Guest Reviews
- Daniel (9/5): Was great and memorable experience. - The staff were supper helpful and nice arranging for the breakfast to be puked up as take away. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Not dislikes but personal preferences. The bed was harder than expected. The tv is slightly angled up and the toilet seat sifts to the left.

- Jeannie (3/5): did not receive room we requested. but it was fine for our very short stay. - the grounds are exquisite... gardens absolutely beautiful - venue really gorgeous.
room basic with a fridge. has a table to work on, a table to eat by with chairs. cupboard to hang up clothes and a safe. we did not receive the room we requested with the corner bath. the bed is VERY hard. the 'dormitroy' building we stayed in was very noisy (other guests). We are plant-based. no meal options for us so did not eat there.

- Gugulethu (9/5): Great overnight stay. I would return in future. - Great staff. I checked in late and they were friendly in finding me a room. The room was comfortable and clean. The bed was comfortable too. Nothing
- Christine (5/5): It was disappointing, the decor leaves a lot to be desired and the smell of incense was not to our taste. - The location was very close to where our event was being held. The staff were exceptional, helpful and polite. The room was extremely dark. There was no shelf in the shower cubicle to place toiletries. The bathroom basin was cracked. The TV didn’t work. The toilet seat needs replacing. The extractor fan in the bathroom was EXTREMELY NOISY.

- Koza (8/5): overall, the stay was good and the receptionist on evening duty was up to the task. - The receptionist on evening duty was kind and helpful. The meal at the restaurant was delicious. A faulty lock making it difficult to lock the room door from outside.
- Raymond (8/5): Very good - Bed was very comfy No place in bathroom and shower to put toiletries.
Tv was so slow I could not use Netfilx
- Bulelani (3/5): Poor -
- Enrico (4/5): Disappointing - Location just in front to the Ghallaher Convention Center Not an hotel, it's University campus.

- Jaqueline (1/5): Dissapointed in the venue and booking.com - The location. I only saw 1 staff memember that had to do everything.I had several issues, including no water and no TV signal and I tried several times to contact the reception via whatsapp but it took a couple of calls and whatsapps to get a response.Signal is a big problem here. The Restaurant is only open for breakfast and 2 hours in the evening. So make sure to bring your own food. The plugs in room is not compatable with the hairdryer that you have to get from reception so make sure to take your own adapters and hairdryer. The towels in my room needs serious replacing as it had holes in it.It feels more like a student accommodation setup then a wedding venue. The lighting in the room is so bad and no light at the dressing table to do make up. Non of the photos in the gallery resembles the true reality.I was very dissapointed with booking.com as I trust that you always get what is advertised but this was not the case.I will never stay at this place again.
- Sabine (6/5): Pleasant - Great Breakfast. Staff is extraordinary friendly. Walking distance to Gallagher Conference Centre. My husband was in the Oxford House and it was very loud.
- Emarie (7/5): Good - Staff was very helpful and friendly. Very convenient location. Premises needs some touching up. Can see that in the last three years we have been staying there it is being neglected. Restaurant service etc needs some attention and staff needs more training. Some services regarding room service needs some attention. Maintenance in rooms needs attention. Overall in any other aslect we had a great, comfortable stay.
- Stone (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maarten (4/5): - We checked in, and left right away. It’s decen
- Moleleki (7/5): Good facilities provided and location - Location Room service
- Victor (8/5): Very good - Good breakfast Entrance to the facility is a problem. It happened twice. . We had to wait at the gate for extended times, which is unsafe, especially at night.
- Henry (7/5): It was a good stay - The breakfast was rich
- Petu (9/5): Girl Mini Getaway - The most staff were very delightful, The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. It's quite peaceful and the building seems to be soundproof. We had a wonderful time celebrating my friend's birthday. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable.
The one security guy was very rude, had a bad attitude and treated us off our whole stay from the time we arrived.
At first he gave directions in Zulu and I could understand that because it was a oneliner. Then he continued on with a whole paragraph and of how to get to reception with very deep Zulu. I had to tell him "sorry sir, I actually don't understand what you have just said, my Zulu is not that good". He asked what language I spoke, I told him South Sotho or English. He very rudely told me, he doesn't know English either and continued to give us in English anyway. Everytime I needed to ask something which was at night unfortunately, I had to ask him and he continued with his rude behavior.
That was very unpleasant.
- Raphael (10/5): - The property is so good and convenient
- Juliet (8/5): Amazing - Environment is quiet, neat and staff very warm. Breakfast was fantastic No lunch
- Hettie (7/5): Good value for money if you participate in an event at the convention centre - Breakfast was excellent Main door to our block was different to open, scratch on the floor and got stuck. Our room card did not work and there wasn’t another to replace. Had to use a code.
- Nell (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elzette (8/5): No problems and the cleanliness definitely made up for the shortfalls. Will go and visit again. - Room was very spaciously, very clean, bed very comfortable. Breakfast good, although we need to ask for plates the first morning, also the juice was empty and the place was not been clean up after other guest left so we had to share a table with other people that was also not up to standard but the food were very good. The TV was not up to standard, we struggle a lot. I also feel they could let us know up front that we need to climb stairs to the 3rd floor, not ideal for us as we are over 60. The door let light in from the hallway (all around) and also the blinds, the bigger towels would be very very nice. But none of these were unacceptable.
- Boipelo (6/5): Pleasant -
- Matome (5/5): Passable -
- Linus (9/5): Superb - Enjoy staying- was quiet this time Last time young people until 2pm was Loud we couldnt sleep
- Mlozi (4/5): Disappointing -
- Vuyani (6/5): Pleasant -
- Antoinette (8/5): Overall a good experience for someone going to write a test. - Rooms were nice and spacious. Breakfast was better than anticipated and staff were reallu friendly. Some areas are quite far from others. On the google reviews there is talk of a gym although I didn’t see any signs thereof.
- Onicah (8/5): Very good - Location, size of the room. The communal microwave which was not clean. I booked 2 rooms for the same price, however the one room was very clean and smelled amazing while the other room was unpleasant. Lack of plates in the room.
- Somkho (9/5): Superb -
- Dineo (5/5): Outing turned sour - The area There was a group of Nigerian guys who had an event there, they made noise the entire night,we couldn't sleep, we was so exhausted
- Xc (7/5): Good -
- Shavvas (7/5): Always great staying at Midrand conference center. - Love the location and the staff Friendliness. They are always there to assist you. The rooms are fantastic in Oxford house and I recommend them for anybody with a family. The doors to the rooms a not sound proof and you can hear people walking in the walkway and the passages. The breakfast could also be managed better.
- Van (3/5): Poor -
- Phahledi (8/5): Very good -
- Mdukuzi (4/5): Disappointing - Breakfast was good.
Very quite environment. The TV was not working.
We requested for an extra blanket it was brought very late.
There wasn't a throw and small cushions on the bed.
We didn't get restaurant service on Sunday afternoon .
- Mukesh (1/5): diappointing and uncomfortable but worst of all having to endure irritation, furstration and .... - nothing went well. unit was unhygienic due to wet carpets, infested with insects and no water or ablution services. property owner was deceitful and non-helphful.
- Somkho (9/5): Superb -
- Nqobizitha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kaveer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Onneile (8/5): Very good -
- Nkosingiphile (1/5): Bad - Nothing Given a room I did not book
- Alinah (10/5): My partner and I had a lovely stay, the breakfast was amazing and so was the coffee. - I appreciated the fact that they managed to prepare a meal for us though it was late. The bed, needs to be improved.

