Guest Reviews
- Frank (8/5): - They had a room when we needed one and the town was gridlocked by the only road to Nanaimo being closed. It was all that was needed ion not what we would book for several nights if planned ahead. We are grateful they were there for us wen needed, and just after having some technical issues with their water supply earlier the same day.
- Blaine (6/5): - Hotel room was clean, but very dated. It had a damp wood smell.
The staff was very friendly.
- Dion (10/5): - :)
- Kathryn (6/5): - The rooms are older and ours smelled musty- likely from the carpet. The mattress was saggy but not too uncomfortable. The room was reasonably clean; it’s not easy to make an old room look really clean. We were on the ground floor so had sliding glass doors to outside which was nice. However, the area outside was very unkempt- old rickety table and old chairs as well as generally not kept up.
The motel is on the highway but was quieter than we expected.
- Nipaporn (10/5): - Good
- Gary (8/5): - Room was spacious and clean. Excellent restaurant on the premises.
- Bob (10/5): - Our room had two queen beds, nice size. Everything was great.
- Nicola (10/5): - Comfortable, clean beds, simple cooking facilities, great restaurant on site & easy journey to local places of interest.
The motel is a little older than many, but serviceable & clean.
- Brittany (10/5): - Great staff and nice clean rooms! Also a good quiet part of town! Would definitely stay again
- Ashkan (4/5): - room inside was clean and staff were helpful. But rooms are not the best location.
Rooms are located next to the campground dumpsters, outdoor smells terrible and lots of garbage mosquitoes in the room.
- Karina (8/5): - Clean room, friendly service, and a fair price. Free parking is available. The room had comfy beds, a fridge, microwave, and a coffee maker. The bathroom was clean with no mold, plus a hairdryer and plenty of towels.
Can’t say about the food since we only stayed overnight.
- Tyler (8/5): - Loved Suhmi for dinner! Was the freshest sashimi we've tasted
- Brian (8/5): - Conveniently located and good price for our trip.
- Louise (2/5): - Fridge wasn't working so our milk and other groceries went off, no cutlery, plates in the room, no kettle, shower tap was very stiff and felt like might rip off the wall, digital clock was too large and bright and kept us awake. Would be nice to have some complementary items like water, tea bags etc. carpet was gross, never been cleaned.
- Bradley (10/5): - Great rooms. Nice and clean. I will definitely be staying there again, anytime.
- Kathryn (10/5): - Cost effective accommodation. Clean. Very helpful staff. Used as a quick overnight before a kayaking trip out of Secret Beach.
- Shaun (10/5): - Great spot to stay and great restaurant
- juhee (10/5): Best Priced hotel in the area with superb service! - A very sweet gentleman welcomed us with a big smile that melted our tiredness from the late arrival 11 pm check-in. He also accommodated all of our special requests. Hotel parking lot is huge where has no problem even oversized RV. Everything in the room was so clean especially bedsheets, blanket, towel and mattress. The sweet gentleman and his wife set off us in the morning. Our family enjoyed the stay and definitely will rebook the hotel again in the future.
- Sarah (10/5): - Rooms were clean and the restaurant was great.
- Daljit (10/5): - Very well maintained. Reasonable rate
- Tom (6/5): Not fancy, but adequate. - 1 lumpy and squeaky bed in 208.Shower spout was loose. No extra toilet paper. The Japanese restaurant was excellent with Koreans cooking Japanese food!
- Dion (10/5): - Fast check in last min booking they helped so essy and helped when there is forest fire they checked us in later then usal so was so helpful for my family only thing is the tub doesnt fill and wayer jsnt as hot

- Duane (8/5): - N/a
- Dion (10/5): - Vheck in was dast but staff member wasnt friendly even when i chatted with her about resturant and town was silent coldness from her so hopefully changes for other guest
- Nadylina (10/5): - Enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and comfortable.
The restaurant was a good addition
- Lisalyn (10/5): - This hotel was old but rooms have been updated and were very clean and big. They had one pack of coffee, two would have been better. There was a Japanese restaurant with rave reviews. The staff were great, I had to work very late and they allowed me a late check out.
- Wendy (6/5): - Clean but too much noise from highway.
