Guest Reviews
- Sarah (8/5): Slightly disappointing, looks better on the outside - Pleasant location just off a main road, not far from shops/ petrol station and not far from motorway links Single room very tiny, (as advertised) wouldn't like to stay more than 1 or 2 nights, sink in room tiny yet bathroom big and had no sink ( or toilet roll holder) Shower had little pressure so wasn't worth repeating on morning 2.
The pillows old and flat and could do with replacing.
- Lucy (10/5): - Staff were really nice and helpful
- Andrew (7/5): - Faded charm
- Patricia (2/5): Bareable - The only thing that was good it was not far from town by taxi There was only one mirror in bath room , none in the room as I was going to a wedding and needed to was and dry my hair . It needs a power point near a long mirror . The bath room had no wear to put things only on the floor , no wear to hang towels or clothes . The walls were dusty and needed a clean , unless it had just been re tiled . Never no one on reception.
- Hans-Peter (9/5): -
- Sandra (6/5): - We had a pleasant stay despite the hotel being in a poor rundown state, our room was fine, it was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was made to order and hot!
The one member of staff we saw the day before mowing the grass, checked us in AND served us at breakfast needs praising. He was polite and attentive.
- sura (10/5): -
- Russell (7/5): Lovely stay - Friendly staff, excellent breakfast, clean comfortable room Hotel would benefit with a little updating, showing signs of tiredness, but still good value
- Daniel (8/5): -
- Elizabeth (8/5): - . .
- James (10/5): - Another great stay here again the staff are so friendly and helpful and the rooms are ideal for people working in the area as they have a decent sized fridge and a microwave and kettle, will be stopping again .
- James (10/5): - Parking is secure
- Maureen (8/5): - It's not too bad for the money, reasonable price and near enough to the airport.
The room was clean and beds comfy. The reception was nice and quaint, and the receptionist was very welcoming, but the hallways could do with a little tlc
- marian (8/5): - Helpfulness of chap on reception. Nothing to dislike.
- ameen (3/5): - Leaving The standard of hotel , poor
- George (10/5): Brilliant service served by lovely staff. - Beautiful building with a heat garden view. Staff were extremely polite and informative. Minimal noise pollution makes for a peaceful calming atmosphere. Will most definitely be staying again. Not much to say in terms of downsides.
- Martyna (8/5): - Our stay was pleasant. The room was comfortable and clean, with a fridge and bits to make tea and coffee. The staff were friendly and helpful. Check in and check out was easy.
- Paul (5/5): It was suitable for our needs but I don't think we'll stay again - The chap that greeted us on reception was pleasant and very helpful The room was clean but very tired looking with damaged and mismatched furniture which made it look old fashioned . It was missing little things like a bin in the bathroom . We only stayed for one night and left very early for the airport
- IRENE (10/5): -
- Annwen (2/5): - It’s a dose house no amenities
- Alison (9/5): -
- Pavel (2/5): - This hotel looks like was refurbished 30 - 40 years ago
- Victoria (10/5): - Excellent trip all in all, friendly staff, safe car park. Room was real clean.
- Maxine (4/5): - The bath plug hole had hairs wrapped round it.
The hotel smelt fusty.
Very dated. Beautiful building.
- Manjith (10/5): - Good Hospitality service
- Hoar (1/5): - Nothing, in fact, we did not stay at the property When we entered the carpark, we were met by a crumbling building, nothing as the pictures depicted. The carpark was full of large craters filled with water.
We were treated by a nice gentleman at the reception. The reception looked grand but had a very strong smell of damp. Once booking confirmation was gained, we were taken to a building behind the main hotel. On entering the premises, there was a very strong smell of air freshener to cover the smell of damp.
On entering the room, it became clear the rooms had also been overated in the photos and depiction. The room was damp, filthy, and run down. Furniture was chipped, the one chair in the room was stained, had a hole and slit in the seat, and was covered with grass and mud.
The bathroom was mouldy, and the shower door did not shut properly.
The towels were dirty and off colour. On further inspection of the bedding, we removed the outer covers of the bedding to find a yellow stained quilt and pillows. The carpets were dirty and stained with mould visible between the carpets and skirting boards.
The whole property was in extremely poor repair, and as far as I was concerned, it should not have been advertised as it was.
We immediately spoke with the manager, identifying our concerns. He offered new bedding, and to change the chair, we refused this solution. He also offered us another room in the main hotel. However, it was up a steep winding staircase, and my partner has mobility issues. The main hotel also smelt strongly of damp.
