Guest Reviews
- Rasika (7/5): Genuine people & Famtastic Service - Calm & Quit
- Rasika (10/5): Rajarata Hotel offers very spacious rooms, a calm and quiet atmosphere, and a lovely pool area that is perfect for relax - very comfortable and peaceful place to stay, especially for anyone visiting the Anuradhapura area. The property has a calm atmosphere, spacious surroundings, and a relaxing environment
- Vinuri (5/5): - The staff was friendly. The washroom emitted a rather foul smell all the time, the triple room triple bed was hard and the person who slept in it had a neck pain the other day. The room curtains are not blackout curtains so the light comes in very heavy to the room.
- Sara (7/5): Some of the staff didn’t have warm enthusiastic smiles that many hotels had . Needs to improve the happy vibe . - Location which was close to all the shrines and temples. The wash room had red patches on walls and grime on the bottom of shower cubicles. The mosquitos in the bathroom and room .
There was a large group of tourists/ about 50 from another country and the buffet food had catered mainly for them which was not my choice. The guests were touching the food with hands and putting them back . The restaurant manager tried to stop it but there should have been more staff near buffet tables to prevent this .It was funny they were eating while walking.
- Mithra (10/5): It’s a great 3 star hotel - Very friendly staff always helpful Value for money
- SURAJ (10/5): The hotel and its staff provided us with all that we required to a high standard. - Cleanliness, spacious room, comfortable beds, good food, very helpful friendly staff. Did not have suitable accommodation for our driver.
- Thilanka (5/5): - Staff is good Not cleaned
- Nehemiya (10/5): -
- Josef Peter (8/5): -
- Suri (5/5): - Nothing much. Only easy access from the road. Size of the room.
Gihan waiter & Sangeeth the front line manager are helpful. Food was not good. One Chef was good but not the other one.
VERY EXPENSIVE. 10% SERVICE CHARGE + 20% taxes on top of already expensive food which is not good. Buffet is expensive too as compared to other hotels in Sri Lanka.

- Dr LAKSHMAN (10/5): - Super deal overall
- Lal (8/5): Good hotel, very friendly staff. Facilities are good. - Convenient location close to most of the places. N/A
- francois (8/5): A Recommander - Notre expérience dans cet hôtel a été parfaite à tous points de vue
- Lahiru (3/5): The hotel did not live up to our expectations given its price point - I was really close to the city The rooms look outdated, and the bathrooms are old and worn down
- Piyumi (7/5): Good location and good food. But hotel need some renovations. - Good food and friendly staff. Hotel needs some renovation. So many mosquitoes in the hotel. sometimes corridors are two dark.
- James (8/5): A great base for visiting the sites in and around Anuradhapura - Very clean, well located and friendly helpful staff including reception, bar, restaurant and room cleaners.
Good facilities.
Easy to see the sacred city and handy for railway and old town.
A great base to stay in Anuradhupura. The lighting in restaurant and bar area was very bright

- pooranakumar (10/5): - Good
- Fangshuo (3/5): Poor - Very damp and humid room with extremely loud air conditioning like sleeping in a factory.
- Jayathi (7/5): Good -
- Tia (10/5): Solid choice, great pool - A solid choice in Anuradhapura that caters to tour groups, especially. Nice staff, clean and basic rooms, with nice little balconies, many of which overlook the terrific pool. Would recommend avoiding the meh dinner buffet and order off the menu instead. Well located, and staff made a great recommendation for local driver and guide.
- Rajsekar (6/5): Pleasant -
- Hiranga (5/5): Passable -
- Shinaz123 (7/5): Annual trip to madhu - Staff was friendly, polite, and treated us well I feel this property can be improved, including the rooms. Sometimes, you get a funny smell.
Loads of mosquitos were in the bathroom
- Tania (8/5): - Overall our experience was good. We had a great server named Gihan. I needed a pen to keep score on a game I was playing. The next day when I showed up he came over with a pen.i thought that was thoughtful. Our drinks and food were served quickly. I had no complaints about the staff. The only complaints is the dining room was moved upstairs as there was a function at the main dining room. The upstairs dining room is right by the rooms and the noise went on well past 11 pm. The dinners left, but the staff started getting ready for breakfast with plates clanking and chairs being moved. I would suggest the second dinning room is moved away from the rooms.
- Moganaraju (6/5): Value for money - Location and service Food was average
- Sajitha (10/5): Perfect hotel for a comfortable stay in Anuradhapura - The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Very tasty food
Perfect swimming pool to relax
Comfy good size rooms Nothing much to mention
- De (6/5): It’s a good location wise and friendly staff - The location Very small and congested and they is no chairs in the room to sit
- Vishan (10/5): - Everything is good, but there were two minor issues I would point out.
