- Håkan (10/5): -
- Fanny (10/5): A gorgeous boutique hotel with excellent service - Gorgeous boutique hotel, with incredible service and extremely kind staff. It is perfectly located in the center of town. They also have the most comfortable bed we’ve slept in and the pool feels like a hidden gem.
As a bonus, you get access to the gorgeous Leeu Estates a few minutes away and free wine tasting at the Leeu Passant Winery. I highly recommend staying there! Nothing
- Graham (10/5): Thoroughly satisfied! - It is a boutique hotel with 12 rooms. It was intimate with beautiful grounds. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My accommodation was very much to my taste. I like new experiences and do not go back to even excellent hotels. I will go back here.
- James (10/5): Fantastic service - Fantastic staff, particularly reception and the restaurant (a gentleman called Gift). We were travelling with my girlfriend’s mother and they were very attentive and kind towards her, which we really appreciated. Thank you to all of the staff for a wonderful stay.
- Melanie (9/5): -
- Michaela (9/5): Sehr schöner Aufenthalt inmitten Franschhoeks - Alle Mitarbeiter sind ausgesprochen freundlich und geben einem das Gefühl, willkommen zu sein.
- Sebastian (10/5): -
- FRANK (10/5): -
- MAGNUS (9/5): -
- Andrea (5/5): So so!! - Good in general not what you would expect at that standard of hotel Food
- Mary (10/5): A luxurious short break in a beautiful hotel. A real treat - I have never stayed anywhere like Leeu House before so this was a truly memorable experience. Everything was superb - we couldn’t fault the staff, service, accommodation, facilities etc.
I have to compliment Gift in particular - his manner and customer service is exemplary. Nothing not to like.
- nicola (10/5): -
- Owen (10/5): Relaxed vibe - Superb and relaxed service.
- Messenger-Jones (10/5): we had travelled to other areas before arriving and this was very different highlight of the trip - Breakfast was great, from the staff to the food and environment. The wine tasting is an excellent start to our trip and the wine advisor was interesting to listen to and helpful with our purchase.
the room is large , I would suggest a cafetiere in the room would be brilliant although we managed with out.
wea re already planning a return trip. I have nothing that I did not like
- Danielle (9/5): Thoroughly recommended - Staff were excellent. Marius was amazing and accommodating.
- David (10/5): -
- Robert (10/5): - An excellent hotel in the centre of Franschoek. The staff were amazing, as were the rooms.
- Nicola (9/5): wonderful boutique hotel - easily the prettiest in Franschhoek - immaculate gardens, stunning artwork, very friendly staff, great breakfasts, comfortable beds room was a little dark
- David (10/5): - Marius Gift and Ubre were stand out members of staff
Also nix mit rausgucken.
- Mark (10/5): -
- Yann (10/5): -
- Ka Wan (10/5): - The property is excellent and well maintained throughout. The staff cannot be nicer and were a joy to be around. Heated floors in the bathroom are just one of the smaller fine touches. Small but enough selection for breakfast.
- Daydream68421473348 (10/5): Wonderful experience - The place was beautiful and the service was amazing. Maurice, Sabrina, Gift, and Humble were so kind to us. 10/10 recommend and we will come back.
- andrewrewr (10/5): A peaceful and beautiful hotel on Franschoek main street - Wonderful people in a beautiful setting. We stayed at Leeu House at the end of a 2 week trip around SA and Zimbabwe and were not dissapointed. Reserved sunbeds at the pool on arrival and a glass of Cap Classique set the tone. A superb room with wine and very comfortable bed left us very relaxed and ready for the Wine Tram the next day. Franschook is special. They even provided a packed breakfast and fresh hot coffee for our early departure to the airport.
- Alexbrow (10/5): Exceptional -
- prinap2025 (10/5): Perfect stay - “Our stay at Leeu House this week was absolutely perfect. Every staff member went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, but a special mention goes to Honest, Sabrina, and Reuben for their exceptional service. Mauris was incredibly hospitable, ensuring we were well taken care of throughout our stay and assisting with any arrangements we needed. Their warmth and attention to detail truly made our experience unforgettable. Highly recommend Leeu House for an outstanding stay!”
- Gail (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marcel (10/5): Unforgettable experience! - Top service and kindness of each and every staff member! Nothing
- Happiness07636440363 (10/5): Perfect stay - Wonderful place. Location is perfect for exploring Franschoek and the rooms and facilities were beautful, but most of all the staff were fantastic. Incredibly attentitive and friendly and seemed to genuinely care about our stay. Marius made us feel particularly welcome!
- northengirl (10/5): Truly Wonderful! - We really couldn’t fault anything at this beautiful boutique hotel and the service was outstanding.