When I asked the manager about our money back, as we had to find and pay for an alternative accommodation, he informed us that we would have to contact booking.com. I requested a complaints form, which he advised they didn't have, I then requested he jot down our conversation and complaint on a sheet of paper, so we had evidence of our complaints, he refused to do so.

- Tim (4/5): One night stay was ok for us. Suppose we get what we pay for. - Our room was in an annex at the back of the hotel which didn't look very appetising from the outside and we wondered how safe it was. The room was fine with a mini fridge and tea and coffee for morning. We only stayed 1 night on the way to airport. Didn't eat here so can't comment. Went to local bars down the road. Staff were helpful . Being put in the annex at the back, Thought we would be in the hotel when booked.
- Paul (9/5): - As advertised. Clean, convenient, comfortable. Good breakfast easy parking. Can't think of anything.
- Amar (8/5): - Friendly staff. Decor and fixtures are dated however generally had a comfortable stay.
- james (10/5): Great place to stay and will be stopping again - Room was a good size, clean and has everything even a microwave and fridge ,car park is good sized and free parking ideal if working in the area Nothing
- michael (1/5): - When i arrived I was given my key to the room and stayed briefly as I was rushing to a concert.
Later that night, when I had time to take in the nature of the room, I soon realised I was given a smaller and less comfortable room!
I expressed my concern to a worker and asked for a refund - the £ difference between the room I had payed for and the room I was given. He was unfortunately of no help and provided no compensation or guidance.
Once I got home I made a formal complaint through booking.com and still not replied for the initial response! I would highly discourage anyone from staying here.
- James (10/5): Great place to stay ideal for airport. - Lovely hotel ideal for the airport ,rooms are good sized and come well equipped with even a fridge and microwave for long stays and the staff are really friendly,a good size car park with free parking already booked again for this week .
- John (5/5): Clean, but very dated - Clean and comfortable Quite rundown, gardens all overgrown.
- Mike (1/5): -
- Wai Ping (2/5): - They should provide hair dryer and a hook for clothes in the toilet
- PAUL (6/5): - The soap dispenser was impossible to use without using two hands. Soap dropped to the sink.
- Adeola (6/5): - It was pretty average
- Olarewaju (7/5): -
- Birger (3/5): - Frokosten meget bra. Ansatte veldig hyggelig.
- Daniel (5/5): -
- julie (10/5): - Jackie was lovely
And Amir very helpful It was just a perfect rest before our flight
And great value
- Jucy (3/5): -
- Stephen (6/5): -
- Robert (5/5): Adequate for what I had to do. - The stay was only for me for 2 nights. I would not consider the general standard adequate for a longer stay. The single room was very small. The wash vasin should have been plumbed into the bathroom not the bedroom.
- LINDSEY (8/5): Hotel ok but very dated - The hotel was not too far out for where we needed to be. The room was large and very spacious and the bed was comfy. It was very dated and run down
- David (5/5): Disappointing. - Not much, but it did make us laugh, reminiscing Fawlty Towers. We had two rooms, the carpets were wet across the whole floor in both rooms, curious musty smells, doors didn’t work properly, nowhere to hang things in bathrooms, and noisy all night
- Nina (6/5): - It was good for what I needed it for which was a oit stop for our early flight from Manchester Airport.
It was also cheap so i cannot complain too much. Parking was free. Staff was plesant bjt room and building is old and not clean enough. Don't know if i will stay here again but it wasn't terrible just a bit deceiving in real life
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The first room allocated to us smelled awful
- lindsay (8/5): -
- Guest (10/5): Good - Quick response nice staff clean room Smelly hallway
- Amanda (8/5): -
- Tracie (7/5): - Lovely hotel but a bit dated. Very clean and welcoming It's a bit dated and could do with a paint. It advertises a restaurant but there isn't one.
- Leigh-Ann (4/5): Cheap and offer lf free parking - Big room and parking Damp pungent smell coming from a room near entrance. Had a noisy dryer in there maybe result of a leak or flood
- Gregory (7/5): -
- AMITABH (10/5): Classic British Manor house - The property has a character and life of its own . A manor house with its tasteful historical design unlike tasteless modern buildings of steel and glass . Plenty of parking. Easy access. My son and self were served breakfast by the lady at the restaurant, with personal human touch . This is rare in corporate hotel chains but always present in family owned hotels Ike this . Looks a bit old and would do with a bit of a touch up
- TAHSEEN (8/5): -
- Haydar (8/5): - Nice and clean
- Claire (7/5): Adequate for 1 night - Staff helpful gave an upgrade-#108 and also showed some other room types.
Quite a large hotel plenty of rooms.
Fridge/microwave tea & coffee in the room.
Needed to stay for 1 night so was barely there. Room was dated, very different from pictures.
