Guest Reviews
- Pkb081447 (6/5): A O.K. place to stay - a comfortable stay. they provided with breakfast and also provided a hotel van (for a fee) to drop us to the airport. They were close to the train station, you can go walking they also pick you up if you call them
- Ashleydlg92 (2/5): Please DO NOT stay here!! - DO NOT stay at this hotel!! It’s absolutely disgusting! Bugs, hair, dirty towels, stains, horrible smells, drugs, weird owners, pretty much everything you don’t want in a hotel. I don’t know how they’re still in business…
- Dootsee (2/5): Terrible - The manager (?) yelled at me because I wouldn’t leave my ID with him. He is creepy, and I couldn’t understand why he was demanding I leave my ID at the front desk. Had human trafficking vibes. The lobby was full of broken furniture, and smelled like rotten fish.
- Ripoffinder (2/5): Anchorage Suite Lodge - Complete rip off. Theifs and liars own this establishment. They don't even speak English. Filthy, nasty room with bugs. False advertising by these people, do not trust them. Told one price then charged another.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Cable didn't work. no TV reception. shower tub not cleaned last 5 occupants. 5 different used soap slivers left at tub. toilet not cleaned blood on toilet seat brown marks in toilet w blood. Door swipe key not working. Promised
- Tim (2/5): - Horrible place. Could not log on to their wifi fast enough,to cancel future stays.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I already wrote to Expedia about this- obviously no one reads client notes. I couldn’t stay in this hotel and had to book an inlet hotel very last minute. This caused me great stress and a lot of money - I’m still on my vacation so I couldn’t call Expedia immediately but I booked the inlet hotel that same night through Expedia due to the terrible state of the suites hotel in anchorage. I expect a refund
- Verified traveler (2/5): Avoid - One of the most Disgusting places I’ve ever stayed!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The staff in the front office bordered on rude. The bed cover was dirty and there was no coffee in the morning...
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Not clean only 1 towel cigarette holes in the sheets no new soap broken window handle no a/c
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Bugs in bathroom, toilet plugged, leak in entry way with wet carpet, scorched box spring from a previous fire, lights didn't work. Not secure. Someone entered our room in the middle of the night. Will not stay there again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Shuttle was er niet en verder was het vies en oud.
- CS192 (2/5): Filthy, sketchy, creepy - avoid this hotel! - This hotel was disgusting. My first clue was that there was only one car in the parking lot other than ours however, there were plenty sketchy looking people on the property. There is a foul smell as soon as you enter the building. The manager escorted my partner to our room at check-in and told him that he had to make sure to close the bathroom door if he wanted to take a shower which we thought was odd but became clear later.
The bed was absolutely disgusting. The sheet looked like it had not been washed. It had an odd crusty pink stain on one side and a brown stain on the other. It was rumpled as if it had been slept in and not changed for a long time. The mattress had horrible stains on it. I chose to sleep on top of the bedding in my street clothes. There was a fridge and microwave in the room neither of which worked. The bathroom had no shower curtain in it. My partner tried to shower but ended up with a big swamp in the bathroom. He mopped it up as best he could and gave up. He hung the top sheet from the bed on the shower railing as a makeshift shower curtain so that the bathroom wouldn't be flooded when I used it. The towels were thin and worn and had black stains on them. I would never NEVER stay at this horrible place again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Wouldn't stay here again. The other group we were travelling with had to leave.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Disgusting and scary - One of the scariest and most disgusting nights of my life. Do not stay here for any reason.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Room was filthy and the lobby smelled. No amenities were in included. Area felt unsafe. Would not recommend.pay a little extra and stay somewhere else.
