with most of the bathroom equipment decrepit. We stayed in Lace b and b the next day and for less than half the price the quality was an order of magnitude higher.
- Rebekahp (8/5): Very good -
- Naresh (2/5): - I would describe Cara Lodge :
The Staff are like Gems in a SINKING SHIP .
Historic wooden building that has seen better days.
The Manager is useless: the Common Area is tired looking and I came for the CPL (Cricket) , telly in the Common Area not working and never replaced - whenever I asked , I got a lot of LAME EXCUSES.
Overall , for Premium Rates a certain standard is expected , which was Light Years behind .
Dr.Naresh Armoogum
- Cerelyn (4/5): Doubt I will stay there in the future. - For the most part stay was ok. Third time at Cars Lodge, majority of star were pleasant but one or two needed further customer service training. See above.
- Cerelyn (4/5): Disappointing - Location & food although a bit pricey. Manner of some staff, need retraining in customer service.
- Stephanie (5/5): Convenient location - - Location
- restaurant staff
- extensive TV channel access Old, tired and shabby in bedrooms, especially bathrooms.
Some of the reception staff are not customer service focused.
Restaurant prices vastly inflated.
- Wright (10/5): Comfortable and historic. Great restaurant service and beautiful environment. - Beautiful historic building, comfortable beds and wonderful pillows. Great AC in a very hot climate. It’s no big deal, but I wish they had an elevator to take our luggage upstairs.
- Charles H (8/5): An Oasis in Georgetown - Considering the context of Georgetown, Cara was an oasis
- Andre (9/5): Superb -
- Osfaso (10/5): - Thanks for the warm stay
- Peter (8/5): Very good - The ambience is lovely - old colonial wooden house with relaxed vibes. Since covid the management have taken away the chairs outside each room. That was a nice feature and should be reinstated. We also used to appreciate the complimentary biscuits and snacks that were left in the room pre covid - they have gone too.