- Anqi (10/5): - OMG the staff is so friendly Japanese people are so welcoming
- Clinton (6/5): - This is an older motel and even though is was renovated it has a musty smell. Screen door not repaired and very difficult to open. Restaurant food is Japanese cuisine. Room was clean and bathroom clean. Towel rack hanging loosely from wall in bathroom. No bathtub mat provided and tub was very slippery. Carpet in room had 6 inch diameter burn mark. Door to room had no weather stripping and allowed traffic noise to come in. Building situated right next to highway.
- Rob (10/5): - The rooms were very clean and the staff was very friendly. Excellent Sushi restaurant attached to building. I would definitely stay here again.
- Annie (2/5): - The bathroom was not clean and had to clean it myself.
The room was rundown, sliding door to balcony was hard to open and the track was so dirty, the balcony was not welcoming.
I would no recommend and I would never stay there again.
- William (4/5): - Overall it was a good stay but ran out of toilet paper and on top of that everyday they came in to “make the beds” didn’t really make the beds just threw the blankets over unmade beds and upon leaving the room they NEVER re-locked the door behind them. Dosnt leave you a sense of security
- Shannon (10/5): - Classic motel, but great for the price compared very expensive other options.
- Paula (10/5): - Very nice property.
Comfortable and clean.
- Kevin (8/5): - Proximity to town, good price, clean, good restaurant
- Dion (8/5): - Very nice stay but the guy who check us in felt like he was just walking aorund hotel whole time and wejt on till it was dark, just felt very watched and keptngetting question where we off to, so be nice for space and enjoy the hotel we checking into and nkt have someone over shoulder watching and asking questions pf my families whereabouts different then previous staff who have checked us in but all in all the sleep was nice quiet and resturant always amazing staff is fast
- Shirley (8/5): - Easily accessible, friendly, clean, great bed. Very accommodating, they let us check in before 3.
- Irena (10/5): - Recently renovated, comfortable bed and good quality bedding, clean and quiet, short distance from a supermarket.
- Kylee (10/5): - Quiet area and the interior was newly renovated
- Debbie (8/5): - Enjoyed our stay. Clean rooms, comfortable beds.
- Tammy (6/5): - This place has everything you need to rest your weary bones. Budget friendly
- ROY (10/5): Family Vaycay - Got in late just before restaurant closed ordered food and they brought it up to us.
Room was very nice and spacious and beds comfortable.
Would definitely stay again.
- Jerome (8/5): - Excellent sushi restaurant on the property!
- Elliott (10/5): - Check-in desk is shared with a very busy Sushi restaurant, so other than a bit of a wait to check in, the room was very clean and updated. Would gladly stay again.
- Dion (10/5): - Friendly staff quick check in near stores and resturant down stairs is always so good
- Dion (8/5): - Quick check in and friendly staff

- Dion (10/5): - Fast check in amd friendly staff and good restaurant
- Gary (10/5): - Older building that the rooms have been totally remodeled and very good detail given to what is needed for a comfortable stay. Very accommodating and friendly staff.
- Dion (10/5): - Staff is so kind and helpful
- Jay (8/5): May 2025 - was amazed of no phone in room to call for room service or whatever.
- Terry (10/5): - Huge bathroom! Modern clean rooms. A bit of a gem for the price. Great restaurant as well.
- Anandhi (2/5): - The moment we entered the room it has bed bugs and we traveled 2 hours from the island and it is very bad experience. We wasted gas and driving and had to return to the Nanaimo to get an another stay .. very bad has big bugs all over the. Bed
- Dianne (8/5): - We were very pleasantly surprised!! Fantastic renovations of the room. Clean, safe and beds were so comfortable. Delicious Japanese restaurant on site. Great option for Port Alberni!
- Dion (10/5): - Friendly staff at check in
This place as becime a place me and my family regularly stay now and we love the staff and motel for sure
- Doris (8/5): - Easy access to eat and feel safe
- Martin (8/5): - Although in the centre of the south of Vancouver island, Port Alberni really is a port. Vancouver Island is big, beautiful and quite remote, especially given that it's so close to the city of Vancouver.
The property is a fairly typical motel, clean and comfortable and designed for a car user. Which is just as well as while I did see some bus stops in town, i can't imagine how you would get there by public transport.
- Danial (10/5): - Good
- Bradley (8/5): - Very well kept and quiet area. Only gripe is the water pressure for the bathtub was pretty weak. Very much enjoyed our stay though! First time stay but wont be the last!