- Joseph (2/5): This Lodge has met it's final days - This lodge should not even be an option on Hotels.com. The hallways smell like sewer. The lobby area is trashed with objects tossed about. No air conditioning in the room. the towels and linens are at least 10 years old. the window overlooks drug users in the parking lot and the cold water in the sink did not work. Very outdated furniture, carpet, bed, furnace, television, etc. I slept with clothes on and roaches in the bathroom. The family owned lodge is owned by a friendly nice family but the lodge should just be torn down. Probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Also did not realize what a bad area of town it was in.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Nothing at all the place was very dirty and gross.very old bed and all the furniture
- Verified traveler (2/5): - It sucked and smelled horrible wont stay there again
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The lobby smelled like a dirty casino that had never been cleaned and there were vagrants in the parking lot.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We have a crew that travels in and out of Alaska, and they say there is drug activity, dirty bad part of town..EXPEDIA PUT THIS ON YOUR DO NOT SELL LIST
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The guy had given both our rooms away by the time we got there. It looked pretty rough anyway, so probably just as well.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - It stank,it was filthy dirty walls dried up soda on all four walls smelly pillows ,dried up dirt on the heater vents just so filthy
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Travelocity shame on you to advertise this property. The lodge is dirty, dirty, dirty. I had to clean the bathroom, nobody had clean that bathroom in weeks. The carpets old,the full fridge, junk smell and is patch with tape. The beds falling apart, ripped box springs. The lobby smells. In conclusion a dump. I hope somebody comes an inspected this place. If this place has any start, take it away.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Drug dealers messy place, crack heads. Charged more than agreed
- Larrie (2/5): IT'S A FLOP HOUSE FOR BUMS! - Horrid experience! Room was not acceptable! Had no TV the Refrigerator was unplugged so it wasnt cold when we got there! Room card programmer didn't work took 15 minutes to get 1 card for 3 adults! Vagrants all around the place! People appear to be moving in residence! 2 cars in the parking lot on jack stands! Owner speaks VERY broken English! Never even took the bags out of the car and asked for refund! After 1 hr of arguments and 2 police officers later! Was told I could get refund in the Morning! Booked elsewhere! Keep the $138 I'm not gonna bother! I have the Police Report and will deal with it thru my Credit Card!
- John (6/5): A disappointed visitor - We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. It was a very run down hotel that was slowly being renovated. The daily room service consisted of what was asked for on the day otherwise nothing happened. It felt and looked like we were the only guests in the hotel with some itinerant people coming and going. A number of locals appeared to live in the car park and at times there was a lot of noise. Within 300 feet of the hotel there were up to 10 locals sleeping rough on the streets. This could improve after the renovations are complete but I doubt it. Would definitely not stay there again or recommend it to others.
- MP (4/5): - Hotel very dirty, no A/C, no TV. Room carpet, bathroom and walls filthy, not cleaned in who knows how long. Owners courteous but dk nit recommend a stay here. For the price I could have found an older hotel that was clean with functioning amenities.
- K597HKmichaelf (4/5): Gross - The place is cheap, dirty and smells of a nursing home. Oddly though the prices are steep. The rooms come with a TV with limited cable. The shower takes 10-13 min to heat up. Sound echos from the hallway into the suite. Just not a nice place.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location was good, the staff was friendly and accommodating and the room was sufficient
- Alenya (4/5): Not worth the stay - The lobby smelled staff reminded us 5 times check out was at 11 I know hotel rules... felt as they tried to hurry guest out.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Crusing - Motel is old,but clean. The location is not the best, and nothing around to eat.
The manger can not speak English very well.
- shonnieh2017 (2/5): Absolutely a waste of time and money. - Was very unhappy with the service here. The first room was absolutely filthy, handprints on the windows and mirrors, nothing was wiped down, the fridge was disgusting, the bathroom had dirt everywhere, even the carpet, and the walls are covered in a yellow powder stains. Then the front desk man brought up a bottle of amonia and sprayed random surfaces, not even checking anything, and proceeded to give us the bottle to clean the room ourselves because he was about to charge us an extra $85 for cleaning. After complaining, they showed us to another room because there are no refunds, the next room was much better but the front desk man became very disrespectful towards me, telling me I was not his guest and to not tell him what to do or give my opinion when I just paid for 2 nights to stay. This man can barely speak a word of English and the management was not very much help either. They will not take what you have to say into consideration. I don't know why this business is still up and running because they are not sanitary, and they could care less about what you want or how you feel as long as they hound your money. They will attempt to charge you extra for everything, even for having a visitor for a day. Please everyone, do not waste your time or money here. Because we sure regret giving them our money because now there's no way to get it back and we're stuck sleeping in a disgusting hotel.
