- Joseph (7/5): Pleasant stay - Staff were excellent. Breakfast was very good. Facilities are dated and room was small. Everything was clean but it seemed we travelled back in time 20 t0 30 years. Updating would be welcome.
- williams (9/5): Second stay, will definetly stay again if in area.Very good value, with excellent staff. - Excellent breakfast, room size good.Staff excellent Lighter duvets needed.Very warm in present temp. conditions.Shower head too high, needs a lower fitting as well.
bed reading lights need brighter bulbs.
- Elena (7/5): - Location. And the gardens I know that is an old location with History but it is too old at the moment, floors are bad and noisy, bathrooms are old and still with two different taps etc, I agree it should show old but some investment and keep in mind the history should be done.
- Philip (7/5): - Lovely house and staff were very friendly and helpful WiFi is poor, mattress was uncomfortable
- Paul (9/5): -
- Kuljit (9/5): Amazing character Manor House incredible bfast - Lovely Manor House on beautiful grounds. Very quiet surroundings and peaceful. The interior has character and rooms high ceilings with lots of natural light. Well preserved and a historic, not ‘dated’ feel. The staff were very kind and friendly, accommodating and made my birthday stay perfect. The lady serving bfast on 17/5 morning was exceptional- so smiley and kind despite being so busy! She made my morning :) the breakfast was immaculate and really loved it- amazing quality and so much variety. Loved the table service too, definitely a personal touch The mattress felt a bit uncomfortable for me !

The hotel grounds are dream like, surrounded by green and very quiet.

Regretably, they do not do dinner service, but, instead do a light Snack menu, again, the quality is very good. A more substantial offering would be welcome. Having to leave

Natalie was especially great on the Saturday night with helping to get us food and drinks, showing us to our room and checking to make sure we had everything we needed.
Loved the decor. Beautiful building. Easy parking. Excellent WiFi reception. Food was beautifully presented. Even the soup was presented on lovely crockery.
We liked that there were 3 seating areas downstairs, and we could use the breakfast room as well if we wanted to. Bar snacks were incredibly cheap, but good portions and tasty.
Loved little touches like having pears from the refectory garden out for guests to help themselves to.
Lots of storage space for clothes etc in bedroom.
Really enjoyed having a bath as well as a shower option - and we chose just a basic twin.
Bedroom was a really good size.
Very cosy and warm.
Bed was comfortable and we slept really well.
Easy parking right by building.
Well signposted.
Breakfast menu was varied and you could have everything on it. There were dietary choices, which I was delighted to see as I'm gluten intolerant. There were also daily free spreads and options to milk for vegans. Brilliant!!
We will definitely stay again and recommend the Refectory in Wem to others wanting to visit Shropshire.
The welcoming email we received on booking arrived quickly and was very detailed and helpful. And also sounded friendly.
We were sad to leave after only one night. I have to be really picky just to find little faults... some decor was a little old eg. Blind in our bathroom was faded in some areas from sun.
- Anthony (9/5): Enjoyable and relaxing - A lovely building and surroundings Nothing
- Diane (10/5): Excellent stay with helpful and friendly staff and excellent breakfast - The staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. The slight problem we had with our room was sorted quickly and helpfully, Nothing really

- Lyn (9/5): Fabulous old house. - A beautiful old building in a lovely small town. The staff were wonderful and couldn't do enough for us. Natalie and Kate were Jill's of all trades and so was the lady who cleaned the rooms. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The bed was big and comfortable too. Highly recommended. Nothing to dislike.
- Maureen (9/5): A lovely hotel. - Lovely building in convenient location. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and provide excellent service. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing - so much to choose from and delicious! Excellent value. Highly recommended. Only light snacks available in the evening. It would have been nice to be able to get a proper evening meal.
- Downes (8/5): 1 night in Wem - The staff at the Old Rectory were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. A big shout out to Kate in particular who went above and beyond. The setting is lovely, lots of grounds and a short stroll into the high street. There's a great little bar and a lovely room to sit and relax in. Breakfast was great, we chose American pancakes. They were freshly made and delicious. We stayed in the top floor, although the heating was at a lovely warm level throughout around the building, our rooms were quite cold. The heating was on but not enough to heat the room.
- Andy (10/5): -
- Guy (4/5): Lovely period property in dire need of an upgrade and an upgrade - Lovely period property in dire need of refurbishment. Lovely staff. Found long hair on the carpet in my room when I arrived, receptionist kindly vacuumed the room whilst I was out. Didnt appreciate that the restaurant only really opens for breakfast. So if you want an evening meal you have to go out or order in.
- Chris (8/5): -
- L K (10/5): - Fab selection at breakfast, very elegant rooms and public areas. Staff couldn’t be more friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.

Excellent value for money hot breakfast.
- dave (8/5): - Location to the village, easy to get to shrewsbury no evening meals available at the hotel
- Stephen (8/5): - Impressive building in wooded grounds. Excellent friendly service. Stayed in four poster suite which was disappointing, tatty old furniture and tired furnishings. Shower above bath was very difficult to use. Excellent breakfast. Would recommend this hotel but not the room we stayed in.
- Sally (8/5): Another enjoyable visit - Excellent breakfast and service. Very personable and helpful woman at reception. Fascinating house and grounds No bedside table, bathroom a little tired
- Claire (10/5): Worth the money - Building very nice and grounds well maintained. The female staff on duty was very polite, and nothing was too much trouble 10/10 Mattresses were passed there sell by date. Duvets and pillows' lumpy definitely need to be changed as the duvet was stained. Bath had large chips out the enamel by plug hole, which put us off using it.
- Andrew (9/5): -

- Louise (9/5): Country house gem in Wem! - Beautiful building in beautiful grounds.
The interior is very elegant and stylish.

- kevin (8/5): - The hotel grounds are quite nice with a nice terrace to the rear with a pleasant garden view. The hotel itself is quite striking.
Down side for us was the room had a view of an iron fire escape, and the working yard. Possibly I had booked a twin room due to my wife's recent hip operation, and so doubles may have far better views. Room was rather tired, but clean.
Plus side is they give nice biccies, water.
Big plus side is the staff are really friendly, helpful, and the breakfast was excellent.