I realised on the second day of our visit that I had misplaced some jewellery and may have left it in our hotel in Cape Town. I asked Sabrina on reception if she would be able to help by calling our previous hotel to see if it had been found (feeling really doubtful). We then went out for the day. Mid afternoon we received a text message from Sabrina to say the jewellery pouch had been found and that she’d arranged for one of their local drivers to pick it up! I had my jewellery before I went to dinner that evening!!
When we left Marius who dealt with the valet parking loaded our luggage into out gleaming hire car, he’d very thoughtfully washed it that morning as it had been extremely dirty when we’d arrived direct from a safari!!
Service like this is truly exceptional!
- RCSouthern (10/5): Fantastic 3 night stay, brilliant staff - What a fantastic hotel, perfect location in Franschhoek and all the staff were amazing. It’s part of the Leeu’s Estate and has brilliant artwork, it really is a great place to stay. All the staff were fantastic but Honest, Marius, Sabrina and Bradley deserve a special mention - above and beyond service with such a cheery outlook, they are such a credit to the hotel.
- 330ellier (10/5): Beautiful few days - highly recommend - Safe to say Leeu House is one if not the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. From the minute you walk in the door, the staff are so attentive and will go above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. The breakfast was delicious and the service was great. The room was beautiful and a great size. Special mention to Honest who looked after us so well during our stay and made sure we were never without a glass of wine :) We will back back!
- Ani (10/5): An idyllic location with wonderful staff - The property is beautifully maintained, clean, especially the gardens. We were made to feel particularly welcome by the warm members of staff from reception, bar, restaurant and pool service. They were incredibly hospitable and kind with us, and thank them for our stay! The food at the restaurant is AMAZING, especially the all-day menu. The property is simply gorgeous, and an excellent location on a lovely street. Feels very safe too. These are just very minor observations: the doors and some floor/wall patches in room could be more well-kept, the door locking system is a bit old, but I am sure it can be addressed during refurbishments.
- GHSTravelHighlights (10/5): 11/10 - A wonderful, luxurious, peaceful experience - We enjoyed 4 nights at Leeu House & enjoyed a thoroughly wonderful experience! The setting feels like a luxurious home with excellent personable service from a very customer focused team. We would like to mention just a few who really stood out for us - nothing was too much trouble - Gift, Gaylin, Honest, Theo & Sabrina! A lovely poolside setting means you can enjoy the great weather & you are on the high street with easy access to all that Franschoek has to offer. Breakfast on the terrace was delightful every day! We were invited to visit the spa & pool at their sister property Leuu Estates & Spa on our check out day as we had a late flight & would recommend this for a massage & light lunch overlooking the vineyard. Can’t recommend this establishment enough - will definitely return!
- Bulisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wil31 (10/5): Exceptional hotel - at least 6 out of 5 - Exceptional luxury hotel made possible by a superb team.
A special call out for Marius who must be the best Porter in SA - the way he anticipated our needs in a lovely understated manner was real class.
From the crisp white linen to the sliced fruit salads at breakfast, everything was precision. Well done to you all.
- William (10/5): Impeccable stay made possible by an exceptional team. - Impeccable with a lovely relaxed feel.
All the staff are super friendly and you genuinely feel they want to make your stay special. Must make a special call out for Marius who in his very understated way anticipated our needs to perfection and was so helpful in making our stay at Leeu House special. We shall be returning soon ! Zero.
- Lucy (10/5): Wonderful in every way - Wow, where do I begin? This stunning, intimate property in the heart of Franschhoek is absolutely perfect for couples! The staff are incredibly welcoming, polite, and professional. The food and beverage, on point.
Although we had some noisy neighbors on our first night (not the hotel’s fault, so no complaints there), we slept wonderfully. The pillows are heavenly, the slippers luxuriously soft, and the attention to detail in celebrating special occasions is truly exceptional.
Thank you to the entire team – we can’t wait to return next year!

- 171naomiw (10/5): Just wonderful - We enjoyed a 2 night stay here at the end of a 2 week break. It is one of those places that the you minute you walk into you feel peace and calm. The service from start to finish was fantastic. I can’t remember everyone’s names, Honest was stand out, but everyone we came across was fantastic and genuinely interested in our stay being fabulous.
Breakfast and lunch were wonderful, drinks around the pool perfect. Room was lovely and roomy with loads of amenities and extra little special touches. The art around the property was really cool and quirky.
We loved the location and the town itself.
On a final note, our driver was late picking us up to go to the airport. The duty manager sensed my anxiety and proactively got a backup driver ready for us, who eventually we had to use. That’s the level of service you can expect. Would highly recommend.
- Ipeleng (10/5): Exceptional -
- michael (10/5): - 100% would recommend to all
- Djcsf (10/5): Jewel hotel - Amazing accommodation and exceptional service. We were made to feel right at home with highly personalized service. In particular, Honest was so friendly and thoughtful. He made it so fun for us.
He anticipated our needs and made the entire stay wonderful.