- Linda (4/5): Room had dirty walls and baseboard heaters. - Room had dirty baseboard heaters. Holes and rough areas on the dirty walls were speckled in prep for painting but it looks like the painter never showed up! Freezer was caked with ice and unusable. Missing bulbs in lamp. Bed was very comfortable and clean, however.
- Verified traveler (6/5): ok hotel close to airport - ok for one night. staff was very helpful, close to some cafes.
- Gary (6/5): A place to sleep, not to stay. - The hotel is under much needed construction. Our room was on the third floor and there is no elevator in the building(carried 50lb suitcase up three flights). The bedding was worn with the sagging mattress issues.
- 724alexanderl (2/5): Terrible place! - NO, NO, NO and again NO! Don't stay here. It's very dirty place. And it not a cheap place to stay (fee reached $117/night as if it were a 4 star hotel). We are spent money for buying our own bedding set, furniture covers, cleaning supply and time to clean the room. 9 days was without any housekeeping. Many safety issues, like chemicals are scattered along the walls (we had 11 month baby and watched her all the time, erected barriers from our travel bags , because she could easily take that chemicals into her mouth). Old food in the refrigerator, dirty radiators, hairs in the bed, a stove and a trash can lid were in food waste and many many other issues. Windows were open all the time, otherwise in the room smelled bad
- Andrea (6/5): a night in anchorage - It was great. My family loved it
- Verified traveler (6/5): didnt spend to much time in room - ok
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Disappointed in this hotel. Not what I expected for a lodge.
- stajsi (2/5): AWEFUL - DO NOT STAY HERE.
The worst night in hotel. Managment is aweful. Even if it is last choice.
NEVER.
Even terrible is small word for that.
This is not just my oppinion all friends who stay thare said the same thing.
Thay did not return our deposit, and thay move us in the room wich was so drty.
- Jwyants71 (2/5): Rent by the hour hotel - Omg!!! We are here now and my son even refuses to take his boots off. He is just sitting in a chair. Scared when we walked in. Felt like we were coming to some teenage recovery rehab. Hope you don't have heavy luggage, the is NO elevator. We were on the third floor with heavy bags. Towels had hair all over them shower had old soap in it. Again it's a rent by the hour hotel. We are leaving in morning and headed to Sheraton. Wouldn't even give it a one star.
- angelaf288 (2/5): Don't do it!!!! - The worst night I have ever had in a hotel. The bed was horrible. You could feel every spring. The pillows were like cinder blocks. The room was so hot we had to leave the window open which made it very noisy. The shower had a decorative shower curtain that was split in the middle which made the bathroom floor totally wet. If this is the only place to stay sleep in your car. I think this is more of a place that rents by the hour if that gives you any kind visual picture. I had paid for two nights but I was not going to stay there again. We found an apartment that we could rent for the night and it was wonderful.
- Verified traveler (2/5): OMG, never again - This was a good experience, as I learned never to go that cheap again. There are no words that could convey this experience adequately. Let me just say I was afraid to sleep in the bed and took a shower on the way out. I wish I spent the extra money and slept in a descent room.
- 934lynetted (2/5): OH NO! DO NOT STAY HERE! - We were unfortunate to have booked through an agency this horrific hotel. I travel for a living, and am NOT a Hotel Snob, but this was just a disgusting, dirty, unkept property. The staff has a LOT of trouble understanding English, and they were unhelpful at every level.
We arrived in the middle of the night (flights to Anchorage are at weird hours) and my wife and I were exhausted, we would have stayed ALMOST anywhere!
Checking in was time consuming as it took a long time for someone to come to the front desk. They gave us a room on the third floor, and we could NOT believe that the only way to get there is STAIRS. We hauled our bags up the stairs, careful not to touch the dirty, grimy handrail on the way up, and entered the room. All around the ceiling perimeter is Orange PVC Pipe that was connected to something that must have been their sprinkler/fire system. The bathroom vanity had 5 light bulb outlets and only 2 had bulbs in them. The bed looked like it had already been sat/slept on, right when we walked in! It was beyond gross. The tub was dirty, and there was NO SHOWER CURTAIN, so you either take a bath, or let water run ALL over the floor, which is what most people must do, because the floor was covered in beige nasty water stains.
