Guest Reviews
- Suzanne (4/5): - Noise from the hallway and adjacent rooms is very audible
- Riley (10/5): - Very appropriate conditions for the cost. Easy access as it's in the college dorms. Beds were a little uncomfy, but that's to be expected with the cost. No complaints.
- Guihua (6/5): - it was noisy
- Mylene (4/5): - Bed was so uncomfortable
And pillow too
I didn’t sleep all night
Really meant for young people who can sleep anywhere.
I’m too old for this type . Felt like a youth hostel because it’s in a school residence / dorm.
- Doug (8/5): - It was good nothing fancy. Nice quiet place to sleep for the night.
- Colleen (10/5): - The property provided everything required for our travels to Kingston. I would highly recommend. No fluff and stuff, just good clean accommodations. Staff were friendly and accommodating, they provided direction and were resourceful. Thank you.
- Raj Kumar (8/5): - I would have given 5 stars if the check-in experience had been better. The staff member handling the process (a young man) was continuously engaged in a personal conversation with a friend and seemed more focused on that than on assisting us. He hardly looked at us during the interaction, which came across as inattentive, unprofessional, and quite rude—though I suspect he may not have even realized how inappropriate it was.
- Bradley (8/5): - No air conditioning. Seemed old and well worn
- Ann (10/5): - Honestly, it was absolutely terrific. Rooms were spotless. The whole place was terrific and I wanted to be 19 years old again so I could come back and go to college here.
- Craig (10/5): - Perfect inexpensive way to stay in Kingston.
- Jackie (4/5): - The property is dated and in disrepair. There were holes in the wall and the bed sheets needed replacing badly. The room never got serviced despite being told it would be after 3 consecutive nights.
- Syed Abrar (10/5): - It was perfect for weeks stay. Quiet, clean and wonderful
- Hershey (6/5): - Could be improved:
Mattress is sagging leading to sore back in the morning. Blankets have minor stains.
They could provision a microwave, hot water dispenser/thermos in the bldg -- extremely useful especially during winter.
- Dale (6/5): TV Rooms on each floor should be hooked up for us - We originally booked for a 3 night stay but the Residence and Conference Centre did not have a few items I find essential. I have stayed at 3 other Residence & conference Centers in Ontario and Quebec and they offered TV in the rooms, Ice, and a microwave which I did not get at this Residence and Conference Centre. I would suggest that the TV room be hooked up on each floor with a HDMI cable to easier accommodate streaming since there are no tv's in the room. A Coffee/Tea would also be nice to see in the room, nothing fancy but at least a small coffee station. I was able to borrow a kettle from the main office. Also a microwave on each floor maybe in the Tv Room would have been greatly appreciated since there is note one in the room. The size of the fridge in the room was great. The problem however was there were no ice trays in the fridge and no ice machines in the facility. At a minimum add ice trays in the refrigerator. This facility was the most basic place I have stayed. Very clean and nice, the value for money would be excellent if the items i mentioned were available. We only stayed the one night instead of 3 nights
- dave (8/5): - Everything was great...close to all entertainment
- Donna (10/5): - Price is right
- Janis (10/5): - Good size fridge. Because this is usually a dorm, beds are well separated and there are 2 full size desks, making this an ideal option for sharing room with colleagues and friends who need their own space.
- Leo Tom (8/5): - A clean room with an affordable rate
- Karl (8/5): - Nice quiet spot with basic amenities. No breakfast included as it is not a hotel. Shampoo was provided but no conditioner. Pillows were truly awful plastic things. Beds were comfortable. The only chairs were the hard plastic desk chairs. Not much around the campus to do and nowhere to eat within walking distance. Parking is not included in the price. I asked reception to print me a detailed itemized receipt for expensing purposes, but only the manager could do that and she was only available at certain times that didn't work for me, so I will have to email to request one if my work requires one. Overall a fine experience but a more appropriate price would be $50-75/night.