- 354TonyP (10/5): A beautiful stay - The hotel is ideally situated for Franschhoek with shops and restaurants in a close proximity .
Haven driven from Hermanus, the hotel is not obvious but a very nice man called Morris greeted me and pointed to a good spot for my car. He introduced himself and guided me to reception.
Throughout our stay Morris always seemed to be there to lend a hand.
My room 9 was super , quiet and nicely furnished.
The pool area is delightful , quiet , immaculate and well served.
Breakfast was delightful. There are many places to stay and visit close by , but I will return here for the quality attention and beautiful facility
- David (10/5): - Truly amazing hotel! Great property, friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms with perfect decor. Will be back!
- EllaJones0611 (10/5): Phenomenal stay - Possibly the best place we’ve ever stayed. The room, though very luxurious, wasn’t the biggest we’ve ever had, but the hotel itself and the staff are all phenomenal. We arrived late, literally 2 minutes before we had a dinner reservation around the corner. The hotel expedited our check in, and called the restaurant to hold our table. After we freshened up the security even walked us to the restaurant! The staff all went above and beyond at every opportunity.
The breakfast was delicious, the pool beautiful. The location is spot on for exploring Franschhoek. Would love to return and would recommend highly.
- ericabnyc11 (10/5): A great and leisurely stay! - A beautiful property centrally located in downtown area. We loved the accessibility to explore the town of Franschhoek. The staff was wonderful, the breakfast and drinks were great and it was so helpful to have transportation so easily arranged by the property if we needed to get elsewhere.
The rooms are fairly large, beautiful furnishings with a light and airy feeling. The pool area was really nicely maintained and beautiful - we enjoyed a nice afternoon nap out by it. We were really pleased with our stay and would highly recommend this property.
- 35lizzym (10/5): Come for the views, stay for Gift’s coffees! - Leeu House is a special boutique tucked on the main strip of Franschhoek. While the rooms are rather small and on the dark side, the linens are luscious, the service is stellar, the food is concise and delicious, and the outdoor space is gorgeous. Make sure to get a cortado from Gift! He made the best coffee and foam art we had while in South Africa.
- Yachen (3/5): Poor - We stayed there for 2 nights. The water heater was broken when I tried to take a bath on day 1. It took almost 1hr for the hotel staff to check on the problem and came back saying they would need another 1.5hrs to recover. I asked to swap a room but they offered me a downgrade room without bath tub at first. After communications back and forth, it took another hour for the hotel staff to get another room with bath tub for us. The whole process took me almost 2.5hrs to swap to a room with hot water. I don't think this is the right facilities or the hospitality that a hotel like Leeu House should provide.
- Dave (10/5): If you want to stay in Franschhoek, This is by the best to stay at. - The Location was fantastic, Staff very helpful, Lovely rooms and facilities. The food was fantastic.
- joerU6639AX (10/5): Amazing Service - Beautiful hotel in beautiful city with great wine and food. Even more amazing service at the hotel highlighted by Gift Gurure, our server and overall 'make this the best stay you've ever had' ambassador. From food and drinks at the pool, to early breakfast, to late cocktails, Gif was always there for us. We couldn't figure out when he sleeps, but we're indebted to his amazing service!
- Amy (10/5): - A fabulous place. The service is impeccable, the property immaculate and the rooms are luxurious. We loved the staff - nothing is too much for them. The breakfast in the morning is delicious, made to order. A short walk to restaurants, shops and the wine train (a must). Cannot say enough good things about this place! Pictures don’t do it justice. Nestled in the mountains with beautiful views abound.
- EvaW541 (10/5): Calm and peaceful, place to recharge - This very cosy hotel has 14 rooms. Its location is excellent: right in the middle of the town of Franschhoek, surrounded by art galleries, shops, fine restaurants and cafes. The staff are amiable and efficient, room is clean with a lovely garden. The breakfast is excellent and has a view of the mountain.
- araf (10/5): Stunning Service Standards - Two nights in Franschhoek at this lovely boutique hotel.Greeted by Roger and well served by Honest.
Lovely room 9 and as out of season we were transported to Leeu Estates for dinner which was excellent.
Breakfast at Leeu House was tip top and staff service standards were beyond reproach. To have staff stand up from their desk and remain standing when you approach with a question is from a bygone age but it certainly makes the guest feel special.
Would revisit in a heartbeat.
- MisterKenn (2/5): Rude and Nasty - As one who comes every 2 years to the Cape Town area, and currently staying at Delaire Graff in Stellenbosch, we came to Frranschoek to walk around. As we were walking, we saw the bronzes of Ghandi and Mandela in front of the hotel. We opened the gate to get a picture, but to also inquire about seeing the hotel as a possibility for a future stay. We were rudely approached and told it was for residents only, and we couldn’t come in.