We tried to talk with the staff, but they did not understand and we finally just gave up, and went inside this horrible room and slept. We woke up early and checked out, touching as little as possible along the way. We wound up finding a room at the Microtel for the rest of our trip.
When I got home, my credit card had been charged for THE TWO NIGHTS!
THESE PEOPLE ARE THIEVES AND YOU SHOULD NOT GIVE THEM ANY ABILITY TO CHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD UNTIL YOU HAVE SEEN THIS PROPERTY AND AGREE THAT IT IS SUITABLE. I don't know how anyone could, but if you are able to tolerate filth, and disrepair and possible safety issues, more the power to you!
THIS HOTEL SHOULD BE MONITORED BY AUTHORITIES AND SHUT DOWN OR FORCED TO CLEAN UP THEIR ACT!
And I want my money back for the night I did not even stay there!
- Bill (2/5): Dirty old hotel - The exterior photos on line are not of this hotel. This is an old dirty rundown hotel. The lobby, hallways is total filth. The room was just a bit better. I would recommend not staying here. It reminds me of a hotel that rents by the hour.
- Verified traveler (6/5): It was OK - I was a little leary when I first showed up. The guy at the front counter wasnt the nicest. The first thing I saw was a sign that says no refunds on room after paying. The room however was pretty clean and was very quiet. I was one of the cheaper rooms in anchorage. I was just looking for a place to sleep after airport. Would stay again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Wasn't worth $100 - Too hot, no ceiling fan, no window screen, no house keeping, no elevator, no ice machine, coffee pot in room but no coffee, no second lock on door, and NO BREAKFAST even thou continental breakfast was advertised! It was a decent and clean room.
- Truth_B_Told907 (2/5): Horrible!!! - This has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed at! My husband, our kid and I stayed there for a month and the room was very expensive 1300 per month and the room was a complete dump! The furniture was very very old and beat up as well as the kitchen appliances. The king size bed frame was so old we had to put the mattress on the floor just to sleep. The neighborhood sucks. The room was stinky and dirty. The blankets and linens looked to be about 20 years old and the pillows were hard as rocks. This is not a place of business the owners get their money out of robbing their customers. I would never ever recommend this hotel to anyone...
- Greg (6/5): Rough on the outside but clean on the inside. - Initial reaction is that it is run down, because it's an old hotel. But when we actually opened the room door we found that it was in great shape- clean and nice.
You get what you pay for. I wasn't in the mood to pay for services I didn't need. All I needed was a nice clean room and shower for the night. I didn't need or want to pay for a splashy lobby.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Worst Dump and Worst Hotel to even spend a night - Worst Experience -Big mistake of choosing this one- I would never have thought this to be the biggest dump in a downtown vicinity. To start off the Owner is very rude - does not know the world hospitality - looks like this like more like a extended house that they are running.
Stinks very badly from the Lobby - hallway and in the room - Luckily I was able to open the window to get some fresh air throughout the night.See's kid friendly but watch out that is a pure trap to get Families to book `em. Save your money the $10 - $20 definitely makes a difference in this case.
