Guest Reviews
- Lisa (5/5): -
- Laura (2/5): yuck - The breakfast was varied, hot and delicious The owner/manager was extremely rude, the place was filthy and cheap
- Merrin (7/5): -
- Liydia (10/5): great amineties, staff and service! - perfect location, easy to catch public transport/ubers etc. and super friendly staff!! a little dirty - but nothing terrible! brown stain on one of the bedding (we had spare in our car anyway) and some dirty dishes but overall still really good!
- Huinui (10/5): Enjoyed At Ranfurly Evergreen - Our room was clean tidy and well stocked No dislikes very supportive staff
- Anuruddha (5/5): Not bad need bit of love and attention - Near to the centre Water pressure is very low
- Heimataura (5/5): - Comfortable apartment and clean Things were fine, it’s just that we didn’t have wifi during our stay but wasn’t mentioned to us when we picked up our key card. Called reception and they said to give it some time and it will come on but it never did and ended up having to use our own data
- Joanne (3/5): - Convenient location for ASB showgrounds Although toilet abd gets were clean the floors and walls were filthy.
As far as I could tell there were no smoke alarms.
A visit by the police looking for a previous occupant was very off putting along with the noise from other occupants partying until after midnight.
- Tracey (3/5): Think twice - The bed and shower No one at front door for awhile, pressed the bizzer 6 times, called the number on the door for assistance and its wrong, meant to be 9059 i let the owner knkw this. Figured out tv remote had no batteries and was wet residue inside. The noise. This should have been patrolled better.one man was yelling half the night to sports and then again in the morning in his truck with window down and we all could hear. Then there was another couple yelling at each other at 4 in the morning then continuing to argue before 7am. then screaming. Police were called. No forks to eat our dinner with, crockery was dirty, milk in fridge smelt off, could do with a sweeping of leaves away from doors - pictures were quite deceiving! Wouldn't stay again
- Feihong (1/5): Shit - Big space. Dirty bath towel. Where I go to the front desk and ask for more bath towel. They got 6 more dirty towels in the warehouse. It is just unbelievable in my whole life. I never live in a place like this. Broken windows super cold at night cuz I cannot close the windows. It is windy outside.
- Amisa (7/5): Would stay again due to location and price - Great location, friendly owner, great shower pressure and hot water Bins too close to exit needed to turn sharp in the car, tv remote was not working and no Freeview channels
- Jane (5/5): -
- Lovedeep (10/5): -
- Červenka (8/5): -
- Rachael (8/5): -
- SunilKumar (5/5): - Rooms were not as expected, the window couldn't close and was noisy at night due to wind , road users.
- Usman (5/5): A Decent place - Location Cleanliness, space
- Pearce (6/5): - Room was clean and a good size. Very close to my event. Not much in the way of TV.
- Allarna (1/5): - Nothing Room stunk was dirty worse then a jail cell never again I emailed company but no response
- Rhys (6/5): - Not very clean and dated. Pretty sure we had blood stains on the carpet and curtains
- William (8/5): Handy location with a few issues. - The property is well located centrally for the event we attended and ability to access motorway and major roads for getting to other locations. A few things including tight steep stairs to reach the first floor units. Tight parking area with narrow gaps at entry and exit for our medium sized car. The exit area is unlit, as one night I had to park on the side road. While re entering the property I almost twisted my ankle in two medium sized holes.
The unit was comfortable but fitted with limited utilities. Not sure what was with the TV it was on a strange angle. Didn’t want to move it in case it fell off the wall. Clean and Comfortable bed. No sink plug or dishwashing liquid. No access to the guest laundry, it appeared to be full of storage items.
- Armand (5/5): Its okay for the price - The photos online makes it look super clean and new. When we got there the rooms are old. Beds are okay. Cups stil had coffee rings on. Its okay for 1 night and for the price. Sheets had some hair on. Room smelled slightly. Coffee cup had rings on.
- Andrew (2/5): - Nothing No sugar for tea coffee, no cutlery at all. Not all free to view TV channels were available to view. eg TV1 TV2
- Redmond (7/5): Good budget motel. No frills. - As advertised. Good location and clean. Staff were struggling to cover reception.
- Tony (6/5): Good value for money, excellent staff. - Location and price Steep stairs to upper level.