1.) Shower door didn't close completely.
2.) They only give one room key, which you need to plug in for lights to operate. So, there is a chance you can walk out and get locked out the door. When I pointed that out, they gave me a sperate card to plug in for the lights and so my door keys were always in my pocket.
One thing I should mention more than anything, staff were super friendly and very helpful!
- Donald (7/5): Good -
- Lynette (9/5): A wonderful two nights away in a fabulous location. - Restaurant was amazing - fast service. Cocktails were yummy and fabulous staff. Pool was perfect. Why do you play music at 7am? It woke us every morning as it was so loud. It could’ve been turned on later or at least much quieter.
- Puhuriya (7/5): Very good - Clean, friendly staff Need more variety in meals
- Vicknaa (2/5): Very poor - It’s pretty old buildings It’s so much needed an upgrade
- Chehan (7/5): Good -
- Rajasekeram (9/5): Superb -
- Kamal (4/5): Disappointing -
- Wendy (10/5): Great stay, quality hotel and amaing staff - Staff was very helpful, friendly and informative. Initially we had an issue with our booking dates, and we spoken with Mr Sangeeth, who went an extra mile to sort out the issue, promptly and efficiently.Mr.Anura who has wealth of knowledge about the area, guided us throughout.also the receptionists were very helpful and Mr Manoj service was top of the class.Buffet was good, fairly a good array of selection to choose from.overall a great experience, amazing staff and spacious rooms.thank you all.keep up your good work ethics!
- Rodney (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rupasinghe (4/5): Although staff was very good lunch and other services were not acceptable. - Breakfast was good. Room was acceptable. I did not use the pool. Lunch we had (an a la catre- local meal of rice and curry) was not up-to the expectation from a hotel like this. Value was far below what we paid.
WiFi was not available at certain times.
TV was not working properly.
- Bandusiri (1/5): Bad -
- Cristina (8/5): Very good - We stayed in a room with a pool view, with a terrace. It was a good room with very good value for the price that we have paid.
- Janith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martijn (5/5): Skip it - No atmosphere as you would expect from the looks from booking Looks like a former hospital
- Meenu (6/5): Pleasant - Bathroom was bit small.
- Ajantha (10/5): Excellent service. - - Staff
- Dilip (10/5): - Clean and comfortable rooms. Not having an elevator made it a little hard for older parents to get to the rooms in the second floor.
- Haris (3/5): poor value for money. - very poor dinner buffet. not enough choice. sometimes buffet food dishes empty towards end of buffet. food range limited. bar facilities limited. no lift.
- Kamani (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was good. Room little small
- Gayan (3/5): Uncomfortable stay if you are looking for a decent place with value for money - Too noisy, lot of mosquitoes, people shouting and walking on the corridor early in the morning at 4am. Mosquitoes were too many and it was so difficult. And the linens provided were too thin.
- Sithira (9/5): Superb -
- Danesha (8/5): Great location , wonderful staff - The staff went out of their way to accommodate us. They are excellent! The food is good to and the location is great It is dated and needs some work.
- Suparna (5/5): Convenient location. - Good size room , bed was comfortable. View from balcony and pool area was nice.
Staff generally friendly and helpful We stayed for one night.. the door to the balcony didn’t lock properly
There was no sealed bottled water in the room.
Dinner and breakfast buffet was very disappointing. Very limited choice , poor quality food and overpriced. Do not recommend eating at the hotel restaurant.
- Orhan (8/5): Very good - The first room they gave me was very small and no sitting area while my reservation was a large
room with seperated sitting area and pool view.. After long discussion, they gave me wider room but no seperatex sitting area...
- Udai (10/5): Exceptional - excellent curteous staff, fantastic food...
- Pornthep (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sujith (4/5): Disappointing - Quality of the food is not good.
- Ajith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Saladinq (7/5): Good hotel, friendly and supportive staff. - My reservation was for a room-only stay, even though I had anticipated it would include breakfast. Consequently, I ended up buying two meals from the hotel. The portion sizes and flavor were satisfactory, but I found the meals to be quite expensive. The cost of the room and the meals.
- Rec (5/5): Overall OK -
- Rec (5/5): Passable -
- Andrew (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sujatha (8/5): We had a very pleasant stay and hope to stay there again next time when we visit Anuradhapura. - The room was clean and it had sufficient facilities. The bed was quite nice. We were very happy to have a room next to the pool and It was a nice sight. During our brief stay, we didn't see or experience anything that we weren't happy with.
