There is a late fee for arrivals after 10 PM. If advance notice is provided, alternate arrangements like a lock box can be set up for guests for a CAD $10 fee. If no notice is provided and the office is closed, an administration fee of CAD $30 will be charged to reopen the office and check in the guest. Mike Barnard (9/5): Mike 🇬🇧 - The property is located perfectly for visiting the local area with an abundance of trails to suit everyone. The property has its own private trail that guests can use which is an easy amble alongside the river and through thin woodland. The proprietor was very helpful with local information on facilities in the town along with restaurants etc. If you are driving towards Cheticamp in a Southerly direction, the Cornerstone motel is the first accommodation before entering the town, look for the unmissable coloured apartments. Each room has its own parking bay right outside its door entrance. Nothing.
MaryEllen (9/5): - Quiet and comfortable room right on the Cabot Trail, just north of Chéticamp and just south of the National Park border. There was a microwave and refrigerator in the room and coffee and tea in the lobby. The owner told us which restaurants were open for dinner and breakfast.
Pleun (9/5): Echt top, super lieve motel eigenaren die met passie hun werk doen. - De locatie was top, binnen minder dan 15 min sta je op de parkeerplaats van the Skyline trail. Het bed was aan de kleine kant. Wij zijn zelf niet groot, maar de breedte is kleiner dan je gewend bent.

Connie (10/5): Comfortable and convenient - The location was perfect for exploring Cape Breton. At check-in, Greg was extremely helpful and friendly with his advice on restaurants and things to see in the surrounding area. It was close to Cheticamp as well as numerous hikes in the area so it made a perfect base.
Andreas (9/5): Wunderbarer, sehr gepflegter Ort an hervorragender Lage - Sehr gepflegte und saubere Zimmer. Gute Ausstattung und alles gut unterhalten. Grosszügiger Umschwung mit gepflegten Waldwegen dem Flussufer entlang. Grosse Feuerschale im Garten für gemeinsame Nutzung. Die Heizung funktioniert gut, ist aber bei frostigen Temperaturen etwas langsam und im Hauptraum bei gezogen Gardinen etwas ineffizient.

Markus (8/5): Für einen kurzen Aufenthalt ausgezeichnet mit schöner Lage. - Haben uns bei unserem kurzen Aufenthalt wohl gefühlt. Zimmer hat alles was man braucht inkl. kleinem Kühlschrank. Sehr freundliche Mitarbeiterin beim Checkin. Mussten ein paar Spinnen entfernen. Eventuell könnte einmal in den Ecken durchgewischt werden, sonst hat aber alles gepasst.

Carla (9/5): Superb - Cute and clean motel conveniently located in between Cheticamp and the National Park - a great base to enjoy local hiking. The room was comfortable with air conditioning, a bar fridge and a full bathroom. The Cheticamp River runs beside the motel providing a refreshing place to stroll and dip your feet (or even swim!) on a hot day! The owners were very friendly and helpful.

The room was clean, comfortable, and had easy access as we were able to drive up to the door. It is a short drive to Cheticamp. The owners live just accross the street, and were very friendly and williing to share information about the area. A very pleasant stay! No complaints

Shari (8/5): Good lodging but not very welcoming. - The property is outside of town but has a lovely area for walking through the woods and along the river. The room was clean and comfortable. The owner was quite rude when we arrived a few minutes before check-in time. We were prepared to wait the 7 minutes until 3 pm and had just stepped out of the car to stretch after a long drive, but he was quite pointed in looking at his watch and asking quite scornfully, what time is it? Fortunately, his wife was more pleasant.

Pride of ownership The parking lot on the back side is crushed stone and with a new motorcycle found it nerve-racking to try to turn my bike around on. it. This may be more about me than the property but almost parked down the way at the front building that was paved rather than risk bike on gravel. In the end I was fine on gravel just scary
Martina (4/5): Disappointing last night on The Cabot Trail - Location was ok. Room was spacious. The rooms at the back of the motel faced a lovely garden.(ours didn’t) Our room faced on to the highway so sitting outside wasn’t really ok. The room had a “funky” odor that didn’t go away even after having the windows open for hours. There was no coffee maker in the room and staff advised “it was because of the electrical” But there was a microwave and fridge so that made no sense. We had to literally cross the highway(the establishment straddles the highway) to get a coffee in the morning. There was no ice machine. When we asked in the morning for ice for our cooler we were given a tiny bag and were declined when we asked for more. Extremely disappointing as this was not particularly inexpensive. We booked beginning of February for June travels and didn’t get a particularly good price. DISAPPOINTING.

Flore (8/5): Clean motel right on the Cabot trail - Perfectly located on the Cabot trail, the staff was really welcoming and helpful and the view of the river was a great touch! The water takes a really long time to heat but we were informed of that. WiFi didn’t work while we were there but for one night it’s fine we used our data.
Angie (10/5): Perfect room right outside the park! - Really lovely little motel right on the river. Cute little walking path behind the property. The owners have adding a lot of little nice touches to the place. Wish we would have stayed here longer. n/a
Sheree-Ann (10/5): - Fantastic location on the river, next to the national park, a short drive to the local bakery for breakfast goodies and restaurants for dinner. We enjoyed sitting around the fire pit and star gazing. Owners are super friendly and extremely helpful.
Charlotte (10/5): Perfect setting for visiting the National Park - A lovely place to stay overlooking the river. it's out of town but close to the National Park. A good sized room with comfy bed. A minor point but didn't like not being able to use our kettle for tea and coffee. Heating a mug in the microwave isn't the same! It was also more expensive than other places we've stayed of similar standard.
Michael (10/5): Immaculately clean rooms, and quiet surroundings. - Immaculately clean. Spacious room with the convenience of car parked outside the door. Too little charging points for our appliances.
Michael (9/5): Very cute - We had a really nice stay. The location was beautiful, the beds were comfortable, and the owner was friendly and helpful—overall, a great little spot. Offered free coffee in the office but maybe would have preferred a coffee maker in the room.

Katherine (7/5): Good location by Park entrance. It suited our need - We liked our room with the river view very much. Our friend’s room in the other section was much more basic. Friendly and helpful reception with emails in advance. Liked the hiking trails very much Coffee Mate for creamer and plastic stir sticks. Very old school. Bed firm but not very comfortable. —- Somehow when we booked in advance, it was not clear that there were 2 types of rooms. We just lucked out that a better room by the river was available.
Debra (10/5): Exceptional - The location of Cornerstone is perfect in it is located at the entrance to Cape Breton Highlands National Park. The room was clean and spacious and offered everything we needed. The property is managed by the owners who are exceptional; they were friendly and offered so many great recommendations on restaurants, bakery and sites to visit in the area. I would highly recommend this hotel. N/A

Ian (4/5): Disappointing stay - The coffee We've never encountered a list of rules which required initialing by us as acknowledgment and noted the punishment for transgressions. We were in Room 7. Bed was well past it's use by date, towels & linen poor quality. We've stayed a other motels on the Cabot Trail, which were a similar price and had great facilities.