- Gardner (7/5): Needs to be updated - Location Very run down, lots of repairs needed, beds without mattress or pillow protectors, shower very low pressure
Kitchen weirdly set up
No in room information re TV, services, close by eateries etc
- Singleton (5/5): - Location , clean Quite old, tired
- kim (6/5): It was pretty good considering the staffing issues that were made known -
- Ang Kaji (7/5): -
- Liydia (10/5): great value for money, will stay again! - comfortable and quiet
- John (7/5): -
- Tracy (7/5): It was ok - Great location for Cornwall Park events Not enough crockery and cutlery
The venue was short staffed
We weren't able to check in until 5.30pm
- Anke (7/5): -
- Kelsie (2/5): Awful experience - Mould covered ceilings, cupboard where plates and cups were kept smelt awful and made the drinking glasses smell extremely bad too and there was no dish soap to even clean anything.
Aircon leaked out water when we used it and caused flooding right next to the bed which caused a slip, we had to use the pots and pans to catch the water..
Beds uncomfortable and old.
Was not a pleasant experience especially paying $150 for 1 night
Forgot to get photos apart from the water leaking
- Fred (5/5): - Good value for money Facilities are rather dated though shower and toilet were quite new.
- Alison (7/5): Good and cheap. - Good location, cheap but not tacky. They also had a separate bedroom which was good, less snoring while I slept in livingroom, so good for two friends. Staffing shortage made connecting with them on the low side, but at least for us they were there when we arrived.
- Mudassir (3/5): Stay away! - The location The place and facilities need a serious overhaul and upgrade. The shower was broken. There was no handwash and shower gel. The staff provided a soap upon request, but we had to source our own shower gel. The facilities in the kitchen were outdated. The plates were actually saucers. Everything was for two persons even though the booking was for three persons. There was no dishwashing liquid, no spatula, ancient and mismatched cutlery, no lock in the toilet door, no hooks for hanging towels or clothes in the bathroom...and the list goes on and on. Two single beds in the living room had wheels under, so they would keep sliding while you were sleeping or sitting on them.
- Shirley (7/5): -
- David (6/5): -
- Paul (5/5): - Location was good but motel was run down.
Staff were good but reception was closed.
There were no towels in the room and no coffee, tea, sugar or milk.
Ants in kitchen as well.
- Kulwinder (10/5): Perfect location to stay near city - Best location near the city that makes it easy to travel, free Personal parking and nice clean rooms.
- George (7/5): Despite the shortcomings, good value for money and would probably stay again for an night - Facilities are fine, clean and tidy There appears to be some kind of water pressure enhancing device in each room. Unfortunately this is hideously loud each time the upstairs room runs the tap/shower to the extent that it woke up an otherwise heavy sleeper.
There is also no heating or extra blankets and the showers don’t seem to have a s trap preventing fumes from coming up, although that’s not an issue once you run some water
- Jade (8/5): - The place was quiet and the staff were very easy going.
- Ride (1/5): Our family had a deeply frightening experience at Ranfurly Evergreen Motel. After checking in during the afternoon and - Nothing Lack of help, safety, accountability
- claire (7/5): We had a good stay here. Convenient, good value and spacious room. - Excellent location, spacious room. Poorly equipt kitchen
- David (6/5): -
- Ajeet (1/5): - Not good
- Mie (10/5): -
- Morgan (5/5): Tidy but lots of items missing - The motel was in a great location for where we wanted to go. The room was tidy and having a separate room was handy since we have kids. The heat pump/air conditioning was good. This was our second time staying here. Our first stay was a few months ago and at the time we discovered there were a lot of things missing - not enough dishes or utensils but also nothing provided so we could wash the few things we did have, not enough towels, we couldn't watch the TV, iron provided but no ironing board etc. We emailed the property to politely inform them but never got a response, and unfortunately nothing was changed by the time we stayed the second time. Rooms all seem different - our first one had a bench top stove but the second one only had a microwave despite there being pots and pans for cooking. One of the kids beds also had a broken leg and would tip if you put pressure on that corner.
- Zoltán (7/5): -
- Ethan (5/5): It was fine. - Location was close to the venue as planned.
Beds were comfortable, shower was decent. Laundry was lacking no iron to tidy up shirts. Toilet had no locks nor sound proofing which is uncomfortable.
About an hour before arrival we were rung up to say that they cancelled our booking. No plan to compensate us properly. That is terrible service, but we then got recalled to let us know they found a space for us. Very questionable booking systems, would not stay here again for that reason alone.
No breakfast whatsoever.
- Phoenix (2/5): Horrible - Being only 10Mins drive from main city Shocking service. Waited 30-40 mins to be let into our room. Had to call multiple times to get through to anyone to actually come down and let us in. 1st Room No working tv no working aircon Room was very unclean. Got moved to second room to A working tv and aircon but another mess was soon to be found. Very little cleaning done here at all. Shower won’t drain previous peoples hair all stuck in drain. Shower pressure very low and doesn’t take long before it’s ankle deap. Complex is very loud and messy lots of rubbish around the place. Other residents blocking stairs and being loud in general. would not recommend to anyone to come stay here. Will not be coming back!