- Wendy (10/5): - Excellent for a budget property. Great value.
- Dion (10/5): - Very friendsly staff at check in
- Awilda (10/5): - .
- Jan (8/5): - Clean and cheap, can’t go wrong for $100 a night.
- Awilda (10/5): - Very clean y quiet.
- Stephanie (8/5): - mo bathroom fan
- Wendy (10/5): - For a budget motel, this was excellent value. The room had fresh paint, newer carpet, fresh linens and bedding, a well renovated bathroom, and a new large screen tv. It was very quiet as I had no neighbours beside or above. There is a Japanese restaurant on site that gets rave reviews from locals and serves breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.
- Dion (8/5): - Great check in quick and easy and friendly
- Coy (10/5): - Great place to spend a night if you’re on a budget. Also an amazing Japanese restaurant on property as well!
- Cory (6/5): - For the age of the building it was in good shape and clean over allim happy, unfortunately the shower did not get hot enough and the hot water didnt last long could be the faucet or the heat. As the facet was difficult to turn. I will stay there again
- Jim (6/5): - bed was uncomfortable for me, but for the price can't really complain
- Dion (6/5): - We checked in some empry water bottles in our room and then cable didnt work as well so wasnt the best stay but convenient for my family
- Victoria (8/5): - I liked the clean, unpretentious, and safe rooms to sleep.
- Rachel (10/5): - Room service was great.
- Christine (10/5): - Updated family run place with everything needed for a short stay
- Anthony (10/5): - This property is super convenient, affordable and has an amazing sushi restaurant. Bring earplugs and it makes an amazing stay!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We like to stay here, however this time there was no cleaning done and we had to bring our garbage out, make our beds and go ask for more toilet paper and towels
- Garth (4/5): - Run down
- Rilla (8/5): - Hotel was fine - clean and comfortable.
- Margaret (10/5): - Very friendly staff, comfortable large room with all amenities. Fantastic Japanese restaurant. A great place for an overnight.
- Graham (10/5): - The rooms were clean & recently updated
Friendly staff, Excellent Sushi restaurant on the property & a very reasonable room rate.
- Victoria (8/5): - i liked the contactless and keyless entry. Clean, simple, and quiet place to sleep.
- Cheryl (4/5): - The motel had no staff available until restaurant opened up but that did not guarantee someone knew how to check you in when website says 3 pm check in. No access to towels, extra pillows or blankets. One package of coffee first night, nothing after that, stayed 3 night. Building is old but room was clean upon arrival. Owner was away in Korea for 6 months. Just a strange operation of a business. Stayed last weekend of September. Restaurant was excellent if you like Sushi /Japanese, highly recommend food.
- Owen (8/5): - Will stay again
- Catherine (8/5): - The property did not look great on the outside however the inside looked pretty good. Patio doors could have been cleaner and easier to open. The TV was loud and couldn’t be adjusted.
- XXX (6/5): - If you are not driving then it is a little difficult to find food etc.. I paid a little higher fees compared to others who have paid significantly less. So bargain hard..
- David (10/5): - I was very happy with my room. Very clean nice bed and nice pillows. Friendly staff.
- John (10/5): - Nice place
- Angus (8/5): - It was nice a bit
- Michael (8/5): - Motel was convenient to drive to.
- kathleen (10/5): - Was. Lean and quite
- Hailey (10/5): - Great place to stay. Always enjoy Timberlodge sushi and inn.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This was a good inexpensive spot for an overnight stay in Port Alberni. It is a distance out of town. I’m sorry that I didn’t get a chance to try the restaurant which looked enticing.
Staff was friendly and efficient.
Bathroom had lots of hot water. There is just a bit of mustiness in the room. Beds comfortable.
- Angela (8/5): - N/a
- Bonna (10/5): - Excellent place
- Karen (8/5): - This place was sufficient; quite a distance from the downtown area; not really walkable to that area. I asked for an extra pillow and the owner stayed up especially to honor my request - that impressed me. We slept well. Nothing fancy, but would stay again.
- Bob (6/5): - THe beds were comfortable, the sheets and comforter were clean and like new. Our biggest complaint was a smell in the room and the carpets were badly stained from previous guests. We were thinking matbe from fidh guts on the bottoms of their boots.
- Cindy (8/5): - Great convenience, renovated rooms. Easy checkin and out.