- Jan (10/5): - Affordable, spacious. I will come back
- Suzanne (6/5): - The lower cost and proximity to where we need to be is great. So are the towels. I do not like the sheets or pillows. The mattresses are fine but not fabulous. It can be noisy, especially if it is busy - the rooms are not sound proof at all. Usually the individual climate control fan mutes the quieter noises. There is no cleaning while you stay there, but they will give you more towels or garbage bags. The cleaning staff are fabulous - friendly and helpful. There are some friendly and helpful front desk staff.
- Catherine (10/5): - We were pleased with the excellent value for the price. The staff were friendly, great location, rooms were clean with comfortable beds.
We would definitely stay there again.
- Minh Phuong (6/5): - Like: Super Friendly check-out young guy. Cheap price.
Dislike: My room *02 is next to a service room which is super noisy at night. I requested to change room but they said none available.
So avoid 102, 202, 302, 402 rooms.
- Nathalie (6/5): Loud room. - There was a mechanical system above my room that would kick in and out at night and throughout the night that was loud and unpleasant, and kept waking me. Loud enough that I was able to record it and had the staff listen to it when I checked. I pity the student you will get that room. Otherwise very clean and comfortable room and very central.
- Glady (4/5): - Room was ok but I feel like it should not be promoted as an alternative hotel stay. Confusing entrance, I feel not safe and it’s a bit scary around the area with some of the student roaming around.
- Chris (8/5): - This was the quietest place I have ever stayed. Slept great. Was in town working for the railroad and the dorm was a great price, clean and quiet. Would stay here again.
- Monark (10/5): - Was very good for the price. The property was made to feel like it was a hotel. Its perfect if you are travelling alone or with friends. The separate beds provide extra privacy if needed. The check in staff was bit rude but the check out staff was amazing! No complaints for the property whatsoever
- Dennis (8/5): - Good price and location. The beds are comfortable enough, just very high. Pillows are awful.
- Anil (4/5): - No microwave in room , small standing shower, do not expect welcome like hotels, not bad .
- Eric (8/5): - It is a university residence and staying there would help subsidize their costs. Close to Kingston and Lake Ontario
- Wayne (8/5): - Low price. Not far from downtown. Had to pay separately for 24hr parking, which included in/out. Acceptable for overnight stay during travel through Kingston.
- Donna (10/5): - It was close to the Isabel bader hall, and the price was excellent. Although it seemed busy (parking lot very full), it was very quiet. I recommend staying here.
- SHEKHAR (2/5): - Really bad washroom was dirty no microwave
- William (6/5): - AC was on and off. Not good with the recent hot weather. Very uncomfortable and humid in room without AC.
- william (10/5): Microwave - You really need to have at least one microwave in the building . It is a student residence so the kids will also be able to use it during the school year. had to walk rightr across the campus to get access to one .
- chris (10/5): - Im reading reviews and wondering what ppl expect out of STUDENT dorms, not notorious for luxury...they were clean had lots of TP, soap and towels. Sure the shower was 'dorm' quality and no tv or radio but who uses hotel tvs anyway, we all have our own devices. The location was great and staff as friendly as they needed to be. I wasnt trying to make friends. Was perfect for us.
- Dennis (8/5): Basic, budget friendly, accommodations - We’ve stayed here before, so knew what to expect. Checkin was easy. Basic accommodations, single bed separated by a bathroom with shower only. Bed is ok, linen is ok. Pillow provided is flat - another one would have been nice. Fridge in the room, counter but no microwave, coffee maker etc (which was fine). Laundry and vending machines were available.
- Eric (8/5): Good practical value - Well managed practical stay. Clean and convenient. A little out of the way without a car. And it is a dorm. But a good value in a city with high hotel rates.
- Alan (10/5): - Great!
- Susan (10/5): - Perfect for economy minded person
- Suzanne (6/5): - It was not the easiest or most lovely stay. The price was good. The towels and toilet paper good. Staff did their best and were very friendly.
- Graeme (8/5): - Nice spot. Suited all our needs.
- Michael (10/5): St. Lawrence College Residences - The residence was convenient, well priced and not too bad if you aren't a 5* person. We had 4 adults in 2 double rooms which was perfect. Wish they had a coffee maker and iron but there is a cafeteria in the next building.