- Elaine Walker (3/5): -
- Aimee (10/5): Lovely staff and nice room comfy bed Thankyou - The area was close to what we needed
- satish (9/5): - Location was apt close to city and other places
- Stanley (3/5): - The aircon for the hot weather The kitchen dirty and the fridge very stinky
- KWatson (4/5): It was ok I guess - Wifi was good. Spacious rooms, comfortable bed, good Lack of supplies, stained floor and bedding
- Carolyn (1/5): Terrible motel - Central to where my family lives. Unkempt filthy grounds. Eg outside table was dirty with cigarette butt's everywhere. No reception had to ring owner for service. No daily services offered. No dishwash or cloth. No breakfast bowls. Ants in kitchen. Had to hoover our unit ourselves!. Extremely loud motorbikes coming in at 1am waking up everyone. No noise restrictions.
Honestly the worst motel I have ever stayed in. I wouldn't recommend going here to stay😬
- Lara (7/5): -
- Cassie (1/5): - Ok size room, nice smelling soap The beds were horrible and uncomfortable and the kitchen was constantly crawling with ants!!! I complained and the person I spoke to on the phone was very rude and refused to fund my final nights stay! I was not happy at all! Wish I had never booked here!
- Waimarie (1/5): -
- Bryan (3/5): - Location. Upstairs room. No staff at reception, ever! Did not clean room for 2nd day. no milk for tea.
- Brayden (6/5): -
- Tyler (1/5): Didn’t end up staying because of the probelms but was still charged $160. Ridiculous. - Absolutely nothing It seemed as it had been previously used as a homeless shelter and hadn’t been cleaned properly since. Advertised 24/7 service but we didn’t get assistance for over an hour. Staff were rude.
- Kelly (8/5): - Close to everything Water pressure not that hard. 1 bed leg was missing but moved middle leg to corner. Tv remote buttons didnt all work
- Shanan (5/5): -
- Sarah (7/5): Large rooms, good kitchen, basic but great if you're sticking to a smaller budget. - Both the lounge and bedroom were larger than we were expecting, the kitchen had a fridge with a proper good sized freezer (not just an ice box in the fridge), the heat pump worked great, large mirror with a light and dresser was great to put make up on in front of, and the wardrobe also had a full length mirror on the door, the overall location was quiet. Communicated ahead of time about staff shortages & outlined their plan for this & provided two phone numbers if we needed to make contact if reception was closed, which I appreciated. The right side of the couch could feel the springs and it was very uncomforatble. The wardrobe didn't have hangers. The plug outlets next to the couch didn't work, the lightbulb in the bedroom had blown (they were short staffed, and we didn't want to bother them & the light over the dresser drawers was enough.), light switch in the bedroom was dirty, when the other ones were clean - i'm guessing it's because its located behind the bedroom door that it gets missed?
- Damon (10/5): - Friendly staff, exceptional service. I was very satisfied with my room and stay overall.
- Jeanette (6/5): Stay was ok for the price - Good price for the location The motel really could do with some good old fashioned maintenance. I think they were under staffed and it did show. Our Unit 4 did not have breakfast plates, only one butter knife and the sink tap was loose and lawn needed mowing.
- Tautele (9/5): Would I go there again, yes, clean spacy and friendly staff. - I requested for a different room due to health issues, they provided a different room on the spot without hesitating. Staff very friendly easy to approach and communicate with. Thank you Not enough pillows provided, however I could have asked but I didn't.

- Ranganath (10/5): -
- Renita (6/5): -
- Jeremy (8/5): - Very clean and comfortable, close to several eateries
- sharm (10/5): -
- Donna (5/5): - Handy location to where I needed to be. Staff not available, hard to check in, bags of laundry left out on walkway making it difficult to get in driveway to park, beds sagging & entry door handle & scanner very loose which made me feel in secure. No hair dryer as stated in write up.
- Barry (8/5): Enjoyed - Very good pricing, value for money, friendly greeting. Nothing
- Vanessa (9/5): Excellent Value for Families on a Budget - Comfy beds clean excellent staff Everything you need.
Value if your on a budget
Will definitely book again
A++++ Location no street noise from room nice and quiet
Food shops walking distance.
