Guest Reviews
- Kelly (10/5): - This is a delightfully charming hotel, with lovely old wood flooring in the halls. Be forewarned that there is no elevator if you have difficulty navigating one flight of stairs.
- Sarah (10/5): - Such a beautiful old property! Our room was huge, had 5 big windows high ceilings with a fan. One of our stays ever!
- Alyssa (10/5): - Best place to stay in Marshalltown. Rooms are clean and staff is friendly. Shared kitchen area is nice since there isn't a kitchenette area inside the room.
- Lenora (10/5): 5 star review!! - Nice size rooms with 13’ ceilings. Very friendly owners who showed us to our room and where everything was. We ate at the restaurant which had amazing food and service including the bartender. Loved the fact they had a happy hour and special menu until 6pm. We enjoyed walking around downtown after our dinner and felt very safe.
- Pamela (8/5): - This property was great! Clean and spacious. Would definitely stay here again!
- Darin (10/5): - This is THE place to stay if you are visiting Marshalltown. The location is perfect, the hotel has character, and the rooms are spacious.
- James (10/5): - Period correct elevator or dumb waiter for luggage. However staff that checked us in helped us carry and waled us to room
- Neal (10/5): - The hotel is very clean and nice room.
- Jon (10/5): What an awesome place with awesome staff! - What a charming place. Everything about the place looks like it has history. The rooms are large, very clean, with every provision you could want. The hotel includes two restaurants and a bar. The staff couldn't be nicer or more accommodating. I would highly recommend Tremont to others.
- Alan (10/5): - Clean historic large room. Excellent food in Tremont Inn restaurant! A++
- John (10/5): Delightfully Nostalgic - The Tremont Inn is a throwback to hotel glory days, and in the best possible way. The room was beautifully appointed with high ceilings and maximum comfort. The beds were comfortable, and the towels were rich and fluffy. The only negative aspect is probably the lack of an elevator, and the stairs can be a bit challenging with luggage. We enthusiastically look forward to our next visit!
- Dennis (10/5): - Very pleased. Clean, spacious room. Friendly, responsive staff.
- Bonnie (10/5): Exceptional stay from start to finish! - I was so delighted with the entire space! The halls were wide and beautiful and clean. The room was big and the bed was so comfortable. I’m not sure I could stay anywhere else in Marshalltown, after this experience. Having a small kitchen with coffee and snacks available and an additional sitting room for enjoying them, was a plus. We were there for an event, so did not eat at either restaurant this time, but from previous experience, they are wonderful!
- Gregory (10/5): - Great property
Large rooms
Easy parking
Highly recommend
- Cheryl (8/5): - I do appreciate the historical value of this hotel. The couch was uncomfortable and sinks super low. The light in the living room did not work. No parking on Main.
- Jane (10/5): - Very clean, owner on site and helpful.
- Jane (10/5): - Well maintained and very clean. Owner was on site and very helpful. Large room, well stocked. There was road construction nearby but any noise stopped early. Our only complaint was that the AC was a little loud.
- Chad (10/5): - Beautifully done
- Rodd (10/5): - The room was huge and furnished nicely. The hotel itself is very well cared for and kept updated. As long as you can get up and down the stairs, it is a great place to stay in Marshalltown. We ate at the Tremont Grille one morning and that was great as well. We will definitely stay there again when we come to town.
- Tim (10/5): - Great location, lots of options.
- Emily (10/5): - Charming hotel owned by locals. It's always a pleasure to stay there!
- Susan (8/5): - Very nice couple who own the hotel. Great location. Didn’t get to try the restaurant. It was closed the day I was there
- Eric (10/5): - The room was huge; bed was good: staff was great. Only problem was cars racing on Main St. at night.
- Cindith L (10/5): - Lovely, laid back and unique historic hotel. Owners friendly, helpful and prompt.
Will be my preferred hotel when in the area. ❤️
- Larry (10/5): - Clean updated historic property in downtown.
- John (10/5): - A beautiful historic building in the middle of downtown Marshalltown. We loved our room It was enormous! Very clean. Beds were extremely comfortable. The only issue we had in 211 was the air conditioning. Highly recommend. And will stay again!!