- Erica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Riaan (8/5): Very good -
- Lauren (8/5): Very good - The grounds are magnificent. Convenient to have a restaurant on site as well as a gym and pool. Staff were amazing, friendly and very helpful. The accommodation at Oxford House was a bit noisy which might bother some people.
- Brumilda (7/5): Accommodation good and location good. Breakfast not worth it. - Check-in went well, the location is great, right across Galagher estate, and we could walk.
Room was spacious, bed comfortable and clean. We could not use the safe, they said they would send the key, but never got to us.
The keycard to access the building did not work
Breakfast was a bit disappointing. We had to use cheap disposable cups; no ceramic mugs were available. There were not enough tables, so we had to request and wait for cutlery and eat in the reception area. The food was not enough for the number of people, cold and a bit oily.
- Eigene (10/5): Exceptional -
- Keketso (7/5): Good - The staff at receiption was welcoming. There is no phone in room. While I was ironing the electricity went off and I could not call to find out what was going on. I couldn't even go to reception to seek help as I was late to leave for the event i had to attend. In the morning while trying to catch up on some sleep, the noise levels coming from the opposite room was to appalling. I had to wake up and ask them to keep it down but it still continue and once again I couldn't alert reception to sort out the matter cause there is no phone.
- Cedric (8/5): Very good - Everything was clean and tidy. The bar fridge didn't work and there was lack of hot water at times.
- Chantelle (8/5): Very good -
- Johan (9/5): Superb -
- Shilpa (6/5): Stayed at lavender mews. Rooms need an upgrade. Not sure what other rooms were like. - Location Basic amenities like hairdryer, iron, porter not available.
Vegetarian options on menu were limited.
Only 1 lady was running the show and not coping to be all over.
- Cristina (3/5): Poor -
- Patel (5/5): It was a good experience with ups and downs - It’s a very nice and clean place
Huge property The reception we got when we went was not warm
We had booked 2 deluxe rooms
We got one deluxe and one std
We had booked breakfast inclusive
Was disappointed when the staff said that we haven’t booked for breakfast. They should get their facts right before approaching the guests and embarrassing us in front of the room with other visitors
Sunday there was no one at the breakfast place to help
When the capaccino machine didn’t work no one was there to help or assist
- Pritesh (7/5): Okay okay not that great - Good set up No helping in room or begs to drop off or another service too late
- Didintle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jayesh (9/5): Superb -