- debbies677 (2/5): YOU WILL BE SOOOO SORRY!! - FIRST OF ALL...THIS IS AN ABSOLUTELY HONEST REVIEW. We had no Idea what we were getting into. Most of the hotels on the east side of C street on 15th are homeless shelters. We naively went through a booking agent that obviously hadn't done any thorough research with this hotel. When we got there and took a look at the room....we said fraud. The rooms looked NOTHING like the pictures online. There was pesticide powder sprinkled all around the floor. It smelled very bad. The sheets were put directly over a plastic mattress cover. We tried to get out of our four night commitment but he showed us on the print out that "All cancellations are 100 % Non-refundable". We were ready to go to what ever city authority that handled uninhabitable hotels until he agreed to let us stay only two nights. We went to Motel 8 and found much better accommodations for not much more per night. The manager doesn't have a clue on how to run a hotel. We got pictures of everything so that we can forward them to the Anchorage authorities. The microwave didn't work well. It scorched our popcorn. We expected that someone might come in and make our beds, but that didn't happen. We don't care that the people of Alaska only have four months out of the year that they can make money off of the tourists. BE PREPARED to pay almost double for everything in Alaska. On a positive note, if you get to go on the trolley tour downtown, there is one tour guide that knew some great stories and made the ride very interesting and funny. She is a retired school teacher and has lived in Anchorage her whole life. Don't miss it. All of the other restaurants, tour guides and services bent over backwards to help and make our trip enjoyable and comfortable.
- AK Traveler (2/5): How Rude!! - The hotel staff was the most disappointing part of my experience with this place. The rooms were passable, but the staff was atrocious. They have no business in the hospitality industry. As an alaskan resident and frequent visitor to Anchorage, I have stayed in a LOT of hotels and this was, by far, the worst.
- Kediton (2/5): Wish I had read reviews before making booking - Stayed there two weeks ago for a total of three nights - room was dirty - Dirt sitting on top of all room heaters - bath base was worn out - room not cleaned during two night stay - bites on my grandson's neck were probably bed bugs not mosquito as originally thought having since read other comments. No breakfast offered as advertised - no airport shuttle as advertised - booked through Expedia - called them to complain but they were only able to offer a credit towards a future booking rather than fix any of the problems. Avoid this place like the plague and shame on Expedia for listing it!
- Whitedp23 (2/5): The worst services which I have ever seen!!! - We booked the room for a month, and it was the worst in my life! My friend bed was full of bugs, that's why we had to sleep in clothes, no housekeeping (really any help, even bed clothes we had to wash by ourselves). If you ask manager for something, he will make a view that he make a great favor for you, and you will be owes him your life !
- Paul (4/5): Anchorage Suites Lodge :( - The room was nice, but had several flaws. Lightbulbs missing, no hand towels, no tissues, and service wasn't really quick. The outside of the hotel needs upkeep. Very small lobby too. Upon check in, we were told that they had a very sensitive fire alarm, and that we needed to make sure we showered with the bathroom door closed.
- bforsyth (2/5): Horrible customer service, thieves, and the place is a dump. - I booked this hotel through Orbitz. I contacted the hotel, and spoke with the Female who runs the front desk/owner a week prior to my stay. I informed her that I would only need the room for two nights instead of the three nights I had booked. She assured me that this wasn't a problem and that she would adjust the reservation. I arrived at the hotel to check in, and she had already charged my credit card as a no show for the three days. She then refused to reverse the charges, and only charge me for the two days. Do not stay at this place they are thieves, and the hotel conditions are absolutely horrible. The Asian Female and her Husband are also never at the front desk, so good luck checking in and out without waiting forever. This is the worst hotel ever! Stay away from this place.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Will be staying again - Outside and halls looked alittle rough but the room and staff were wonderful!! Will definitly stay again in the future
- smith31020 (2/5): BED BUGS! Worst place i have ever stayed. - I booked a month at this place trying to save a couple of bucks, worst mistake of my life. it didn't look al that bad at first glance, but don't be fooled this place is the worst. I woke up one morning about a week into my stay to several bites all over my entire body. tried to go tell the guy at the front desk but there was nobody there as was the norm in that place. tried calling the hotel number and got no response. went on with my day, didn't think much of the situation and ended up sleeping there again that night as i could not get ahold of anybody from the hotel nor was anybody ever at the front desk when i was there. (i knew nothing about bedbugs at the time otherwise i would not have slept there another night) Woke up the next morning to more bites, found a bug in my bed and killed it in a napkin which i kept. nobody at the desk in the morning, went