- Sherry (8/5): - What an awesome stay. Spacious rooms, great service. Location was great. Will definitely be back!
- Chris (10/5): - Everyone went out of their way to be helpful and nice. The on site restaurants were delicious and well priced. The property and rooms had so much character. Highly recommend!
- emil (10/5): - The owners, Jennifer and JP, along with the staff, Lexi and Monica treated us like family. Nice downtown location, and very nice having the restaurant as part of the hotel.
- Aimee (10/5): Great stay! - Quaint historic hotel. It was gorgeous. The kwner Jennifer was amazing. Ate at both restaurants, both were amazing!
- Will (10/5): - we are in our eighties and were not prepared for all the steps. Other than that it was great.
- Ellen S (10/5): Fabulous stay! - We absolutely loved the stay... Such a charming hotel with an amazing restaurant below. Delicious food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. We would have ate there both nights, however we were there for my daughter's dance comp and she fell asleep after a day of performing at 4 pm and slept right on through dinner. My parents were able to catch a bite at the Tremont grille for breakfast and said it was delicious as well. We unfortunately couldn't as it's closed on Sundays. (totally understandable as the owners need their time! :-))
Also... this is by no means against the property but definitely something to possibly expect.... the people of Marshalltown seem to LOVE their loud cars. From about 6-11 pm many enjoyed showing off the loudness cruising the main drag which was unfortunately outside our window. Regardless.. we'd still definitely stay again if our schedule ever brings us back to Marshalltown IA. If anything... we may make it back just for another stay and a dinner at the Tremont. :-)
- Allene (10/5): - Beautiful place to stay. Greeted by owner and to our surprise we had been upgraded to a king bed in a huge room. You do have to duck to enter the shower. Would be beneficial to upgrade the mattress. Very clean room and butlers pantry stocked with goodies. Restaurant was closed due to holiday but menu sounded great.
- Syed (10/5): Check In - The lady helped me checkin at 1 am because I arrived after their front office close.
- Mary (10/5): - Beautiful room, clean loved it
- DeWayne (10/5): Golfing buddies trip - My golf buddy and I enjoyed our stay at Tremont. The staff were professional and pleasant. The room was beautiful! It’s location was perfect some nice restaurant and pubs were an easy walk from the hotel. We enjoyed the hotel bar.!The only thing negative I would mention is that it does not have an elevator to get to the rooms. I will return to this hotel in the future.
- Amy (10/5): - We had a really tight schedule as we were in town for a wedding and the staff were very accommodating!
- Christopher (10/5): A wonderful surprise - The room was lovely: comfortable, spacious clean. The owners were attentive and friendly. The restaurant was excellent. I cannot recommend this highly enough and will definitely stay here again.
- Pegi (10/5): - Jen and JP are great hosts and so accommodating.
Everything was perfect!
- Eliezer M (10/5): Visiting family, felt like home - We had an absolutely delightful stay at the Inn - we were in town visiting family and not only was it close to everywhere we needed to go, but it was great to be located in the historic part of town! Rooms were beautiful, clean and spacious. We'll be coming back!!!
- Monte (10/5): - Very nice boutique hotel with large rooms, a great restaurant and breakfast place next door. Super friendly and accommodating staff.
- Roberta (10/5): Plesant Stay - Historic hotel with large rooms. Room was clean and had a comfortable bed. Bathroom water pressure was on the low side, but I've have experienced lower pressure in brand new hotels; hard to find a good blasting shower in most hotels. There is no elevator for those that may not do well climbing stairs. Check in is at the restaurant below was not an issue for us. Some reviews were complaining about dragged their lugguge through the restaurant which puzzeled me because you only check in at the restaurant and then there is a side door alongside the restaurant entrance where you actully use to enter the hotel. So I'm unsure why anyone would drag their luggage through the restaurant with them. We always check in to hotels to scope out the situation prior to bringing our luggage in. Overall a very plesant stay with friendly staff and good value for the price we paid to stay.