While Mr Singh doesn’t need my money, there is no way he will ever have a chance to get any of it in the future.
When I was in business before retirement, we thought our sales people to treat any potential customer, no matter how they looked or dressed, as if they had a million dollars of cash in their pockets. Many unsuspected sales were made because the potential customer was treated like we were when we walked thru the gate by others.
- Goose31 (10/5): Franschoek for two days - Leeu house ticks all the boxes.
You can see the owner/managers obsession with form and cleanliness.
The gardens are pristine, the facilities well maintained and the rooms are spotless.
I love attention to detail and this place is a perfect example of how a boutique hotel should be run.
The staff are friendly and welcoming and the breakfast is simple but tasty and sufficient.
The bigger Leeu Estate up the road is bigger because it’s on a wine estate but Leeu House is perfect if you are staying in Franschoek for two days and want to be close to the town. Walking distance to everything.
Highly recommended.
- Brigid (9/5): We loved Leeu House, and felt spoiled by the efficient, very friendly staff. - It was beautiful and serene with lovely rooms, friendly, efficient staff and great food. The central location is also a big plus.
- Stuart (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): Excellent - Everything Nothing
- Verified traveler (10/5): One of the best luxury hotels I’ve ever stayed in - We fell in love with Leeu House. The staff were so friendly and so helpful - preempting our needs before we even asked. Going above and beyond to help us with reservations (including a last minute request to help us find somewhere to watch the sunset!). The grounds are absolutely beautiful, as are the rooms. Feels like a little sanctuary but still walking distance from all the best restaurants, galleries and the wine tram. Highly highly recommend. Only thing is we wish the pool was heated!
- Yolla (7/5): Good - Humidity smell in the bathroom
- Steven (7/5): The best part was the meal at La Petite Colombe on Leeu Estate. That was world class. - Situation in Town The restaurant facilities on site were meager
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rosanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cathy (10/5): Exceptional hotel - Fabulous hotel exceptional service. Location is great right in the center of town with plenty of restaurants nearby. Very safe with lots of security. Secure parking. Amazing breakfast! Everything was fabulous @
- David (10/5): - Really nice hotel to use as a base for explore the area. Had a few small issues with the room, but nothing worth complaining about and we will be back next year for another visit.
- Louise (10/5): Such a beautiful special place right in the centre! The staff go out of their way to make sure you have the perfect stay - Everything! The location, the staff, the pool, the rooms the food, really couldn’t fault it! Some of the art pieces are a bit scary but other than that it’s perfect
- Michael (7/5): Good - Location
Gardens
Lay out
Staff
Art Breakfast was mediocre. No fresh juice! Muesli not great. Toast was not great. Fruit selection was mainly unripe.
- Michael (10/5): Outstanding stay in Franschoek - A beautiful hotel in the heart of Franschoek. The facilities were magnificant and were only bettered by the incredible staff who were warm, friendly and helpful throughout our stay. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Absolutely nothing - perfection
- Catharine (10/5): Beautiful hotel with exceptional staff - This hotel is incredible. The room we were in exceeded our expectations and the hotel itself is beautiful. The staff at the hotel were unbelievably friendly and helpful, you really felt welcomed every time you saw them. The hotel definitely went above and beyond with the daily itinerary’s on your bed each night with a weather report and confirmation of reservations for the next day. We loved this hotel so much and would recommend it to everyone. The location is fantastic and the breakfasts are delicious. Nothing. We loved it so much.

Missing it already and would definitely recommend a stay if you’re in the area .

- Melissa (10/5): Beautiful property and amazing staff. - Absolutely gorgeous property! I stayed here with a couple of friends and it was amazing. The location is perfect, you are able to walk about the town, and visit wonderful restaurants, shops and galleries. The rooms are super clean and spacious. But the staff were the highlight of the stay...they could not have been more helpful and pleasant! They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and ensure we had everything we needed to have the best visit possible. I highly recommend the Leeu House. You won't regret it!
- Tomas (10/5): Perfect honeymoon - Fantastic boutique hotel in the heart of the town
- Trishant (8/5): Great hospitality and amazing property - The staff there is extremely attentive and will take care of every need. We were looking to book the Leeu Estates but it was sold out. None the less The Leeu house did not disappoint. Service was on point and a special shout out to Roxane who made sure we made all reservations for dinner and all wine trails as soon as we got in. We were on our honeymoon and had a bottle of wine waiting for us in the room and they also organised a wine tasting at the Leeu estates on the house. The room was really clean as well. Highly recommended and Im sure to visit again when we are in the area!

- Carolyn (10/5): Fantastic - The Leeu house was an experience to remember. Extremely helpful and hospitable staff, beautiful rooms, and thoughtful touches like wine in the room, tasty breakfast (cold or hot) and a “honesty bar” in the evenings. Centrally located as well. Highly recommend!