- Emma (8/5): - Great value.
- Maddison (8/5): - This property has single beds (it's a dorm), which are separated. Good to keep in mind if you're staying with a partner.. For a short and affordable stay, it's convenient. At check in, the staff wouldn't honour the price I was quoted on Expedia, and was not very forthcoming with helpful information. But once Expedia contacted the manager, I was politely refunded the difference upon check-out.
- Hélène (10/5): - Le prix est très abordable. Bien situé par rapport au lieu de à l'activité à laquelle je participais.
- Ricardo (8/5): - It is a dorm converted to a hotel during the summer. It is a very clever idea. The price is fair and the palce was clean. I think it needs a TV in every room.
- Win Myint (6/5): - Price is not different from hotel stay. Rather stay at cheap hotel
- Tarek (10/5): - Good price
- Denis (8/5): - A
- Myriam (10/5): - Good price for a room
- GUANGRONG (6/5): - Convenient, good comparing with the price.
- Francois (8/5): - University dorm room so very convenient to crash for the night. Do not expect the same amenities as a regular hotel but the price makes up for it.
Quiet during the summer as the residence is mainly empty. Good room on a budget
- Richard (10/5): - Very nice but no TV.
- donald (10/5): - clean and safe
- Mestadit (10/5): - Not bad at all for the price I pay for one night in summer. If you are not a picky person, and just needs a place to stay this place it is!
- Julien (8/5): - Overall, great place to stay. Rooms have counter with faucet, washroom with shower, and air conditioning. Minor issues: room has only one light, so it's best to bring your own lamp, and each bed has only one thin blanket, so bring extra blankets. Laundry machines work great, but require a card for which you must put a minimum of 10$. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Building appeared well maintained.
- LIANG (8/5): - It is located very well.
- Scarlett (10/5): - You get what you pay for as this is a college dorm. Washroom was stocked with toiletries. Bed wasnt as comfortable to my liking but understood that when making the booking. Close to the waterfront trails which is nice. Defonitely, a great way to help reduce costs.
- TONGBO (6/5): - Cleanness and close to the waterfront.facilities are average and the students residence.
- Kenneth (8/5): - Towels were thin
- Denis (8/5): - Staff was friendly and helpful.
Keep in mind that this is residence for college students, so these are dorm rooms. They are plain but functional. No TV. Not even a clock! No coffee maker. No hair dryer, No iron.
Can't beat the price for this no frills place to flop.
- Elaine (8/5): - It was very clean and comfortable. There was noise from fridge and air conditioner. Basic amenities as expected. However at 2 am we heard a man yelling angrily and loudly for a long time. I called the 24 hr front desk but no answer. I was close to calling 911, I did not feel safe. After about 15 minutes he quieted down. In morning the staff person said they must have briefly stepped away from the phone when I called.
- WILLIAM (10/5): - Nice place for a stop-over location. Five minute walk from Lake Ontario Park.
- Artem (10/5): - Very reasonable pricing ion Kingston
- Verified traveler (4/5): Overpriced for a dorm room - For the significant increase in price over last year ( double) it is hard to rationalize staying here again. It is clean and there is free parking and the student staff are nice. But these are very tired dorm rooms with terrible lighting, damaged paint and carpets, and towels that are so small and so thin they may be old stock from one of the local prisons. At your current price you are now competing with local motels. You need to step up your quality or revisit your pricing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Shower nozzle was awful. Staff was excellent. Room was clean and inviting.
- Damitha (4/5): - The carpet of room was smelling terrible. The receptionist at the front desk gave us some detergent powder to spread since there was no air freshener or no chance of changing our room by herself.
The beds were creaking and uncomfortable to sleep.
It doesn’t seem like the management and the room service verified the cleanliness and the condition of the room before assigning it to the guest.
It wasn’t a pleasant stay due to these problems even though the location seems good.
- Sivapiragasam (4/5): - Two single student units given as family room.