- Suranga (8/5): Wonderful stay. Love the staff and most of the facilities - Staff! Absolutely wonderful hospitality. I wish the restaurant was closed and air conditioned during those hot days. Although I understand many guests like to weave in and out towards the pool. The bar area was more comfortable to sit and eat during the stay.
- Dilum (8/5): Very good -
- Imesha (10/5): The Vacation we had in RAJARATA HOTEL - ANURADHAPURA is superb, This was my second stay there and it - The Vacation we had in RAJARATA HOTEL - ANURADHAPURA is superb, This was my second stay there and it was great again - I visited Rajarata Hotel with My Family -They loved it too. Beds were comfortable, Rooms and bathrooms were superb clean - Room Services and Reception Staff was very good - For my father's birthday i told the hotel i want to give him a surprise and they arranged it so well - WOW ... Great support. Thank you for your service so much - Must say I ordered lunch from their Alar Cart Menu and they had great varieties where food were tasty and restaurant staff was so helpful and respectful. - Aruna (8/5): Very good -
- Roshan (7/5): Good -
- Yenuki (5/5): Passable -
- Ari (7/5): Good -
- Vinz4u (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff and a comfortable hotel. Dinner and breakfast options were good. Manoj who was our waiter did a great job helping us to try different options. The bathroom was smelly and we were unable to identify what the source was. As we were there for one night we didn't care to complain about it. This was prevalent even with the window open.
- Vasantha (4/5): Disappointing -
- Kankanige (7/5): Good - location
- Deyon (6/5): Okay-ish hotel in Anuradhapura. - The members of the staff greeted us warmly and helped with the check-in process. We went straight to the room and it was pleasant and spacious. The room was downstairs and was facing towards the pool. We were delighted to have that room. During our breakfast the staff at the restaurant were swift and ready to clean the table right away when we finished and move out to get our next dish. The A/C the controller was really complicated maybe we weren't that experienced with central A/C system. The TV channels were limited as well compared to our other stays at similar level of hotels this was way below the average. During our breakfast, we didn't see a much variety of food, could have gone out for the breakfast as we did during the night and saved some money. Overall you'll feel that you are down on the deal.
- Nalaka (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wathsala (10/5): - The hotel is close to all major attractions in Anuradhapura. The staff were courteous and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Limited WiFi. Had to keep going back for new Cade. Friendly staff . Nothing is too much. Always service with a smile
- Jay (10/5): - Great place to stay in Anuradapura, Sri Lanka. Very friendly staff and the property is in good condition. Would stay again.
- Npk (10/5): - The staff was the best and made my short stay a very pleasant one. The front desk manager Akalanka was one of the best. The tuk tuk driver the hotel arranged was also very professional.
- Thusith (8/5): - Great stay with family.
- David (8/5): - Very polite reception staff. Massive SriLankan breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good customer service. Quiet place. Grate place to relax.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff were incredibly helpful in booking us a tuk-tuk and a taxi. They were very kind and approachable
- Pasan (8/5): Friendly staff with good sri Lankan food. - The staff was so friendly and willing to help all the time. During the first day two young boys were so fast with the breakfast serving but during the second day it was damn slow. But the food was so nice and the it had the real sri lankan flavor.
The room was renovated in recent time the room is in a good condition.
- michael (6/5): Lovely staff but slightly tired hotel - We booked 2 rooms for the kids and us since they did not have a triple room during our stay. The rooms were spacious and relatively clean. However the bathrooms had problems. The sink didn't work in one room so we were moved to different rooms. The sink in one of the new rooms had a similar problem but we sorted that out with hand plunging and boiling water. The staff were very nice and helpful and we felt bad asking them to sort out various problems with the remote, A/C, etc. They did sort everything out for us quite quickly. Overall a functional family-friendly hotel with a good pool, a pretty good location, nice staff and nice food. This is a mid range hotel and I would assume one of the better ones in Anuradapura.
- Josephine (6/5): Disappointing - We booked a double room with king bed and got 2 single beds.
- Garvin (6/5): Never again - Started off on a bad note. Don’t expect to get the room you booked online .We were given a room with two single beds instead of the double deluxe .The staff said to bad that’s all we have even though we booked in advance . The solution just push them together . Very poor reception and service. Breakfast was very below par . The shower head fell and cut my husbands foot . Would not recommend booking on line as you do not get what you book.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Check in swift & fast. Room is clean . Bed comfortable. I booked total four rooms for my staff . All are happy with the hotel. Will stay here again on our next trip.