on with my day, and finally at around 2pm that day i was able to catch someone at the desk. i showed him the bud i killed and his response was "thats not a bedbug". i showed him the bites on just my arms (i had them literally all over my entire body at this point) and he told me he could bug bomb my room but i would have to leave for 2 hours. I did just that and when i got back around 5pm i walked into my room and i could barely breathe because of the chemicals he had just put in there. also, i lifted up the pillow on my bed and found a bug. kept this one alive in a ziplock and took it to the front desk. There was a woman there this time. She admitted that this was a bedbug. I was thoroughly disgusted at this point and demanded a refund for the remainder of my time there which was promptly refused. I told them that i cant sleep in my room because the chemicals were so strong that it burns when i breathe in. i asked to at least be put in a different room and she said that all the monthly rate rooms were full. I said put me in a different one and she said that this was not possible. She actually recommended to me that i go stay at a friend's house for a couple of days until the chemicals settle down. are you kidding me? if i had a friend's house to stay at i would not be here in the first place. I am not from anchorage and i do not know anyone here that is why I'm staying at this place. So in a nutshell, i had a bug problem, they turned my room into a hazardous chemical zone, and refused to move me to a different room, pay for me to stay somewhere else for a couple nights, or give me a refund for the remainder of my time there. i ended up leaving anyways without my refund. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! it is the worst place i have ever slept and the staff are the rudest most disrespectful people i have ever met. I kept my review brief but believe me, i tried everything to get a refund. i went back and forth with them for hours. They have no sense of common decency or respect for other individuals.
- FTMCRET (2/5): Not Handicap Assessable. - We booked two rooms through our travel agent. The description is misleading at best. We arrived at approximately 2:pm and asked to see the rooms...they were both on the third floor. I explained to Rebecca that I had concerns about the stairs because I am disabled. She said that she would charge me for the reservation and she did submit the charge to M/C. We did not stay at this hotel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Cheap Hotel - You usually get what you pay for.
This hotel is an example of that adage
I wouldn't stay here again
- tvonda (2/5): NEVER NEVER STAY HERE, BED BUGS GALORE! - We checked in on Friday May 28th, thought to ourselves, this place isn't too bad.... A little outdated but not to bad. Wow, we couldn't be any more wrong. The room first of all was so outdated, the beds seemed like they were 30 years old, the mini fridge seemed like the same age as the beds. The microwave was old as well and looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a long time. They don't provide any towels, soaps, or even clean sheets for that matter. Well the first night we were there was okay we got in late so we just went right to bed. The next morning when I woke up I noticed that I had some bug bites on my legs and arms... didn't think much of it since we are here in Alaska. After being there during the day i was inspecting the sheets and noticed that the sheet looked dirty. I washed them in hot water and thought okay this is just me being paranoid. Until the next morning woke up with more bites on my back, side and bottom. Places that are not exposed to mosquitos or flies. I then went to the front desk lady to tell her that I think there are bugs in the room that we are staying in and she said no, we dont have bugs. Then I showed her my bites and she tried to say mosquitos I said no, I'm from Juneau and i know these are not mosquito bites... they were in clusters. So then she offered to bug bomb our room so we would have to be gone for 4 hours. We did, and went back 4 hours later. I decided that I would vaccum the room just to be safe. We lifted the box spring off the bed frame just to find out that there were still bugs alive. Totally discusted we demanded a refund cause we were due to be staying there until June 20th. Luckly they gave us the refund and we found somewhere else much cleaner and nicer to stay. I would not recommend that anyone stay here. Just the 3 days we did stay here I counted about 37 bites all over my body.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Never stay here!!! - When i got there the front desk person was really rude and when i got to my room is it was gross. I would not suggest anyone to stay there
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good hotel and asome breakfast - Me and my wife spent 2 nights before our cruise trip. Good service and room was very clean. Continental breakfast was just baked waffle and fresh coffee and yogurt very healthy breakfast. Price and services was very reasonable. Very friendly staff. It was pleasant stay and we like to thank you staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel to recommend - We had conference in Anchorage for our tribe. Me and my wife had very plesant stay in this hotel. Atmosphere in neighberhood was safe. We really enjoyed in Anchorage. Room was nice and clean. Staff was very kind and professional. We like to recommend to our friend and other who wants to travel to Anchorage.