View was car park in front and the rubbish cart put the second window.
Was a hot night luckily I brought my fan but otherwise would have struggled.
We picked this hotel over another one, as was hoping to sit out in the garden as it looked beautiful in the pics. Now very overgrown.
- phil (4/5): - Location
Too far from tram stop
- Elizabeth (1/5): Never again. This place needs to be shut down immediately - Location and the fact there was free parking. Everything. It was old, dated, in desperate need for repair. The room smelt musty and damp. There are major sewage issues at the property. Over night our bathroom flooded raw sewage from the toilet pipe. It was disgusting.
- Theo (8/5): -
- Sheila (8/5): Comfortable stay and convenient for airport -
- Heather (8/5): Needs updating in places but lovely room and very friendly staff. - Comfortable bed.
Lovely friendly staff. Bit shabby around some communal areas.
- Susan (7/5): Comfortable enough and good price for an overnight stay. - The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Nice hot water for shower. We were welcomed efficiently and the early check in agreed was most appreciated.
- Graham (7/5): -
- Amelia (10/5): Wonderful - Atmosphere and peace Nothing i didn’t like, followed procedure
- Helen (1/5): Definitely would not recommend , the staff member was accommodating and friendly. - Nothing The 1st room we were put in absolutely stunk of cigarettes, at the back of the main house, requested a move, got put in the “VIP” room in the main house, the main house has so much potential, so sad it really needs a good renovation. Absolutely filthy and cob webs , cracks and bulges in the ceiling, stains on the walls and bedding.
- sharen (7/5): Cheap due to the general decor and upkeep - The hotel seems to be undergoing some refurbishment my room was clean and partly refurbished. Once all is completed it will be a nice place to stay . There is no lounge and parts of the hotel look tired. The outside windows all need a clean.
- Robert (8/5): - Last minute booking so not exoecting much but it was clean and comfortable Nothing
- Ian (6/5): Adequate - The staff were very friendly and helpful, it was an-ideal location for me as i was working in Sale. Needs some work on it. Quite outdated.
- Amie (10/5): - Lovely
- Amie (10/5): Love staying here -
- Amie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amie (10/5): Exceptional - Love property
- John (7/5): Worth the money - The price was great room was a bit old fashion but ok and relatively clean only really downfall was the smell coming from the toilets the sewers could do with sorting out as they were quite pungent.
Over all acceptable for the price.
- Anne (4/5): Pity, just didn’t feel safe due to security door - Property is not as you see in the pictures. Very run down Not as seen in pictures. Stains on the carpets, stains on the walls. No dress mirror. Window curtains just hanging on by treads. Security door not secure. Made us feel unsafe. Bathroom was clean and bed linen was clean.
- Yaser (1/5): -
- Lucas (4/5): Let down - The property was very worn and tired.the exterior looked abandoned ,unkept.
The room itself at a glance looked clean,at a deeper look the carpets were old and heavily stained, toilet area also dirty and damage to adjoining shelving.
The room faced to the rear of property where there was an outdoor seating area .even with the windows closed the noise from other guests drinking and smoking throughout the night.made it impossible for me to sleep!good points; the shower was small but instantly hot also ample parking
- Megan (3/5): -
- Mish (10/5): -
- Rob (1/5): - Scam and phishing emails. Did not refund.
- Federica (5/5): Non torneremo.
- Sabina (3/5): -
- Cox (2/5): Expected better. Not worth the money. Will not stay again. - Bed was comfortable Cleanliness was poor. Overall room was shabby. Carpets stained.
- Pascal (10/5): -
- Polly (1/5): The hotel was so grim I refused to actually stay on site and a currently raising a dispute for a refund. The hotel did - There was nothing I liked about the property. It was run down, in disrepair, unclean and seedy. The floors and carpets were dirty and heavily stained, the furniture was damaged and/or dirty. The windows were dirty. The photos on line are not an accurate representation of the property - the greenery and planting has been removed, the outside seating areas do not exist. There was rubbish strewn around outside the property that had clearly been there for a lengthy period of time. There was nothing I liked about the property. - Kevin J.K. (1/5): Nice staff. Terrible hotel - Hotel is so run down
- Saumya (10/5): - Room Nothing
- Phil (8/5): -
- Mohammed (5/5): -
- Julie (6/5): - was advised our staff requested not to stay here again.
- Minh Quoc (9/5): -

- Jordan (8/5): -
- Phoebe Greenwood (1/5): Poor Cleanliness - Our colleagues felt the cleanliness of the room was so poor that they had to leave and find alternative accommodation. There was bad staining to the floors and mattress. Still yet to receive any response regarding this from Booking.com or the hotel.