- David (10/5): M'town's Best Choice - We've stayed at the Tremont numerous times and it never falls short of our expectations. J.P., Jennifer and their team do a great job of making you feel welcome. The breakfast and dining options are the best in M'town. Keep up the good work!
- Carla (10/5): - Charming facility. Excellent restaurant. Operated by a very friendly and accomodating people.
- Conrad (10/5): - The Tremont is a classic, a historic hotel renovated in original style. Just 1/2 block from the the beautiful county court house and main square, its a real treat. The Tremont on Main (Restaurant) is fantastic. Stayed there while bicycling across Iowa, highlight of the trip.
- Sage (10/5): - Awesome property with large, unique, and beautiful rooms. Would highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable and convenient accommodations - Great location and very clean and very comfortable rooms. Common areas were cute too. Located walking distance to restaurants, bars, etc. so very convenient.
- Kristine (10/5): - The Tremont Inn on Main was just lovely! So clean, so quiet! It had wonderful tall ceilings, beautiful old charm! But a great bathroom with walk in shower and plenty of towels, plus a great blow dryer! Thanks for a wonderful stay!!
- David (10/5): No One Does It Better! - Tremont Inn is, hands down, the best accommodation in and around Marshalltown. My wife and I have stayed there on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. On this visit, we had to make a sudden change in plans and J.P. and Jennifer were most understanding and helpful. Thanks you two!
- Joseph (10/5): - Great alternative to big chain hotels!
- Shanon (8/5): - Very nice hotel with an amazing restaurant!
- Tom (8/5): - I found the lack of an elevator the biggest problem. The stairs were long and steep I am 80, and many people I know would not have made it to the top.
- Shanon (10/5): I highly recommend this hotel. - Wonderful spacious room and bathroom. The hotel restaurant is top notch and the personnel are super friendly.
It is not handicap accessible.
- Karina (10/5): - Feel like home
Love the bed
Super clean everywhere
I definitely will choose this hotel if I ever go to Marshalltown again
- Deb Van (8/5): - Interesting stay in a 100 year old building.
- Kristine (10/5): - Beautiful room, historic.
- Dennis (10/5): - Historic property, very quiet room and very spacious. I liked communal fridge in the break room and buying water on the honor system, the way it used to be! The owner JP and Travis were very responsive to my inquiries and focused on customer service which was very refreshing. JP even gave me a tour of the building one evening, that was cool! My only recommendation is provide some additional lighting in the room, it was a bit dark. Very pleasant and peaceful stay and the food at both restaurants was excellent!
- Jennifer (10/5): Great stay at the Tremont - This is a beautiful hotel in a historic building. The room was comfortable and well appointed. The bed was comfortable and luxurious. There were plenty of towels. The whole place is incredibly charming. I had dinner in the restaurant downstairs and everything was delicious and perfect. A very nice setting. Solid wine list. In the morning, I had an espresso in the cafe and the owner actually custom-made me a breakfast sandwich, on the house. Unbelievable service. I will be back. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone. The only tiny flaw is that they don't allow dogs.
- Kenna (10/5): - This is a very nice hotel. We used to stay at Hampton Inn in Marshalltown when visiting family. Our stay at Treemont Inn has changed that. We are now loyal customers of Treemont. From checking in. To checkout we felt welcomed and a part of the Treemont family. We will see you in January.
- David (10/5): - Enjoyed the very spacious room and the unique and inviting decor that takes you back in time.
- Lisa (8/5): - Unique place to stay.
- Todd (8/5): - Beautiful inn on Main St. Downtown Marshalltown still recovering from tornado a couple years ago. Nice art display in hallway.
- Linda (2/5): - No
- David (10/5): - I echo the other positive reviews. A truly unique historic hotel in Marshalltown, impeccably appointed and maintained, friendly and helpful staff, nothing else like it, we will be back!
- Rachel (10/5): Lovely stay - Beautiful room with wonderful amenities. Will always book here to stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice property. Very clean and welcoming. Easy access to downtown
- Christine (10/5): Very Pleased - I will definitely stay here again! The room was amazing! It was clean and the bed was very comfortable. I loved the large hallway and paintings hanging in it. It was almost like being in a B&B, just without the breakfast.
