• Dikgang (10/5): It was a wonderful stay at Amapondo that calls for a repeat 😁🤞🏼 - A best location for a vacation, nice ocean view😍 we loved the reception of their staff and communication with us from time to time, they're the best. Our way to the top is not user friendly especially for elders I think they should improve on that to accommodate everyone.

• Christian (10/5): - Ich würde gerne 11/10 Punkte vergeben. Amapondo ist eine tolle und sehr herzlich geführte Unterkunft vor, bzw. hinter den Toren von Port St. Jones. Der perfekte Ort und chillen und relaxen - oder halt ein perfekter Ausgangspunkt für Hiking-Touren oder andere Outdoor-Aktivitäten. Wenn man keine eigenes Auto hat, dann ist man etwas ab vom Schuss und es ist nicht so einfach nach Port St. John’s oder anderswo hinzukommen. Amapondo bietet aber einen Fahrservice an, den ich in Anspruch genommen habe. Auf der Rückfahrt nach Mthatha habe ich sogar einen Gratisfahrt bekommen, da die Besitzer an dem Morgen eh in die Richtung gefahren sind 11/10 🫶🏼

• Fez (5/5): I am happy about the location, the staff is very friendly, the facility is a lodge and backpacker - The breakfast was awesome, very happy with it. The location of the venue is pleasing, it closer to the beach and it also has nice area for braai and a pool table. The bed is uncomfortable, the pics showed that there is a separate room for children but there is no separate bedrooms. The shower floods as water do not drain properly. The room that we were allocated is also situated on the highest level, so there is staircases to access your room.

Tipp: es gibt von 8 Uhr morgens bis 8 Uhr abends Essen in dem dazugehörigem Restaurant mit Bar. Das Essen ist extrem lecker! Der Gemeinschaftsbereich lädt zum verweilen ein. Die tierischen Mitbewohner (Hunde und Katzen) runden die Atmosphäre ab, man fühlt sich rundum wohl.

If we decide to visit Port St John's again I will definitely choose Amapondo. There nothing I didn't like. I would just like to suggest that they would in future consider to have WiFi for the whole property not only to have access when you are around resturant and reception area.

Loved the old dog that came in and hatted, jumped on the bed, gave us a kiss and went and lay outside, such perfect behaviour. The old Cat just sitting next to me at dinner and breakfast. Port St Johns had been on my travel radar for a long time, your accommodation filled expectations. Even meeting Mr Ben Dekker, forester, surveyor, botanical expert, environmentalist and host of other titles, a super interesting 85 year old Thanks Amapondo, not sure we will ver be back, too many other places to see, but we will talk and recommend as far as we go. ***** i enjoyed our stay and honestly cannot complain about anything. The place was exactly what it said it was. Great big High Five to the owners, managers and employees

The owner should disclose that the property has dog…one morning I was sleeping peacefully and only to be waken by barking dogs in front of my doorstep. Not nice at all.

Staff was friendly and helpful It's not exceptional value for money the room itself , price is on the higher side for the room you get although it compensate with the location and sorroundings

From check-in to check-out went seamlessly and all the staff and owners are unbelievably friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and well equipped, and unexpectedly modern for a facility so off the beaten track. The restaurant serves the most delicious meals. I can highly recommend AmaPondo to anyone travelling in the Port StJohn's area. Everything was awesome. We really enjoyed our stay at AmaPondo.
• Frank (10/5): Paradise. We wish we had more time here. - Where to start... The place is a paradise in Paradise. The welcoming. The vibe. The place. On top the view is absolutely breathtaking. The staff is on top of their game. Friendly, warm, they live the dream, that's the feel you get here. The restaurant and bar is out of a movie. Attention to detail was paid here. Our room. Where do you get ensuite at a backpackers, neat and clean. We should have stayed longer and surely will be back as soon as we can. Irrelevant question 😀

I feel like the price we paid wasn’t worth it. - the shower gets blocked after someone takes a bath and have to wait for more than 10 minutes before the next person can bath. - we borrowed plates for braai and we were told to take them to the kitchen to wash them. Should have asked us to make us our beds as well. I thought we booked ourselves for relaxation.

All interactions were amazing! The idea of limiting wifi to the bar did not impress me. Considering a booster for the downside residences may come at a moderate cost.

• sandisiwe (1/5): Below expectations. Would never recommend it to anyone I know. - The oven provided in the kitchen worked very well; we prepared our pork in there, and it came out beautifully. Upon arrival, the reception staff made us wait for about 30 minutes before we could check in. We had to look for her, and she had clearly forgotten about us. The bed linen (pillow case and mattress cover) was stained with blood, indicating that it had not been changed from the previous guests. The staff did not share the wifi password with us upon arrival. The cabin floor and window seal above the bed were very dusty. I dropped a piece of clothing on the floor, and it was full of dust when I picked it up. There was no mop provided, therefore we could not mop the bathroom floor after showering. The shower did not have a shower curtain, and water spilt all over the bathroom. We had to use the towels to clean up, as no mop was provided. The water in the shower turned cold as I was showering. No spoons were provided in the kitchen. The knife was very blunt, and we could not cut anything.

Mosquito netting at the windows was missing, but much needed! Be aware it can get quite loud in the evenings / mornings due to live music from the bar / people walking past the rooms.

• Dladla (9/5): Beautiful place. - The location is incredible, and the views are even better. They have a bar and restaurant indoors with decent choices. Albeit a bit pricey, but you are allowed to bring outside beverages. They also offer additional services that you can book ahead of time to make your experience more than just going to the 2nd beach. It's definitely worth the experience. Alcohol prices at the bar The stairs towards the top houses are quite the workout but definitely worth the views.

• Annah (6/5): Pleasant - Location and staff The place had electrical failure and when checking in they failed to inform us of this. We couldnt charge our mobile phone or iron our clothes. The informed us they had hot water and lights working only after we asked them but then Then hot water in the shower was hot for one second then ice cold the next second. Having to take a bath in the basin as i hate ice cold showers

They also have solar and a generator which came in handy as the transformer that supplies the area with electricity got damaged but we still had lights and warm water for showering. Electric blankets need to be put in for the chilly winter nights because the room does get cold. No cutlery or plates in the room.

• Mbedzy (7/5): they was no electricity for fridge and microwave they used solar and generators during my 2 nights - break fast was perfect and the location is close to the beach they was electricity fall in the city so no room fridge n microwave except in the main kitchens but they used solar n generator to power everything else.

• Mjojeli (8/5): I enjoyed my stay at Amampondo,but few things needs to be taken care off - The food was out of this world it was soo fresh and tasty 😋, the staff is friendly and welcoming.The Mampondo is near the beach ⛱️, so it was easy for us to walk to the beach as we were not worried about our car living it behind because the gate is always closed and safe. As were staying for some days,we were not provided mop and broom and also we were provided with fresh towels everyday,dust bin also