- Kim (2/5): - Bathroom was dirty. Hair in shower and dirty towel on rack. Toilet clogged with first use and when front desk was called we were handed a plunger to clear it ourselves. No service til 7 AM. Really?!?!?! No Tv. No interior door lock. And….. we were never told it was a STUDENT DORM
- Jingtian (10/5): - Acceptable location with cars
- Richard (10/5): - Just enough amenities (refrigerator in room, wifi)
polite staff and clean premises)
- Andrew (6/5): - It’s a college dorm. No more, no less.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great value for money & very convenient location!
- Richard (4/5): - Poor facility. Worn towels. No hot water maker.
- Roger (10/5): - Good option if you need a quiet place to stay and do not care for luxury. It is a dorm. The room is clean. The towels are really rough. You might want to bring your own. There is a mid size fridge in the room. Note, parking is extra 8$ per day.
- ANNE (8/5): - It was clean and effecient
- Lin (10/5): - Good
- Michelle (10/5): - Good value. Liked the lager fridge.
- Luis (10/5): - Very quiet, close to a coffee shop and comfortable.
- Victoria (6/5): - Room was average. Walls had some streaks of something like hand prints. Had to move rooms since the first room had a fridge that leaked on the floor.
- George (8/5): - Reasonable in price and comfort.
- Jennifer (8/5): - Was perfect for what we needed. We were not there for the room it was just a place for our stuff and to sleep. We brought pillows and blankets which was good cause we needed both but otherwise all was good.
- Bruce (2/5): - Power outage. No AC, No light and Ni elevator.
- Patricia (10/5): - Quiet and comfortable. Refrigerator in the room. Nice.
- Laurie (8/5): - The room was basic but clean and comfortable. Air conditioning worked well. The staff were very friendly. I would stay there again if I was in the area.
- Donna (10/5): - Near Lake Ontario Park, great value, sfe and clean. Will always stay here when I can.
- Eric Antonio (10/5): - It's a really Nice room, all the staff was very nice, all is good si far
- Karl (6/5): - It is a dorm. Nothing good or bad. It is what you pay for. Free parking on the weekend was nice.
- mark (8/5): - it would be nice to have a small coffee pot for use. they are easily cleaned between guests.
- Rebekah (6/5): - The first room we were shown wasn’t clean - there was blood on the floor. The second room was ok. It’s a bit dated but acceptable for what we paid. One microwave in the building but no other cooking facilities. Got kept awake the second night by slamming doors and told “it’s probably students who are still staying here”. Laundry is available but it’s minimum $10 for a card and a wash and dry cycle on costs $3.75 total. Overall a bit disappointing.
- Emilly (10/5): Good value for the money - It is a no-frills experience, but great value for your money considering how expensive hotels are in Kingston. The bed was very comfortable, though strangely very high from the floor. There were toiletries and clean towels, and the room is quite spacious. It is a quick taxi to downtown, or you can take a 20-minute bus ride. Probably your best option for a comfy and budget friendly overnight stay.
- Alyce (8/5): - Might not have been all I could have wanted (I.e. shower but no tub, no light over bed to read by) but it was all that I needed at an affordable price. I would definitely stay there again. Would make sure I took my sneakers so that I could have had a comfortable walk around the beautiful grounds.
- Tara (4/5): - Dirty, lights didn't work, tape all over the walls, shower didn't work, bathroom sink shot sideways.
- Avesh (10/5): - Extra charge for parking was an unexpected bummer, otherwise good!
- Kerri (8/5): - We stayed here for a couple a nights while visiting friends. The room was very clean, definitely was a dorm room. But we enjoyed having a fridge to store stuff. No TV for the kids but they survived. Everyone was very friendly and super helpful. It was a cheap and cheerful vacation.
We did wish parking was included though, would be a nice perk.
- Viviane (10/5): - Small buildings 3 stories. Large fridge, free parking on weekends, cleanliness, price.
Noisy AC, toilet paper holder; how to open.
- Allen (8/5): - |Economical/
- Elwood (6/5): - Nice location near Lake Ontario park and handy to down town