Excellent Value
- Dean (1/5): Shit house - Staff were rude Staff were disrespectful
- Sherrallee (7/5): - It was comfortable and clean and very to book Nothing
- David (5/5): Adequate for a 1 night inexpensive stay. - Location Louvres as windows on a windy night
- Singh (10/5): -
- John (3/5): It was ok for the money we paid but the place needs a bit of refurbishing - Not applicable No milk
Curtain tracks unmaintained - ie come off tracks in bedroom and sitting room
Fire alarm not fitted
Insufficient towels four four people, was 3 only
Was told on the Wednesday before there was a double booking eith dot com and they couldn't accommodate us. I said to the owner this was unacceptable and it was a people fault not a system or computer fault. I stood my ground and said I was not happy and would not accept what I was bring told and regardless was going to come to the motel and see him on the day to sort it out. Subsequently he advised my booking was now ok . It was a totally strange and bad situation to go through.
- Jessica (5/5): Value for money, but won't be back. - I liked the area the motel was, the beds were comfortable The stairs were narrow and the railing moveable. The cleaner had left equipment at the bottom of the stairs making it dangerous. Didn't appear to have free TV (someone left their YouTube logged in so we just used that). The staff claimed we booked a different day until I showed confirmation.
- Steve (8/5): -
- Harman (3/5): -
- Srikanth (8/5): -
- Buckton (1/5): that is was okay but i wouldn’t stay there again - that it had a bed to sleep in there was food in the fridge that wasn’t mine there was rubbish and the room wasn’t clean
- Kelly (7/5): Good for what you pay - Price location Cleanliness
- Jess (2/5): Would never stay here again. - The location was excellent. When we arrived, there were some disheveled-looking people in the driveway pulling a car engine to pieces. They had a huge American Bulldog with them, which made us feel uneasy.
Although the reception sign said "open," there was a note on the door stating:
“We regret to inform you that due to the current challenging economic situation, we must take steps to minimize our operational costs.”
A phone number was provided. When I called, the person who answered mumbled something inaudible—I assume it was a greeting. I had to ask, “Is this the Ranfully Evergreen?” They confirmed and said they would drive down to give us our key. So we waited, surrounded by rust, overgrown weeds, and a place that looked like it should have been bulldozed. Out the back window, there was an old, rusted fridge dump yard, adding to the overall sense of neglect.
When the host finally arrived, he was unfriendly. He didn’t show us to our room or offer any information—just handed us a swipe card.
Inside the unit, we found just two towels, two forks, one spoon, and one knife—despite booking for three people.
We had booked a unit with a separate room, but it was poorly designed. Half the wall was glass, so light and noise passed through easily. It offered no privacy.
The water pressure was almost non-existent—just a dribble from the taps. I couldn’t even rinse toothpaste off my toothbrush properly.
The bed was the most uncomfortable I’ve ever slept on. It was a mismatched double mattress on a queen or king base, with no mattress protector and only a single flat sheet. The sheet kept slipping off, revealing a mattress covered in yellow, brown, and red stains. Out of sheer frustration, we ended up taking the mattress off and sleeping on the floor. The base was missing legs and had been roughly patched with misaligned scrap wood.
There were no power outlets near the bed, so I had to charge my phone across the room.
The blanket smelled mouldy.
- Sharm (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sulimoni (10/5): Really enjoyed this clean spacious room! This is a regular motel I go to when I travel to Auckland. - Very big rooms and very clean. Depending on the room, the wifi wouldnt work properly
- Nicholson (7/5): Overall very close to venue we were going to - Would of been nice to have a plate for each person staying, we used a plate from next door so our kids could have breakfast Not enough plates for those who paid to stay
- Amanda (4/5): Lesson learned. - It was close to the event we were attending I know management can’t predict who they allow to stay at the facilities on short term basis however the lack of noise control amongst a few things for the “long termers” was imminent. Sadly the fear of safety for management was more prominent than the safety of those actually paying for their stay. Not to mention a young family of girls. I did not enjoy my stay and I felt extremely unsafe for myself and my girls thanks to the neighbors in room 10. I had zero sleep and decided to vacate and travel back home on the 3 hour drive back and take the risk than stay another night. Management did however reimburse my last nights stay. They handled that part well. Just a shame the long termers have to ruin it for the people who purely just wanted a place to rest while enjoying Auckland on short term at the same time. The lack of tea/coffee facilities were up there too and clean dishes were limited for a family of 4. Overall the place wasn’t a bad stay however just lacked a bit of care and what they allow on their premises. It has potential for growth with the right mindset and support (that’s not govt funded)
- Hilditch (4/5): Disappointing - Customer service could improve, no complimentary milk available. No dishwash liquid, no tea towels. Sliding door between bedroom & bathroom wouldn't stay closed. No lounge chairs available, used outdoor seating.
Disappointing.
- Relorcasa (7/5): Good -
